Negative experience: Rooms extremely tired and dated, had just been cleaned when we arrived, air freshener had been sprayed everywhere with a layer of it on the bathroom floor. Buffet breakfast was a disaster, no food and waiting half an hour for more to come out. Expensive for what it was, and felt ripped off with late check in and early check out, won't stay there again.

Positive experience: The decor was great and so was the location. They made a small birthday cake for us which was very nice! But two major points of friction- there was no heat control in the room so we had to put on aircon or use a fan at night. Which seems a major waste of electricity and was unpleasant for sleeping. The coffee machine was broken and the replacement seemed hard to use. The receptionist mistakenly said we had money to owe when we checked out and didn’t apologise when we pointed out he must have the wrong room. The staff were generally pretty curt and unfriendly.

Positive experience: I have stayed here before, and really enjoyed it. Beds were amazing, steam , sauna was fantastic! However, this year I did enjoy it also, but felt it has been left in some areas and needs work!. Changing room in gym and swim was dirty, floors wet (i mopped with one that was there )nappy left from kids swim. Some of the wood at the bottom of the lockers was totally rotten. One.or two showers needed attention too. I understand that it has a high foot fall, but the basic things need to be checked. The trainers were just sitting at the reception desk so we're not busy. Lovely people, just maybe needed a little.push to check things. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic. Bar food was really good too. Service behind the bar was extremely slow,but the waiters were faster than last year. Over all I did have a lovely stay. I am just personally picking things from last year. Beds were not good this year, quite soft as last year felt amazing! I only uses the shower once in my room and tbh glad , as it wasn't great. Power was awful. I enjoyed staying here,possibly because my friends were with me....However disappointed that it wasn't the same as the previous year. Probably leave it and try another hotel.

Positive experience: I stayed here three nights in October for a business trip. It's a nice hotel and is located on the "island" in Cork between the two rivers, towards the eastern end. The hotel is showing a bit of age, but everything was clean and the room was comfortable. The room was a very nice size by European standards, and had one full and one single bed. There was a work area and the bathroom was a nice size. Bed was comfortable, water was plenty hot, towels were fresh and there was tea/coffee in the room. No complaints at all. There is a large breakfast room on the ground floor, and a coffee bar where you can grab a quicker bite. Breakfast was full Irish buffet, and cost 18 Euro in 2024 when I visited. Staff were friendly and the place was clean. I didn't use the restaurant otherwise, nor the bar, but they seemed popular with guests. There is public parking garage under the hotel, and I think it was 14 Euro per day with a small hotel discount; you have to remember to get your ticket validated at the front desk to get it however! Speaking of the front desk, they were friendly storing my luggage on the first day, and with calling me a cab upon departure. I would stay here again.

Negative experience: We found this hotel last minute & normally I wouldn’t leave a poor review however this stay was pleasant until checkout . The reception staff was discussing and watching the American election as we were checking out. While checking out a woman working there proceeded to mock us for being American . She then made a statement in poor taste regarding our political situation. This shouldn’t have even been discussed with foreign guests paying to stay at a hotel . In any country we’ve visited it is considered rude to insult a visitor and insult their country. We were told our country was a mockery. All by staff working at a hotel Lobby in another country. As a general rule , it’s best not to insult guests or speak down on their countries of origin .

Fantastic experience: I recently stayed at the Clayton Hotel in Cork from Friday to Sunday, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the front desk staff really set the tone for my stay. The girls at reception had a great sense of humor and were incredibly helpful, making check-in a breeze and happily answering all my questions. It was so refreshing to encounter staff who were not only professional but also genuinely friendly and engaging. The room itself was immaculate — I couldn’t fault a single thing about it. Everything was spotless, and the attention to detail was clear. The water in the bathroom was always piping hot, which was perfect after a long day out. And the bed was simply divine; I don’t think I’ve had a better night’s sleep in any hotel. It was so comfortable that getting out of bed in the morning was almost a challenge! Overall, the Clayton Hotel Cork exceeded my expectations in every way. From the friendly service to the luxurious comfort, every detail was just right. I genuinely couldn’t find a single fault, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommended!

