Our comment from FitFit Ireland about West Wood Club:
Welcome to West Wood Club, a premier fitness center located in Clontarf, Ireland. Offering top-notch facilities including a 50-meter swimming pool, gym equipment, spa amenities, and a variety of fitness classes, it's a hub for health and wellness.
Many users praise the great selection of fitness classes and the friendly, approachable staff who create a welcoming atmosphere. The gym is noted for its cleanliness and well-maintained equipment, making it a pleasant space to work out. The recent renovation of the spa area has added luxury, with amenities that help members unwind after a tough workout.
However, there are some areas for improvement. Several users have expressed concerns about overcrowding, particularly during peak hours, leading to long waits for machines. Additionally, some have experienced issues with customer service, stating that response times could be better and that some staff seem unhelpful or dismissive.
Overall, West Wood Club provides excellent fitness opportunities and amenities, conducive to a healthy lifestyle, though some attention to customer experience and facility management would greatly enhance the overall satisfaction of its valued members.

West Wood Club: Opinions
Positive experience: Great gym. Using sauna & ice room at the moment as awaiting surgery. Swimming is also excellent. Zero complaints.
Fantastic experience: There are Ice-SPA、Sauna、Steam area. Nice SPA makes people relaxed
Negative experience: In my view, the worst customer service ever… Do not recommend.
Fantastic experience: Something for everyone of all levels of fitness.. my favourite classes are the body balance and core fitness classes. Between 30-60 mins and easy enough to plan a few a week given the timetables. Great instructors make it enjoyable too!
Fantastic experience: Such an cosy place, good food and amazing deal for bottomless brunch. Anyka was amazing, I couldn’t have a break from the jugs of mimosas, wish I live locally and I can always come here
Fantastic experience: For all this women's who s looking for a good personal trainer Karen she s the one , easy to get along with friendly and approachable wich is exactly what I was looking for Karen is an excellent PT she listen and observe and clearly she loves what she does Highly recommend her
Positive experience: Not gonna sit here and grill the gym as the staff are out of this world friendly, I’d go as far as calling some of them my friends at this point. The equipment is nice, blue gym could get some more love to be honest but yeah… they also have plenty of other activities too which is wonderful. However it is quite saddening the membership going to 99€ now, I guess if you use all the gyms machines and pool/spa maybe it’s worth it but most of us only use it for the exercise, it’s disappointing the membership being increased to 1200€ a year Anyway, nothing but good reviews for the gym apart from the obvious fee, place is spotless too, if the machines are broken they do tend to fix them as soon as possible
Negative experience: Today is 31st March 2025. I just came from there, Clontarf gym. I went to start the trial, in reception I was told to wait in the living room and wait for a staff member to call me. I was in the chair facing the main door and reception, I saw also more people coming for trial or admission. I waited 40 min, I saw two people that came after me being called and taken to a meeting room. The guy at reception saw me this entire time then I decided to leave this guy in reception was on the phone. I went to him and said "I'm leaving" he answered "there's someone coming to see you", I Said "no bother" and left. Seriously, 40min or even more if I would stay? That's the treatment I got there. I'm really disappointed with the service with someone that wanna become a member.
Negative experience: I reported an issue about a month ago, spoke with several staff members, including the manager, but none were helpful. Who do I need to talk to be heard?? This lack of support for members is unacceptable—terrible customer service!
Negative experience: Yet another membership price increase incoming 1st of April (€89/m to €99/m) for very little additions to the clubs as a whole not to mention ongoing issues with pool access in Clontarf, they boast about how much investment is going into all 6 clubs in terms of equipment upgrades etc. however what’s the point in upgrading equipment if it’s so poorly maintained and breakdowns regularly lasting days if not weeks? Not to mention, the general cleanliness of high traffic areas across all clubs is shocking, in particular the pool areas, changing rooms and spa areas. The clontarf changing rooms have remained unchanged since the mid 2000s with no extra capacity added for an ever growing membership base, they’re grubby and outdated. New changing rooms have been on the table for the last few years but no sign of any progress… I guess that comes with taking on more members than they can cater for. In recent developments which they are keeping silent on socials for obvious reasons and only issuing emails, there is major mechanical issues with the pool in Clontarf which have been ongoing since the start of the year, the latest update is that the pool remains closed due to numerous issues having been discovered resulting in the pool deck having to be dug up. The general impression from the email sent is that there is going to be some serious remediation needed to fix the issues they’ve found with update emails “an update is coming on Friday” reminiscent of the never-ending Spa area updates that went from taking a few months to taking nearly 2.5 years to complete. If how they dealt with that whole project is anything to go by it doesn’t instil a single bit of reassurance that there won’t be a repeat of the same delays when it comes to getting the pool back open and fully operational. How they can stand over a price increase with the massive profits they’re already making from record membership numbers not to mention the loss of key facilities due to an obvious lack of long term regular maintenance is just mind blowing. Members want a club that is clean, functions well with sufficient capacity to meet demand, you can pump money into fancy tech, high end equipment and front of house remodelling but it doesn’t change the fact the place is falling apart underneath due to a complete lack of proper facilities management.
