Fantastic experience: We stayed at the lovely Garryvoe Hotel while touring Ireland. The room was very beautiful and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was very clean, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The buffet and breakfast was very delicious and plentiful. You can see the ocean from the hotel, and it takes a couple of minutes to walk to the beach. The views are amazing! I would highly recommend a visit to the Garryvoe Hotel in County Cork, Ireland.

Negative experience: Indifferent staff Non attentive to allergies And the smoking location is right in front of the front door.

Fantastic experience: I had a great meal in the bar this week. The staff were on the ball and so helpful throughout. As it happens, I found myself in a misfortune later that day on the beach and Farragh and the crew at reception went out of their way to help me manage what was a very stressful situation. They saved the day, no doubt and I am so grateful to them. It is clear here that customer service is paramount and I have to say that Farragh and her team, set the standard. If this is how they treat people who are not even staying in the hotel, then their guests must be very well looked after indeed!

Fantastic experience: A group of twelve of us went there for lunch, lovely choice of starters,main course and desert,you have a choice of two or three course. The service and staff were excellent and the food also excellent.

Positive experience: It was fine but we expected better. We heard a lot of good things about the Garryvoe and were very excited to go for our mini-moon. Check in was a breeze, the room was lovely and spacious however there had clearly been a leak in the room above as there was a lot of water damage on the ceiling. There was also no way of turning off the radiator in the bathroom which meant the room was sweltering, we had to have the balcony doors open all day and the fan on all night. The location is very picturesque although there is not a lot to do in the area other than a pleasant enough beach walk and the wellness area (pool, sauna & Jacuzzi) which were quite nice. We had dinner at the hotel the first night, it was nice, however it was quite expensive for what it was. We had been told we had complimentary breakfast at check in, which I didn't remember booking, so in the morning I checked with reception again, and was told we had complimentary breakfast with the room. After breakfast I went back to reception to pay for the meal the night before and low and behold we had been charged for breakfast and after asking for a 3rd time were finally told breakfast was not included. This was very frustrating after having double checked before we ate and much like dinner, the cooked breakfast was very expensive for what it was. We ended up getting a far superior breakfast for nearly half the price, just down the road at the Kilkenny Design Centre. Finally, the little things, there was no wifi code on the online welcome pack, we phoned reception and were quite sarcastically asked if we have checked the welcome pack as it is on there. After double checki, it was not. The welcome pack also stated the pool hats were €2.50 and when we got there they were €3. And finally on our 3rd day the hotel wifi went down and was not fixed by the time we left. All of these things alone are not a big deal, but they all added up and we just expected a little better from a 4* hotel with such a good name.

Positive experience: If you like scampi, the Lighthouse Bar has the best in Ireland

Positive experience: This hotel is in a nice location the room was a little dated for our liking but nice all the same as the beds are good quality. The pool is good especially when their's adult only times also there is a dryer for your swimming gear. The steam room lacks a little steam but it's comfortable to sit in. We like the idea of the hot tub outside its nice when it's raining and the staff at the leasure center are very nice and engaging. The library was our favourite place it's very relaxing and comfortable with a nice vibe to it Overall a hotel we would recommend

Fantastic experience: We stayed at Garyvoe last week for two nights. From arriving to leaving we were so well looked after. Garyvoe is in a beautiful location being so close to the sea There is a very safe walk way by the sea if you do not wish to go on the beach Meals at Garyvoe are fabulous with plenty to choose from Garyvoe is a great hotel in a beautiful location and well worth another visit.

Fantastic experience: Our second visit to Garryvoe and we were not disappointed. This is a nice place operated by nice people, good solid service without pretensions to anything other than providing just a good stay for guests. Food is very good, good quality breakfast much better than most hotels we have used recently.

Fantastic experience: We returned to Garyvoe for our wedding anniversary with our baby. As always we really enjoyed our stay. The staff go above and beyond and are friendly and kind. The hotel is really child friendly and was easy to get around with the pram. The sea view rooms are just stunning. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner there and the food Is delicious. We would highly recommend the Garyvoe hotel and will definitely be back. Thank you.

Positive experience: A gorgeous hotel, exuding 1930s seaside resort vibes. Right by the sea. The restaurant is good, and the pool facilities are great. The rooms are spacious, and the front desk staff were very helpful. My only complaint is that the breakfast service staff were very surly on our first morning there.

