Treacys Hotel Waterford: Opinions
Positive experience: Nice hotel, front rooms better than rear or side rooms, food very good, and staff were excellent. Third time I've stayed there over the last few years, and will stay again if we visit that part of Ireland.
Fantastic experience: Booked 50 students and 5 teachers in for a stay at Treacys, Waterford. Rooms were super-clean and comfy and hotel felt really secure. Food was delicious! Staff were amasing, right from group booking officer to receptionists and dining room personnel. The location is perfect; right in the centre of Waterford City and is the perfect hub for everyone from solo travellers to large groups like ours was. Thanks Treacys! Abraham at London on Legs.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant value in this dad and age of rising prices if you use supervalu breaks
Positive experience: Room was nice and clean but very hot. Had an issue with the TV but very nice maintenance man came and gave us a smart TV remote control. Swimming pool area could do with being updated and cleaned more often floors around the pool looked dirty and worn. Kids loved the kids pool area.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant the kids had a great time on their easter break. Shout out to Lauren in the kids club for the popcorn and movie night. Can't wait to return
Positive experience: Stayed in Tracy's Hotel on a Thursday to Friday and it is indeed a lovely hotel. Our twin room was quite small but very clean and comfortable. It had all the usual essentials including iron, iron board, TV, kettle and room safe. The bath had a shower and there was plenty of towels. However, I found the whole breakfast thing a disgrace. Breakfast is serve yourself but the problem us and other guests found was that the areas you get the cups, plates, cutlery, tea / coffee, cereals and hot food were all over the place and you had to go to a staff member of you wanted toast! The breakfast hot food was a choice of sausage, black / white pudding, fried tomato, bacon and either fried egg or scrambled. None of it I found good quality and seemed to be made a lot earlier and when I asked one of the servers if there were any fresh sausages or fried eggs ready...I was just ignored. In fact, we deliberately missed breakfast the very next morning and eat out. The bar was very busy in the evenings and the Guinness was really nice. But we found that they could've done with more bar staff as there was always a queue at the bar and no staff to take orders or bring down the drinks to your table.
Fantastic experience: food very delicious,we are so enjoy, service also good. recommend,We'll go again.
Positive experience: For value it is an ideal place to stay if your low budgeting to get leisure bar food and location. all the staff are friendly and the gym is quite with several machines treacys would be my first port to call for a night out in Watford as it is so central
Fantastic experience: Absolutely fabulous weekend. Bar food great, music was fab, room very comfortable and most of all the staff were all friendly
Positive experience: Breakfast not great , cold for 3 mornings in a row , had to ask for alot of things
Fantastic experience: The Hotel is just Fantastic really nice Breakfast and Beautiful Restaurant for evening Meals but best of all very nice Staff.
Positive experience: Overall, hotel is good value for money, The rooms are very basic and need updating. The food is good with big portions , The staff were all friendly and polite , we had a room facing the river and were not disturbed by noise or traffic from the road , what disturbed us and the whole hotel was the fire alarm going off twice during the night due to other residents smoking in their rooms , this was very frightening and disturbing to happen twice during one night while you are in a deep sleep . Also signs posted in the bathroom notifying residents that the steam fro showered and baths can also set off fire alarms , so beware when staying here , your nights or days can be disturbed by smoke alarms going off ant any given time .
Negative experience: I must say room was nice once we found it very badly layed out we were in block b as a family...got to room tv wasnt working nice man came fixed for 2 minutes and signal went again child was not happy...place was very clean in fairness to cleaning staff un fortunately reception staff not so ...fire alarms set off twice at 3.44am and again 5 minutes later rang reception but got no answer we could not get answers as to what was happening and all of us could not get back to sleep...jump ahead to morning and asked at reception about the situation just to be told two different stories (some1 smoking in room and some1 hit the alrms in hallway) asked to speak to a manager to be told no manager was on duty...we now have a 2 hr drive home tired which is not good....would have liked to speak with manager as we have stayed in many of the tracey hotel nation wide but this would have been one of the worst stays to be honest u expect a good sleep when u stay and pay €185 plus an extra €25 for breakfast at hotel but not this time so unfortunate...
Positive experience: Reasonable priced hotel, rooms are clean, service is good. The atmosphere is good with live music and busy bar.
Positive experience: Hotel is located at the end of the bridge leading into Waterford. It does need updating and I believe some work is been done at the moment. Car park is either the pay and display in front of the hotel, or 2 blocks to the rear of the hotel, which is free. Food was lovely, bar service was good, a little slow, but friendly, especially Ella. Will definitely start again.
Positive experience: Hotel is OK. Breakfast was OK. Staff are lovely. Bedrooms walls are a bit 'thin'. Handy location. Parking is free (by validating your ticket at reception) but is in a mult-story carpark 250m away. Not the nicest to walk at night, or to carry your bags in the rain.
Positive experience: Nice hotel, Train station across the bridge. Beautiful city to walk aaround. Cheap and cheerful hotel.
