Fantastic experience: Excellent hotel, we had a wonderful stay in a beautiful Junior Suite. The hotel is beautiful, luxurious decor and super clean. The staff are all very friendly, special shout out to Maksymillian who was so professional, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious and there was a great variety. Would highly recommend for a relaxing break away.

Negative experience: Me and my girlfriend stayed in this hotel, we had booked the couples deluxe room for one night. The room was lovely so after we had got settled we asked the lady on reception could you extend our stay in this room for us and she told us that is no problem and to please come back in the morning to pay for the room. I showed back up in the morning, and was told the couples deluxe was sold out even though it was promised to me the night before. That was an extreme let down, he offered me a regular room and I asked was it ready, he said yes it is ready for yous to move in to. Reluctantly I took the room, as we gathered all of our belongings and moved them over when we got to the room it hadn’t been cleaned and the beds weren’t ready or anything. We then went back down and he just told us “his system said it was ready” so there was nothing he could do and we had to move all our stuff from ANOTHER room to leave it in the reception. Then when we walked up to get our stuff the room was locked on us! So we had to walk BACK down again and back up. It was a complete mess and we were sent back and forth between rooms for absolutely no reason all because a lack of communication between the reception and house keeping. I am extremely disappointed because it has the opportunity to be an amazing hotel.

This is certainly not the experience we aim to provide, and I completely understand your disappointment, particularly after having received confirmation the night before that your room extension would be possible.
What you described is far below our usual standard, and I want to assure you that your comments have been taken seriously. I have shared this with both our reception and housekeeping teams to review where the breakdown occurred, and we are actively working to improve our internal communication so this does not happen again.
We genuinely appreciate your kind words about the room itself and your recognition of the hotel's potential. It’s very disappointing to hear that this situation overshadowed what should have been a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Negative experience: Honestly was there for a team breakfast before a match. Cold coffee and tea,ran out of scrambled eggs,toast was cold even the fresh toast when we asked for more....poorcservice all around

Negative experience: The service in the spa is totally appalling, done in a rush, not even colours to choose from and such an unprofessional finish of the gel polish, a waste of €30. Upon booking your staff in the spa should advise the customer of the lack of colours availability. Definitely not coming back again, as it's the second time.

Positive experience: Finally getting around to writing the review of my three night stay. Directed to multi story car park on the site where €1,200 worth of damage was caused to my car. Not enough CCTV to find out who did it & hotel refused to contribute to repair cost. Rooms fine, restaurant fine, car parking not so good. Small 'yard' beside hotel as well for parking, exceptionally tight and wouldn't have confidence in it. Stayed in a different hotel on my latest trip there.

Positive experience: Great night last night staff are great only thing that I felt was a bit off was we were going on a work night checking in the guy was amazing so nice and helpful we were at a work night I asked if we were on the the same floor the lady that was sitting next to him cut across him and said there is no changing rooms I never asked for a room change, if that lady was annoyed by a question that wasn’t directed at her time for her to change jobs, expensive enough to have a night away without that negativity but five stars for that nice guy Checked in at 245 on Saturday please have a word with the manager

Fantastic experience: Myself and Five friends went to a Christmas show and we stayed the night in this hotel. From booking to the night of the ABBA show and leaving the next day was a great experience. Nothing was a problem for the staff. They went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. Food, Show, B&B was excellent. Would highly recommend this hotel for any occasion. I have stayed there on several occasions and I have never been disappointed. Staff were so helpful and so professional in every way. Easy to see they all love working in this hotel as they were all smiling and happy. Positive experience: Poor 3rd party rundown carpark next to hotel, dont give free parking just small discount to guests and no EV chargers! Room was small for a couples room and not a great layout and a bit tacky (only opinion someone eles might love it), altho was spotless I have to say! Sorry :( service was very slow when any issues came up altho staff were very freindly!

Positive experience: Family of 4- 2 adults and 2 children 4&2 booked this hotel for 1 day with their 4course dinner breakfast included room stay. 1. Convenient location - hotel situated just across the city scape which is convenient (super valu,Tesco,or any shops within 2 mins walk radius available) 2. Parking - External company managed Parking space is adjacent to the hotel, exit the hotel and walk to the next car park building (if car parking is not included in the pack it will be 16€ -ours was included) 3. Excellent food both dinner and breakfast(non oily hot food) continental are self service and excellent pan cake machine. Note:Dinner Steak is 8.50€ extra even if it’s included in the 4 course meal menu. Kids will have their own menu. Non alc beverage 6:50€ was dear. 4. Water station kept in each corridor to refill and use. Best thing happened? Vanessa at the dinning service,she was the best. Caring, showing respect and compassion to the workplace and to customers. Lost car parking card but Colum sorted it. Overall experience was mixed. Tummy felt good with the food but mind felt ok with a 4star rated being overlooked for certain basics cleanliness aspect.Would recommend the place.