Positive experience: Nice hotel, plenty of parking, Also electric car charging facility available, Room was nice with comfortable bed, nice clean toilet. No fridge in room-which was very annoying for the price the rooms are offered. There is a nice restaurant on ground floor with great variety of food. There are no other nearby shops, fast food, restaurants etc.

Lights in the bathroom had failed and not been checked. Resident bar staff plain rude on one of the nights and shocking slow. Location is very good by the beach. Fantastic experience: Dropped in to the garryvoe while out for a spin last Sunday. Been 25 years since my last visit! OMG what a fabulous hotel venue Bar and restaurant. Had lunch top class friendly staff great value relaxed vibe. The fact that two guys clad in leather bike gear didn't phase anyone! Definitely be back but accommodation booked out to october that says enough! Dont miss out!!

Fantastic experience: This hotel setting and style is amazing but the staff are the gem in the crown! We had our wedding here recently and apart from the amazing food, the class rooms, beautiful views of the beach it was the staff that stood out most to me, super naturally friendly, went above and beyond when it came to the kids and are an absolute credit to the hotel. Highly recommend, top class!

Positive experience: Called in about 12. 30 for some light bites and some wine, I ordered a pino grill and a riojo ,both excellent. I opted for the chowder and partner had the goat cheese. When the chowder was served I thought at first it was a potato soup but when I fished around in the bowl I discovered 3 pieces of lightly smoked haddock. Not related to a chowder no fish taste. My partners goat cheese was plentiful but so mild it lacked any goat flavour, I paid my bill and complained to a lady who appeared to be in charge , she told me it was a haddock chowder and she has told the chef many times about customer complaints regarding same. First and possibly last visit.

Negative experience: Terrible place never coming back son was in the bathroom and the manager José came in and started putting his hands on my son and accusing him of causing trouble and trapped him in and wouldnt let him go and was also being very aggressive and calling him names and wouldnt leave him go because he has nothing better to be doing with his life the old wrinkly man

Negative experience: Two night stay and the service at resturant lack and the main bar was very bad service.no maid service !! Ask for a fan 3times never got one !!

Positive experience: Attended wedding at this popular seaside hotel recently. The food was good, the goats cheese starter and hake were particulary delicious. The selection of desserts were lacklustre. We didn't stay the night so I can't comment on the rooms but the downstairs decor is clean and modern featuring a bookish lounge area to cosy up in. Staff were lovely.

Positive experience: Dropped in for a quick light meal today. Ordered chowder which was totally forgettable. It was chowder in name only---bits of cod and veg--no other fish nor mussels etc and it was a green color. Not to be recommended and prices were certainly not family friendly

Fantastic experience: I have very happy memories of the Garryvoe but unfortunately my visits are not as often as I'd like. Fortunately, this trip to Ireland included a trip to the Garryvoe as we had time and were local enough. Sunday lunch at the Samphire restaurant was good, the staff made it all the better. Thank you to Jose & Shauna for making us feel so comfortable and welcome throughout and our little ones were so well looked after especially with the extensive food options for them. We really loved that they could construct their own pasta dinner. See pasta pics! Well done Garryvoe team!! Nothing was too much trouble, hence why I'll keep coming back to this wonderfully placed hotel. Your staff represent you and they're doing a great job, treat them well and they'll stay and so will your customers.

Positive experience: The Hotel has a lot of facilities, the restaurant is good, the menu could do with changing from day today. There is pretty well no where else to eat around there, so they have the market cornered! The staff are excellent. The major item missing is entertainment. There is no staff in the main bar and a little live music in the massive room beside it would bring the place to life. Also the pool time is very limited for children.

Negative experience: Our experience at Garryvoe for our wedding was incredibly disappointing. Despite our initial excitement and the positive reviews we had read, we encountered numerous issues from the outset. Guests were mistakenly informed that there was no wedding scheduled for our date, we were overcharged, and our instructions were not followed – including providing free drinks to all guests without our consent. To make matters worse, despite being assured that music could play until 4 am, it was abruptly turned off at 1 am, disrupting the celebration. This not only marred our special day but also impacted the experience of guests who had traveled from abroad to be with us. Perhaps most frustrating was the lack of apology or accountability from Kevin, the manager, for the myriad of problems we faced. Instead, we found ourselves repeatedly reaching out via emails and calls to resolve issues that should never have occurred in the first place. Overall, our wedding experience at Garryvoe fell far short of our expectations, leaving us deeply disappointed and wishing for a more seamless and enjoyable celebration.

