Negative experience: Pros & Cons of Icon Gym Pros Excellent selection of gym equipment and fitness classes. Friendly and helpful staff. Generally a great gym experience. Cons – The Swimming Pool Situation The swimming pool is poorly managed, with too much focus on private lessons and classes—primarily for non-members, some of whom I know personally. Finding an open lane for swimming is often a challenge, especially during lunch hours when classes take up the entire pool. School breaks make it even worse, likely due to school visits. Weekends are even more chaotic. During family swim time (which is only available on weekends), it's not uncommon to see 12–14 people crammed into a single lane. Small children struggle for space, and parents frequently voice their frustrations. For adults, the situation is just as frustrating. There’s typically only one designated adult lane—if it’s not already being used for private lessons. Even then, it won’t be offered to you; you’ll have to ask an instructor, which can feel awkward and uncomfortable. I've personally shared this "dedicated" lane with up to four others at a time. Meanwhile, a third lane is always reserved for private lessons, often with just one or two participants—most of whom aren’t even members. Meanwhile, paying members are squeezed into the remaining two lanes, making swimming a frustrating experience. The pool used to be fantastic, but ever since the gym prioritised non-member lessons and classes, its quality has rapidly declined. While I fully support swim education, the problem here is poor management and the complete disregard for members. This isn’t just my opinion—it’s a common complaint among regular gym-goers. Usually in the sauna, where people go because they can't get a place to swim! Final Thoughts If you're looking for great classes, friendly staff, and well-maintained gym equipment, Icon is a solid choice. But if you’re joining primarily for the pool, look elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Been a member for 6 months now, love the community/family feel, you're never treated like a number. Haven't done classes yet, but the gym area is superb, never had an issue with access to equipment when I need it. Has definitely helped me become fitter and stronger over the past months.