Fantastic experience: Stayed in the midlands hotel twice and both times it was perfect rooms are modern and clean food: I had the steak both times and as good of a steak you would get in a top restaurant You can see it is a well run establishment staff seem happy and are very professional and prompt in the restaurant and make you feel so welcome at the same time. Negative experience: Car Park is a joke, ticket machine doesn't work and didnt work for the person in front of us in the queue either, and after having to walk up to reception from the far end of the car park around 11pm the night manager and staff hadn't the cop on to just open the barrier over the intercom after already putting us out but instead made us walk all the way up there to charge us also. As for the prices of the carpark a complete rip off! Wouldn't be back ever again to this place. Not a chance. They haven't a clue about customer service.

Fantastic experience: Fabulous hotel, I haven't actually stayed here so can't comment on the rooms. I've attended a few conferences here, the facilities are excellent. Service and food also amazing. Paid parking available beside the hotel in a multi story car park. (Maybe they have free parking if you book a room) Great spot overall.

Positive experience: Met some people here for a get together with dinner, Room was a bit dated, Meal was good tho player was not exactly overflowing with food, Service ok altho when the server was removing glasses they spilt custard on the table and no attempt to clean it up. Would only go back if i had to.

Positive experience: Fabulous hotel. Service was amazing, all staff were great at their jobs. Beautiful hotel. The only issue was Sunday morning my partner and I went to pool for a swim and it was too busy with swimming lessons and parents watching through glass window. It wasn't very private and relaxing but hotel was top quality

Fantastic experience: I stayed at this hotel for two nights attending a conference this week. Every staff member is so kind, friendly and helpful. Shauna Boxwell is an outstanding worker. Fantastic experience: Friendly helpful staff. If you're driving anything bigger than a car you will have to use the outdoor carpark which can be a bit tight especially if you have a long vehicle.

Fantastic experience: We had workshop in the hotel and the room was well occupied and the service and the staff were great. The WiFi connection is great. I stayed for a night as well. The room was spacious and bed was very comfortable. The dinner and breakfast have a variety of options. The swimming pool was great and clean (don’t forget your swim wear and swim hat).

Fantastic experience: Absolutely lovely Hotel, beautiful, have everything needed and more and the staff is wonderful, everyone so polite, helpful and kind, the Receptionists, the waitress/waiter and everybody else, at the Breakfast that is delicious and complete we were attended by a Brazilian waitress called Patricia, such a polite, serviceable and lovely girl. We went to a wedding there and everything was perfect! Also, my daughter loved the swimming pool. We recommend 100% and looking forward for another opportunity to come back!

Fantastic experience: Honestly the most attentive and friendly service I've ever experienced. From the front staff to the cleaners to the restaurant. Loved it. We were spoilt rotten. Absolutely lovely spa weekend. Pool and sauna are fab. I found the treatments overpriced but it's a separate beauticians to the hotel. Beds perfect. Shower perfect. Breakfast choices superb.

Fantastic experience: Stayed here on Tuesday and I have to say it is one of the best hotels in all of Ireland , North & South.....I travel extensively for work and can tell you that the staff especially Ann- Marie ( front desk) & Sarah went above and beyond the call of duty to make my stay one to remember for all the right reasons....I cannot thank them enough for the professionalism they showed me and would give them both 10 / 10 without any hesitation , both of them a real credit to the hotels workforce. Food was excellent, rooms big and spacious and the Pool / Sauna/ Jacuzzi were all up to a very high standard.....I will 100% be making sure I stay here again when in the area. ☆☆☆☆☆

Fantastic experience: Waow, so nice looking Awful service in the evening. Nobody in pub but 2 hours waiting for a starter and a maincourse. My driver, some of my clients in the other restaurant and me we never got our dessert!!!!!! Many persons to serve but were just talking and laughing together without serving clients. Fantastic experience: We had a fabulous 2 night weekend stay here. Cannot fault the room, staff or service. Food was lovely and excellent breakfast choices. Big thanks to Daragh Cruise who sent a welcome package to our room for our daughter Ruby. Only one minor thing in the swimming area, is the floor in the changing room is very slippery as it seems to hold the water but pool and amenities were lovely. We would 100% return.

