Fantastic experience: Tristan is more personal "scientist" than personal "trainer". He takes an empathetic, pragmatic approach to personal health development that's founded in a combination of careful research and decades of personal experience. Guaranteed to embed good habits that generate personal transformation if you're willing to apply yourself

Fantastic experience: I had been working with several personal trainers in the past, however progress was limited as it focused a lot on high amounts of activity and did not really focus on clarity on purpose and goal setting. I felt a bit lost as I spend a lot of time on my own consulting various resources online to figure out where to focus and to come up with a holistic health strategy. I felt held back mainly from a lack of clarity of what I was trying to achieve and how to do that. The main difference with TH was that it went from a series of exercises to a strategy around health. It was great discussing my goals and aspirations beyond just exercising, I loved how Tristan then translated that into a clear action plan with regular milestones to get there. Also, I hadn't initially thought about setting personalised goals vs the usual one size fits all approach I tried in the past. The first time I realised this was working was when I started to consciously question my behaviours while out in the world, especially about what I eat. I now am in a place where I’ve regained a lot more mobility and feel stronger and more confident. Even though I am not there yet; I am happy that I now have an idea of what to work on... mainly mentally accepting the effort needed to be done :-) What really makes this worth it is the clarity on what to do and the way I think about health and food now. If you don't know what to do or where to begin, just skip the line and get the expertise through Tristan.

Negative experience: I had one "introductory session" with this dude a while ago. He was extremely rude and so obnoxiously laid back that he came across as disinterested. He couldn't care less because I think he knew after that one trial session that I wouldn't be coming back. He charged me €100 euros. I wasted my time and money. I've had personal trainers for years. None have made me feel the way this guy did. I actually left before the session was over because I couldn't stand the arrogance and awful atmosphere. If you come here for any bizarre reason, don't forget to bring Tristan a slice of humble pie and €100. His rates have probably increased now. There are a tonne of personal trainers in the area that are much more pleasant and professional and will treat you with genuine respect. I had one intro session with him. That was enough.

Fantastic experience: I went to meet Tristan in January 2022 having gone through a very difficult Covid. My goal was to get into shape physically and to lose weight as part of the building blocks I needed to form the foundation for rebuilding after the devastating impact of Covid on my business. I was initially sceptical and I had more or less decided it was not the right solution for me but I asked for a referral. Thankfully that referral came from a very generous gentleman who spent the best part of an hour on the phone with me relaying his own experience with Tristan. Without this I likely would not have proceeded but armed with this and determined that health is worth the investment and everything will come from that if I mind it, I went ahead. I don’t regret that decision one bit and I found the whole experience completely holistic and transformative both in body and in mind. It was also not as difficult as I envisioned it to be. There were no relentless hours in the gym punishing myself, rather it was a much more stoic, educational and considered approach based on cultivating the correct habits that become ingrained to get you from where you are to where you want to be. I became much more mindful and educated about food and more present and robust in my thinking and it was Tristan’s invaluable insights and advice that guided my way forward to this progress that is sustainable. I would highly recommend Tristan and his team at TH Training to anyone who is lacking in any area of their life whether it’s physical or otherwise. Moreover, Tristan is a kind and generous person who I am grateful to be able to now count as a friend. Paul

Fantastic experience: Incredibly helpful and accommodating. I was able to ask any question and was always met with a quick detailed response. They helped motivate me towards my goals and helped tailor everything to my specific needs. Whenever I had a problem or obstacle Tristian was always quick with a solution that kept me on track. I honestly couldn’t recommend the service enough as it was overall life changing.

It was a pleasure to work with you over the course of the program and also to see the progress you have made between the completion of it and our last check in session. Look forward to working together again. Tristan