Fantastic experience: The most delicious version of a Caesar Salad I’ve eaten in a very long time. It was an absolute cracker of a dish served by friendly, helpful staff … full marks !

Positive experience: Good hotel, right near the beach. We were there in winter so didn't enjoy the water. Nothing else really in walking distance Swimming, sauna, jacuzzi facilities were really nice, though they have a no kid time between 1130-1430 ish. Have loads of seating for dinner, quiet drinks, bar area. Family rooms were very spacious and great for a larger family.

Fantastic experience: Revisited Garryvoe after getting married there 16 years earlier. Had a weekend there this time as a family get away, staying overnight and having dinner. The hotel is as nice as we remember, with staff and facilities top class. Dinner was lovely, and drinks from the bar were excellent. Lovely big hotel rooms also. Many thanks.

Fantastic experience: We truly loved the garryvoe hotel, the location was perfect. Beach and sea views were amazing, it's a large hotel with multiple dining options! Easy to find, easy to park! The steak was yummy for dinner, the fish for breakfast was amazing!

Negative experience: Went here for dinner recently , it used to be very good but sadly on this occasion the food was not great , my fish in batter was very greasy instead of being nice and crisp , my wife's pasta dish was very bland and tasteless , more like reheated than fresh . Price wise a bit expensive for what was offered . I am hoping I just went on a bad day because it used to be outstanding on the previous occasions we visited . So I will give it another chance .

Negative experience: We stayed there on our three-week Ireland trip while visiting nearby Ballymaloe. We were anticipating a lovely, stately hotel but unfortunately we experienced not the best welcome by Laura at the front desk. Our room was spacious but with stained carpet, holes in the wall that were painted white while the wall color was dark blue, tattered wallpaper, mold in bathroom - we were not impressed or pleased. Access to the beach was easy and the pool was descent. Wouldn't stay there again. - Mary Ann from California.

Fantastic experience: Had our wedding there on 29th December I have to strongly recommend this venue if anyone is deciding have 1 Aidan and the team were top class from arriving in the venue to when we checked out always helpful and very accommodating , food was excellent and prompt .

Positive experience: Lovely looking bistro, but wait 20 mins for someone to take our order, No cutlery on the table, food was nice ,but chips were cold and tasteless . So I went to the bar to ask for condiments, man behind bar rolled his eyes with me, and asked another guy to get them. I think short staffing maybe the problem.

Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel, with sea views in lots of the rooms which was gorgeous. Rooms were a lovely size and temperature, and anything extra you needed was available straightaway. The food in both the restaurant and the bar was excellent and the prices were good too. It is a lovely, comfortable hotel to stay in and also excellent for touring around the area, Ballycotton, Youghal Cobh, Ballymaloe House, Castlemartyr Estate are all close by and there are lots of gorgeous beaches along the coast too. A really nice hotel, lovely, welcoming staff, who couldn't do enough for us. We will be back

Positive experience: Visited the hotel for a meal after a funeral. It was very well organised and very efficient with quick table service. The hotel reception area and restaurant are very well laid out. It would seem like a nice place to spend a week relaxing as it is close to a beautiful, well-kept beach with a life guard on duty. Beautiful sea scenes and large beach for long walks. A great place to visit for individuals or family also.

Fantastic experience: What a fantastic hotel! We had our wedding at The Garryvoe Hotel two weeks ago, and everything was amazing!! The Garryvoe Hotel is such a lovely hotel, and it is in a beautiful location. The main reason our wedding day and day two went so well was mainly due to the hotel staff. Everyone was so lovely, super helpful, and everything went to plan. All our guests commented on how impressed they were with the hotel and what a beautiful place to get married. I never do these reviews, but I had to write this review because we had such a wonderful wedding weekend. I highly recommend The Garryvoe Hotel, especially for Weddings!! I want to say a massive thank you particularly to Tracy O’Regan, (Front Office Manager), Kevin Harris (Deputy General Manager) and Aiden Cotter (General Manager). Thank you for the best weekend of our lives!!