Negative experience: Booked 2 nights , the reception staff were not pleasant at all from the time we arrived. I asked for a quiet room , it was so noisy with kids running up and down the corridor and screaming on the street outside. We had to keep the curtains pulled at all times and the lights on all day as there were apartments straight in front of our window. The toilet didn’t flush anything down it was a nightmare . The bar food was terrible €48 for 2 fish and chips that were like they were from a freezer in Aldi . So disappointed in our stay. I suppose you get what you pay for , lesson learned big time!!
Fantastic experience: I had a brilliant break with my family here.
Fantastic experience: Bang for the buck stay. We got our stay from Supervalue holidays. Was a family room. The hotel is much larger than it looks. We have access to a 20m heated indoor pool. It does get crowded in the evenings. Breakfast was the usual items, it does get busier later in the mornings. They do have recommended time to go for breakfast. Parking is free only if you park at Glen Carpark, where Aldi is. It's a few mins walk to the hotel from the car park.
Negative experience: Worse hotel pool was tiny no sauna na place is old
Fantastic experience: Good size rooms and everywhere was very clean. Staff where very helpful.
Positive experience: I love Waterford city always look forward to visiting the city I stayed in this hotel in early March staff were very friendly and nice food was lovely I loved the bridge bar good selection of drinks . The only problem I had was there was a problem with the rooms the first day I arrived the TV didn't work properly I couldn't get rte stations the plughole in the bath did not keep the water in the bath tub apart from that rooms were nice . I loved the way my room was beside the leisure centre in the hotel . I would visit this hotel again I just wish they would fix their bathroom plugholes and improve their bedrooms . I hope they have reopened the back part of the bridge bar as it was closed for renovations last March I was very annoyed with this as it was my favorite part of the bar I wish they gave me more notice about this before I arrived in March 2020 please reply to my review at my Gmail address.
Positive experience: Lovely hotel spotless clean but the view from room not the best but yes we would go back
Negative experience: Unfortunately this Hotel is far too old. While the rooms are very noisy and you can participate to you neighbors TV program you also hear every step of the person in the room above while you are trying to sleep. Although the bathroom was newly renovated it had brown water from time to time. The Breakfast was very limited offer (Toast, beans, sausages, eggs, cereals, fruit). Toast and tomatoes where burned every morning. Gym was old and few equipments did not work.
Positive experience: Super location. Carpark is a few minutes walk but it is free and there were always spaces available. Room was cosy and bed was comfortable but the room needs a hefty updating. Wifi was excellent and bathroom was adequate. Dinner was good but Breakfast was only okay, the fry was good but the choice was a bit limited. Overall, the hotel was good and staff were friendly and helpful.
Positive experience: We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were just so lovely ,friendly and efficient. We ate in the restaurant one of the evenings ,the service was great and the food was delicious. Portion size was good. Rooms lovely, bed comfortable.. The only let down was the parking which is a few streets down in a shopping centre carpark. But it didn't effect our stay and will for sure return.
Negative experience: I've been sent numerous emails asking me to review Treacy's Hotel. We had a very disappointing experience in June 2023, while staying in Treacy's Hotel. I had booked two rooms for myself, my mother & my two children, for one night (almost €300). We were told upon check-in, that the bar would be serving food, until 9pm. We arrived to the bar at 8:30pm - My son went ahead of us to secure a table. When we entered, we noticed that the table that would have suited, was full of dirty plates. No one came to clean it... No one acknowledged us - even though we were directly opposite the bar. We moved to another table, where we stood, again waiting for someone to acknowledge us. I needed a highchair for my youngest child & there were none to be seen. We continued to wait, while the two bar men seemed to pretend we didn't exist. It was very demeaning & embarrassing, as there were others dining in the bar, that had obviously noticed us. One of the bar men handed food to a man sitting at the bar. At this point, my son asked if we could have some menus. He was told "no, the kitchen is closed". We were gobsmacked. I questioned this and was told that the kitchen closes at 8:45. (It was now 8:42). I told them that we were residents and that we had been told that the bar served food until 9pm. I also pointed out that they had appeared to, very purposefully, ignore our presence for the past 10 minutes. A man standing at the bar told the barmen to serve us. (I have no idea what authority this man had but suddenly we were being handed menus). The bar manager appeared & the aforementioned man explained the situation to him. Again, I'll say how totally embarrassing this whole situation was for us! I was so completely disgusted by the whole experience. I thanked the man at the bar but I said that we had been made to feel far too uncomfortable to stay. We went across the road to The Fitzwilton Hotel, where the service, food and overall atmosphere was 100%. They had absolutely no qualms about serving us and were quite the heroes after the experience we had just had in Treacy's. Apart from that, the hotel is in serious need of updating and the parking situation is ridiculous! It's so difficult to trek back and forth, up the hill to the car park, a few streets back, with all your luggage! I had to transport a travel cot, mattress etc along with suitcases. I wouldn't have chosen this hotel if I had known that it didn't have a car park. Luckily, I had brought a travel cot, as the hotel had set up a cot, with a big, adult sized sheet on the mattress! Loosely doubled over. It was such a hazard. There was also a set of bunk beds in my room, which I hadn't requested. My 1 year old kept trying to climb them! Another hazard. Overall, regardless of anything else, the experience in the bar really tarnished the whole trip for us.