Fantastic experience: Attended a wedding there recently..from start to finish..staff could not accommodate us as a family enough. Considering we had a young infant and a teenager,nothing was impossible for the staff. We have stayed previously in the hotel as a family,but it was our first time with our infant son. Positive experience: 4* for a 4* but I have to say it gets a 5* if you go for the deluxe rooms with jacuzzi and ambient lighting. The basic rooms aren't really all that and the room my parents stayed in had a futon with metal frame in the middle of the room Still the facilities, staff, and location are all brilliant and it is a stay I recommend despite the few disappointments.

Negative experience: I have stayed at this hotel for a total of 3 times - and each time something had gone wrong with the rooms we’ve booked and/or our dinner reservations. Our first visit in 2022 we had booked a couples deluxe room - beautifully laid out room, clean, but when I attempted to have a shower within 2 minutes the entire shower had flooded out onto the floor. We called reception who came up and resolved the issue. When we went down later that day to try and get lunch and weren’t acknowledged for about 10 minutes at entrance about 3 staff members passed by before someone eventually came out to us. when we tried to get lunch the lady and a man standing at the computer outside didn’t even bother to even look up and acknowledge us while we were standing there or even had the curtesy to say we’ll be with you soon we’re just in the middle of something. Instead they left us standing there just to be told eventually that they’re fully booked. After emailing about these issues regarding the room and experience one of the trainee managers rang and apologised and offered for us to return to the hotel at a discounted price to try rectify the issue. Fast forward a year later 2023- we returned to the hotel we booked a standard room online, but as a surprise for my partner I upgraded us to one of the suites on the 1st floor. Again, beautiful room. However when I turned on the aircon it started to leak water all over the floor! To rectify that issue we just had to put a bucket underneath to catch the water as they could not fix the issue within the 1 night stay we had which is understandable. As courtesy they sent up Prosecco and refunded the upgraded price I paid. Not a major issue but still we had issues on our last visit also with our room as stated previously. Now in 2024 we came back for my own birthday and booked the couples deluxe room again- it was actually the same room as we got in our first stay. Firstly there was what looked to be brown tan stains left on the toilet seat? Then I tried to fill the jacuzzi bath but the bath plug wouldn’t stay down and it kept draining anytime I tried to fill it up. So I called reception and the ladies on reception I cannot fault they were really lovely and a maid was sent promptly up to the room to check. The maid couldn’t fix the issue either so she said she would message the duty manager. So I sat in the room over a well over an hour to see if anyone returned - nobody did. My partner had to go down to reception again and ask was there any update on fixing the jacuzzi bath to then the manager came out apologising and asked us to switch rooms and sent up Prosecco to our new room. This was already near 7pm and we had dinner booked for 8:30pm so I didn’t even get to use the bath after being in the room waiting from 5:30pm. We then went down to our prepaid dinner reservation, staff were really nice and friendly in the restaurant. We had our starters and mains which weren’t great at all, but waited for 30mins for our mains to be cleared so we could order our prepaid dessert. Eventually we stopped a waitress and asked could we order our dessert now to which the maid replied ‘Sorry the chefs have finished up for the night’ I’m sorry it’s totally unacceptable at least ask staff to come to tables to notify the chefs will be closing the kitchen soon and ask to take a preorder! Plus the fact we waited for 30 mins for our mains to be cleared!! Thankfully another waitress had overheard the conversation who then went to her manager who got us our desserts that we had paid for. I’m just extremely disappointed with each stay something always had to be wrong with the rooms especially with the price you pay for the stay. It’s just a shame because the hotel is situated right in the centre of the town. I can’t fault the breakfast, reception and most of the dinner staff as they were all lovely and friendly

Fantastic experience: Met up with an old college buddy of mine in portlaoise and he took me for lunch in the Midlands restaurant after I landed up from cork. Fantastic experience: This was a lovely stay, surpassed expectations. Much nicer than we expected. Didn’t make it to pool but heard it was nice. Were there for an event and the hotel staff did phenomenal job servicing it. Charter Bar fun place to hang out.

Positive experience: A good place to get a bite to eat or a coffee and cake. I have never had a bad experience with the food here. It is comfortable and clean. I would recommend you book on weekends, it can be very busy at times.