Negative experience: I have choose this gym even being the most expensive gym in the area to do training and use the pool and sign up myself, my husband and my son. Definitely doesn’t worth the money. Gym is packed. Loads of space, but insufficient equipment and organisation. The pool is constantly closed. I paid extra for my son having swimming lessons and is constantly cancelled due to pool issues. So I pay his membership for nothing basically. Now I have to pay for 1 year due to contract signed.
Positive experience: Great Body Balance class on Sunday at 3.15!
Negative experience: I have been a member for 7 years or more. I gave it a 5 stars review 5 years ago, but lately it is just a disappointment. I find it stressful. Queues for parking to the point that I had to turn back home a couple of times or like today Park in Clontarf and walk to the Gym, running for my class. The works for the sauna and entrance hall were on for years and when they were finally finished members have been hit with an increase on the membership and again last month. Is it overcrowded or lack of organisation? Are there popular activities and classes on all at the same time? Do they care?
Negative experience: The decline in this club over the past couple of years is astonishing. There seems to be no cap on membership and as a result the facilities cant cope .The visit to the club starts with a lengthy queue for parking any time of the day.The changing room is crowded and shower facilities filthy. The gym area cant cope with the volume of people in it and as a result there are not enough machines available for use without having to queue for them. What was once a pleasant experience visiting the gym is now stressful and unpleasant
Hi Paul,
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts – and for being so candid. I completely understand your concerns, and you’re absolutely right to highlight the current pressure on our facilities. Growth in membership has brought challenges, particularly with parking, changing rooms, and gym floor space.
Most importantly, thank you for being a loyal member. We truly value your continued support.
That said, I want you to know these issues are being actively addressed.
Our management team, in collaboration with our architects, is finalising a comprehensive club upgrade plan for 2025. This includes brand-new, larger changing areas for both men and women, additional studio space, and a major expansion of the gym floor to better accommodate demand. We’re also working on parking improvements to make every visit smoother from the moment you arrive.
We’re fully committed to restoring the enjoyable, energising experience you once had – and elevating it even further.
Thanks again for your feedback. It’s helping us build a better club for everyone.

Negative experience: Cut down a load of trees during nesting season illegally, terrible community members.
Positive experience: Westwood Gym is a great place to work out. The equipment is great, the staff is always friendly, and the gym is spotless, which makes a huge difference. It’s clear they put effort into keeping everything well-maintained, and I appreciate that. I never have to wait too long for machines, and the overall atmosphere is really welcoming. That said, the pricing is frustrating (€99 from April 2025) I only use the main gym, but I’m paying for a bunch of amenities I never touch—like the pool, sauna, restaurant, kids’ area, and tennis courts. It just doesn’t feel fair to pay the same as someone who takes full advantage of everything. A more flexible membership option would make a lot of sense for people like me. I like the gym itself, but I wish they’d rethink the pricing. If they did, it would easily be a five-star experience.
Fantastic experience: Nice gym enough equipment. Nice pool and sauna.