Negative experience: We stayed here for 10 days (weekdays) for work. Staff are friendly. The location is very accessible to everything and city centre. We were happy for our stay even though we noticed negative things in the hotel/room during our stay, but we ignored that as the staff are friendly, but not until yesterday. We usually keep the clean tag outside of our door to clean our room. But yesterday, we didn't put it as we were thinking this is already our last night. But when we came back in the evening after work, we were so surprised that someone entered our room and cleaned it. We also have one paper bag with snacks but it's not there anymore. We don't know if they accidentally threw it, as it's in a brown paper bag. Nothing important was missing, but we felt that this hotel is not safe at all. Our first question was, How did they know that no one was inside our room? And what if I am inside? And surprisingly, they will just enter our room? We went down to reception to report that, she already mentioned that if we don't put the clean tag they are not supposed to enter our room. She said she will send an email to the accommodation manager, We did check out today, and no one talked to us. How could they enter our room without any permission or without our request to clean it

Positive experience: Very nice rooms, nice pool, sauna and gym too.. great location. Average service, room refresh doesn’t even include replacing used towels! You’ve to pay for basic dental kit! Absolutely below average breakfast, hardly any options.. the servers were very courteous though! Overall, had higher expectations but the hotel didn’t meet them.

Fantastic experience: Good, conformable stay in a well located hotel. Room was modern and well maintained. Breakfast was excellent - plenty of choice. Globe restaurant was good both times I used it for lunch and in the evening. Special mention should go to Debbie at reception who was extremely helpful when I had a reservation issue and needed to make an unexpected change.

Fantastic experience: We held a meeting in the conference centre with 150 guests, the staff were really friendly and very helpful. Overnight accommodation was very comfortable, food was good, and the event was a big success. Positive experience: Expensive. About 200 EUR/room is a lot. Rooms available from 15:00. This is a way too late. Of course with the morning flight we had to wait and managed to have a room from 1pm. Mould in the bathroom is all over tales around shower. Why? Can't you clean it? In my room bathroom was not clean as short hair was even on the shower wall. Awful. Double room and 1 cookie. I do not care if it is good taste or bad but the point is why 1? To be shared or staff eats one? For this value selection of tea very poor. Calling reception failed. When I went down there were 3 receptionist chatting!!!! And breakfast, a complete disaster. Tea and coffee served. Who puts 4 tea bags into a pot??? This is not elegant and also who told you to put so many of them in one pot? Let people take a hot water by themselves and leave tea selection on main table. This should be self-service. No real bread, just sponge toasts. Fruit seamed like with gas, bubbles which means that they are not fresh. I forgot about room window, we had balcony and there was always a noisy wind blowing through window. Impossible to sleep. Never again

Positive experience: Overall it was a good stay. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. The shower was great, it was nice that the shower head was removable. A slight negative in the bathroom was that there was no shaving mirror. The bedroom had good storage, but could have used a few more hangers; 4 were inadequate. The room felt spacious, there was adequate seating and a table which was helpful when we ordered room service. We felt the room was overall a bit dark. Lack of lighting we felt was an issue (especially as a woman trying to do my makeup (the bathroom mirror is too far away to see without glasses) and the plug sockets were unhelpfully located but they did include USB - if it were positioned at the side of a bed it would be better, it was just too far away for any of our cables to reach to charge while using. The room service we ordered was okay, the chips were raw but the chicken was delicious, albeit a small portion. We didn't use the pool facilities so I am unable to comment, but it was nice that they were there. Parking was good, but I felt for the price it should be included. Breakfast was not very good, the quality of the cooked breakfast was very poor and I do not believe that any of those ingredients were local as advertised in the restaurant. In future, I would get breakfast elsewhere. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. It was a good stay, but not a great stay. I think that there were a few things that could be improved and were expected for a 4 star hotel. I would probably stay again if there was an offer.

Negative experience: The food was lovely as were the staff, but after paying €662 for a balcony room to watch junkies right below us sleep, drinking, doing drugs, urinating, shouting and fighting most of the night, I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. We rang reception about this twice and were told they were ringing the guards, no guards showed up which makes me question if they did at all. We weren’t offered a new room after the price we paid? It was shameful.