Positive experience: Fabulous hotel for food, good service etc. Our bedroom was lacking in that there was no bench on which to put a suitcase (but there was space for one) and in the bathroom, there was no counter by the sink for a wash-bag and the usual toiletries. This is a small complaint but the price is too high not to point it out.

Positive experience: At a family function for a birthday party fabulous room staff and service was excellent. The only thing I found confusing was that the hotel website advertised free parking but to get your ticket validation was an ordeal told it wasn't free parking by staff at the reception but I emphasised it's advertised that customers have free parking. Eventually after alot of discussion at the reception desk they validated my ticket . It's the principal for me just a simple thing don't say you have free parking facilities when you don't

Fantastic experience: Stayed at this fabulous establishment on Good Friday, from arrival to check out we were well looked after. We arrived at roughly 2pm and the whole process was seamless as the hotel was well staffed in all areas and there was still a great selection of fresh food left in the carvery at that time and the portion size was very generous too, a good feed for great value. Our room was tastefully decorated and 10/10 for cleanliness there wasn't a spec of dust or a thing out of place, the view from the room was excellent I was able to trainspot for the evening before heading out, I had the best night's sleep I've had in years so need to get in contact with accommodation to see where the mattresses are sourced from as it was like sleeping on a cloud. The staff ensured that Prosecco was organised for our room and I thought this was such a lovely touch, it definitely didn't go unnoticed or unopened. The breakfast service was second to none Susan and all her staff are really just out on their own and build a lovely rapport with guests, the continental breakfast was well stocked, the hot food was ordered from the table which ensured it was fresh and it made all the difference, all hotels should do this. We went and used the leisure centre, the changing facilities were spotless and modern and so was the swimming pool itself. The hotel itself is in an ideal location, it's walking distance to all the local pubs and shops which also have a great atmosphere. This hotel would make the perfect venue for any function and definitely somewhere we'd consider getting married. We are keeping the best thing until last, every single one of the staff are a fantastic asset to the hotel, they made our experience so pleasant that we literally didn't want to leave, other hotels could use the Midlands Park Hotel as an example of how hotels operate!

Positive experience: Lovley hotel we were on a girls night away ireland rugby match was on we went into the bar to try watch it but all tables were reserved all empty I'd think 3 tables were occupied we were told there was another bar open in function room with a projector was OK we got to see the match but the fact u can't go into the bar and sit without pre booking a table would turn me off bar staff were very friendly and we could of sat up at the bar but there was 5 of us and only 2 free stools

Positive experience: Great hotel very busy was here for 70th birthday weekend and hotel dose not keep area in the bar for people staying in hotel we were asked to leave tables a number of times resulting in us leaving the hotel to have a drink also our room had a wheelchair shower room with chair gates we did not ask for it or need it had to use my mums shower as gates leaked do much water and gates were a nightmare to use was alot of messing around to get a wash and the bed was two singles pulled to together and they spilt open each night not what any couple wants food was great breakfast was super staff were great and pool area was super

Positive experience: I’ve been staying here since it was originally The Heritage. Along with the change of owners the hotel went through a massive renovation. It’s one of the best hotel renovations I’ve seen in Ireland. The decor throughout the hotel is very nicely done. However, I do feel soundproofing rooms should have been done especially if you are at the front of the hotel. The last few times I haven’t been able to sleep well due to the loud music coming from the town. If staying I suggest getting a room at the back of the hotel and avoid the weekend if you can. For our last stay our room was also right beside the stairs so as well as the loud music there were people banging the doorway to the stairs. Between the hours of 1am and 3.30am I couldn’t get any sleep with the noise. Food is always nice no matter where you choose to eat in the hotel. The breakfast has one of the best selections I’ve seen. Staff are very friendly and helpful all throughout the hotel. The leisure centre is great. The Midlands is perfect all round for any occasion. Whether it’s a celebration, family get together or just a relaxing night away for two. I understand the car park is a different company but it is annoying when a sign is shown on every level for lifts only to find that it’s not all levels. We have twin babies so we were forced to go down the ramp with buggy as we couldn’t take them out along with all our luggage. Signs say no pedestrians on ramp but they didn’t give us any choice considering there wasn’t a lift on our level. They should only have lift signs on the levels that actually do have access to the lift so that we could have parked on a different level. Other than that everything else is perfect.