Fantastic experience: Love Love love love Karens young at heart class she is absolutely brilliant. The class is amazing. She pushes us to be the best we can be and after the class I always feel fantastic
Negative experience: Horrible experience, please avoid. This has got to be the most unprofessional and expensive gym (close to €1,000 annual membership) in Ireland and yet they can do whatever they want because they basically have a monopoly in the gym market. It's rare to find a gym with a swimming pool, which is really important to me as I love to swim, and that is why I paid the horrendous fees only to be treated like dirt. Most of the staff are straight up rude and condescending. They lied in their policies and have openly abused me. I don't want to get into specifics as I am afraid of them, but as the victim, I was savagely attacked by them. I lost months on my gym membership because I was afraid to workout or swim without them making stuff up about me, not knowing if I'll be safe. I am absolutely sick to my stomach writing this review, but if I can help one person with my review, then it will have been worth it. To note about the gym itself, very overcrowded with typical rude 'gym bros' that stay on machines, switching between themselves so that no one else can use them, while staying on their phones half the time, rather than working out. Very poor gym etiquette. Lots of girls in revealing outfits filming themselves working out and looking for guys to harass for 'looking' in their general direction. The classes are very rushed with no consideration for who is attending with a big muscular gentleman asking elderly ladies to put on another 20kgs of weight no problem. Some people have gotten hurt like this with absolutely no shame on the gym team's part and blaming those taking part in their classes. The swimming pool is closed for 'repairs' frequently and is usually colder than the Irish sea. I have gotten severe colds numerous times because of them, which was of course my fault according to them. The 'spa' area that they advertised for months on their website before they even built it (false advertising), is filled with so much chlorine that your eyes are literally burning and you need to wear goggles. Your lungs are filled with chlorine for hours after being there. The Jacuzzis literally have foam on the surface with chlorine deposits! The ventilation is a joke. Many facilities are often under 'repair' with male mechanics making drilling noise (while you're trying to relax) and walking around in shoes in the spa area (and ladies dressing rooms!), leaving the doors and windows open, even during winter, while everyone is wet with zero care in the world on their part. Unfortunately the staff are the worst, how they convince themselves that they're perfect and that any issues that you raise is a YOU problem. I have been very civil and understanding, and have never been treated with respect by some of their staff. I'm sorry to write a bad review as I prefer to praise good people and companies for good work that they do, but the only good thing I can say about Westwood Club is that if you want a gym with lots of things and a swimming pool for a lot of money, this is your place. I understand if you want to join because there's no other place that offers this many facilities, but I'd like to note that this place has literally caused me sleepless nights and I had to share my experience so that you know exactly what you're getting yourself into. I've moved onto a gym where there is peace and quiet and I don't have to stress every time I walk in the door, and that's why I doubt I'll ever go back to this gym.
Negative experience: The price of a luxury gym but the facilities of Flyfit. Always a huge queue to park at Westwood Clontarf and the facilities are in really bad condition. The entry way to the pool/sauna smells like a sewer. The gym itself is old and always dirty. The ladies gym always have broken machines. Its location is ideal but that’s about it. The price increase is outrageous considering there’s been no improvement in the gym facilities other than the actual entrance to Westwood.
Negative experience: I regret having joined without trying it before...worst gym i ever used and i need to pay 100$ per month. reasons: - Very old machines. -50% of machines are missing maintenance, the ones with pulleys on it are extremely hard to push what makes loose your weight record (you know what i mean if you are a proper gym user) - Males changing room are so small and packed that seem worst that the local council in Finglas - I have never seen before a queue of 3 ppl waiting to use an area/machine...and it happens here very often. i cannot stand why such an expensive gym misses a control of the members going in/out - I yet do not have phisical QR code for entry as they do not have material to make it (btw they ask for 630€ joinning fee) - Blue Gym is very small, and has low selection of weights. - Parking is obsolet with only one entry and exit with creates long cars waiting queues - now the increased their prices withou having done any renovations in the building
Positive experience: I would say one of the best clubs in Dublin It has swimming pool tennis courts gym climbing wall and boxing area
Negative experience: Might be better off goinng to Ben Dunne or Fly Fit because that state of this. Edit because my memebership went up again by €10. That is €20 in the last 2 years. It is too busy even when I go early in the morning, or late in the evening outisde of the “peak hours”, overpacked and it puts me off going. I went a few times at 6am when it opens and there was a stream of people going in. Going in the evening people are bumping into you and waiting on machines. Equipment is often broken or untidy pool and toilets aren’t that clean, people don’t wipe the machines. I have started going to another gym and thinking seriously of cancelling membership. The other 2 westwoods are just weird, badly planned and the one in leopardstown was dark and very dirty. I would have already cancelled if this one didn’t happen to be the closest to where I live. Some staff are excellent but the good trainers often leave. I really think the owners need to reevaluate how they do business because if you are packing the gym as full as possible and you are putting up the price membership, this is cheating loyal customers who stayed paying memberships during the pandemic and who have been here for years. I wouldn’t mind if the rates were going up but I could still comofortably work out. Previously a few friends were put off joining by lazy attittude of some staff members who did joining who were continuously texting and who saw the conditions weren’t that great and I am starting to feel they are right.
