Fantastic experience: Wonderful studio - I only wish that I lived in Westport, so that I could continue to attend! They were very friendly and welcoming, during my short stay in town, and I enjoyed every class that I was able to attend. Terrific instructors, lovely space, and I was grateful to be able to practice there, while visiting the area. Thank you! I will be back (god willing).

Fantastic experience: Yoga Root has improved my life. Seriously. Since I started classes about 6 months ago, I have noticed a marked improvement in my strength, balance, flexibility and general ability to do normal day to day stuff. Context: I am 58 and I work from home full time. Lots of sitting around. I could feel my body getting stiffer and weaker. Derrick and Trish’s classes at Yoga Root have reversed this. The classes are fun and welcoming. It’s a nice crowd. No body-shaming or gym-bunnies. I’ve now switched up my classes from the beginner/gentle stuff to more strenuous classes. All are good. Congrats to the Yoga Root team, you’ve got a good thing going on here.

Fantastic experience: The Yoga Root is an exceptional studio. I attended their Open Day to decide if I was interested and was immediately impressed with the ambience of the space and the warm welcome I received, I decided to join their monthly membership program. I've experienced yoga classes that are all about fitness and pushing yourself to uncomfortable limits. That is not the case at The Yoga Root, there is a culture of authenticity and acceptance and the classes are taught in a way that is accessible to any level. The studio seems to have a special affinity for beginners creating lots of opportunities to discover the practice and learn fundamentals. For the more experienced yogi, there are challenging classes that focus on strength and more advanced poses. I especially enjoy how the instructors infuse the classes with bits of information about how and why we do certain things in yoga. I would definitely recommend checking them out!

Fantastic experience: My wife and I recently visited Westport for a few days, and checked out the Yoga Root. It was easy to join with an app, and we signed up for a couple of classes. What we found was a lovely studio on the quay, full of calm and zen, really relaxing, with lovely people there. We did Derrick's Strong Yoga class, and it was strong!! but invigorating, and we really enjoyed it. The following morning we did a gentler class with Elizabeth, which was also thoroughly enjoying, whilst being less energetic/taxing. Highly recommend a visit to The Yoga Root, we loved it, thanks to Derrick, Conor and Elizabeth, and all of the lovely yogis we encountered there too. Give them a try, you'll be glad you did!! Fantastic experience: I love coming to the Yoga Root – an oasis in daily life – I always leave feeling more relaxed and invigorated. The staff is welcoming and consistently goes above and beyond to be helpful and inclusive. The studio is a beautiful, calming space – minimal but with lots of stone, wood, and a few thoughtful details that add the perfect amount of warmth. Bright windows that look out onto a leafy courtyard. I have practiced Yoga for many years on and off and just finished the 6-week beginners’ series with Derrick. His instruction is incredibly thoughtful and well-paced, focused on each student finding what works best for them with exercises informed by classical yoga and a modern understanding of somatics. A great course for cultivating the foundational skills that support a healthy and empowered movement practice of any kind.

Fantastic experience: I did a two-hour Restorative Yoga Workshop with Elizabeth and really enjoyed it. The room is well laid-out, everyone had enough space even though it was quite full. I loved the music, too, it fit the mood well. The exercises were all doable and I felt really good afterward. I plan on going back for some normal classes. The staff all seem very sound aswell. Fantastic experience: Lovely, warm welcoming studio. Great selection of classes for all levels from beginners up. I tried the Chair/Seated yoga today. Perfect to get started again with plenty of stretching. Felt so good afterwards. I'd recommend The Yoga Root for everyone and hope to build up my flexibility and strength.

Fantastic experience: Yoga Roots really goes the extra mile to make the classes a relaxing, enjoyable and highly educational experience - the interior design, music,... every aspect helps to prepare mentally for the yoga lesson. However, the greatest thing was the first-class teachers. Each class was brilliantly crafted, well explained and had take-away points far beyond the realms of yoga. I also really enjoyed that there was a psychological input every now and again.

Fantastic experience: Attended a sound bath at The Yoga Root in January. What an amazing experience. A beautiful healing space. The studio is fab. I also attended a restorative heart chakra workshop on Saturday 11th February. I feel like I can finally take a full breath right down into the bottom of my lungs. I feel so much more relaxed and at peace. Will definitely be attending more workshops and classes

Fantastic experience: I attended an introduction to Baby Yoga with Liz and it was a busy but relaxing experience. I got to do some yoga with my baby but when my baby was not interested I got to do some just for me, which was lovely. Yoga Roots was a welcoming environment and it also felt like a safe space for my baby to be loud, slightly cranky and whatever else came with my babies mood at that particular time. I have signed up for the classes and I'm hoping to do some more with my baby.

Fantastic experience: Such a beautiful and friendly studio. I attended the yoga for athletes session today, Zoe was brilliant, a great mixture of breath work, deep stretches to sort out all the niggles and relaxation. Highly recommend. These guys know what they're doing.