Fantastic experience: What a hotel!!! We had our wedding reception here a few weeks ago and I cannot express enough how amazing Garryvoe were to deal with. The staff and management were just unbelieveable Aidan, Kevin, Liz and Patrick to name a few but all the staff were brilliant. They made the hole experience so seamless. The food was amazing, the location was unreal..if anyone is thinking of Garryvoe for their wedding venue, I would highly recommend it. We cannot wait to go back for a visit. Negative experience: Out for a Sunday drive we decided to go to Garryvoe. I rang ahead and asked if they were serving food and was told yes no need to make a booking. We arrived and a waiter approached us, we explained we rang and he said yes just wait a few moments and the manager on duty came over to us again we explained we were looking for a table for two and he said yes we are busy with bookings we have no table They were plenty of free tables and three other customers behind us walked out on hearing his response I totally understand a restaurant being booked out I would have preferred not to make an unnecessary journey all the way down to Garryvoe to be turned away

Positive experience: Great service for Sunday lunch with a varied menu ranging from fish/chips to delicious prawn cocktail to roast beef. An ideal place for lunch followed by a walk on the beach.

Fantastic experience: What a spot. We had great weather which was a bonus. The location hotel and staff were amazing. Anything we asked for they were all so obliging. It was my friends 60th and they really made it special. Food was very good as well. All in all a great break and full marks to all. I look forward to a return visit in the future. Fantastic experience: Sadly saying Sunday Sayonara to the beautiful Garryvoe Our second year spending mid-term at the Garryvoe. This hotel is an oasis of tranquility. The staff are professional, helpful and welcoming. The food is delicious and well presented. Breakfast is an absolute must for the choice available and the fluffiest scrambled eggs ever to be eaten! It's family friendly with a sweet playground area nearby and fairies on every hotel floor! The rooms are spacious with King Coil mattresses and comfy pillows. More than looking forward to our return trip.

Positive experience: Cold pool. Complained but was told the temperature was fine. Kids coming g out with blue lips. Cancelled membership and girl acted as though, if you don't like it go elsewhere. Our €1200 would pay alot of electricity!

Positive experience: Inefficiencies in having our room ready. We arrived early & although check in was 4pm there were guests checked in from 3pm on arrival. 4.30 eventually our room was ready. No explanation offered except that there was a wedding the day before, offering this type of explanation is totally unacceptable for a supposedly 4 star hotel. It was not a good start to our overnight stay. In addition as a guest we couldn't get our requested time for dinner even though I rang the hotel & advised no need to book dinner in advance. Thankfully this hotel redeemed itself with 5-star quality food. Would I return, not sure. Great venue for a wedding & my guess is it's marketed as such.

Positive experience: Enjoyable stay. I liked the bar and the room decor. We had very warm welcome from the girls at reception. The view from our room was lovely. I bet its fabulous here in the summer. For our dinner we were sent to the bistro... (pity that they didn't use the bar dinning are for food that evening ) In my opinion, the menu sounds outdated. I guess I expected a bit more than I've got. Even at the breakfast, our eggs Benedict were hard and hollandaise sauce had way too much of lemon juice..

Fantastic experience: Just returned from a 2 night stay in what I can only describe as a fabulous hotel. Right on the beach and a swimming pool as well it had everything we needed. Staff are fantastic and so helpful and the food is absolutely amazing. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in and I’ll definitely return soon.

Negative experience: In the locality this evening. Starving. Called in to the (empty) bar for food at approx 6.30pm. The girl behind the bar sent us down to the "Lighthouse Bistro"... There were free tables everywhere. Duty manager comes along, we asked for a table for 2, he asked if we were residents. We said no. He then told us they were totally full! There were plenty tables free downstairs and an empty bar upstairs but wouldn't feed us. Won't be calling again.

Negative experience: Just had a lovely walk on the beach, Went into the Garryvoe Hotel, for a tea and coffee. Was told they were so busy, that it would be an hour ,before we got served. One hour for tea and coffee, really. They didn't have a table, available I pointed to one table for 2, and one table for 4. They were used and finished with, as the used plates were on them. I certainly won't be going in there ever again. And they complain when covid stops there business. What a advertising campaign that is.

Positive experience: Popped in for a couple of drinks after a walk nearby, there was wedding on so very busy bit added a nice atmosphere. Staff despite being busy were friendly and helpful. Thanks