Negative experience: Update as of 07/03/2025: membership fees increased to €99 per month fo an adult!!! Overcrowded in general and especially with teens who are there to socialise. The rare rules in place are not respected, there is nobody to enforce them (even though there should be no under 16 in the blue gym they are running around messing with the equipment). The lack of supervision in the 2 gyms is shocking. Also forget about asking anything to the staff at reception: they are rude and unhelpful If you ever try to reach out to management nobody will bother answering. Definitely no value for €89 a month /€99 from April 2025
Negative experience: The gym is nice and big. But the staff are rude and don't seem to be willing to serve the public well. It was my first time, I wanted to do a trial and get to know the gym and I thought the service of the reception was terrible and manager.
Fantastic experience: Westwood Gym is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly staff that made me feel like part of the community. The facility itself is immaculate, with top-notch equipment and a wide variety of classes to choose from. I particularly love the group fitness sessions; the instructors are motivating and really know how to push you to your limits while keeping it fun! The locker rooms are clean and well-maintained, and I appreciate the spacious layout that allows for a comfortable workout environment. Whether I’m lifting weights or participating in a high-energy spin class, I always leave feeling energized and accomplished. What really sets Westwood Gym apart is its sense of community. I’ve made some great friends here, and I always look forward to my workouts. If you’re looking for a place that offers not just great facilities but also a supportive atmosphere, Westwood Gym is the place to be! Highly recommend!
Negative experience: Scammers? Asking to pay joining fees. 125€ for nothing. Can’t explain why need to pay and where money goes but definitely not getting money back when leaving. Staff is rude and mean. I never seen that happen before.
Fantastic experience: West Wood Club in Clontarf is a well-equipped gym with a lot to offer, but it has its pros and cons. The facilities are top-notch, with a 50-meter swimming pool, a wide range of gym equipment, tennis courts, and even a climbing wall. There are plenty of group fitness classes, and the spa area has recently reopened after renovations, which is a nice touch. The staff are really friendly and professional. That said, the gym can get very crowded, especially in the evenings, making it harder to get on machines or find space. Another issue is parking, which has become more difficult since they lost an overflow car park, meaning it can be a hassle to find a spot during peak hours. Overall, if you’re looking for a high-end gym, West Wood Club is a great option and if you is a member you can access any Westwood club.
Negative experience: Having been a member for 3 years now, I can say the place has only gotten worse: - Customer service is basically non existant, you can try calling any day of the week atany time of the day - they won't pick up - The changing room has proably been the same since they first opened, as it very dated and the showers are disgusting - Even though the gym is really good, when a machine breaks, it will take them several days to fix (for the price people are paying, it should fixed sooner) - if you have any issues with payment or admin, each member of reception will give you a different explanation of what has happened - The sales people will tell you their schedule is packed whilst standing at reception having a laugh with the receptionist - If an area of the club is closed, they will never send out an email or text to tell you, and of course you can't call to check if it has reopened because they won't answer. - I haven't had any issue with staff, they all seem quite nice. It's just the confusion. It's shuch a shame, because the gym has so much potential, but is very badly managed.
Negative experience: I had a terrible experience trying to join this gym. I booked an appointment with a staff member to start a four-day trial, showed up on time, and he never bothered to show up. No call, no message—nothing. I walked around the gym myself and was told he would call me later, but of course, that never happened. The next morning, I attempted to attend a spin class, only to receive a message saying, "Sorry you missed your appointment, give said staff member a call to rearrange." Seriously? He was the one who didn't show up! Completely unprofessional. I had heard the staff here weren’t great, but I wasn’t expecting this level of incompetence. If you’re lucky enough to deal with a different staff member, maybe your experience won’t be quite as awful, but I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. As someone who's comfortable in a gym, I’ll just go elsewhere, but for a beginner, this would be an especially discouraging experience. Save yourself the frustration and find a gym that actually respects potential members.
Fantastic experience: Strength classes with Irina are excellent, she is always energetic and focussed on ensuring you get a good workout, she is the ultimate professional and Westwood wouldn’t be the same without her - 5 stars
Fantastic experience: Love Clontarf Young at Heart. Great exercise…. Love the music & the motivation
Fantastic experience: Excellent gym, conveniently located around my house. The facilities are amazing.
