Dublin Buddhist Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Pavara is an amazing Iyengar yoga teacher and this lovely centre has all the equipment you need so no need to bring anything! Having trained in Iyengar yoga myself for a time, I am always in awe of his creativity and the sense of flow he manages to create in each class. Pavara's safe, precise guidance and ability to adapt poses using equipment to suit individual needs is second to none. I highly recommend trying a class here, which happen to also be the best value I've come across for years (10 class pass for €100 currently, with no expiry!). They also run wonderful yoga and meditation days which are well worth trying out.
Fantastic experience: I have been attending yoga classes at the DBC for about 7 years now and I can honestly say it has been nothing but a positive experience for me . Pavara (yoga teacher) is without doubt the best I have ever experienced. Having suffered a neck and shoulder injury in the past it was Pavaras care and instruction during yoga class that enabled me to continue practising and what eventually got me back to a full recovery. Its a wonderful class that provides clear and concise instruction, tailored to our needs and is accessible to all levels . It really is a joy! I feel so grateful to have found such an amazing teacher and space to practise!
Negative experience: Sadly I had a disappointing experience at yoga today and won’t return. But hopefully it improves.

Fantastic experience: I love the Dublin Buddhist Centre. I always feel very welcomed whenever I attend an event there. I am never disappointed with the level of knowledge that the teachers display. The atmosphere is just very warm and makes me feel nourished and happy. A big thank you to the DBC team for all you do!
Wonderful! Thank you!
Fantastic experience: A very good and amazing meditation experience. I visited here 1st time and people were very helpful and guided me. They made seating arrangements and also helped me with mantras. I absolutely loved this place and a must go place for meditation ♂️
Great, glad you had a positive time in the DBC!
Negative experience: For 24 years I've done every variety of yoga except for iyengar. In that time, the only time I ever missed classes was when I broke my foot or the 2 months break for covid. And while I prefer ashtanga or hatha flow, I am ok with restorative, when I need it. This was an Iyengar class. It wasn't the style of the yoga that I disliked, it was the instructor's excessive control issues. He seems to have a serious OCD problem and no understanding about how to teach so that participants come away with a positive experience. I don't recommend this instructor to anyone. This man stopped the class until everything and everyone was perfectly lined up. No pose deviations or modifications were allowed regardless of personal preference or physical necessity. For example, I don't need or want to sit on a bolster because I like to extend my muscles as far as I can to get a good stretch. Not with him. I wanted to cross my legs in a natural position for me, but because he has a restricted range, I was forced to attempt to put my legs in a position that matched his, and I couldn't do it very comfortably because my range is better than his. I am accustomed to doing whatever modifications I need, or ignore positions I don't want to do for my own personal reasons. Not with this guy. I didn't want to be disruptive and so I was trying to do everything the way he wanted it done, but when he was proposing a bridge pose that any physical therapist would tell you is it absolutely no no, I declined. I told him what modification I was planning, and he insisted on one of his. It also caused me to have lower back pain and I did it for as long as I could and then I had to stop. Everyone's got a line and I had had enough. I could go on, but all I can say is there's a reason why he only has six students in his class. And as for him, I recommend a high dose of an anti-anxiety medication before he loses all of his students.
Fantastic experience: Highly reccomend this centre. See website. Friendly, welcoming place.
Thanks!
Fantastic experience: I love the buddhist centre, used to go fir meditation and yoga before the pandemic. Best yoga teachers you can definitely find! Plus, you can feel the humble and calm environment there. Hopefully everything is back to normal soon.
Great, thanks for the positive review! Glad your experience was so good.
Fantastic experience: Dublin Buddhist Center is the perfect place to meet yourself. You will learn how to meditate or continue with your meditations while you meet great people and learn about budhist teachings in a peacefull and easy going atmosphere. I highly recommend to visit the center for information or for a metitation experience, it could really change your life.
Thanks Javi!
Fantastic experience: I always leave a DBC course/group much happier & more content than when i arrived. The DBC team and the community are a lovely group of people, good place to go for meditation and spiritual reasons.
Thanks Shane, glad you found it all of benefit.
Fantastic experience: The centre’s online courses, offered during Covid on a donation basis, continue to add depth and meaning to my experience. A warm and welcoming atmosphere at the Centre itself; a host of friendly and helpful staff members. The DBC deserves all the support it can get.
Thanks Sam!
Fantastic experience: Great place, excellent meditation courses and brilliant yoga classes. I work in the area and the lunch time yoga is brilliant for me.
Thanks Neal, glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic experience: For a solid grounding or also more advanced retreats and courses in meditation, for beginners or anyone who wishes to continue or deepen their practice. There is also a variety of yoga classes available. The centre has a relaxed and informal atmosphere and they have some great teachers! I would highly recommend a visit or two.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant community with welcoming and friendly people
Great, thanks Paul - The DBC team
Fantastic experience: Super classes held here.
Fantastic experience: Love their yoga!
Fantastic experience: An oasis of calm and tranquility in the centre of Dublin. Every time I go in I shift gears and find the much needed peace and contentment. Maybe this is why I miss it so much if I can't attend the centre in a particular week. The people running it and attending it are welcoming and genuine. If you are drawn to Buddhism and/or meditation in any way do drop by!
Thanks Angeles. Glad you appreciate the centre.
Fantastic experience: We've been to Pavara's yoga classes and have always benefitted greatly from them. Would highly recommend….Paul and Maggie
Great, glad you found them of use! Vajrashura
Fantastic experience: I did the introduction to meditation course here a few years ago and it's safe to say it changed my life. The course itself was excellent, very clear instruction from friendly easy going teachers in a relaxed and beautiful environment. I've been meditating ever since and it has had a very positive effect on my life on a day to day basis and on a bigger scale too! I'm a happier person! I've done a few courses with the centre since, including one on practical mindfulness called (I think) "Living with awareness" and another on living a more ethical life called "It's not about being good". Both were really enjoyable with very substantial and useful content which was again excellently delivered.
Great, glad it was helpful Declan!
Fantastic experience: It's a wonderful place teaching buddhist practices such as mindfulness and loving kindness that can lead to freedom from suffering for all
Fantastic experience: Lovely classes. Leave feeling great everytime :)
Fantastic experience: Did a meditation course here a few years ago. All the instructors are incredibly nice and did a great job at teaching the basic practices. Made it clear there was no need to be a Buddhist to do the practices and no conversion attempts were made!
Fantastic experience: A good place to learn meditation. Whether a beginner or more seasoned there are gems for everyone (some 'digging' may be required) ;)
Fantastic experience: A great place to learn to meditate and explore mindfulness.
Fantastic experience: A little oasis in Dublin city centre. Excellent meditation courses here.