Negative experience: As a Dubliner who has worked & spent a majority of time in hotels. I have never experience such rude customer services & ridiculous overprices that continually kept changing, I was giving 4-5 different higher prices for the same room. I was also told I would have to pay additional €25 on top of what I've already paid for the room if I arrive just before 5pm. Which is ridiculous as check out time is 12noon sharp in nearly every single hotel for cleaning which is the same there too but according to themselves their rooms aren't cleaned until 5pm but if customers want to enter their rooms before 5pm customers are charged €25 extra which is outrageously ridiculous & also extortionate BS scam
Negative experience: Bar manager discriminated against me and my friends because we were 20 and most were people of colour and minorities, told we were only allowed one drink and told us they stopped serving despite serving other people more drinks Absolute racist bar manager
Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel, and perfect location for a base to explore Waterford city
Fantastic experience: A lovely perfectly situated hotel. Best Breakfast I've ever had. Room very comfortable and cosy.
Positive experience: Stayed in Treacys for the last 3 days, booked it because it has a pool. Pool closed for a week, we were not informed AT ALL, have stayed here at least 4 times previous, breakfast was great as always, room was ok, water in bath or shower Luke warm at any time of day, also mould growing in skylight in the bathroom, mentioned this to manager yesterday & was told room is on list to be refurbished, not a great answer when you are pointing out something, showed him pictures I took of the mould, didn't seem to take much notice. Was a disappointment this stay.
Positive experience: Great central location. Room was quite small and only had one chair but bed was comfortable. When we were there the jacuzzi was not in service but I think it was due to be fixed the following week. The breakfast was very disappointing. The first morning on entering we were told it's all self service but if you want toast ask a member of staff so we did. They clarified if we wanted white or brown so definitely heard us but we never got the toast. The second morning there was a toast station. Both mornings the pastry basket was empty when we arrived and as soon as it was refilled there was a swarm of people and it was empty again. This indicates it's not refilled very often. Both mornings the coffee machine was also empty when we tried to use it. As a vegetarian there was not much choice for me. There was cereal, fruit and yoghurt but with the hot food my options were beans, a fried tomato and scrambled or fried eggs. There was also sausages, bacon and pudding but obviously I didn't have them. There's no parking but they offer free parking in the Aldi car park (they validate your ticket at checkout) about 5 mins walk away.
Positive experience: Nice hotel , got big room when arrived
Fantastic experience: This is a great family run hotel. Nice bar with live music at weekends.
Positive experience: Nice hotel. Staff are lovely, very Friendly and helpful. Hotel is in a great location. No car parking on site, but there is parking a 3 min walk away. The rooms are nice, could do with a bit of TLC in parts.Had food in the bar, was very nice, good portion size. The breakfast was a bit of a let down. Nothing special. Overall a nice stay
Fantastic experience: Niall was absolutely lovely and very very attentive. He went on a break and the bar fell apart NO LIE, Seriously only for him we would be lost. And he's great making the cocktails. Top barman
Negative experience: Stayed at this place with a coach trip a few weeks ago. The room was dirty, the radiator did not work from the room, only by staff from downstairs and was only working for a few hours and the thermostat was broken anyway. The water was cold and never got sorted despite requests so never used the shower. There were strange holes in the walls. One window did not shut properly so was very noisy and draughty, the other window just was completely ineffective. The TV had few channels most of which didn't work. There was no vegetarian option on the evening set meal and complaints were made re the fish being the cheapest fish possible (coley). The packed breakfast next day was not suitable either for veggies. My opinion was that the place should be condemned, the electrics should never pass a safety check. Ghastly experience don't know why the coach company uses the place. Very, very disappointing especially as the temperature had dropped and heating and hot water were essential.
Positive experience: We stayed at the hotel for two nights over the weekend. The hotel is in an excellent location for those arriving by car, with the option to use a nearby Aldi parking lot for free. It’s also convenient for those not driving, as it’s close to the train and bus stations. The rooms are clean but a bit outdated and could use more maintenance. The staff is very kind and was efficient in resolving the various issues we had with our room. The first issue we encountered was that our room was connected to another room, and unfortunately, we could hear all the noise coming from the neighboring room. People were shouting loudly until midnight, and with two children, we had some trouble getting to sleep. The radiators had been completely turned off by the previous occupants, but a maintenance worker was sent immediately and fixed the issue quickly. On the second day, due to a mix-up with room preparation before our arrival, the hotel manager promptly arranged for us to switch rooms. As compensation for the inconvenience, they also offered a free dinner for our children.
Negative experience: The hotel is located in a beautiful Waterfront area. Sadly the hotel is older needs upgrades.
Fantastic experience: I personally thought it was fine. Yes the appearance was slightly old school, I didn't mind that. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to be uncomplicated and easy to deal with. I didn't try the food but the breakfast was good for a 3-star, nice waiters/waitresses.
