Positive experience: A well equipped hotel in an amazing location right on the lakeside. Plenty of outdoor activities for kids and two restaurants plus bar. Rooms were comfy, maybe too warm at times and too cold at others which was slightly annoying. Unfortunately, the service let the hotel down. The only friendly staff member was the young woman at reception who checked us in / out. The bar staff seemed uninterested and busy talking at times. Manager on reception told me check out is a FIRM 11am (the standard checkout time in Ireland is midday) even though I explained we had a small baby with us who would make it hard to checkout on time with. She even said to me at one stage that staff would be entering the room at 11am, basically saying that they would force us to leave, whether we were clothed or not didn’t matter to her. Eventually after a bit of near pleading, she allowed us to stay “until an ABSOLUTE MAX” of 11.30. This really made us feel unwelcome, and rushed out at an otherwise quiet time.

Fantastic experience: This is a superb hotel. The food is amazing. The leisure centre is excellent. Most of all though are the staff, who are so friendly, efficient and helpful. Irish hospitality at its best.

Positive experience: Booked the weekend here with my best friend and I have to say, the views are outstanding and the atmosphere was amazing. The food in the bar was gorgeous and the service was good but not being able to charge anything to my room left me feeling untrusted and extremely disappointed. The staff did clarify that this stopped due to Covid and it just hasn't started up again which is fair enough. But I do believe this should've been mentioned before or when I was checking in. It left me wondering why does the hotel take my card details if i can't charge anything to my room? Especially since I'd already paid in full. As for the room, when I first entered I noticed the stains on the counter underneath the TV. Not a very good first impression. There's no safe so I couldn't put any valuables or keys away. No mini fridge, lights full of dust, bedding not very fresh, under the beds not hoovered and the shutters don't close properly as they're missing parts and let the light in. The beds are comfy but not the duvets or pillows. I woke both nights with the cold, checked the radiator, heating not on, took the duvet off the other bed and threw it over me as well. The pillows are sweaty, small and hard. I couldn't use them. In the bathroom there's no hand rail for towels at the sink. Clean towels constantly put for wash cos they kept falling off the toilet onto the toilet brush. The tap doesn't move so it was awkward brushing my teeth and the height of the bath is way too high for me as I'm only five foot nothing I really struggled stepping in and out! The breakfast is definitely worth it. The staff are well organised and always on hand to help.

Fantastic experience: I was really impressed with the hotel, it was perfect for a family weekend. There was 17 in our extended group, and we were all impressed. The food was really good, the interior decoration was very quirky and I loved it. I've stayed in many beige hotels and I appreciated that this hotel went with a bolder style and did it well. It was busy but there was lots of staff on and the service was excellent. I loved the bedrooms, again bold decoration but really well done. We went for a walk on the Belvedere Estate and it is really beautiful and well worth a visit. I will definitely go back and would recommend.

Positive experience: About a month ago I had the pleasure of spending time at this remarkable location with my friends. The surroundings were truly beautiful, offering stunning views that made the stay even more memorable. The food served was excellent, adding to the overall enjoyment of our visit. Additionally, the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, which contributed greatly to the outstanding experience we all shared.

Fantastic experience: My big classy room had small windows. But the room was lush

Garry O'Hara 2 months ago

Negative experience: Lovely hotel and surroundings. The front of house staff are pleasant but that's where it ends. I thought I was on an episode of Fawlty towers. We were a group of 10 adults and 10 children and they could not coordinate food been served the kids got wrong meals and some adults ended up having to share their food as the kitchen either forgot the full order or over cooked it . Actually the adults that gave up waiting for food were the lucky ones. I decided to hit the sack after a few drinks only to find that the band that were playing in the bar were directly below our bedroom. I still have Springsteen ringing in my ears. Would I recommend this hotel? Well if you have the unfortunate circumstances of ending up in this hotel, I suggest you drive to a takeaway and sleep in your car.

Fantastic experience: Service was dreadful as the plates was put in front of our daughter who is only 1 years old and was in a high chair plate wasn't even put on the table to which I thought was totally wrong and out of character of the server. He was rude and abrupt and didn't care. The food itself was good along with desert. The female staff that attended to our needs were on the ball and very helpful.

