Fantastic experience: I've spent one night in this hotel which was extremely good but I had one little problem there was Renovations going on at the time of my stay which work started this morning at 7:30 which walk us up out of our sleep and also there was construction going on while we were checking in and we had to leave the hotel till the contractors left put out from that a good Hotel

Negative experience: Absolutely shocking behaviour from Blanka tonight at a graduation gathering, she was extremely rude, rolling her eyes, rude tone of voice, sighing and her facial expressions were uncalled for, she is there to do a job that she gets paid for, obviously the lack of training from her induction before she started her position was sub standard, expected more from hotel Kilkenny as two of my daughters worked there themselves a couple of years ago. Blanka is not cut out for the job and needs to be retrained on how to deal with customer or better yet removed from her position as she is an embarrassment to the hotel Kilkenny establishment.

Negative experience: I recently attended a graduation celebration at Hotel Kilkenny and, unfortunately, found the overall experience underwhelming. The food was mediocre at best. What really ruined the experience, though, was our server, Blanka, whose attitude was shockingly unprofessional. She seemed visibly annoyed when asked for basic things, rolled her eyes, and handled requests with clear irritation. For a hotel that prides itself on hospitality, the standard of service was deeply disappointing.

Fantastic experience: Lovely 2 night stay here, room was fab spacious warm and relaxing,best nights sleep in a hotel it was super quite and lovely comfy bed. Bar and food was great. Staff were all lovely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great,very fresh as a plated breakfast so much better than all buffet, service was very busy but all staff were on top of it quickly. Bit of a walk into town centre and taxi was expensive charging us 11.00 for couple minutes drive.Overall great stay plenty to do in the area with good shopping choices.

Positive experience: My family and I stayed here in September 2025. The staff was very helpful and friendly. However, the rooms left a lot to be desired. They had us in an upgraded room, which meant it had been updated. We looked at it and it was facing a big wall. It felt claustrophobic. So, we asked if we could look at another room. We looked at it quickly and it had a better view. So we chose that room. After looking at it more closely, it was rather dirty with very few electrical outlets. During this time, a huge tour group came in and took our original room. So, I guess it was our fault in the first place. It wasn't terrible, just not great.

Positive experience: Nice hotel, not worth the €200 a night though. Could do with a refresh.

Positive experience: Hotel Kilkenny was a good place to stay overall. The rooms were clean, and the facilities, especially the pool and gym, were great. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our visit. The location isn’t right in the city center, but it’s only about a 15-minute walk to most of the main attractions, so it was definitely manageable.

Fantastic experience: Just a 15 minute walk to Kilkenny Castle as well as restaurants and pubs. The deluxe rooms are nice and large and have a patio / balcony. Nice bathroom with tub. The bed was a bit hard and not a fan of thr pillows.

Negative experience: This hotel feels like it was put together from an estate sale. Sparsely placed chandeliers and old-smelling furniture. The rooms are tiny, squeezing three beds into a room that take up almost all the walking space. This is a nice just-an-overnight-stay type of hotel. However, the park for kids in the backyard of the hotel is a bonus for those traveling with kids — a nice playground. We had breakfast there; nothing fancy, absolutely ordinary — the same as in every other hotel: omelet, sausage, toast, cereals, and some pre-cut fruit. However, here there is a server putting the omelet on your plate, which felt really strange. The room was not clear saw hair on the towels, speaking of which, two bath towels for a room that sleeps 4 seems like an oversight.

Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel. Staff were very friendly. Rooms could do with an update, the en-suite was quite dated. I would recommend though, I really enjoyed my stay.

Fantastic experience: Great hotel. The staff took care of our luggage as we spent time in the City. My son enjoyed the pool and sauna. Beautiful place. The charging outlets are across the room not beside the bed so bring an indoor extension cord for devices if you’re using them at night in bed. No electric outlet in the Bathroom. Staff are very friendly.