Fantastic experience: Thank to Tracy's hotel for a fantastic experience. Our first time in this hotel, I have mixed feelings from reading the reviews. This hotel was amazing myself and my daughter that has special needs had a fantastic time. From the room to the staff and the food we could not find any fault with anything. The reception staff are truly amazing. Thank you Tracy's we will most definitely be back
Negative experience: I stayed in room 226. My stay at Tracy Waterford, arranged by our tour group, was unfortunately a negative experience. From the start, I struggled with the room's temperature. The air conditioning was initially unresponsive, and despite multiple requests to the front desk, the issue persisted. Later, the room became excessively hot, forcing me to open the window and use an oscillating fan for relief. The lack of temperature control made for an uncomfortable and unpleasant overnight stay. Needless to say it was a disappointing stay. The broken thermostat, musty room, poor maintenance, made for an uncomfortable experience despite it's great location.
Positive experience: The hotel provides a comfortable stay, with rooms that are both clean and cozy. However, the shared areas—including the lobby, hallways, breakfast area, and pool facilities—would benefit from updates to create a brighter and more inviting atmosphere. Such enhancements would more accurately reflect the hotel’s advertised image and elevate the overall guest experience. The beds are comfortable, though the addition of complimentary water in the rooms would be a welcomed improvement.
Positive experience: The location is great and Waterford is a beautiful place to visit. This hotel is situated right in the middle of the city. The service was good but the room was really small. The photo that I saw on the website was much bigger than the actual one. I booked a double room. Apart from that it was a pleasant stay
Negative experience: Run down dump, illegal electrics in rooms, broken radiator TRV's, broken thermostats from the 1980's. Whoever owns this shouldnt be allowed to run hotels, my cat could do a better job and he can't even use a phone.
Positive experience: We booked a one night B&B + dinner, check in was excellent, room was lovely but the power from the shower was very poor, we went for dinner at 7pm and this is where the service deteriorates, we placed our order and asked for two glasses of red wine (regular) to accompany our meal, my wife ordered mushroom soup and fish and chips, I ordered roast of the day as I didn't want a starter, my wife's soup arrived with no plate under the bowl with the bread roll arriving just as she finished the soup, the wine we ordered had still not arrived so I asked again and this time it came out quickly, our mains arrived but the vegetables to my mains arrived five minutes later. I ordered apple crumble for desert with a coffee, the desert arrived but the coffee never arrived, finally upon settling our drinks bill we were charged 15e instead of 13e for the two glasses of wine. breakfast the following morning was ok, cereal, various juices and self service fry up, check out was perfect, drop the keys to the receptionist and we were on our way, maybe the staff in the restaurant were having a bad night as there was loads of shouting going on from the kitchen which we could hear hence the bad service but being over charged for the drinks I found unacceptable, we had ordered these drinks twice so there was no way they could have got mixed up
Positive experience: This hotel is within walking distance of the railway station, the bus station is just down the street and the hearth of the city is short stroll. The hotel is in need of a complete overhaul as the rooms are dated and some very small. The food was average but the staff were very good and helpful.
Fantastic experience: It's ever so slightly old fashioned but I didn't mind that at all. The staff were lovely, very professional and genuine. Everything with the room was fine, up to standard of a 3-star as you'd expect.
Positive experience: Main bar football on I'm both rooms annoying don't want to eat my food with sports on staff didn't care food was ok but over facing breakfast ok staff didn't tell u what the system was had to keep asking them kept running out of orange juice cranberry like water
Positive experience: Stayed here on a few occasions, so close to town and the hotel was perfect.
Positive experience: Hotel is situated on busy road but it's very quiet inside. Just stopped for 1 night, bed was most comfortable iv slept in , breakfast was good and all staff were very friendly and polite..
