I’ve been teaching Pilates for over 10 years now. I have always had an interest in health and fitness growing up in the small town of Boyle in the North West of Ireland.  In the 1980’s there wasn’t that much to do if you didn’t like sports, and I loved them all and still practice Basketball and Running every week. I was a carpenter for ten years in London in that time I had developed bad posture in my upper back and shoulders Kyphosis “roundback”  and suffered lower back pain a lot. 12 years ago I started going to Catriona’s Pilates class to help with my posture and back pain thankfully the Pilates really helped me So convinced of how good Pilates was I then trained to become an instructor I studied with the NTC in Dublin and started teaching over 10 years ago. Pilates has changed my life on a physical, mental, and emotional side. Pilates has given me a great understanding of the biomechanics of movement in the human body so much so I am now studying to become a Neuromuscular therapist also I’m qualified in Holistic massage, Kettlebell Instructor, Personal training, and Kayak Instructor. Pilates was originally called Contrology ( “complete coordination of the body, mind, and spirit”) which means controlling how we move. We use our Breath to help us control our movement when we concentrate and focus on our breath and movement together we forget about the outside world.

Fantastic experience: Caitríona & Oliver are brilliant pilates teachers. My experience of their beginner and intermediate classes is that they are well paced and always considerate of people's physical and mental wellbeing. The studio is bright, airy and spotlessly clean with changing / toilet facilities. It's in a very convenient location in Sligo.
