Motivated Fitness (HAMMER STRENGTH) Gym

Fantastic experience: The gym has a good selection of quality equipment. But very limited car park.

Negative experience: I have been going to Motivated Fitness for as long as I can remember now (probably 6/7 years with breaks in-between) and this is my full review as I have left the gym for good yesterday. When I first joined Motivated, I was really happy with the equipment and amount of hammer strength machines that they had. It was all great at the beginning until it went downhill. Unnecessary purchases by the gym owner, heavily neglecting basic gym equipment for years now, and much more. My frustration grew more these past few months with the recent announcements with yet more unnecessary purchases. This seems like a huge misallocation of funds from the owner. Firstly, I believe everyone will somewhat agree with what I have to say about the state of the toilets in the gym. Year after year, it gets worse. Constantly smelly whenever someone goes for that number 2 as there is no adequate ventilation nor is there a window there. Most of the time, you will not find soap in the toilets and the hand dryer does not blow great at all.The toilets are also downstairs and the changing rooms are upstairs - usually with my experience in gyms and facilities, these are in the same room for ease of access. However, this may just be something small I am nitpicking at. One day, the owner decided it would be extremely beneficial to buy 6 big plasma screen TVs and slap them on the wall. Mind you the TV has genuinely been turned on like 6 times over the course of 7 years. Again, a waste of money. To this day, there is still grass growing inside the gym paired with a good chunk of dust everywhere - cleanliness of the gym overall is appalling to say the least. Dust on almost every machine. About a year or two ago, the gym purchased a useless chest machine that's located near the entrance which no one uses and I mean absolutely no one. Again, a waste of money. Another point is the gym layout and overall design - the space is not used efficiently at all, most of the machines are crammed in each other thus making it harder for people to exercise and having to wait some time for the person to finish their exercise. A prime example is, there are silver dumbbells located right next to the shoulder machine so when the shoulder machine is in use, no one can conveniently access the shoulder machine. There are also other machines that can be in better places. I would have personally hired an interior designer or architect or whoever deals with these things and have them layout the gym for ease of access. Recently the gym purchased a tanning machine which is located on the ground floor next to the toilets - my opinion? Again, a waste of money. There are plenty of tanning salons in Douglas mind you which people can avail of. Additionally, since this is located on the ground floor away from the changing rooms, it makes it highly inconvenient yet again. The space between the stairs going up is always crammed as it seems there's a second changing room beneath the stairs - this area can be used for hygiene products and the bins. The bins - there are 2 bins located next to a machine which is unhygienic and most of the time, I have to close the lids out of courtesy. The other bin is hidden away from everyone at the back for them to "discover it". Inconvenient place yet again. The tissue dispensers are not even utilised as the tissue is located above the dispenser - so what is the point if it's not going to be used? Again, this is me nitpicking but I am frustrated. The cardio machines upstairs are almost half broken and some of them don't even work. The cardio machines are also dirty and some of the machines are rocking from side to side which is unsafe. They are using small plates to balance it out instead of fixing it correctly in the first place. Seems like there are a lot of things done "half right" in this gym most likely to cut costs. Recently the gym introduced a highly-secure entrance system which genuinely looks like something from a federal prison. I have a lot more to say but limit reached here... do not join this gym, don't recommend it anymore.

Negative experience: I used to train there for years, and i know everyone there. The equipments are very closed to each other, there's only one toilet, and usually it doesn't work. The gym is very dusty, not clean, it's impossible to get parking space. Glenn was harrasing me,and he told me that he would get me barred, i told them, they covered for him, then they kicked me out the next day. They made story up and they said there's 4 people don't like me, because I am neurodivergent. Then they blocked on everything. They have never acknowledged my complaint against Glen. And I have ongoing case against them. I don't recommend this gym, and the hostile environment to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Was up here recently to use the studio for a shoot. The studio and gym overall was fantastic, great selection of machinery and good music too. The staff there were very friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend the gym!

Fantastic experience: Recently did a photo shoot at Motivated with Emma .. what an amazing experience. Emma could do enough for me to guide me and make me comfortable and confident. Everyone was so helpful . The studio is really private , such a good space for a shoot . Will definitely be back .

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym in Cork with a massive selection of hammer strength machines (and a few good Panetta machines) and free weights (dumbbells go up to 70KG). Definitely a spot if you want to properly train while in town. Day pass is reasonably priced at €10 and they offer a variety of protein shakes and other items. Staff working there are friendly and helpful. My favorite gym while working out in Ireland (this spot blew away the gyms in Dublin).

Negative experience: Oh What a shame. Used to go here a while back and I can honestly say it was the best, came with a friend lately as I was thinking of joining but omg how the place has fallen.it is filthy dirty. The mens locker room was dark and dirty I was afraid to have a shower (or should I say a Bath as the water was filling the tray) as you would have caught a disease from it. The staff seem to just be sitting behind the desk with zero interest. Its such a shame as the equipment is good but again a paint and a clean would go along way. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. There are far better run gyms in cork. Who ever the owner is has obviously given up investing in the place and is just taking all the cash out. If someone opens near to it they would be out of business overnight.

Positive experience: Has the equipment u want and more so, also needs Giant Aircon, damn it's hot in there

Fantastic experience: If you’re ever worried that you’ll be the smallest guy in the gym, just train when I’m there! Best equipped gym I’ve ever been in, haven’t had to wait on anything. 1 month into training there and well on my way to being the 2nd smallest! There’s another review here calling the place a paradise and I fully agree, I usually dread getting up early to train but drive in excited each time! Staff and clientele are all sound!

