Negative experience: Unprofessional and inconsiderate staff, recommend to avoid. Refund for cancellation confirmed over the phone with the hostel but was actually refused when I requested it. No valid reason provided.

Fantastic experience: The Abbey Court Hotel is a great place to stay when looking for a good place to stay at a reasonable price. We booked directly through their website and got the best price that included use of the gum & pool as well as a fantastic breakfast. I have given the rooms & service 4 stars only because I have had better at other (significantly more expensive) hotels but there was nothing to complain about and the hotel and bar have the feel of a quality well run establishment. Plenty of parking and a short drive into towm. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will return if the opportunity presents itself

Positive experience: I don't know where to start my comment. What's good is a large room for a family with children. A beautiful estate, in an old style. But we were shocked that a tourist who came for an overnight stay cannot have dinner at the hotel, and there is nothing with food nearby. A depressing city, after sunset the place is not cozy, not a tourist place at all. The rooms are normal for this place. Not much has been updated in the room, but clean. This is a place only for an overnight stay, and nothing more, no tourist value.

Fantastic experience: Went here for dinner to celebrate my mams birthday, we were at the bar area. We reserved a table for 11 people. The food was beautifully presented, comforting, and flavourful. Highly recommend the steak sandwich and the beef. The service was excellent. The staff - young and friendly, were extremely attentive that would rival any high-end restaurant. We were served by a lovely girl named Brónagh, who was very polite and professional. Thank you for the amazing food and service!!

Negative experience: While the hotel looks quite nice in the photos, it's a different experience in person. It definitely needs an update and some maintenance. The hot water pressure is decent, but the cold water barely comes out of the faucet. The room and bedding were clean. However, the furniture is old, the bathroom fixtures are outdated, and the safe is broken - it pops open whenever you open the closet door. A nice little 'bonus' was the chewing gum that a previous guest left on one of the paintings. Don't count on the pool or restaurant if you arrive late. We got there at 8:00 PM, only to find out that the kitchen stops taking orders at 8:45 PM and the pool closes at 9:00 PM. We were told we could easily order delivery from local restaurants, but they all had the same early closing times—before 9 PM. So, if you show up hungry, hoping for a meal and a swim, you'll be disappointed on both counts. Our only option was a trip to McDonald's in the not-so-charming town where the hotel is located. On the plus side, the price was very reasonable, and despite these issues, I'm generally ok with my stay.

Positive experience: We recently stayed here for a small family reunion and it was a very nice weekend and we were treated very well. The staff were very helpful.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly receptionist, friendly and helpful staff at the restaurant and bar. Food so tasty. I had slow-cooked beef, and my husband had a sirloin steak; both were so soft, and the gravy was delicious. Thank you. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: The chairs in the meeting room I was in are a disgrace. Stains, chewing gum and burned holes from the times were probably indoor smoking was allowed. Not 3 star like.

Fantastic experience: I often go for coffee here when I'm in town.... The coffee here is absolutely amazing and there is a girl called Mary working at the coffee dock and she is absolutely brilliant at making coffee and she is so friendly and just brilliant at her Job... I highly recommend

Fantastic experience: My first time staying there last night and it was exceptionally good. I was staying for work but will be back with family. Best gym and leisure centre I have been to in a long time. Gym had all the best equipment, pool was big and so was jacuzzi with an excellent steam room. Food was as good as it gets and overall the staff were first class, especially reception. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. Also the room (317) was top notch.