Fantastic experience: Went with friends for the 2 days nice food nice rooms and great fun in treacys hotel great stay
Fantastic experience: Stayed here I m Treacy's Waterford September 2024..it's now fancy or corporate but I love but I love bed it for those reasons..Ate in the bar two evenings in a row...Order and pay at the bar to place a food order... The food was so nice and great portion size..the apple crumble was the best I've ever had... needless to say I went back for that alone the second night ha.Pool lovely, room nice and clean I'd definitely go back
Negative experience: Admittedly this hotel is in prime location making getting to it and other places very easy this will be the only positive thing I have to say. ROOMS: feels like something Premiere inn or Travelodge would have forgotten about 10 years ago. I am in a room on my own with two beds pushed together to make a double bed with a gaping Gap in the middle making sleeping very uncomfortable and The bed has been the most uncomfortable thing other than the temperature which js cold and dump even with the windows closed it feels like there's a draft the heating does not work. Sockets hanging off of a wall, TV only controable at TV itself making controlling it almost impossible. The bathroom the water pressure Is nonexistent the water pressure is horrible the shower head is non-adjustable the temperature is it going to be too hot or too cold. There is no Goldilocks. The size of the room is decent enough at least for one person but the furniture is definitely old and antiquated. At night there is a noise always like a fan running took me on two nights to realize this was outside. There has clearly been people smoking inside it is obvious by the smell. I am pretty sure that there are some rooms who have permanent residents residing in them. There is definitely off the mene cooking going on. SPA:I did not get to look at the spa but judging by the quality of everything else I'm pretty sure I'm not missing out on anything. HOTEL:The corridors are dark and bleak lit by very low intensity LEDs that give it to someone haunting shining inspired feel. The lifts are small and cramped. The breakfast I go back to comparing to Premier Inn it is a fry up not sure of the quality of ingredients. Also how long the food is out there for is anybody's guess. The bar was OK as well. STAFF: Some of the staff are lovely very friendly others clearly don't want to be there and don't want you to be there either. Mostly the ones that work in the bar or breakfast area seem to be the nicest half of the reception staff do not give you the time of day. Booking was difficult as the website was antiquated much like the hotel as it turns out when I phoned to book and was told I could stay for the duration I required I was specific in my requirements I spelled out both phonetically and alphabetical my email and reconfirmed everything I never got confirmation email I had to phone to double-check I had not been conned as I already had to give card details. After being assured it was a spelling error I still never got confirmation email but at least I got to my room turning out they had misunderstood duration despite clearly being defined so of course I have to pay extra 1 night. PARKING , it may say it has parking this is about a 5-minute walk two streets away at the back of an aldi you have to get your parking validated by the hotel staff at reception the signage in the car park points back on itself so do not trust it use Google Maps it's an easy walk just hopefully it's not raining. MANAGEMENT . For some reason some manager seems to take upon themselves to come and check the doors out about 11:00 at night knocking and then slamming claiming it has not been shut. This is not the case and it's very disturbing in more ways than one. HOUSEKEEPING . To be honest I asked for the room to be done over once and I took all my valuables with me as I do not want to use the safe I don't think it even works. But they seem to do a decent enough job although they keep putting bags of one towels and other items too often I really don't need it this is a very minor grumble. The cleaning staff I ran into were friendly. WIFI. The WiFi is patchy and signal in hotel is terrible. Also it's over populated network. In short I have advised all my colleagues to never enter this place and if I can I will avoid it. it says it is under renovation I can see from many other posts here it seems to be in that state for some time I would advise you any reader who stumbles here to avoid if possible. This hotel genuinely give me The Shining vibes.
Fantastic experience: The best value hotel I have ever been a guest. Staff are very efficient. Breakfast is filling. Location is excellent so no hesitation in recommending Treacy's hotel Waterford.
Positive experience: Room was fab, leisure centre lovely, need more staff in bar and restaurant, left waiting for ages for drink in bar,and nearly had meal finished by the time the wine came to table.
Negative experience: This hotel is highly overpriced for what is on offer, worse, it demands that you pay *UPFRONT* and *IN FULL* for a room you have not yet even seen! Reception refused to take a pre-authorisation of credit cards {meaning essentially, they will still be paid}... The rooms are tired, shabby and not very clean... the bathrooms need a total overhaul and the mould inside the bath and shower is despicable. Water is warm at best. The safe in our room was faulty, the TV did not work for two nights despite us making several calls to reception, 3 maintenance visits and by Sunday morning, it was squealing... Breakfast overpromises and certainly under-delivers. Pastries are advertised as part of the offering yet we never saw any on two consecutive mornings... This hotel is certainly taking advantage of guests; the location is super - but that's about it. Would *NOT* recommend it on any level especially when charging €150 per night... Stay away!
Negative experience: If you can afford to stay somewhere else in Waterford - do so - this hotel, in it's current format, is a joke and a shocking waste of money. Stayed for 2 nights - never again. The hotel is "grubby / dirty" - I don't think it has had a proper clean in years. Our room was a joke - it was tiny. The window barely opened so there was no fresh air in the room. It was far too warm - we had to have the fan on the whole time. The safe didn't work. The TV didn't work. The maintenance man, who was very friendly, did try to fix it - but it still didn't work. The bathroom was tiny - no storage. A large quantity of black mold around the bath and shower door...!!! Breakfast was very poor - the quality of the ingredients used was extremely cheap. The "hot" food was barely lukewarm. Their menu mentioned there were pastries - I did not see any, on either of the 2 mornings. They charged us E162 a night - which would have been fine if it was worth it - but it certainly was not. This is not about the star rating of this hotel. I have stayed in other 3 stars hotels that were far, far nicer and charged less money. This hotel is just not worth the money they are asking for - it is a disgrace - and as they "demand" payment on ARRIVAL - there is zero comeback from the customer.
Positive experience: The hotel is a good location, but the car park is two streets behind the hotel if you are travelling with family I’d advise to drop them to hotel with luggage, upon arrival The reception staff were nice. The restaurant was good.and a play area for children when you eat which was very convenient,my only complaint was the lady behind the bar I would recommend some hospitality training as her manners are not suited for this job
Positive experience: Good hotel overall. Lovely nights stay. Evie the room and the local pub was enjoyable
Fantastic experience: Currently staying at the hotel for work and, while the rooms / corridors are a bit tired in appearance , the beds are very comfortable, the rooms are warm , location is great , the food is very good and most importantly, the staff are fantastic. While I was having my breakfast this morning, which is well laid out and of good quality, an elderly gentleman with a severe shake in his hand came in. As breakfast is self service, one of the girls on duty noticed him, went over and helped bring everything he need ed back to his table. She even knelt down to tie his shoe lace at one stage, and all done with a smile on her face. I thought it was genuinely, one of the nicest things I have seen, anywhere. It showed a genuine care from one person to another. Hats off to Treacys and all your staff.