Fantastic experience: As someone that's super new to yoga (and about as flexible as a block of granite), finding the Yoga Root has been great. The studio is very welcoming to all levels, very comfortable and runs a great variety of classes. The Warm Yin class has very quickly become the highlight of my working-week, I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Fantastic experience: Visited the yoga root studio for the first time last Saturday to attend a sound bath workshop. There was a lovely warm welcome from the girl on reception and the sound bath workshop was so relaxing. The studio has a lovely feel to it and I am really looking forward to joining some yoga classes here. Would highly recommend. ☺️

Fantastic experience: I was introduced to the Yoga Root recently by the Parent Baby yoga class which is super fun. Elizabeth is such a warm, approachable and friendly teacher, and is so good humoured and easy going when my child and the other toddlers decide to take a little wander during the class! It has sparked a great interest in yoga with my daughter and her friends - the downward dog pose is a favourite and we often see them spontaneously practising it in daily life :) I also tried the Warm Yin class with Stephanie and it was pure heaven! The 27°c room felt so comforting and my body could really relax and sink into the stretches and I came out feeling really nourished. Stephanie had a way with words that brought me to that calm state of mind. The studio is beautiful too, very luxurious, like a little sanctuary. And it's quite something when you finish the class and step out and see the view of the glittering ocean and islands in front of you.

Fantastic experience: I was very lucky to have a chance to attend a beautiful class at Yoga Root last night. The class was instructed by the very welcoming, knowledgeable, patient & kind Derrick. The classes are very inclusive, no pressurised, yet challenging, & full of knowledge bombs! Set in the beautiful studio, warm & inviting, & what a perfect location! I am hooked & really cannot wait to get back for my next class. Its a joy & an absolute treat!

Fantastic experience: I recently discovered the Yoga Root studio and what a wonderful surprise! The space is open, bright and Zen with a really magical vibe. The teacher picked up on my restricted hip movement immediately and adjusted my poses accordingly. Feels much more flexible now. They obviously have a very devoted following of lovely Yogis who were really friendly towards me. Felt like home! :)

Fantastic experience: I LOVE The Yoga Root. I have practiced on and off over the years, and have always found myself leaving studios that didn't gel with me, but have been pulled back to studios based on the quality of the space and the vibe of the teachers, and this place has the best of these things in spades. I feel unbelievably grateful that The Yoga Root exists in Westport, as I have rarely found a studio that ticks all the boxes. The variety of classes is great, there is a rounded schedule that suits my lifestyle, and each teacher brings something different to their class, meaning there is something for everyone on offer. The space itself is modern, yet simple and earthy, and really feels like a special experience every time I go. I recommend it to everyone, from people living here to those just passing through. I've started to practice yoga a lot more since I began going to The Yoga Root, and it's also a great way to integrate yourself into the community here, as it has fast become a haunt for locals. I did the hot flow last night and brought a friend, and she's now signed up for a six class pass. It's not hard to convert people when the classes are this good and the space is this lovely! Big love for The Yoga Root, namaste.

Negative experience: We did the vinyasa flow this morning and unfortunately left quite disappointed. Firstly our teacher was running late, no problem, this happens. The class then began and I could have been listening to pop radio, far too loud and struggled to concentrate. We were interrupted on numerous occasions by different notifications through the bluetooth speaker. The flow felt too easy and unimaginative, there was so few people there it would have been easy to give people some variations to try out. We paid €16 each, which in my experience is quite pricey. However, we saw a sign on the way out advertising a whole week for €19? Feeling a little confused! Anyway, the studio is a nice space and our instructor was lovely. Just wasn't for us maybe!

Fantastic experience: Attended a class here over the summer. The studio is ideal. It's stunning, quiet and relaxing. The class was so enjoyable and the room was spacious enough for everyone to spread out and socially distance. I would love to see this place live up to its full potential post- covid.

Positive experience: My class on Saturday evening was incredibly relaxing and helped release shoulder tension by focussing on tiny movements which was surprisingly effective and something I had never tried before. The studio is beautiful: aesthetically and energetically calming. It feeds the soul. I look forward to trying more classes to learn and grow. The poetry recitation at the end was an awesome touch. I found the yoga teacher to be very knowledgable and was very willing to impart that knowledge. I'm not from Westport but plan to go there the next time I visit Westport

Fantastic experience: The Yoga Root is a wonderful place. Derrek greets you when you arrive and instantly sets you at ease with his friendly eyes (I would say smile but is masked up for your Covid temp check while booking you in). The whole place is warm, calm, peaceful, relaxed. Derrick is clear in his instruction and guides you through your practice with a calm ease. There are plenty of different practice styles to suit, whether you are a complete beginner or have a world of experience behind you there is a class for you. I couldn't recommend The Yoga Root enough. I look forward to my classes on a weekly basis and feel wonderful afterwards. If I can't make a class I actually find myself missing it. It's so worth a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to the Kinda Hot Yoga for a few weeks now and love it. Great music, beautiful studio, very friendly atmosphere and no pressure to keep up if you're just beginning (like me!). I love that they've different types of yoga available so there's something for everyone. I'm looking forward to trying the Vinyasa class and am working up to trying Power Yoga!! Even when I've gone in bad form, I've come out reset so it's a big thumbs up from me! Well done guys!

Fantastic experience: Beautiful studio, amazing instructors, and a central location! The online booking process is very user friendly. Classes were socially distanced, and the room was large and well ventilated. I'd highly recommend taking a class!

Fantastic experience: Derrick was an amazing knowledgeable teacher. I'm not a yogi by any means and only drop in and out of classes, but this was one of the best yoga classes I have done, purely down to Derrick and his excellent teaching. He left the class with a few bits of new information to take away home with them. I left feeling 100 times better, both physically and emotionally! Thank you .