Negative experience: Our experience at this hotel was a mixed one the staff where very professional and very friendly put the rooms where a big letdown are first room was covered in dust. There was a hole in the bathroom wall and one of the drawers off the TV unit was broken which nearly fell out and caught my little lads toe. It just seems that housekeeping is really letting the hotel down. There was just tick dust everywhere in the lobby in the seating area the big golden balls that hang in the seating area just everywhere you touched was dusty. The air-conditioning didn’t work in the second room that we had to change to which meant we had to leave the windows open all night which generally wouldn’t be an issue but the hotel is surrounded by drug addicts and alcoholics who were squawking like seagulls all hours a day and night.

Positive experience: i came to reception for checking in / i was told there is no toilet seat on the toilet / i was very surprised as i ask why am i the one getting this room / i was told that the hotel is fully booked they gave me voucher later on for drinks as an apology but i dont think anyone would like this experience of walking in to the room after long day with no toilet seat. i drove from the airport to the parking the parking was closed tried to ring them with no answer walked down to the reception to ask them to please open the door at 2 am in the morning

Positive experience: For the rate we paid - I give 4 stars. Location was A+, with easy access to one of the main areas with plenty of dining options and shops. The room itself was spacious (we did a family room) but somewhat dated. The room location was sub optimal. On the back of the hotel there is a homeless shelter and for several hours all we could hear was screaming outside our 2nd story window. Even the sound machine we brought with us couldn’t drown the noise. It’s not technically the hotels fault and for what it’s worth we did complain and they did call the cops. So they were at least willing to try to help but their hands are tied. Not sure I’d stay here again mostly because of the noise. But if you are looking for good value for your money, a clean room and good location, don’t think twice.

Positive experience: every single member of staff that we met was very efficient and friendly - the housekeeping folks said hello and smiled...front desk were welcoming and professional...breakfast room team went above and beyond in a very busy environment and the late night bar staff were really accommodating and made us feel valued. A couple of minor areas for improvement could be the cleanliness of the cups/plates,the shower/bath partition seal was worn and allowed water to flood the floor when shower was in use and some way of reducing the impact of the noise made street drinkers outside the hotel near the car park entrance - it was not possible to leave the windows open for fresh air and the weather was hot - this may be the reason an air conditioning unit was placed in our family room? Apart from that we had a very pleasant stay and have been repeat customers for several years each August and will return for sure.

Fantastic experience: From Check-In to Check-Out, Every single staff member was great! The girls at reception accommodated us with an early arrival. Positive experience: The location is good, except for the drug addicts sleeping on the pavement round the back. The service at the front desk was good, but.... Internet in the rooms was nearly unusable. Good signal, appalling band width. Like the reviews of the Globe restaurant the breakfast was dire. Squishy croissants that tasted like they came out of a supermarket packet and scrambled eggs that were made from powder. Really unimpressed.

Negative experience: At nearly E500 for 2 nights we were very disappointed. Staff at reception were dismissive and quite rude, bathroom smelled like urine, shower parting leaked a lot of water onto the floor while showering, mini fridge was very dirty as well as the kettle and dusty cups. Bathroom sink drain is not working properly and there is no pressure in the shower. Breakfast quality is not great: Scrambled eggs and mushrooms were rubbery, way overcooked. Positives: Beds were comfortable, we have enjoyed the pool, although, were disappointed that jacuzzi was out of service and this was not noted on the website at the time of booking. We had left our bags in the storage area, I did not realise it is just left there in an open room, which is quite worrying as at times there were no staff members at the reception and it was left unattended. I have assumed that it would have been placed in a locker of sorts or at least behind locked doors This stay was definitely not worth the price we paid.