Fantastic experience: Great find on the edge of Kilkenny, about 20 minutes walk to the town centre. Having arrived pretty early in the rain, we were delighted that the smiley receptionist managed to find us a room we could use immediately. Great room on the ground floor overlooking a nice gardens area. Well equipped, bright and spacious for a standard room. Good bathroom with big power shower. The nespresso machine and the bottled water are a nice touch. On site pool and facilities brilliant. Great breakfast cooked to order with buffet extras. All.staff encountered always happy to help. Great choice and would certainly choose to stay here again.

Positive experience: Overall we enjoyed our stay. We didn't realize the hotel was so far away from town, but if you have a car you can always drive to town.the rooms were nice and clean and the staff felt welcoming.

Fantastic experience: Ran the Kilkenny marathon yesterday. Parked at the hotel to have food after from a recommendation but we weren’t staying the night. We got soaked walking back from the run and decided to ask the leisure centre how much it would be to use their showers. They don’t do pay as you go but Kieran the manager let us use the facilities free of charge. It made our day. We went for lunch in the hotel after and the service and the food was unreal. Would highly recommend.

Positive experience: Hotel rooms are quite dated, beds are VERY uncomfortable. The ceiling had a poorly patched hole and the bathroom had several broken tiles. The shower pressure was aggressive but at least the water got nice and hot. The room temperature could not be adjusted and was very cold. Good location, 15 mins from the castle and downtown pubs.

Positive experience: I was there for a conference which was very well organised. Food was lovely.

Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel with a fabulous pool. The food and service were excellent. My room was comfortable and spacious. The car park, even though large, can be very busy and fills up. The hotel is about 1 kilometre from the town centre so it's an easy walk for the average fit person. The bar is comfortable and bright with pleasant staff but if you are a Guinness drinker, you should cross the road to the Sceilp Inn pub for a decent pint.

Fantastic experience: Stayed here for a Bank Holiday weekend... Nice clean hotel with a great breakfast... Breakfast is not the normal buffet...the tables are actually waited which was nice. Nice pool and health centre. Plenty of parking also at hotel. About a 15 minute walk into centre of Kilkenny . Nice food in restaurant..was busy at Bank Holiday weekend which was to be expected. Recommended.

Fantastic experience: Great hotel. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Specially in the bar. The food is excellent. The leisure centre is spotless and well maintained. The bedroom lacked sockets. The one that was there was in a very random place. Good distance from the bed. The only thing I found it was lacking was a kids club.

Fantastic experience: My Daughter just got married here,,and we,ve stayed in hotels both away and home in Ireland over many years. This is the best hotel I've ever stayed in,,the premises,,the rooms,,the food are all the best I've had anywhere, but the greatest thing about here is the staff..pure brilliant,,each and every one of them. No task too big. You have to check it out. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Even if it's just a meal and drink your after. 100%

Negative experience: A birthday break spoiled by arrogance and mismanagement! We travelled as 2 couples for a birthday night away! We had booked 2 superior rooms and a meal in the restaurant! Upon arrival we were told the restaurant was closed (despite having booked directly only a few days prior to arrival with confirmation) and that food was only being served in the Bar that evening which didn't take bookings but would fit us in, which the first of a few disappointments! Our room was clean and the only issue we had was the bed which was tiny and had a mattress which had seen better days! Having called reception to bring attention to this we were swiftly told that nothing could be done! Having got over that hurdle so to speak and not wanting to spoil the night away we ventured down for dinner in the bar, I met a member of staff who reiterated that they don't take bookings in the bar for food, I explained the situation re our restaurant booking to which he couldn't understand asthe restaurant was open but got us a table! To be fair Ian the bar supervisor was the nicest member of staff we met and stood us a round of drinks for the restaurant mix up and went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed the meal albeit in the bar it was a little noisier than we were expecting! To add insult to injury we had just got our starters when a member of management came in to say they had a table for us waiting in the restaurant and couldn't understand why we were sent to the bar! It all just smacked of mismanagement how could a group that had arranged and booked well in advance be told the restaurant was closed, then for someone to come to tell us a table was ready for us in the restaurant! We made the best of the remainder of our evening in kilkenny city! The following day we tried to bring the errors to the attention of a manager however he was too busy to speak with us, we got a call later that day basically wondering what the issue was despite him being the manager that had come to advise us the table in restaurant was ready! Having outlined our problems with both room and meal, we were basically told there was nothing that could be done and in his opinion the mattress and bed were fine! Making us feel as if we had imagined it! Overall a 4star hotel with 1 star attitude! I rarely post a poor review and don't generally complain and can understand erros can happen, but when they do and the provider feels there is nothing wrong there is an issue!