Negative experience: We stayed at this hotel for a wedding this weekend and, having spent a significant amount of money here, we were left extremely disappointed by the service, particularly that of the night porter and receptionist. Around 3am the night before, we requested late check-out and were assured this was “no problem” and that reception would be informed. However, at 11:02am housekeeping knocked on our door, and shortly after reception rang to say late check-out could not actually be accommodated. I explained to reception that I had just come out of the shower and would need a few minutes to get ready before leaving, which reception said was fine. Yet within five minutes, another staff member came to the door insisting we leave as soon as possible. At check-out, I raised my concerns and explained that if late check-out was not possible, we should have been informed before 11am so we could plan our morning better. The receptionist’s response was simply that “the night porters are very busy” and “do their own thing,” which felt dismissive and unprofessional. I understand that night porters are busy, but passing on this request is their job. He took note of our room number and assured us that he would pass on the request. It is not our fault that they ‘do their own thing’. There should be a better process in place to mitigate this I f that is the case. As we had to leave the hotel earlier than anticipated, my partner had to drive to a nearby leisure centre to have a shower, as we had to come back to the hotel to attend day two celebrations and had no place to get ready. Overall, the miscommunication between staff and the lack of accountability by reception caused unnecessary stress on what should have been a special weekend. We were left extremely disappointed and would not stay here again.

Negative experience: Two words - sweat box! Room looked nice, recent enough refurb I'd say but no air con. The hotel did have a fan in the room but honestly it just blows warm air around the room. We had to take the duvets out of the covers to use for sleeping, which may I add had huge stains on one. You also can't have the window open as there are mayflies due to the lake. There is a blind inserted in the window but still let's a lot of light in, adding curtains would be nice! The outside area is nice with a view of the lake and has a good kiosk with lovely coffee and ice cream. You can order food from the bar out there too. Terrible set up of the bar and restaurant, instead of using the area in the back for excess diners they pack everyone in and there's nowhere for anyone to sit who would like to have a drink or watch the football. Food is also awful. I feel like there's a lot of false advertising with this hotel. We booked it thinking there was loads for kids to do. The only things in the hotel for them is the pool, which is a bit of a nightmare and the kids club. Kids club -HA, your child can have their dinner in a room with staff for €15 then they can colour or go for a walk!!! Breakfast is a complete s#*tshow. Tiny area, food runs out so quick, constant replenishing needed, even the coffee machine runs out. The "continental" selection is rubbish. Daniel the bar manager was very nice and is wasted in this hotel. Most of staff are nice but upon arrival we weren't told anything about the hotel bar where are room was. Needless to say, we will not be back.

Fantastic experience: I had my wedding reception on August 7th in the Bloomfield. We booked it just shy of a year out after deciding to go to a wedding showcase last minute. We dealt with Abbigail throughout the whole process from initial booking right up until final details meeting. She was a pleasure to deal with and answered every single query no matter how small. I also dealt with Joanne in the lead up and she was more than accommodating. On the day of the wedding we had Emma by our sides who genuinely is an absolute star, she couldn’t possibly have done any more for us and is so on top of her game. The day went so smoothly. The food was second to none, everyone said they were stuffed after and had amazing things to say about the beef. Whoever was able to stay up had bacon butties and were only delighted with them! The efficiency of the whole day was just amazing. All the staff were so friendly, from reception to waiters to bar staff. Everywhere was clean and tidy, small details were not missed and I just felt in the best of hands. Even the decoration of the place just made our day feel like a dream come true. I genuinely couldn’t recommend the Bloomfield any more. I’m devastated it’s all over but had the best day ever, wouldn’t change a single thing! Can I do it again??!

Fantastic experience: My favourite hotel! We got married here last year and have stayed here numerous times. I can’t put into words how amazing this place is. Rooms are spotless, the grounds are lovely and the staff are out of this world! From the reception staff, to the bar staff, to the cleaners, everyone greets you with a smile and makes you feel welcome and at ease! Special mention to the two Sharon’s that work here. Amazing ladies this hotel is absolutely perfect for family getaways!