Negative experience: We checked in on 7th September for one night stay as a couple, part of a tour group. The room was not ready at check in and we had to wait for cleaning to finish. No aircon in room which was hot and stuffy. Sheets were clearly not changed after previous occupants left the room! Shower tap was broken and difficult to use. Grab rail in shower was loose which is a serious issue if someone grabbed it and they fell in the bath. Many tiles were chipped and broken in the bathroom. Apple juice was watered down at breakfast and barely tasted like apple. Coffee tasted terrible and was clearly as cheap as possible. In summary the hotel is in a poor state and urgently in need of renovation. Clearly the hotel is just a tour group sausage machine, packing in as many groups as possible per day.
Positive experience: Location was noisy but was alright wouldnt notice when window closed food was fab rooms were lovely staff were helpful swimming pool area was clean toilets in bar area were stinking
Fantastic experience: The location of the hotel is fantastic, was able to walk along the river and into the little side streets where there is bars and restaurants. Everything was within walking distance. Waterford is a stunning city.
Positive experience: I stayed one night, the room was fine and the location is pretty central. The only negative thing is that it's really noisy, you can hear everything that happens in the room next to yours. Not fun.
Positive experience: Basic hotel in need of some TLC. We got a good deal with supervalu breaks. There was a smell of smoke in our room when we checked in. Breakfast limited but what was available was good. Bar food was good . Staff were very pleasant and friendly. If you go expecting luxury you will be disappointed. In saying that it was good for what we needed.
Fantastic experience: After seeing only average reviews for this hotel, my wife and I booked it without high expectations. However, it exceeded these in basically every way: the room was modern, the location perfect, and the staff all helpful. The spa facilities are not the newest, but you still get access to a pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Signage could be better here but the pool was quieter than many hotels. A small fridge could be a nice addition to the room, which was otherwise perfect for our needs and felt like good value. The WiFi was also reliable and fast enough to do work on. I would happily return when visiting Waterford again and it really is in walking distance to all the local landmarks.
Positive experience: Room nice bar few minor problems no stopper for bath and tap handle was squeaky overall good rooms. Wi-Fi was coming and going though the night no matter where you were or what wifi you connected to wifi was fast (when working)
Fantastic experience: Came in to the bar after our train was cancelled, Amanda was so lovely and took great care of us
Negative experience: I wasn’t very happy with the hotel. The staff are lovely and the bar is fun in the evening but the room was terrible. Our room was nothing like the website said a standard double looks like and the room was not in a well kept quality. Terribly placed wallpaper some places ripped, a hole in the bathtub like the bath wouldn’t fill up, it was extremely loud at night as the room was beside the ac units that were load we could hear dripping noises all night, walls are paper thin I could basically hear the conversation next room). Tbh it felt like as if I was staying at my nanny house.
Positive experience: Treacys hotel in Waterford, staff were very welcoming and on the ball. The bedrooms are a bit outdated but the bed is very comfortable and has all that you require during your stay. Nice and simple pool and jacuzzi area, good old harty food, the food in the restaurant was fab the staff were exceptional the high standard of attention they give their guests is mighty especially Lauren and Dermot, you couldn't ask for better. Breakfast was lovely and the food was all hot and delicious The self service was mighty. All in all a very nice stay and the hotel is near some major attractions. Would definitely recommend the hotel and will definitely stay in the hotel again. It's definitely a hotel where you will get value for money and very professional staff
Fantastic experience: I was extremely shocked and pleasantly surprised at the amazing service this hotel has to offer. The staff were the most amazing staff we have seen in a long time. Although the rooms are slightly smaller, they make great use of the space they have. Food was delicious. There is a very relaxed atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. We are looking forward to breaking our next break here.
Negative experience: We were put in room 214 view lovely but the squeaky floor above were horrendous especially when the people on top were walking back and fore till gone 3.30 am we got no sleep complained every day nothing was done about it the staff in bar and restaurant were fab very friendly but will not be going to Tracey's hotel Waterford again so disappointed
Fantastic experience: I recently stayed here with my mom and two young sons. We got a great deal on SuperValu getaways including breakfast. The location is absolutely perfect and free parking is available a short walk from the hotel, just around the corner. The staff are fabulous and friendly, they are most accommodating. The hotel interiors could do with a refurb, however, I can't fault the comfort of the beds or the service. The breakfast was a self service full Irish, cereal, fruit salad, yogurt, juice, tea/coffee. It was basic but for the price we paid and for a 3 star, as a previous reviewer said, if you don't go in expecting the Ritz, then it was very satisfactory. We would stay again. Thank you for a lovely stay .
