Negative experience: This is the worst gym I've ever been to in my life. Absolute neglect on the part of the owner. The machines have no maintenance whatsoever. In fact, I started going to this gym two months ago since I moved to Dunboyne and don't have a car. One of the machines has been broken ever since, and from what I know, it must have been there for many months. However, two weeks ago, the gym closed on Fridays and Saturdays for maintenance (a lie, of course). The restrooms are conspicuously clean. They've also reduced their summer hours, closing on Sundays. To my surprise, I was there on Friday and asked the instructor if they were open today, and they said they would be open until 3:00 PM. To my surprise, I just went and found it closed. A disaster. It's a shame that Dunboyne only has this one gym, which is a complete disaster. The only redeeming feature are the instructors, who are pleasant.
Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to this gym every day and honestly, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. The atmosphere is always positive and welcoming, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The machines are well-maintained. It's clean, well-organized, and has everything I need for both strength training and cardio. Check put their classes too What I really love is how consistent the quality is – it feels like a space where people are genuinely focused on improving themselves. Whether you're just starting out or have a solid routine, this gym caters to all levels. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a solid local gym!

Fantastic experience: Great customer service at the reception. The gym is perfect for strength training with good equipment support. There is locker facility, shower, washroom and a warmup area. It's not the biggest gym, but all the equipment is available at your disposal. It's located at the town centre. Hence, it's accessible via public transport and easy to locate as well. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: i have had to use a pseudonym as owner john uses cross checks negative reviews with verve memberships and i do not want to be treated any differently. The standard and upkeep of machines in this gym are appalling. Tape over parts where handles of machines have either ripped or are covered in grease, a hamstring curl that has been broken for well over a year now and a leg extension that has been broken for a few months that were promised to be fixed in january but still no sign of a fix or even an update on information. One rope that is on its last legs and missing or broken dumbells that have not been replaced. If membership expires you have to pay the extortionate sign up fee again. one positive is that the staff are delightful, passionate and eager to sort any problems, have never had a bad experience with any member of staff whatsoever. It’s a shame that verve has been tainted by such management problems as it has the potential to be the essential gym for all people that live in dunboyne and wider areas with proper care

Negative experience: I only just signed up to the gym a few weeks ago. All staff seem nice and friendly. Only thing i had one occasion where I was in the shower after my workout and the man on the desk come in and said your taking long in the shower. I was only in the shower for 10-15 minutes. I was a bit uncomfortable tbh, just wondering is there a time limit on a shower seeing I have a full membership? I am a bit hesitant to renew my membership for next month.

However, on occasions when members use the shower close to closing time, we may politely remind them to finish up so our staff can close the facility on time. Negative experience: Half star is not possible so giving 1 star. Worst gym in terms of administration. Said I can cancel my subscription whenever I want. A day before next month payment I cancelled membership but they still charged and said to me that I have to cancel one month in advance but they never said it during admission. Guy clearly said I can cancel whenever I want and how can anyone predict emergencies or future. Sometimes we have to move out of a place due to unseen circumstances and same happened to me. I notified them before payment was deducted but still they did it. When I emailed no one responded.
Our terms and conditions are very clear and can be read at any time by our members. Furthermore sending a request less than 8 hours outside banking hours and somehow expecting the payment to stopped is just unrealistic and actually not possible. Sorry you did not follow the clear details for canceling in our t&c's. If you had there would have been no issue. Sadly you failed to follow the necessary and simple procedure then decide to award our gym a 1 star review. Best of luck in the future
Positive experience: I've recently joined the gym and I have to say that Nicola at reception always welcomes you with a smile and Courteney and Lauren are great. They both do the classes and I always feel that I've done a great workout after their classes. They also helped me a couple of times when I was not too sure of how to use the machines. There were not much classes for a while but it seems more classes are available now which is great. Also, I had to deal with John twice over the phone and he seems like a fair man. So, overall great gym for your workout!

Negative experience: Went here not too long ago and was met in the changing rooms with a fella who said i had narrow clavicles and threw a chunk of bacteria forming in the corner at me. Went home and cried myself to sleep that night. Only thing ill come here again for is to stink up the bathrooms.
This person was never in our gym and anything here is libelous
Negative experience: The cleanliness of this gym is abysmal, machines consistently broken and they make it borderline impossible to cancel a membership. Men’s lockers are putrid to the nose and rude owner who disregards the needs of consumers.
Unfortunately, we will not reply to the detail of this review at this time as we will be taking advisement on the same. We will always insist that our staff and members are treated with respect. We know that the majority of our members appreciate that ethos. Treating our staff with disrespect is absolutely not tolerated.
Negative experience: The most horrible gym I've ever been to...I'm a new customer...so basically no investment, nothing. The gym is in a terrible state, no cleanliness, half of the machines are broken...the interior is on the ground, the walls are falling the bathroom dirty and there are not enough devices for women! Dirty and nasty place!

Sorry to hear you feel this way. Yesterday when you were in the gym I helped you with using the summit trainer which is an excellent workout for toning all body types. I did ask if you needed any other help but you just started your summit session. Apologies if we didn't communicate fully. For full the disclosure, there are 14 pieces of cardio equipment on the floor, 13 are working, 1 is awaiting repair. So 4 treadmills, 3 cross trainers, 1 summit trainer, 3 bikes and 2 rowers. All are awaiting you for your next cardio workout. We also have a Power Plate Max for bone density and muscle tone training which is excellent for all body forms.
We also have 15 weights machines. Only one is not in use. We are waiting for a part from the USA. The other 14 machines are fully functional and available for toning, strength building and general weight training. Further to this our studio is packed full of alternative training items such as kettlebells, medicine balls, core balls, steps, boxing accessories if you want to try a different type if workout.
If you would like me to go through a program designed for you just let us know. We are happy to help.
We have regular daily cleaning schedule in place. We will review to ensure we have high cleaning standards. The Gym is sanitised daily and a clean as you go system is in place.
Sorry if you feel we didn't meet our standards yesterday. We do feel you review is harsh to be honest but thank you for the feedback. If you require a training program just ask at the desk and we will make an appointment to go through exercises and machines that best suit your fitness goals.

Positive experience: The gym is cramped for floor work. Some of the machines did not fit the female body. Having said this, it was great to have the option of a gym. There was plenty to do with the available equipment.