Negative experience: Buckle up….its a long one. We stayed at Bloomfield in one of their Family 2+4 den rooms very recently. We had some MAJOR cleanliness issues!! On arrival to the room it did not look like the beds had been changed, they were untucked and quite messy and upon checking had dried grass and crumbs in EVERY bed! There was also a mold stain on one of the sheets. We asked for this to be sorted and after returning to our room a while later noticed only ONE bed had been changed. We had to ask again for the remaining to be done, which eventually happened quite a while later. While waiting for the beds to be redone we then began to notice other problems. There was a thick layer of dust on top of the kettle and elsewhere, like it had not been cleaned in WEEKS!! The table was so filthy we actually had to clean it ourselves. Upon further inspection more, to our disgust, we discovered long dark hairs clearly visible on the tile wall in the shower. Disgusting! The sheets had all been changed now and would you believe, one of the “fresh” pillow cases had a full blown black shoe print on it. We relayed all of this to the reception and they could not be more apologetic. It was quite late at this time and as we waited for the bar manager to arrive to our room to discuss the issues, to our absolute shock and disgust we then found…..TOENAIL CLIPPINGS all over the floor under the table. And later discovered hair clips under the desk also. The room clearly had not even been hoovered! Someone was sent up to hoover immediately and thanks to the lovely bar manager we were issued a refund of our first nights stay and a voucher for the bar. After all this…to make matters worse the following day after the room had been “cleaned” the hair on the shower wall was still there and the floor had not been hoovered again!!!! We did not get offered a new room or even for the room to be thoroughly cleaned. I ended up washing the hair off the tiles myself which took 2 seconds. Ridiculous! Also, the room we were in had an awful view of the dirty roof which was grim to say the least. Yuk! The big garden out back also stank like sewage! You can’t make this stuff up. Not worth the €498 we paid in the slightest. The thing is, the staff in the hotel were all lovely and so apologetic, there was a lovely atmosphere and the food was great. It’s such a pity the cleanliness was so appalling. We will not be returning that is for sure.

Fantastic experience: My mum saw an ad on facebook about Bloomfield House Hotel, Leisure Club & Spa, they currently have a special Summer Glow Deal with 3 treatments, I didn't have high expectations to a hotel in Mullingar, but oh my God, was I impressed! My mum and I had the best experience! the ladies that looked after us were amazing, professional and did a very very good job. Food at the bar/restaurant was 10/10 despite the crazy busy wedding party Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and swimming pool was a bliss and it also has a nice area outside with mini bar where you can buy snacks, drinks & making it a perfect spot with kids to enjoy a beautiful day in and out! Also even little kids are aloud in the swimming pool with parents Definitely recommend

Fantastic experience: From start to finish a truly wonderful experience. Reception staff, to bar staff, to waitresses, house keeping to leisure centre staff. I could not fault a thing. Everyone was so pleasant and accommodating. I was staying with my 1 year old, it was my first time away on our own without extended family and everyone went above and beyond for us. A special mention to Sharon in the bar/ restaurant a true joy to be around. The gardens/grounds, playground for the kids, leisure centre, kids club also, entertainment in the bar too was great. This hotel has it all and I highly recommend if your considering booking this hotel, go for it. You won't regret it. The staff really made my visit one to remember. 10 stars, I'm looking forward to my next visit already. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: What a fabulous place. Wonderful staff, whether on reception, in the bar/restaurant, cleaning, groundskeepers, and even the window cleaners. Everyone had a smile and good wishes. We arrived to our room to discover we had been upgraded. Unreal. Menus in the restaurant change daily, so if you are going for more than one night you will not be eating from the same menu. We didn’t use the spa as we were wanting to travel around and visit the sights. Included in the stay is a day pass to Belvedere House, Gardens and Park. Just ask at reception and they will give you the pass. What an amazing place with an incredible history, highly recommend. The grounds of the hotel are lovely and car parking is free and spacious. The hotel is just a couple of miles from the town of Mullingar. Easy to get to. Thanks to all the staff in this hotel. We had a wonderful stay and can’t wait to return

Negative experience: Booked the room a year in advance. Lovely room. Very modern. Only down fall was it was located beside the left. So we heard lift with all the late people going to bed and the early risers going for breakfast. Unfortunately I experienced a Really rude bar staff member that was so rude with every order and I’m particular one order. Didn’t think staff like this existed in such a beautiful setting. Fantastic experience: Here for dinner with the family. Excellent service, always friendly here and easy to get looked after. Also plenty of seating available - inside our outside (it was a nice summers day) Went for a burger and some veg with a pint of Smithwicks. Food was great - might not look the best but believe me it tasted excellent - good wholesome food and well tasty. Nice portions, and everyone was happy with their food. We decided to venture out after the food and relax on the lawns overlooking the lake. Good views and a nice atmosphere. Great for families, in fact great for everyone to enjoy. Can also get some ice creams and coffees and other refreshments outside. All in all Bloomfield never disappoints. Great management and service, in the best location you can have in the midlands. Recommended. (only negative was the wifi wasn't working - but on a lovely summers day that was not such a big deal)
