Motion Health Club Cork

Negative experience: Very expensive and not really worth it. When I joined on a 3 month membership, it was around €100 a month with free towels. During my membership, they discontinued the free towels. They said they'd emailed everyone about this but I never received any contact from them during my membership. I had to change that day using a comically small hand towel that they begrudgingly gave me. They handed me a towel that I daresay barely covered my front let alone my behind. My other issue with them was that they have a sign saying "Lifeguard on duty"- where? They're not present at the pool, they're often not at the front desk watching the CCTV of the pool. I was in the pool a few times and watched pretty crazy, scary things happen that really should've been dealt with by a person on the floor. It's a shame, I'd love to be a member again as it was a handy location but it's just not worth it.

Positive experience: The staff at Motion Health Club are genuinely lovely—helpful, attentive, and always professional. However, the decision to discontinue the towel service is a significant letdown, particularly for a facility associated with the Montenotte Hotel, where one expects a premium experience. While the change is framed as a sustainability initiative, it feels more like greenwashing. The environmental impact of removing towel service is likely minimal, and it may even have unintended consequences, such as members driving instead of walking or cycling to avoid carrying wet towels—ironically increasing emissions. For a service so integral to the leisure experience, removing it entirely feels abrupt and unfair to members. Offering the option to pay a small fee for towel use would have been a far better solution. This decision comes across as a cost-cutting measure that undermines the high standards this facility is otherwise known for. A disappointing change in an otherwise good gym.

Fantastic experience: Had a great stay in the hotel. Special shout-out to Ted, Dan and James in the leisure centre. They were super friendly and accommodating. The gym was very well equipped and the facilities were spotless. I would highly recommend!!!
