Club Vitae Cork (Maldron Hotel)

Negative experience: Visited there during weekend break in Cork. Really needs renovations. Very out of date from front door to reception and throughout, no coin system or locks for lockers unless yiu buy a lock for €15...madness! jacuzzi wasn't working, a strange smell in the steam room like wet washing left fat too long in washing machine, showers/toilets were dirty as were the floors near steam room/sauna, floors very slippy, water dispenser broken. I actually showered once back at hotel (not one attached) as I felt dirty coming out of place and couldn't use shower there as dirty. I wouldn't go back or recommend

Negative experience: Won't be attending club vitae Shandon anymore, place is filthy, theirs always something broke, it's not worth the money when u can get better gyms cheaper, manager Katie is very rude and ignorant I think this is down to my ethnicity,

Positive experience: Pool area/steam room could do with attention, front desk crew are very nice.

Negative experience: I didn't renew mymembership as the whole leisure experience was bad, in the gym lat pull down machine was broken for many months, anything brakes it just not fixed quickly, same like jacuzzi, steam room or sauna brakes constantly. Changing rooms definitely not clean as suppose to be. For the price members are paying it should be way better maintained.

Positive experience: The gym is small but always clean. The pool and jacuzzi are amazing plus the sauna. Some employees close the gym at 7:45 pm instead 8:00 pm as it is advertised. Rosana who is also an employee there is great. But if your time is tight, you would probably miss 15 min a day because they close before it’s announced.

Negative experience: Decent gym to be fair. The 7 or 8 young lads that come in after school sitting on all the equipment, vaping and taking off their tops posing off with each other comparing their noodle arms puts a real dampener on the whole place. Also the three that bring gloves and pads and take up the entire core area shouting and blaring their own music ruins the atmosphere. Nearly knocked me over when they were dancing around each other. Staff do nothing about it either when mentioned. Fair enough people have the right to use the gym but it visibly annoys everybody else and it gets quite uncomfortable in there. It’s a hotel gym not Mickeys Boxing Club

Negative experience: Nothing really working as it should. Jacuzzi was cold, steam room and sauna were mildly warm. One of the plastic grills from the bottom of the pool was just floating about the pool, leaving a big hole in the bottom of the pool. Pool was small, so even when quiet it felt like there was a lot of people there. Price was advertised on website as 13 per person, was charged 15 instead, plus having to pay 3 euro per person for low quality swim caps, which really make no difference considering I have a beard?? Felt a bit like a racket bc of that. Just disappointing really, nothing done well at any point

Negative experience: I've been going to the pool for the past 8 months, there's always a problem with this place. Everyone is complaining about it and nothing is done, I've talked to people who's been member for 2 years and 4, all said the same thing. When it's not the steaming room being out of order or the jaccuzi it's something else, and for ages. The jaccuzi has been "in maintenance" for 3 weeks already. Before that the steaming room was out of order multiples times as well. It is unbelievable that nothing is done for it, that we do not get email or any indication of the ongoing issues. When I was paying up front for the day I was never noticed up front of the services not being available. Some people's are saying this might be to avoid cost, I am not saying it is, but I wouldn't be surprised. I have a subscription so I am still going but it is unbelievable to pay anything for a place which advertise services they don't provide. Someone said the subscription went up from 325 to 400 euros ( student membership I think) because of inflation, there's no such thing, as inflation when you just don't even turn on the jaccuzi or steaming room, youre definetly avoiding cost and any kind of major inflations fees. Lack of professionalism, hygiene and standards.

Negative experience: There’s always something broken. Sauna was in renovation for almost 2 months, machines at gym are broken or very used. Now the AC is broken for over 2 weeks now. It’s super humid, water is dropping form anywhere and no apology was made by staff or any refund offered to members. Don’t recommend ! Awful product offerings for the price you pay.

Negative experience: Machines are broken, time schedule is terrible everything is so bad at this gym! AVOID AVOID AVOID! And the most frustrating, they say that it closes at 7:45 and they kicked us out 7:30 pm! Bye bye never again at this

Negative experience: Poor attitude of staff members. You cannot predict what would be broken today. “Out of order” is the company logo. Dirty water in the pool, old equipment, broken jacuzzi, homophobic personnel. Cannot recommend at all!

Fantastic experience: Excellent leisure centre! Better prices in cork City!

Positive experience: A very nice leisure centre and swimming pool.the staff are helpful and friendly, You don't have to be a member to visit.(t&c apply). One slight downside Is a lack of baby changing in the men's changing rooms. We will be back again.

Positive experience: Only been here half a month. If you want to not get in anyonez way best Time to go is early in the morning. I tried going about 5 in the evening and it was very difficult to do a full workout. The locker Situation is my one concern only because If you don't have a key your trying to workout but in the back of your mind your just hoping your stuff will be OK. Other than this the staff iv met all good people so yeah good place but I find it useful in the morning time only. But I'll renew if they fix the locker Situation

Fantastic experience: The Maldron club Vitae is exceptional and the staff is friendly and helpful. The pool here is kept at the perfect temperature and for every hour swimming session they spend 30 minutes thoroughly cleaning the locker rooms, toilts, etc. During this Covid crisis it is nice to feel safe.

Positive experience: the staff is doing their very best in pool area to make all welcome and enjoy it. I go every day and would reccomend it.