Negative experience: Ultimately when it comes to experienced personal trainers in the city, almost all can help you lose weight and gain strength. There are many great trainers in Dublin. So that aside, the question then becomes: is the service value for money? At the consultation when I asked about cost of services, I was told, “let’s flip that back to you, what do you think this service is worth?”. I found that question bizarre, why wasn’t I simply provided a fixed rate? That alone sounded alarm bells, at least to begin with. This shouldn’t be a negotiation. Sales techniques like that don’t belong in personal training, they really don't. But in the end, what did I end up paying for? - 1 personal training session a week (max. 45 minutes in duration; though the average exercise session for me lasted 25 minutes in duration; 35-minutes in and out after changing). - use of a third-party nutrition / habit application You are also asked to do the same training session at home in your own time at a later stage in the week. Remember, 500 euros a month. The minimum sign-up period for me was “3-months”. The application on nutrition / habits developed in the US basically tells you to eat less, move more, and develop better habits – well, who doesn’t know that? It’s always been about personal responsibility. In my opinion, this application may be useful for 11-15 year olds, but not adults. The changing room is a very narrow toilet / shower space; it doesn’t even have room for a bench. I had exactly the same workout 12-weeks in a row. I was told there was "no judgment". Though I noticed that my technique was giggled at more than once, too. So much for that claim, too. The website is seductive from a sales and marketing perspective, and therein credit is warranted. Look, I blame myself and take full personal responsibility for what I agreed to, because I was informed of all terms before I signed-up. I made a mistake, and I own up to it. But for 500 euros a month elsewhere in Dublin, people can secure a highly rated, experienced personal trainer for 3-times a week in-person for 1-hour in duration; that’s 12-hours versus 2-3-hours of in-person training a month; where you can lose weight and gain strength, ask questions, develop better habits, and really move forward. Doing comparatively little (45-minute in-person training session once a week; asking a client to do exercise at home), whilst asking for comparatively high rates (500 euro a month) cannot, in my view, be justified. People may ask, why I'm bothered to make such a lengthy review? For sure, it's not something I usually do. But when you pay €1,500 for a few hours in-house training for 3-months, it matters. That's €6,000 a year. I feel compelled to at least express my opinion. But as I say, people can make their own minds up. ---- *Update* I've noticed since I published my initial review two things: First, that the response was met with the obvious attempt to water down and dilute the message and experience I had put forward. That much I expected. It's all about sales, after all, at least from their perspective. However what I didn't expect is that since I published my review (which was, at the time of posting, the most popular review - and only posted a few weeks ago) - is that other reviews which had no positives, all of a sudden and out of thin air have +4 to +7 thumbs up. I can't speculate as to why that suddenly happened, but people can come to their own conclusions. As a business owner myself, I find that kind of development at the very least uncomfortable. Customers should always be treated with respect, not as a means to an end. As far as I'm concerned, it proves the very point I was trying to make to begin with. People can come to their own conclusions whether this is something for them. Everything so far to date has confirmed, to me at least, my conclusion that this experience was an absolute mistake.

Hi Luke, Thanks for taking the time to write a review. However, it comes as shock as what you write is in direct contradiction to the feedback you gave us at the conclusion of your trial period. It was also really unexpected given the progress and measurable changes you made, which were above our shared targets. The reason you gave at the time was that while you could understand why most people continue with the program, for you it was about “personal responsibility”. You said you felt you should be able to make progress yourself without anyone’s help. It is therefore surprising that in your review, you describe the traditional personal training model of cheap sessions 3x week as more valuable. In that model, you gain no independence or experience without someone standing over you. In that model, clients do not usually break that reliance, and therefore it does not align with our core objective, which is to empower our clients for lifelong health and wellbeing even after they finish our programme. I totally agree that if you want a straight up ‘time-for-money’ exchange of training at the cheapest rate we are not the service for that. We are a complete Coaching service that provides a much greater impact beyond what traditional personal training can provide, and our solutions are priced to reflect that. Most trainers charge based on exercise time, but as so many of our clients tell us when they join, that didn’t get results for them. Most people ultimately want to feel mentally and physically better, and this requires a combination of different aspects. We don’t see that combination provided anywhere else. Personal Training is just one part of the whole. Other required aspects for success include nutrition, proven lifestyle and mindset coaching & systems, ongoing assessment and ongoing support. We are very proud of the service we provide, which has changed their whole life trajectory of many clients, as you see described in their reviews. Many also say that this investment of time, money and commitment has been the best they have ever made in any area. We made all the above very clear in your consultation because ultimately we need our clients to sign up to this ethos. We are clear on what you get, what results to expect (which you achieved) and what the financial, time and communication commitments are. All of which you agreed to verbally and in a written contract. Throughout the program you fulfilled the financial and time commitments, however, you did not communicate any of the issues you mention in this review to us. You, like many others, came to us because you hadn’t gotten results with your previous trainer, despite investing more time and energy than was required with us. We get many people who chose the cheaper option but who come to us later ready to make the required commitment to change for life. Things you fail to mention in your review: You did achieve the interim results we agreed upon. You built a regular training habit independent of relying on a coach to stand over you, which was an aspect of the personal responsibility you hadn’t attained before. We did check in with you throughout the program on how you were getting on and you expressed no reservations. Specifically, I met with you outside one of your sessions in the weeks prior to your discontinuation of the program. If we had known you were having any issue we could have worked together to find a solution. In the consultation, we didn’t ask you what the service was worth, we asked what was the value to you of the desired result. You were on track to achieve that result across all metrics but unfortunately you quit at the end of the 3 month trial commitment period. We wish only the best for you in your future.

Fantastic experience: My goal in engaging Tristan initially was to get in better shape ahead of our wedding, however what I am getting over time is far beyond that. Tristan combines coaching, accountability & continuous education in a way that helped me shift my identity and habits. For the first few months, I didn’t feel like I was making the progress I wanted to - however on reflection, showing up 2x a week was progress! Over time, the small improvements I saw & regular conversations with Tristan have helped to create a more lasting why / how for my physical exercise and nutrition in particular. Tristans greatest strength in my view is an ability to read where you are in a given moment & ask great questions to help you come to your own breakthroughs. I’d also like to thank Tristan for helping some of my family members and loved ones along the way, for which I am extremely grateful.