Positive experience: We've stayed at Clayton Cork City several times. The location is perfect for walking to shops, restaurants and pubs. Staff is friendly and helpful. Our main concerns are the safety and practicality of the tub/shower combo. The tubs are very deep with a high step to get in/out, and the only grab bar is located too far away to be helpful. The bathmat does not adhere to the tub, making it useless and quite dangerous as it slips out from under us. It's best to do without the mat, very carefully. In addition, the shower water easily leaks under the glass door, as the seal is very poor. Be prepared for a wet floor, even with the door angled into the tub. There's just no way to prevent it. Also, there was no fan in our bathroom, leading to a very unpleasant humid experience. We're not elderly or disabled. We simply want to point out that there are safety hazards for anyone staying in these rooms with tub/shower combos. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay!

Positive experience: Room had no view and a bit small taught they would clean the room but never did. Paid for the facilities but the jacuzzi wasn't working staff at reception were lovely but for the price I paid and too pay for the car park on top of it afterwards wasn't worth it and the room like I said was small I'd have too think about going back bit of a shame but it is what it is

Positive experience: Room was nice and big, comfortable bed and all amenities, Hair Dryer, Iron, Safe and Fridge. I have to say that we had the nicest breakfast that we've had in any other Irish hotel. Comfortable bed. My only problem is that the Air condition did not work. I woke up at 4am absolutely sweating to death, Could not sleep with the blankets covering us. We have to open the Window and curtains to leave air into the room.

Positive experience: What a disappointment. I cannot fathom how a hotel of this size and caliber would not disclose a broken air conditioning system beforehand and, instead, allow entire groups of guests to sleep in literal furnaces (since the rooms are windowless and facing the inner hall). Negative experience: We will not stay here again. - Room was extremely hot, with no window to open. Staff didn’t seem to care. - Dinner staff were constantly confused about who had what dish. When we tried to tell them, they blatantly ignored the person talking. - 1 of the rooms had a leaking ceiling in the bathroom. Negative experience: As with many other posts, we arrived to the Clayton and the AC was out. We were told it would not be fixed during our stay. The only option was to have your windows open, which seemed workable as it was pleasant outside. Unfortunately, the hotel backs up to a very active homeless shelter. It appears the shelter supports many individuals in the community with both food and housing. Those that don't get housing for the evening camp out outside the doors of the shelter. They are extremely noisy weeknights and weekends. Sleep was impossible until the Garda came and broke up the partying. The noise was very significant, and I suspect it would be an issue even with closed windows, especially on lower floors. Traffic is also very heavy during rush hour, so be mindful of timing if you're driving. The rooms, while clean, were a bit dated. Bathrooms had mold/mildew in the tile grout. Wifi worked great, and there is a great commercial district nearby with pubs, shops, etc. I agree with previous posts; this is not a 4 star hotel. It seems to cater to the coach tours, and the quality of the hotel doesn't match the price. If you do end up here, avoid rooms on the alley at all costs.

Positive experience: Room was fine, clean and comfortable and the cleaning lady was lovely, very helpful, we have some food and drinks in the Bar/restaurant the first night as my husband and friend were running the marathon the next morning, they ordered the carbonara dish @€17.95, it was cold and voile, now we are not fussy eaters but it was shocking, we were asked about it and we told the server, the manager came down apologised and even said herself it looked nothing like what it usually does, we weren't charged for it as it wasn't edible, I wondered why there was security staff on the door and discovered the next day there was drug users around a good bit at the side of the hotel, no noise issue on first night but dreadful on the second night outside around 4am ish, went on for over an hour, i feel the hotel cost was overpriced for what we got, staff were nice.

Positive experience: Great location for the city centre. Nice facilities. Air conditioner was not working though so the room was roasting and made sleeping unpleasant. We heard lots of other guests complaining about the same thing. It spoiled our stay. Update to this: The hotel subsequently contacted us and were very good at making amends. Positive experience: Extremely convenient to downtown restaurants, shopping, and attractions. The rooms are nicely appointed, and the only drawback is that the air conditioning is underpowered in summer such that the window needs to be opened for cooling. The rooms remain warm even with the window open. The public spaces are large and have plenty of seating. The breakfast restaurant is spacious, the food is plentiful and good, but the staff are a little too rigid to be friendly. I would stay here again for all the positives this location has to offer.