Negative experience: The rooms were in a state of disrepair with no working phones or wifi and a musty and smoky smell. They moved us once but we encountered the same situation with our second room. The front desk staff was extraordinarily rude when trying to discuss the issues with them to find a solution or get maintenance to look into the wifi issues. We ultimately decided to cut our stay short and move on to another hotel the situation was so bad. When we told the manager that we were doing so his only response was to ask if we needed additional time on our parking to get our luggage out of the hotel. I would recommend avoiding this hotel if you have another option. We were highly unsatisfied and the staff did not seem to care and were quite rude about it.
Negative experience: This place is a sad waste of a great location. The decor is outdated and needs a good refurb. As soon as I sat on my bed I felt the wires from the base through the thin old mattress The lady at breakfast was lovely and I can’t fault her at all and the staff running the bar in the evening were also amazing
Positive experience: The menu is excelent. Although for dietry needs it could have been better. Also if when takeing the orders for each table perhaps numbering the table and so the staff would know where the orders where for and not have to shout them.
Positive experience: Our room was comfy with some features needing some updating. The late night revellers were a bit disruptive in the hallway. Location is good, but their parking is a 10-min walk away. The bed was OK.
Positive experience: On a coach trip, hotel and staff lovely ,as a vegetarian they had no problem catering for me ,entertainment at night very good, staff run off their feet trying to serve at the bar ,would recommend.
Negative experience: Hotel in serious need of renovation - corridors are dark, bedrooms dull, bathroom plain. Smell of weed in corridors. Breakfast was poor - limited options. Not even a croissant on offer. The worst hotel we have stayed in in Ireland. They should add an s to the word hotel because it has that feeling in Treacys.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant place to stay. Just on the night, we decided to dine in the bar because there was live music, it was our mistake as there was only one barman on duty for the restaurant and bar. We ordered drinks and when they arrived we ordered dinner and dessert, when the dinner arrived eventually it was very tasty indeed. We had to ask about the dessert we had ordered ! Eventually, it arrived, and the barman said all the kitchen staff had gone, and he made it himself. Otherwise, it was brilliant.
Positive experience: Only went to the bar. Nice heated seats outside. The good is alright nothing special that's why 3 stars from me. Am average place
Negative experience: We had our first family getaway here as it was described as a family friendly hotel. Upon arrival we decided we would grab lunch in the bar - it was busy so we went straight down the back so our kids wouldn't be a bother to anyone also it was beside the so called play area. My son had run in ahead of us and as soon as we saw the place we had to coerce him out with the car arcade game beside it. It was a hazard. Not fit for children. The food was nice and the bar staff were very accommodating granted they were quite busy on the bar side. The hotel itself was fine but we are so disappointed with our stay.
Fantastic experience: First visit to Southern Ireland with a popular bus tour company We stayed at Tracy's Hotel Waterford on a bed, breakfast and evening dinner basis. The rooms were clean comfortable and well equipped and we had a view of the river just across the road. The breakfast was buffet style and had a good choice of quality sausage, bacon, black pudding, white pudding fried, scrambled or boiled egg and the toast was made for you. Tea, coffee, fruit juices and various cerials and fruit were also available. The dinners were a three course with a choice of three items for starters, three for main course and a buffet desert. The food was very good quality and well presented by very friendly staff who served you. Overall a very good hotel, well situated for access to the town centre and local supermarkets were situated close by. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel for a place to stay and get a good night's sleep.
Negative experience: Tried to book a function for an 80th birthday in 12 months time. Family and friends travelling to the event so we need to have it booked and rooms secured etc. and was told to contact them about it next year. They obviously don’t want the business.
Positive experience: Good hotel stayed in room 251 good room heating worked well. The reception staff couldn't have been better, all the staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful stayed for St Patrick's day celebrations had a great time, will be back again in may
Negative experience: The staff in the reception area are not helpful at all. It’s almost like they don’t want to be there. The rooms are dates and dirty. It’s noisy. We were promised a packed breakfast as we had to leave early, but there wasn’t enough for everyone. No coffee provided on departure, although we were promised coffee. I would not stay there again. I was mostly disappointed by the unfriendliness of the staff, as this ruined the stay in Ireland for our guests.
Negative experience: I've stayed here numerous times, the last time before my stay on Friday the 8th of March was in October 2023. And to say there has been a huge decline is an understatement. Smell of cigarette smoke and weed on our floor all day and night, a gaggle of Dublin women screaming and shouting all night long and nothing done about it. When I reported the smell of smoke they did nothing about it. The noise complaints also went unanswered. The water pressure in the shower was weak. The staff were lovely, the food was nice, the pool although is in desperate need of renovation. The group of Ukrainians should be served breakfast in another area, I was shoved at one point by a lady who then proceeded to speak in her native language in a violent tone. I was paying for my breakfast there, they aren't. Prioritise your customers Mr. Treacy!!!