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff. I have been there on two occasions for work related meetings. Very nice ... high end standards. Did not stay overnight, but maybe next time.

Fantastic experience: We picked this hotel last minute and kind of randomly, but we were blown away when we walked into the lobby. The hotel is so beautiful and the staff was very helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was SO delicious. The room was definitely not as well kept as the rest of the hotel, but it was still clean and decent enough that I would stay there again. Highly recommend!

Positive experience: Our midweek stay here was a disappointing experience. It started with a warm welcome greeting but finished at that. I fail to understand why there isn't a booking system for evening meal. The Rosehill Bar had the atmosphere of a fast food restaurant, rather than the cosy and relaxed atmosphere as described on your website. We were told sharply that we would have to wait 30 minutes. When seated and orders were taken abruptly, only one of the two starters arrived, the other one was completely forgotten about. The main course of seabass was just average. Service was poor and abrupt throughout. Breakfast the following morning was not what one would expect of a 4 star hotel. While service was much better here, the food selection was minimal, no fresh fruit in sight. The room was clean but a little cold. Sadly we will not be returning.

Fantastic experience: Stayed for 3 nights and from the minute we stepped into the hotel we were looked after like Kings. Fantastic friendly staff in the Bar, Reception and Leisure centre. The service in the bar was second to none and Ian looked after us like he would he own Mum. The food was delicious in the bar and could not fault it at all. Overall if your staying in Kilkenny then this hotel is a MUST.

Fantastic experience: I loved it here. Yes, sadly it’s stuffy but it has been stuffy every single hotel I’ve been to in Ireland. It looks like Ireland does not do AC or doesn’t do it well. Even the places with AC were muggy and stuffy. I’m guessing because since it’s a short window of time they need AC that they don’t bother with it. At least the windows open! This was our second stop out of four in our vacation. Best breakfast out of four. Very helpful front desk staff. I thought the bar was nice for a drink. I didn’t order a meal from the restaurant. It is a VERY busy place with tour groups and weddings, so breakfast can get VERY busy. I was worried about the noise of the drunk wedding parties (there were at least two), but to my shock, I didn’t hear any while sleeping. Thank goodness! They were quite loud and drunk when they arrived but late night I slept through whatever they might have been saying or doing. (Side note: KilKenney seems to draw a lot of bachelor and bachelorette parties). I thought the rooms were amazing. Bed was great. Shower was great. Room a smidgen small but bigger than our Dublin room so we liked it! Location is near a fairly long bike/pedestrian path so I was able to get my 90 minute run in easily without getting loss or making many turns. Location is near a gas station convenience store which worked out great for me. I sure wish Ireland hotels would have refrigerators. The gym was WOW but sadly sooooo busy. Understandable because it is a health club with memberships to the public and free access for hotel staff. So, expect a full gym with machines, weights, accessories, and even a fitness room looking area. It was amazing. There was also a sauna, hot tub, and pool but didn’t use those. Locker rooms had showers and direct access to the pool from them. Unfortunately, when I went, it seemed full of young people posing for Instagram. Sad. Can’t we just workout anymore? There is a spa. I wish I had had time to check it out. I think it was 3-5 minutes further from city center than the other places we stayed in other towns, but still walkable and I would 100% stay here again. I loved it.

Positive experience: The rooms were nice and updated, smaller than expected. There is no A/C, you wouldn’t think it was necessary but it got pretty stuffy and hot in the rooms. The window opens but not very much. They provide a fan but it doesn’t do much. The food at the bar was pretty good! The breakfast was not worth it. The pool and gym were very busy due to non hotel users. They did have live music in the bar on Friday and Saturday which was nice. Overall, it wasn’t a terrible experience but I wouldn’t stay again.