Negative experience: Go there if you are desperate. The place is full of employees inventing different excuses just to let you wait for a membership assessment. At my question “could you assess my request now” their answer was “a member will follow up on your online application within 48h” … “you know it’s February, it’s peak season” these the words while I counted three different employees coming speak with us and at least three more standing in the back staring, and definitely not busy. Whoever invented their employee bonus commission system, literally never thought of customer experience. Really avoid this place, if you can.
Negative experience: Horrible service, receptionist gives you wrong information. They promised guest passes on registration and never send them. They are the only big gym in the area and the least of their concerns is customer satisfaction. Rebecca and Jack tried to be nice at the beginning but they were not helpful and we couldn't manage to play our tennis game.
Negative experience: Overall it’s a nice gym but im giving it one star because it’s absolutely packed all the time, sauna is wedged and noisy, the staff aren’t helpful, the smell at the changing rooms/pool is shocking it’s like burst sewer pipe. It’s not enjoyable working out when it’s so packed all the time even late on a Friday or Saturday you’d think it would be somewhat quiet but never. Not worth the money. I’ve been in nicer places for less. The joining fee is A JOKE. Don’t waste your time
Negative experience: Spa area disgusting and unhygienic. Needs supervision or signage.
Negative experience: Zero hygiene standards in spa. Membership oversold. Terrible experience
Negative experience: The gym is always over capacity always over busy; but the facilities are very nice to be fair.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic selection of classes by experienced fitness instructors through the Les Mills program. Classes run from early morning to late evening 7 days a week. Large well equipped gym and 50 mtr pool and spa areas. Creche and kids areas. Plus O'Brien's Cafe for refreshments
Positive experience: great amenities and equipment. however the gym is always busy, not very appealing to go to after a busy day, stressful atmosphere (sauna always packed too)
Fantastic experience: EANNA, CONNOR AND DAVIS on reception today were extremely helpful , I had some issues and they were able to help me right away, thank you
Fantastic experience: Such a nice and spacious space to exercise. Friendly staff
Fantastic experience: Love the gym, and boby pump class.. its great. I just wish you would hold the next class coming in after so that we can put weights away
Fantastic experience: I really liked the club. I enjoyed the jacuzzi the most. There are also two saunas, a swimming pool with water at a good temperature, a large number of exercise rooms and rooms for group classes with a trainer. The club is located in an easily accessible place next to the dart station.
Positive experience: Fabulous facilities and very friendly staff. Such a pity the shower area in the Men’s room in Clontarf are always DISGUSTING. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.
Positive experience: Love Monday yoga, especially the new instructor. WHY does Westwood allow so many latecomers to classes. Today people were coming 10 minutes after class started. This happens every class and yoga same people every week. Spoils the atmosphere of the class and is disruptive. Shows no respect to instructor or others who arrive in time. Spoiler.
Negative experience: Customer service is truly a complete disappointment. About two months ago, I wrote to get information about private tennis lessons and stated that I wanted to cancel my membership if I did not start the lessons. They didn’t respond for a long time, and when they finally did, they dismissed my questions by saying that they had already shared the tennis schedule with me, almost as if scolding me. Since they didn’t get back to me about canceling the membership, I sent another email on December 13th to request cancellation, and no one responded. When I went for an in-person meeting on December 19th, I was told I needed to send an email to another address for the cancellation. They stated that cancellations made after the 20th of the month would also require payment for the following month. I sent another email on December 19th to cancel again because they failed to inform me in a timely manner, yet I’m now being told I have to pay for January as well. Why should we bear the cost of the inconvenience they caused? Their communication skills are very poor; they only give you an email address when you ask something, and they don’t even respond to those emails. They never provide clear answers. I don’t think they are even familiar with their own gym rules or membership policies
Negative experience: The attention in administration is VERY BAD. They give you bad information from reception and then they DO NOT solve it. I have asked twice about the membership cancellation process, they have always told me to send an email to the administration during my last month, when I did it, they told me that they would charge me an extra month (which I will not use because I am not in the country, which I clearly expressed) because I should have sent the cancellation 60 days before. THEY GIVE BAD INFORMATION TO CHARGE MORE MONTHS AND THEY DON'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. If you need to cancel, do it 60 days before, so you avoid having contact with this area.
