Oakgrove Leisure Centre

Fantastic experience: Lovely leisure centre, clean, and well equipped with a sauna and steam room that always work perfectly and are always at the ideal temperature. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. Lots of natural light in the pool area. The other members are always really pleasant and considerate. Swimming lessons available with some great instructors.

Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities. Would highly recommend.

Negative experience: Do not recommend kids swimming lessons here. Particularly for younger kids. Young kids expected to dress themselves and go to changing rooms alone, even when very upset. After our first visit was promised I could stay with my kids but again they were forced to go alone and were extremely distressed.

Negative experience: Zadzwoniłam zapisalam 3 dzieci na lekcje. Po dotarciu na miejsce dowiedziałam się że nie mają ich wogole na liście. Basen naprawdę stary, brak przebieralni na basenie to już szok w XXI wieku. Widać brak remontu od chyba kilku dekad. Jeden malutki basen gdzie plywa razem kilka grup. Starsza pani z obsługi chodzi w kurtce ale dzieci chce żeby najlepiej ze samochodu w styczniu przyprowadzić w kąpielówkach i okryte ręcznikiem po prostu porazka. Nie mogłam wejsc z dzieckiem do przedsionka basenu żeby pomóc mu się przebrać bo to 5 latek który był w takim szoku gdy tam wszedł ze widzialam że zaraz się rozplacze byl poprostu przerażony gdy obca kobieta targała z niego ubrania bo przyszedl na basen o zgrozo ubrany w podkoszulek i bluzkę. Po tym krótkim wstępie i przerażonych minach moich synów zdecydowałam się zabrać ich przed rozpoczęciem jakiejkolwiek lekcji na co starsza pani która nawet nie wiem kim tam była bo nie miała żadnego identyfikatora zaczęła mnie obrażać i wyzywać bo nie jesteśmy Irlandczykami i jak zwykle nam coś nie pasuje. Poprostu czysty razsizm. Dzieci dziękowały że je stamtąd zabrałam a to chyba najlepiej określą poziom tego basenu i jego personelu. Nigdy więcej tam nie wrócimy. Ps. Basen na który zostaliśmy skierowani z Oakgrove byl w Lavanagh Centre.

Positive experience: My experience was when it was still being used by the school which is a part of the same building and is a Special school - School of the Divine Child. Someone in authority decided ( presumably Enable Ireland) that the students would no longer have access to it. So a perfect therapeutic resource for all these needy students, many of whom are wheelchair users, was stopped. What a scandalous decision when it is a pool which is literally is a part of the school but they cannot use. Oakgrove seem to be able to staff and run it so why can't the school. A further strange twist is that after limiting onsite access they then built a state of the art pool in their own extravagent centre a few miles away. The school couldn't afford to transport all their students to this new pool and so school time access was zero. I visited the new pool today and asked about access. The receptionist could provide me with no information. I wonder if any special schools access it at all during the school day?

Negative experience: Just called in with my son for his first class. I forgot my wallet and they refused to take him point blank. Even though I offered to pay later that evening. Wouldn't even look me in the eye to tell me. Said they could not do it and walked off. Incapable of having an adult conversation. Saddened by whole experience. Won't go back in any capacity.