Fantastic experience: Well done Pawan, you have perfected the Flagship meal, your steak was to perfection!.( My second this week) Credit is due in large part to Seán, a superb chef, always striving to train up chefs, change meat suppliers and do what it takes, to get the restaurant the credit it deserves. They are a wonderful staff, the ever diligent and engaging AJ Managing the Bar and restaurant, waitresses like Anna caring and professional, Cian in the bar a superstar, always serves the perfect pint! I have remarked to Brian the Hotel manager a number of times, how lucky he is to have such a wonderful, genuine and enthusiastic staff. Donna is running breakfast service, always pleasant and charming, greeting each guest with a warm smile, breakfast starting with their freshly squeezed orange juice, breakfast always tasty, sets one up perfectly for the day. Thanks to the behind the scene chefs, who also create wholesome and tasty lunches, particularly the lamb and beef dishes. I am in my forth of six months staying here, and find it a real home from home experience, throw in the wonderful sports and swimming facilities, it really is a great hotel for short and long stays....plus I highly recommend Pawan's steak, which no doubt will be a trademark meal for the Abbey Court Hotel. Positive experience: Stopped for dinner here with my family. Nice meal, great service. Menu had a good selection. Children got the pizza. It was a bit heavy on the tomato puree unfortunately. All the adult meals were lovely.

Fantastic experience: We booked a table in the carvery restaurant for a family dinner for my elderly mother’s birthday. Our waitress Aisling was very friendly, professional, helpful and efficient. She discretely arranged the surprise dessert treats with candles for my mother (and 2 other family members present, who also had recent birthdays). Aisling's pleasant demeanour enhanced our family occasion. The food was delicious and there was a lovely lively atmosphere in the restaurant.

Fantastic experience: We stayed at the Abbey Court as we were attending an event in Nenagh. All staff were attentive, friendly, and helpful - went the extra mile. The room was clean, comfortable, and cosy. Everything worked, which is always a bonus. The hotel is in a handy location for the town and easy access to local motorways.

Fantastic experience: Went to the hotel on Monday for just some lunch passing through visiting a friend, we had excellent service from a girl who worked in the lobby area making coffee. She was so accommodating for us as we had our children with us, unfortunately I didn’t think of asking for her name. She sterilised my baby’s pacifier and gave us a pot of hot water to warm our babies bottles with. The atmosphere in the lobby was so nice with friendly staff all around. Huge thank you to the team in the Abbey Court !!! We had sandwiches and soup and both were delicious. Highly recommend this lobby coffee area.

Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel good food and reasonably priced

Negative experience: Had dinner here last week, it was not great. The service was slow and the food over priced. My wife received her slightly better than warm meat and then the waitstaff came a couple minutes later with her side dishes. Almost 20mins went by before I had to ask someone where my burger and chips (which cost €20 mind!) were. I told them if it wasn't ready don't start cooking it now as I don't want to wait longer. It came 3mins later with no apology. When we went to pay and the overly bubbly manager on duty took payment and asked did we enjoy our food we said it was ok she said thanks I cooked it myself I asked if that's why my wife got her food 20mins before me and she said "it is yeah. Whooo, go on the girls, down with the patriarchy" To which neither of us responded and just left. Total lack of professionalism there, I would never dream of talking to a guest like that when I worked in the hotel industry. The place has obviously gone down hill since dropping the "Great National" from the title. We we're booked in to be married here back in 2020 (but couldn't due to C19,) and every interaction we had upon visits there and the over night stays we had were great but now I will be hard pressed to darken their door ever again

Positive experience: Very nice looking hotel, outdoor areas are amazing, beautiful places outside with benches, trees and stunning flowers. Very impressive when u driving in. Lobby area is beautiful, lots of places to sit around and relax. Service ok, we had to ask for more towels and water. Rooms are not the best, very basic, old looking, little bit shabby looking, need some TLC. Overall not too bad for 3stars hotel, just rooms need a bit of work. Excellent location.

Negative experience: Check in time said 16.00pm (which is already quite late). Upon arrival the room still wasn’t ready. There was a 30 minute delay on the room where i had to wait in the lobby. There was barely an apology never mind any form of compensation offered after paying 200 euro for one nights stay at the hotel. The room could definitely be a bit more done up for the price.