Negative experience: How this hotel can be described as a four star hotel is beyond me. Our group of 12 stayed for two nights for a reunion of sorts. The rooms are very basic, the food in the bar is fine at best and the staff are less than helpful often giving unhelpful responses to requests and leaving you to figure out your own issue. The quality of the breakfast is subpar, it's obvious that cheaper products have been selected for the fry and the serving staff are all over the place - bringing tea when coffee was requested etc. Bottom line the rooms are overpriced and I wouldn't stay there again.

Positive experience: It was lovely except we stayed in a room with a sofa bed and it was very uncomfortable so we had to move rooms but the next day we had a very good sleep . Overall it was a great experience. PS the pool was very nice

Positive experience: Rooms were not ready when we arrived at 4…had to wait until almost 5:30 before it was. On the plus side, they did offer a drink voucher for the delay. It appears there is some renovation in progress based on their website. The room I had has not yet been updated and had dated decor, stained carpets, and a utilitarian bathroom. So, I would suggest requesting an updated room.

Fantastic experience: Staying here felt as if we were on one of the nicer all inclusive in Jamaica. Wonderful, updated clean rooms, great bar and restaurant as well, and I couldn't get over the gym and pool. Staff were wonderful to deal with as well. Only a 10 minute walk I to the city center for the sights and restaurants.

Fantastic experience: Rooms are in great condition since the days I worked here. Long time ago now. The grounds are always well maintained, the hotel is kept clean and the staff are well presented.

Positive experience: We only had a quick 2 night stay at this Hotel. It was very nice, clean and spacious. Unfortunately the air conditioner was not working on the entire floor. They did offer to change rooms after I had complained but we ended up getting a plug in heater. Thankfully it was not cold weather. The car park was full when we arrived and when we asked the reception about overflow parking they just said of there is plenty of parking. So my husband had to wit in the car until someone left. Whilst at the Hotel you have access to the Aquatic Centre located next door (walk via undercover hallway) which is also used by the general public. Very large gym which I used but I did not not use the pool. The breakfast buffet was very small but you could also order something from the menu. Coffee wasn’t very nice though. We also ate dinner at the Hotel which was nice but basic food. Quick dinner service and friendly staff. Unfortunately there is no on site laundry for travelers to use. The Hotel is about 10 mins drive from the city center.

Positive experience: The staff at this hotel were exceptional, we were truly impressed. The dinner menu at the restaurant/bar was also very good (sirloin steak and chicken curry were our choices). The pool is large, and warm, which was nice.

Positive experience: Quick bite after All-Ireland Minor Camogie Final in Nolan Park. Handy for parking and just off the by-pass for easy of getting on road home. Quick service, clean bathrooms.

Negative experience: Updated and modern on the front of the hotel and looks great in pictures, however dont expect the same in the rooms, very outdated, very small, too singles pushed together to make a double, TV really small half hid behind the curtain, requested ground floor near entrance, or with a balcony to smoke.. got neither, the non smoker of the group got a balcony you could smoke on.. wouldn't make any special requests as they will be completely ingnored, food okay.. it's cheap.. so get what you pay for. Facilities were great with the pool.. however really busy pool.

Positive experience: Would not consider this hotel a 4star. Asked a question twice when booking in, did not get an answer. Paid 220 a night so expected room to be excellent sadly it wasn't. Flush on toilet had to be wound around to flush, ensuite badly needs a complete redo. Skirting boards filthy. Food not great either. Definitely not 4 star.

Negative experience: Stayed here for 1 night on short business trip, paid 130 for room plus breakfast. Hotel looked really nice from the outside, lobby, reception, bar and breakfast room all nicely furnished and decorated and staff friendly. Breakfast served to table which is always nice. However, had room on the third floor and upon entering the place it looks battered!! doors, walls and everything else badly marked and damaged. My room was 303 and bad smell on entering which i suspect was from the carpet. Poorly furnished and very cheap looking, bathroom was the worse i think i ever seen in a hotel. Cheapest of the cheap. The corridor to the third floor actually has a security card swipe for entering which i never seen before, i suspect this hotel had its problems with stags/hen parties with drunks wondering around the hotel in the middle of the night trying to find their rooms. Bedrooms need some serious refurbishment to justify charging 130 euro, wouldn't stay here again.

