The Active Ennis Leisure Complex is a complete indoor health and fitness arena with White Flag accreditation, providing pool and gym-based activities for all individuals and clubs in Ennis and further afield.
This award is based on the European Blue Flag for Beaches and is operated by Ireland Active. Active Ennis Leisure Complex received its National Quality Standard Accreditation in 2001 and has retained it continually since then.
Our goal at Active Ennis Leisure Complex is to provide the best disability services, which we are recognized by Ireland Active as a leader in this pursuit. We engage with various disability groups throughout the County on what is required to ensure that our facilities are evolving with the needs of the disabled community.
Disabled toilets, designated disabled parking spaces with signs displaying our telephone number that people can call should they require assistance entering the building, designated lockers at wheelchair height, wheelchair accessible gym equipment, poolside hoist, wheelchair ramp allowing access to the sauna and steam room on poolside, emergency evacuation chair, changing room hoist, wheelchair height counter at reception desk, wheelchair shower chair, wheelchair located at reception for use if required, Alter G Anti-Gravity Treadmill, Motomed Machine, Aerobic classes tailored towards the immobile and disabled client and an Audio Frequency Induction Loop System at the reception desk.
We offer 90 minute fitness tests with individual assessment and programmes provided by fully qualified fitness instructors. This service is free to members. Non-members can take the test and have three further visits to the gym for â¬50.
Active Ennis Leisure Complex is widely recognised as the centre of excellence for swim lessons in Clare. Our team of instructors has vast experience teaching adults and children at all levels from beginner to competitive swimmer.

We provide swimming lessons for schools, under the Primary Aquatic Water Safety Programme, accredited by Irish Water Safety. In addition, we offer intensive lessons for children during school holidays.
Aqua aerobics is a fun, energetic, low impact class. Suitable for all ages and levels of swimming with an instructor on deck to demonstrate the moves and music to keep you moving! Â See timetable for times and prices.
Our Childrenâs Birthday Parties are fun-filled and offer great value in a safe and healthy environment. Price is â¬12 per child for a two hour party. We supply everything apart from the birthday cake. That means invitations, swim time with fun inflatables, hot food and free return swim visit for the birthday child. A Party Coordinator is with the children at all times to ensure their safety and remove your stress!
We have a large spacious hall available for class hire as well as a meeting room. These are available at very competitive rates with discounts for long term renters.
These operate throughout the school holidays and are suitable for 5â10 year olds. Activities include swim lessons, fun time in the pool, fun aerobics, outdoor and indoor games, arts and crafts and much more. Cost â¬60 per week.

Active Ennis â Leisure Complex has for many years had a great association with water safety and with the Lifeguard Service in particular. Many of the lifeguards who have guarded the beaches of Clare over the years availed of their early training in the pool.
Water Safety Classes are offered by Clare Water Safety for all levels – these classes are taught by recognized Irish Water Safety Instructors and Examiners. Please refer to clarewatersafety.com to book directly with them.

Negative experience: Grand facility in a way, but the place needs a far better cleaning regime. Pool changing rooms, showers and sauna aren't really clean as you'd expect.

Fantastic experience: Great facility for the community. Overall it's the best package in Ennis for what you get. Gym, pool, sauna and steam room. My main focus is the gym which is well equipped and clean. They have equipment for everything including lower back which is sometimes overlooked. Equipment is well maintained. Free parking. A v-bar for tricep pushdowns and other exercises, as opposed to the rope or straight bar, would be a nice and cheap addition. They've managed to fit a good bit of equipment into the space. Staff are approachable with questions also, well worth a visit. Priced reasonably.

Positive experience: They're very up-to-date with the whole covid situation. Sanitation between every pool visit. Make sure to get out of the pool early if you need to shower. Try to shower at home if possible.
Positive experience: The Weights Gym has decent array of Equipment after recent refurbishment and its well maintained and tidy. Instructor often absent from Weights area for lengthy periods which is big problem for anyone needing assistance and the number of young teenage users that clearly need direction. I don't use the Aerobics area so cannot comment on that. The Swimming Pool is always busy so that's a good sign. The Changing facilities are badly in need of upgrading with crumbling wall and floor tiles, missing roof tiles and unhygienic looking shower area, big let down. Also Steam Room and Sauna rarely operational. Rating would be better if the issue of Changing Areas upgrade and Gym Supervision were addressed.

From the usual treadmills to the latest time trial bike there is enough to get you in shape and loose some calories. Or if you want to build muscle there is free weights and also machines. When your finished you can relax in the sauna or steam room or maybe a dip in a pool . Well worth the visit and in the words of a famous Austrian I will be back.