Positive experience: Background Music too loud , Bar is dark very little natural light, no where to relax a way from disco music, good choice of beers on offer, but only one small TV for the football in a small area with people trying to eat and yes music drowned out the TV, staff are lovely friendly and helpful.

Positive experience: Rooms were very clean, if not a little dated, however the shower was terrible, it shot water up to the ceiling which would then pool and drip down for hours... the staff were incredibly helpful, my trousers ripped for a wedding and they had a sewing kit to me in 5 minutes! Fantastic experience: On our coach tour we all had full breakfast buffet at Abbey Court - really lovely, with a great selection and lovely and freshly cooked, nice and hot too! The staff were well trained and efficient and very pleasant.

Positive experience: Easy to access from Shannon Airport. Welcoming on arrival. Each area of hotel is identified wet different colour carpets. Nice addition of a coffee outlet in the foyer. Striving for a grand style for a 3 star hotel but needs more attention to detail especially with decorating. Great breakfast, access to leisure facilities for guests. Plenty of parking and nice pub attached. A special mention to Sarah and colleague in the hair dressing salon attached to the hotel who were superbly friendly and professional.

Positive experience: booked a private room for a Christening.. food fabulous. staff assisting fabulous and courteous. very helpful. .. we had children present. asked could I bring in 3 large bottles of minerals. was not allowed. explained it was expensive for the parents to pay e3 per drink for 3 to 4 children each, still was not allowed. sadly, after 2 hours we were asked to vacate the room( 4pm to 6pm). 2 couples had booked into hotel and around 8pm were asked to leave the foyer. they went up to the room to chat!! ABBA tribute act were in hotel that nite. was a good way to the bar for drinks. a bit disconnected from function room. not really child friendly. no empathy for costs on parents.

Fantastic experience: Spent 2 nights over the weekend with baby and toddler. Huge family room loads of space. Easy access to pool, which had a lovely children's pool, a normal pool and large jacuzzi. Fabulous. Food in the bar was fantastic we ate both evenings and it did not fail to impress. Staff were lovely so helpful. It's not easy with a baby and toddler but they weren so helpful both in the morning at breakfast and in the bar. Breakfast was fresh I had full irish one morning and French toast the next and it was beautiful. Its cooked fresh not buffet. Playground next to hotel so its a great place for family get away. Il be back if not for the food alone.

Positive experience: Very disappointed. Attended a ticketed event at the weekend. Had no seats and ended standing at the very back of the venue with my daughter. Couldn't see or hear anything from the stage. Manager requested us to move to another wall as access was required and as we paid the same as everyone else I was not impressed. The hotel however looks beautiful.

Negative experience: Was allocated a connecting room. Asked to be moved immediately on check-in. Hotel didn't accommodate. As predicted room next door was noisy. Spoke to Peter the next day. No gesture made. Won't stay again. Had tried to preempt the issue to no avail

Positive experience: A really good meeting place. Not far from the motorway. The bar food is good and the coffee shop in the lobby is excellent. I cant speak highly enough about the leisure Centre and the team there.

Fantastic experience: The customer service provided by this hotel is the best I've experienced in a long time. From the moment we arrived, the staff were nothing but friendly and helpful. Every member of staff that I interacted with from reception, management to the bar staff were incredible. Our room was on the ground floor, but we didn't hear anything from the foyer or from the wedding happening in The Ballroom.

Positive experience: Over priced for what it is. Reception were a bit snotty, no idea why. It's a decent, regular hotel, not a luxury establishment. Staff were mostly good. Decent amenities. Well located in the town.

Positive experience: I suppose it depends on the day you go like most places these days. Went to the bar to order a coffee and a water in the evening time and it was one of those very uncomfortable experiences where everybody around you gets served regardless of whether or not they were there before you and you're left standing there debating whether or not to just walk out, which I would've done had I not been attending a meeting. The coffee was good. When I did get served the server was harried and the bar was not prepared for service which was obvious when 3 to 4 people had to wait for change by either standing around again or going to sit down and wait for somebody to bring change. Very young bar staff.