Positive experience: Nice hotel but our room was very small and out dated. Not worth €500 for two nights.

Positive experience: The hotel looks nice and fresh. We stayed there for 2 nights. What we found good: location, food taste and portion size. What we found bad: - mattress is like a stone, - the hotel has a function rooms on the top floor and if you are "lucky" and there is a wedding or concert on the night you are staying the music is so loud you can't sleep in your room ( when checking in we saw the wedding party and asked about the noise level but the receptionist informed us that the music will not disturb us in our room; which was a lie and we could not sleep until the music stopped at 2am). - the restaurant staff is a mess. There is a lot of them moving around but it is so disorganized that in order to get breakfast served we had to order it firsts and than nudge 3 times before we were served. The second morning it has repeated, which is confirming it is happening systematically. - the SPA area is not in the hotel itself, so you have to go through the street (forget about going for SPA treatments in your bathrobe).

Fantastic experience: Great hotel, clean and very friendly service. The rooms were comfortable and had all the necessities. The spa was fully booked for days so we lucked out on that.

Negative experience: We weren't impressed at all. Wouldn't stay here again. Definitely should not be a 4 star. The lobby is lovely but the rooms are outdated and badly decorated. Although the beds are extremely comfortable. We were moved from the first room we were in, as there was constant drilling going on, also there was mould all over the bathroom ceiling and a rancid smell. The second room we were in was better, although the radiator made an extremely loud noise, we informed reception and the solution was to turn it off, leaving us in the cold. There was also mould around the shower in this room. I proposed to my partner during our stay, and before we were due to arrive I had rang the hotel to help me arrange a proposal, or if they could do anything special, the lady out was no help and that was that. Most certainly won't be having our wedding in this hotel, and after how I was treated don't understand how this hotel can promote itself as a wedding venue.

Positive experience: Burger drowned in relish. Had to leave half behind. Table looked like a butchers block after... (This was in January) Please put condiments on a side plate.

Negative experience: I would like to share the experience my family and I had at Hotel Kilkenny tonight. From the minute we walked into reception, to waiting in the dining area. We were highly disappointed at the service we were so looking forward to having received at this beautiful hotel. We felt unseen and totally dismissed. We were looking to sit down and have a lovely cup of coffee and dessert and hopefully book into the hotel thereafter to celebrate our 11 year wedding anniversary. The lady at reception didn't look up to acknowledge us until we moved closer despite us having stood and waited patiently. We then enquired about dining, we were then told to go through to the bar area, but the entire time after we had been motioned to an available table, no one had brought us menus or come to serve us, despite a waiter taking cutlery to a table next to us and another clearing a table on the other side of us. We decided to get up and leave to another hotel. I won't know if it was because of the scarf on my head, the fact that we looked under dressed after a fun day out with the kids or the fact that we are from another country, but I definitely won't recommend a visit to this hotel to anyone. Our short stay was definitely not a great one.

Negative experience: I am very disappointed in this hotel. It has nearly 5 starts buy its a 3-star hotel. Our room was okay clean but very cold ,the pool was freezing the steam room didn't work . When we went for dinner, the food was desperate, and i asked for steak to be cooked with no blood it came out nearly alive, and I asked for no mushrooms with it it came full of mushrooms. For the price I paid for the room, I expected more.

Positive experience: Place was clean did have to move rooms at the start a couple of times as it wasn't set up as a twin room but Tony gave me and my mam an upgrade to a lovely twin room beside the lift and the lift is right beside the entrance with the pool which is spotless and opens at 7 am the staff couldn't be more helpful .the breakfast is made to order and not buffet nd it cant be faulted really all the food was immaculate and plenty of it .the drink was good quality Nd although there is a lot of young staff they are all very helpful Nd courteous..I will definitely be back