Negative experience: Really great gym with fantastic equipment and great atmosphere! Staff and members are friendly, besides one member - this juiced up gayboy, I think they call him, "Creg", that is always smoking his vape in the gym and never unracks his weights and doesn't unload any machines. Other members complained to staff, however nothing has been done about this situation after multiple complaints - this has been going on for months now. Quite disappointing as this gym is know for it's friendly atmosphere and like minded individuals.

Fantastic experience: The best of the best, I can't think of a better gym! Top class equipment, machines for any type of exercise you can imagine, adequate weights for all levels (beginners to pros) and it's a paradise! I don't live close but I rather drive to get here and get the best out of my workouts! Also has a good range of supplements for sale and the staff is well prepared!

Fantastic experience: Brilliant gym great facilities. When I first got felt very welcome and was introduced into all the equipment. Really enjoy being in the gym now. Feels like a second home.

Fantastic experience: Was vacationing in Kinsale for a week and was unable to find a decent gym nearby. Found this place (27 minute drive) and contained all the equipment needed for a power workout. Great atmosphere, friendly, and helpful staff. No complimentary passes offered, but it was an affordable €10 day pass. Definitely worth the money. Would highly recommend it to any gym rats wanting to lift weights. My research revealed most of the other gym's in the area tailored to cardio and cross fit minded individuals.

Fantastic experience: Incredibly friendly and supportive staff. Always a hello and a quick chat on entry. Top quality equipment, lots of machines, fully stocked fridge, supplement store and coffee dock. Highly recommend paying a visit be it a first timer or experience gym goer.

Fantastic experience: Best gym in cork. Never seen this much equipment in any other gym. So for a beginner like me, it's like heaven where you don’t have to do squats with a barbell . But the best thing is the environment you are surrounded with the best people all highly motivated and helping. Highly recommend

Fantastic experience: David Murphy I can't agree with your review. I am a member here and the staff and owner here are extremely helpful and their interest in their members cannot be faulted. Yes its a busy gym so there is going to be wear and tear on the premises. But I think you are focusing on a few petty issues rather than the bigger picture which is the equipment. Members and staff which are the best in Cork.

Negative experience: This was the best gym in Cork by a long shot. But the lack of interest by the owner and investment in the building is really showing. The gym floor is ripped and dangerous. The mens changing room is dark and filthy. The room upstairs which was the only place for abs is now always closed due to been used for posing clients. The owner seems to be more interested in his own competitions abroad than investing in the gym. Seems that what our membership is funding this rather than the reinvestment. I passed a comment on their Instagram page about this and rather than addressing my concerns they blocked me Chris Casey you are entitled to your opinion but I am just calling it as whati think it is a badly run establishment. And again they hadn't the courtesy to reply to me about what I said because they know I'm right

Fantastic experience: I’ve always liked to keep fit but I’m not really a gym person. However I decided a few months ago to join Motivation fitness gym and luckily I met Jules and started personal training with her. She is amazing at what she does and I now really look forward to my training sessions. She is really knowledgeable and pushes you to the max. I love the feeling of strength that I’m achieving and the way my body is changing through lifting weights which I now realise was never possible to the same level with the other forms of exercise I was doing. I’d highly recommend Jules as a personal training, she is truly transforming my physique through her training sessions and I’d highly recommend this gym as all the equipment is top class. So thanks Jules for everything and I’m excited to see where I can get to.

The owner is a gent and will help with anything you ask. Constantly working to improve the gym to suit the members. Keep up the good work. Fantastic experience: Joined the gym 6 month ago and loving it! Great atmosphere and all the equipment you could possibly wish for. I have been training with Jules 2-3 times a week and she has been great! I have joined several gyms in Cork before but never enjoyed training as much as I do with Jules. It's a great feeling training with someone who really cares about your progress and is there for you and supporting you on your good days and the days you need the support to keep going (LEG DAYS). I am so happy I joined Motivated Fitness as I have never enjoyed going to the gym and working out as much as I have in the last few month! It's not just a gym but more a community of like minded people all just doing what they love and really supporting each other along the journey. I have joined a lot of gyms over the years but i won't be going anywhere else now.

Fantastic experience: I wasn't much of a gym person and was very overweight and needed to join a gym. I knew motivated fitness was a very popular gym and I was actually afraid to join because I felt like if I joined a popular gym that people would be watching me and I would be judged so the main reason I joined was because the location suited me. I couldn't have been any more wrong! Ivan (the owner) is the most welcoming business owner I have ever come across. Every time I enter the building he chats to me about my progress and you can tell that he actually cares. I didn't know much about using machines etc. And every time I struggled another gym member always helped me out. It's the first time I have ever joined a gym and kept going to it consistently! Highly recommend giving it a shot!!

Fantastic experience: This is the best gym I’ve been to, and it keeps getting better. I’ve been doing PT sessions with Cian, and the results are phenomenal. I had gotten very unfit, doing the odd gym session on my own, and generally not feeling good. The PT sessions were just what I needed to get started on a journey to better living. Cian motivates, educates, and in general, is helping me transform my attitude as well as my appearance. I would have no hesitation recommending this incredible gym, and the best PT sessions available in Cork.

Fantastic experience: Motivated Fitness is hands down the best gym in Cork. The range of equipment both cardio wise and resistance wise are second to none. I especially love the hammer strength machines and mag grip attachments. In addition to this the atmosphere is great. All members are on the same page in regards to self improvement in both fitness and mental aspects. The owner, Ivan, is also such a great guy and can't thank him enough for providing Cork with this amazing place. It's easy accessable, free parking and not an expensive gym to join. Convenient and cost effective all in one, what more could you ask for ! Don't hesitate to join you won't regret it.

Fantastic experience: Not another gym like it in cork, the owner is an absolute gent always full of encouragement and so down to earth the staff are top level always trying to help, equipment second to none, and a non judge mental atmosphere, people in there helping each other and encouraging well worth a look you won’t regret it