Negative experience: Aircon wasn't working. Didn't think it would be so unbearably hot, with a room that has a window that doesn't open, but faces into an internal lobby anyway. Couldn't wait to get out of the hotel and into the fresh air. We asked for a fan at the reception desk but it never arrived. We paid over €300 per night for two nights. Didn't have breakfast as it's over priced.

Negative experience: I would never stay here again. The room wasn't as clean and was extremely loud - partying until after 2 pm. We had to keep the window open because the room was so warm. Fantastic experience: The room was lovely and it was great to have a bath after a few few days of camping, Unfortunately, the air-conditioning only blew hot which didn’t help cooling the room down, And the 24 hour room service turned out to be vending machine. However, this is an excellent choice and smack bang in the city centre and as they say literally ten minutes walk from the train station.

Negative experience: I didn’t have a good experience at this hotel. The staff very obviously don’t care about customer experience. After being out in the rain and the kids and myself getting soaked, we come back to check in to not to be allowed check into our room. My husband was with us earlier when we put our bags in as room was ready and they never mentioned anything about payment for the room. My husband had his credit card on file but they made it very difficult for me. My phone had died and didn’t have access to revolut until my phone had been charged. They made me and my two small kids sit in the foyer until I waited for my phone to charge. My kids were hungry, tired and wet from being out in the rain. When I did finally got checked in and got my bags, I was obviously inundated and had my hands full but they didn’t offer to help or anything. Appalling way to treat paying guests. Absolutely appalling and especially as I was trying to keep the little ones going and my son was jumping about the place. I won’t be going here again. My husband was there earlier with us and it was so obvious that the family room was for us with small kids. It was appalling service. They obviously don’t care.

Negative experience: The staff was lovely , but the bedroom was very expensive , the quality wasn't great , there was a stain in the carpet , windows and mirrors had fingerprints that were not cleaned and had some dust , not worth the 315€ that were paid . This price didn't include breakfast . The bedroom was booked initially in the Silver Springs Clayton Hotel, but for some reason , it was overbooked, although I understand that it's a long weekend , more care would be needed . I hope this helps to improve the quality of your service . Again , it was not worth the 315€ paid ... ( bedroom was small as well)

Fantastic experience: Beautiful hotel right in the heart of Cork. Amazing rooms, cozy and spacious. The people in the reception is very kind and will help in every request you may have to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The rooms are quiet so you can have all the privacy you want. During my stay I was able to sleep without any problems and no noises from my neighbors were heard (TV, snores, etc). Everything is in walking distance from the hotel which makes it the perfect place to stay for vacation or business.

Fantastic experience: We had a great stay at this hotel.Staff at reception were so friendly.Service in the bad and restaurant were also really good.Loved the reception area.Room was great.We had a room on the 2nd floor with a lovely view of City Hall.Parked at City Hall.This was just across the river and great value at €10 for 24 hours.Will definitely return!

Positive experience: Brilliant location for walking to most Sights. Underground car parking usefull at discounted rate...but still cost 12 euros For 24hrs and parking spaces tight for larger cars. Booking in a fiasco as people at reception but sidelined to fast check in which was anything but! Firstly screen said we had not booked Then kept freezing. Then kept repeating. Eventually young lady helping had to book us in manually. Rooms posher premier Inn rooms. View was indifferent over river as work buildings tun down. In morning looked down onto road where someone flat on back. Fortunately not dead as someone came along with sleeping bag. Rough sleepers quite prevalent around hotel. Breakfast very good selection of hot And cold foods. Health spa small but OK.

Negative experience: The staff was very friendly and attentive. The location is amazing only 3 min walk from the centre. Parking is paid separately at €12 per day. Breakfast is €17... The hotel is fine in general but the two rooms that we got were just filthy. We had to clean bathrooms before we could comfortably use them. Hair, stains, body fluids and bad smell. Bathrooms are very dated, mouldy and stained. Room was not clean either with stained glasses, lipstick stains on them, hair on bedside tables etc. it's a shame, this place has a great potential if the cleaning staff did their job right.