Positive experience: Stayed here with my brothers, our wives and my adult son for a birthday celebration. The room was clean and tidy, all staff were always well turned out and very polite, very quiet experience compared with my last stay. I didn't appreciate being the couple who were refused the meal deal but I suppose there has to be a limit. Instead I ate at a neighbouring Indian restaurant, EastEnders which was excellent in price, quality and attitude. Whilst the hotel is not central it is within walking distance of the shopping main street and tourist features. Perfect for car touring the Bronze Coast too. The streets directly behind the hotel around its carpark provision could do with some cleaning attention, though not the hotels fault. Give the clock museum a visit entertaining on a wet Irish afternoon with friendly staff. Very enjoyable stay loved the use of the pool. A real highlight.
Positive experience: This is a very friendly staff hotel with staff and customers alike . We have been coming to Tracy's for a numbers of years and will always return. Downside side would be the food with the exception of breakfast which I like. The rooms are very warm in winter but rooms could do with a upgrade at some stage. Music very good when it's on. I'm One thing for sure it's a very well run hotel staff are always obliging and helpful at all times plus we have met some very nice customers over the years
Negative experience: AVOID THIS HOTEL this one of the worst if not the worst hotel in Ireland. The room stinked of urine the room looked old and wasn't clean enough. The TV was tiny and beds hard as rocks the pool was horrible was cold.
Positive experience: Hotel is under renovation. Good renovations done and hotel will be lovely when completed. Alittle dated where it hasn't been updated yet though. Good value. Food and staff are lovely.
Negative experience: We paid a fair amount to stay at this hotel as we were told it was "family friendly" don't get me wrong the staff were absolutely lovely couldn't do enough, but the play area was Cold dirty and unfit for children. I would say it was dangerous as the floor was not covered for safety. The pool was unclean and slippy( my son slipped numerous times). The room was nice and clean. Our dinner was standard nothing nice or really bad. I wouldn't be against the humanitarian crisis but this hotel is housing immigrants so if your travelling with young children then this isn't the place for you. We were disappointed to be honest and wouldn't advise anyone with young kids to bother staying here.
Negative experience: This place is run down and dirty. Do not stay here. There are much better options. The noise from the road kept us awake most of the night. The beds were broken. The wallpaper was ripped off the wall in places. We asked for ice with a drink and it smelled. The breakfast was over cooked and greasey and there were no healthy warm options available. The service was terrible. It took the manager over a week to get back to me. He offered me a free stay. I would never stay there again.
Positive experience: Some people's reviews are just so dramatic they literally must have went in to check every last thing in the room n look for reasons to give out!!! It clearly states its a 3 star hotel, personally I think if these were in a 5 star they'd still find reasons to give out!!! Stay at home!!! I've stayed here a good few times,, nice enough of a hotel beds are clean, bathrooms are clean, pool is clean, food is OK, great location, music was great both nites, main thing the staff were so helpful n couldn't do anymore for us, we had a spot of bother with the crowd across the way from us didn't bother us we just let them on they were young but didn't know how to respect the place in general!!! The staff were brilliant from the cleaners to the night porters to the housekeeping manager to the receptionist all fantastic well done,, well be back!!! Keep in mind it's a 3 star not a 5 star folks
Negative experience: Very disappointed with this hotel. Advertised as 3 star so we were not expecting luxury standard by any means, however this hotel falls well below 3 star. Very dated and run down, appears quiet dirty, the elevator was dirty, wall in corridors very dirty and randomly patched up in lots of places which made it look even worse. Room was fine, clean enough but very run down and patched up, small touch up could improve over all impressions alot, around window dirty and badly in need of paint, bathroom floor tiles broken, rusty shower rail and bath stopped. Very noisy work taking place beside our room from 9.30am. Bar food extremely over priced for standard and size served (we went and got more food after dinner down town), dessert came out of a box absolutely no doubt about that, neither of us are this as it was not very nice at all. Bar cold, unwelcoming and run down. Asked for high chair for my 11 month old and no tray table on it, when I asked for one with tray I was told they didn't have such a thing and most of his food ended up on the floor, not ideal. Staff were helpful and polite. The entire hotel could do with update as 3 star is definitely too generous for this hotel as it is.
Negative experience: We had a stay during a road trip who was booked by an agency the last September. We had some difficulties to find the parking place near the hotel so we called the receptionist. She was not very polite and I have to park in front of to get the maps at the front desk because her information was not precise. During the check-in, we had to insist and dig several times to have all the information about the hotel and the spa (spa who not working at this time). Arrived in the room (by an old elevator you can't trust) we discovered a dirty room. Dead bugs on the floor, stain on the wall, spot on the windows and rusty on the shower bar. We saw hair in sheets and dust under the bed. The breakfast was very simply and the breakfast area seems very oldest. The second receptionist at the check-out was very polite and kind, she give us a free parking ticket for apologies all the things we mentioned. You have to AVOID this hotel.
Fantastic experience: We brought our 8 year daughter as a Christmas present and she had a ball. The rooms are small and a little dated but are comfortable, clean and warm. The bath in the bathroom was tiny but the bathroom was clean and the shower worked perfectly. The swimming pool is really nice and clean but a little chilly so we didn't stay in there long. We ate in both the bar and restaurant on different nights and the food and service were both excellent. The location was perfect for walking around. Every member of staff we met were just lovely and really are a credit to the hotel. We'd stay again.