Fantastic experience: We had a lovely, friendly experience with a barman named Josh. He was very polite and a great character. He operates at high speed and with great efficiency. I would definitely return to this hotel purely by the great hospitality we received from this fine young gentleman. The rooms were also very nice. Would definitely recommend.

Negative experience: For a Wednesday night €129 for 1 night was expensive for 1 adult incl breakfast. Secondly see pictures below to see how clean the shower with stains on the wall and some brown thing on the back of the inside of the was fridge. I have marked the stains on the shower wall with a coloured line to make the stains stand out as the camera didn't pick them up clearly. Most of all that disgusted me was the cover of the toilet had FECES stained on it. Also the door of the freezer that was part of the fridge had a red stain on it. I asked for a room in a quite part of the hotel. There was movement going on in my corridor up to after midnight. It wouldn't have been anyone staying in the rooms next to me because the rooms were marked as interview room 1 and 2 and 3 control rooms. Then there was alot of voices and doors banging in the morning as these rooms got prepared and used. Top of my room corridor was a board room which commenced around 9am Very disappointed with the standard of cleanliness of the room definitely has put me off from staying here again

Fantastic experience: Had a short family break here and although it may be 3 star , the staff , food and location make this a fabulous place to stay. Had food from the bar on three different occasions and it was faultless. Bar staff were extremely friendly (shout out to Callum) and nothing asked was too much . Pool was clean and warm . Short walk into town and a kids playground right next door to hotel. Keep up the good work Abbey Court we will be back !

Fantastic experience: This was a great restaurant experience. The atmosphere was classy. Staff was very attentive as every staff member asked us how we were doing. Food portions were excellent. Salad, chicken and chartreuse board were beautifully plated. Prices very fair. There was a small band playing at the end of the night which was cool. So overall we loved it.

Fantastic experience: Stayed with 3 sisters on the BFF package. Can’t recommend it highly enough. The staff were just so helpful and kind. The treatments were fantastic and the food top quality. Will definitely be coming back very soon.

Positive experience: First time visiting this hotel, and here for a wedding. Such a beautiful location, and the grounds of the hotel are just stunning and really well maintained. We went for a stroll and came across the most unique feature - a marquee in the middle of the garden. Such a wonderful idea and perfect for any kind of party. The hotel itself was pretty funky, with loads of lovely quirky features and loved all the gothic window and doorways. and loads of it. However. the biggest asset to this hotel is it staff - so lovely, helpful and great fun - a must visit if you are looking for something a little different.

Fantastic experience: Update: 8th October 2023: This hotel just gets better and better,everything is on another level...food,rooms,atmosphere and staff....the staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming,friendly and great fun. The Abbey Court is fast becoming my favourite place in Ireland ❤ What a gem of a hotel! We stayed for 1 night but wish we'd booked for longer. Beautiful place,newly renovated in most areas,very tasteful. The food was out of this world,the sirloin steak was melt in the mouth!! Had a gorgeous massage in the onsite treatment rooms...complete bliss! The pool,sauna etc were amazing. Honestly can't wait to go back,we got a wonderful welcome from wonderful staff. I predict this place will be booked out for months ahead in the not too distant future. Don't miss out!

Positive experience: I had soup and a hot chocolate here. The service was decent here. We didn't have to wait for a table even though we hadn't one booked. The vegetable soup was delicious-not too salty, wholesome and fresh and the bread was lovely too. Unfortunately, the waiter had to make the hot chocolate for me the second time. I never asked for marshmallows but they were on top and I had to refuse it because they're not suitable for vegetarians. I didn't make a song and dance about it as it was a genuine mistake and I was served a hot chocolate minus the marshmallows moments later. The staff were pleasant and I enjoyed the food. I can't comment on the rooms as I haven't stayed there.