Positive experience: Great hotel option in Cork City. Location is convenient to busses, restaurants, and the riverside. Rooms are fairly clean and spacious, although furnishings are somewhat spartan with some wear and tear. But the balcony! I upgraded to a river view room and it was well worth it. The balcony is right over the river and gets sun in the morning. I recommend asking for a higher floor if you can because the view is better the higher up you are (I was on 4). Breakfast is decent and staff seem a bit stretched thin, but all friendly and proficient. Overall, though this wasn’t modern luxury, it was perfectly adequate for my business trip, and is a great choice for balcony lovers.

Negative experience: I stayed here yesterday for a hen party, me and my friend were in room 410 getting ready when 2 strange men entered our room with a door key and room number given by reception for ours while we were undressed!! . This hotel is not safe for woman! We complained to reception about it to only be offered a late check out which wasn’t the point. The receptionist could not give me a straight answer if the keys the two men had could still be used to enter our room!! Given we had our belonging there we were scared!!. Coming back from the hen that night we had learned our keys had been deactivated which I can only assume the receptionist did not deactivate the room for the men who entered our room. Negative experience: I was disappointed with my latest visit to this hotel, and in no way should be considered a 4* facility. Despite advertising as 24-hour room service, in fact just after 9pm on Saturday night none of the items from so called "late night" menu were available, but reception did not mention this when I was placing my order. It was only 20 minutes later, when Room Service staff brought just drinks from the order (not to mention incorrect one) I was told that no food is available. The air conditioning unit appeared to be very old and not working correctly: regardless of the dial position on the thermostat, the heating would remain on. The only way to get room to comfortable temperature was to turn off aircon all together, as a result waking up the next day to very cold room. Toilets in the fitness area had no toilet paper, despite having two roll holders, which makes it clear that no one check in very long time, despite cleaning sheet being in fact signed, allegedly, every hour. Windows aren't very sound proof: my room was on the first floor, large part of the night I could hear, what appeared to be, people fighting, screaming and drinking outside. The hotel really pushed self check-in and self check-out facilities, which are handy but gave me strong impression that staff are not interested in dealing with Customer.

Fantastic experience: Had the most wonderful stay in the most beautiful suite, staff were so helpful and friendly and dinner in the hotel restaurant was not only delicious it was also very reasonably priced, already booked our next stay! :)

Fantastic experience: Beautiful hotel, we stayed for 2 nights, delicious breakfast and dinner, good drinks option at the bar, sauna is too small but the jacuzzi and the pool are perfect! Very nice reception staff, sooper nice room on 6th floor with amazing view of the city! Breakfast and dinner staff were all very cute!

Negative experience: On my trip to Cork i stayed at three very different hotels , the Clayton being the most expensive . The decor of the hotel was beyond dusty and the internal windows were filthy . the shower was the worlds worst I've seen , no pressure and it drippled down 1cm away from wall so you had to rest on the wall to get wet .(lets not mention the anonymous hairs on the bathroom floor on arrival) for the extortionate price we paid i got a better view , better shower and a much better breakfast at a hotel around the corner for half the price . needless to say i wouldn't rush back .

Fantastic experience: Ideal location in the city centre. Discounted parking in the basement car park if you're staying at the hotel. Adequate, well kept rooms. Breakfast costs extra and it is advisable to book it on-line first. A decent choice of breakfast, and a bar restaurant also in the hotel. Walking distance from: shops, bars and restaurants. Additionally there is a swimming pool and gym as well.

Positive experience: Ok for a few nights. Don’t go booking it expecting a relaxing spa experience. Both days I visited the pool ,sauna and steam room it was full of children having swimming lessons. I think it doubles up as a toddler swim school. The gym on the other hand is fantastic. Rooms ok for a few nights, great location.

Negative experience: I had no heating in my room i booked an executive room and made 2 complaints to the ladies at the desk and nobody came to fix it also my tv did not work ..I have stayed at this hotel about 6 times the past 18 months but i dont think i will be going back as i was freezing in my room with no tv

Negative experience: Good front office people. No heating in a winter time is unacceptable. you promote a H&S policy in your website but provide unsafe food delivery (we were served a room service on a filthy tray with a filthy troley a nothing seemed out of scope from the employee that brought it). Promote an app to order services that works to sell but the service is not there so you are charged and then have to fight to get the services (in our case room service)