Fantastic experience: I worked with Tristan for about six years and he kept me fit throughout two pregnancies and helped me get strong again afterwards. He took me from never having been fit in my life to feeling really strong and being able to take different sports with more ease. Training sessions are easy going and fun.....yet impactful. No sense of dread of working out and feel refreshed and invigorated afterwards. All that and he's a super sound guy that you can bounce ideas off and have some lols with. Couldn't recommend him more.

Fantastic experience: If I were to recommend TH Coaching to anyone, I would say: "They know what they are doing, go for it"! With TH Coaching, the focus is on the long run vs short term gains. The coaches are very knowledgeable when it comes to how the body works, but also how the mind works. The approach here is scientific, based on research. Another major success factor for me is that they put me and my goals at the center of the process. They constantly check in and make sure I get the support I need to overcome obstacles. Before starting my journey with TH Coaching, I expected sweaty painful workouts and extreme dietary restrictions and was surprised to see how gradually new habits are introduced and physical strength is built. I also expected irrational time commitment requirements and am happy to see how easy it is to maintain and sustain my new habits in my daily routine. The moment I realized that what TH Coaching does was working was the first time I tried my old jeans and they were quite loose on me and the first time I managed to do 7 pushups! I felt so proud of my determination and my strength. What made me feel happiest was seeing how mindset and consistency payoff and how little time and physical effort it actually takes to achieve the results I wanted. Setbacks were also allowed and addressed without judgment, which also was a high note on many occasions! I now feel my fitness journey belongs to me, I understand my behavior and have the tools to cope. I feel strong both on the inside and the outside and feel empowered to see what else my body can do!

Fantastic experience: It’s difficult to put into words how important my experience was with Tristan at TH Training. It was in one word - life-changing. Ever since I was young I struggled with my weight. I truly felt like I tried everything, but nothing resonated with me. After I learned I was obese and didn’t recognise myself - I knew I needed help. It was at that time I found Tristan through a simple Google search. I went in admittedly skeptical as someone who had been through trainer after trainer. I had my heart set on trying this out only for a few months then moving onto the next thing as I had always done. But Tristan was different. He was calm, approachable, friendly, and reassuring. As a first step he helped me understand my goals, which was to not only lose weight but get back to the real me. A true transformation. And we did just that. Not only did I lose 45kg through this journey, but I found myself again in the process. I also found a newfound love for weight lifting, the outdoors, and cooking. Tristan shows you how to achieve greatness and helps you realise that you had it in you the whole time. Thank you Tristan!

Fantastic experience: My experience has been entirely positive. I’ve worked with Tristan for more than 4 years. Sometimes I think people think a trainer is there to whip you into shape. In fact it doesn’t work like that and it takes a trainer with honesty and integrity to help you on your way. Tristan is one of those trainers.

Fantastic experience: Before I started to train with Tristan, I didn’t think I could find the time, nor the motivation to start. Once I started and goals were set, the guidance was clear and simple. I was pleasantly surprised to see how quickly I could progress. This gave me the motivation to progress more. Soon, finding the time wasn’t an issue, as it was something I enjoyed. With personal training, you get full and personalised focus on what you’re doing right or wrong, and how to improve. You don’t get that in a class in the gym. The app is great as you know exactly what you should be doing, and it is tailored to your personal progress. Today, I’ve met my goals, which I was unsure were achievable at the beginning. There are other benefits too, I’m feeling healthier, and eating and sleeping much better. I would thoroughly recommend training with Tristan. If you’re thinking about starting, give it a try.

Fantastic experience: I had two goals in mind, fat loss and gain muscle. Tristan started teaching me how to change my diet and set goals for the calories I could eat every day (we used myfitnesspal). In the meantime, he created and executed a plan that only suited me, so we could maximize results, training one day with him and 2 days at home, using the equipment he has advised me to get. Every month he would take measures, which I could also see online, and results were noticeable after the third month. It's not easy for someone like me who wasn't used to training, but Tristan always supports and gives you the required tools so you don't give up. I have achieved both goals and now I know how to eat better, healthier and am able to see training as a way of improving, not as a sacrifice that has to be done.

Fantastic experience: Tristan has tailor-made my sessions to meet my own targets. The progression achieved in the first eight months has been superb. Tristan gave me an excellent weekly training program that fits perfectly into my week. He also really helped me to acquire the equipment I need so that I can continue my training at home. I find his online monitoring to be really helpful - I can view my workouts, ask questions etc - basically i am not alone between sessions and I can make sure that I'm really using my time correctly and effectively.

Fantastic experience: Excellent trainer. Thorough, professional, but patient and realistic - a great help for someone like me who had a previous phobia of weights!