Negative experience: Customer service is dreadful, me and 5 friends are members, 2 only joining recently and when we recommended another friend to the gym he came down to try it out. My friends and myself all receive 4 day trial before joining. We all joined after one day . .When my friend who was looking to join came down he refused a free trial and was told he was just looking to get in for free that they dont do them only after me equiring about them the day before and . told no problem bring your friend down. Sign up fee are different for every person aswell me and my friend signed up and were both charged differently . Spa has improved since renovations but still charged swhile it was closed for oover a year nearly
Fantastic experience: I really enjoy this gym! The equipment is modern and well-maintained, and they offer a great variety of activities for everyone. My personal favorites are the climbing wall and the spa. The spa facilities are amazing, they include two saunas, two jacuzzis, a salt room, and an ice bath, which is perfect for relaxing after a workout. The only downside is that it can get quite busy during peak hours, and you might have to wait for some of the machines. However, if you can go during off-peak times, it’s absolutely worth it. Highly recommend!
Negative experience: There needs to be signs up in large writing in sauna Area. Telling people how to shower before using jacuzzi.. Especially coming out of sauna. Utterly disgusting place with no supervision.
Fantastic experience: Gym has multiple of everything and spa is top notch
Fantastic experience: Best gym in town , worth every penny
Negative experience: This club is filthy and over price for the facilities they offer. There's zero notion of healthy and safety too
Negative experience: Customer service non existent. I left my phone number to ring back about a membership 2 weeks ago and still no call. I emailed about a child's birthday party last month and still no response. They might be having too much business (parking problems is another illustration of same).
Negative experience: Be cautious with the gym's freeze membership option! When I joined, I paid for the days in arrears, which seemed fair. However, I later needed to freeze my membership for two months but was surprised to find that their freeze option only applies from the 1st to the 30th of each month. Since I needed my freeze for a month from the 15th to the 15th, I was left without any flexibility or alternative solutions. I reached out for assistance, but unfortunately, I received no helpful options. Overall, very disappointing customer service!
Fantastic experience: Clontarf and westwood are the gold standard In gym experience I'm a member the new Spa is fantastic , sandymount is great to relax and is much quieter all gyms have been refurbished and are always been updated, staff are lovely, 5 stars ,I might suggest would be lovely to bring a friend or family who couldn't do a membership as a pay as you go once now and again
Negative experience: Update Oct 2024, all of the machines have now been replaced and issue resolved...I have been coming here for many years but I am now a member only because it is convenient. My main issue is the maintenance of the equipment with machines regularly being out of order and sometimes for months at a time. If you prefer to use exercise machines as part of your workout, this is not the place for you. Westwood is not known for its good customer service, but I really don't mind as long as they keep the gym in good working order. Queing for working machines is not conducive to a good timely workout.
Negative experience: Disappointing Experience at the Pool Facility. I recently visited the pool facility and unfortunately, my experience was far from enjoyable. First and foremost, the water was freezing cold, which made it quite uncomfortable to swim. I was hoping for a refreshing dip, but instead, I could barely manage to stay in for more than a few minutes. Additionally, I've noticed that the swimsuit dryer has been damaged for about a month now. It’s frustrating to see that this issue has not yet been addressed, as it severely limits the convenience of changing after a swim. It would be great to see some maintenance in this area, as it is essential for anyone using the pool. Lastly, I found that only a few hairdryers were in working condition and very old and cheap, which was disappointing. Given that many patrons rely on these amenities, it would be beneficial for the facility to ensure that all necessary equipment is functional and available. Almost all Changing room doors are damaged. Another consideration is the security aspect. While the lockers themselves felt sturdy, having just a loose key made me a bit anxious about losing it. And almost all keys are without keyring or damaged keyring. Overall, I hope the management takes these concerns seriously and makes the necessary improvements. A comfortable swimming environment and properly functioning facilities are vital for a positive experience.
Negative experience: they have this desk for nothing… If you get hurt and need any help forget about it they will never be there.
Positive experience: It's good enough but not spectacular. Worth to recommend only if joining fee reduced to a one monthly payment
Negative experience: Westwood website show 4 days free trial but they give you only one day. Water in swimming pool is smelly brown color, seems never change. Join fee 599 e but so dirty place.very disappointed.
Negative experience: I am deeply disappointed by the unacceptable treatment my family received. While I was away on a business trip, my wife and young children were inexplicably denied access to the club despite holding valid junior memberships. The staff member called Rachel at the reception was not only unhelpful but also incredibly rude and dismissive, offering no solutions to rectify the situation. This lack of consideration is particularly egregious given the substantial fees we pay for our memberships. I strongly advise others to consider the implications of such poor customer service before joining this establishment.
Fantastic experience: It has rooms of all kinds. The treatment has been impeccable by all the staff. Comfortable, very complete. It is a pleasure to use your facilities, I will repeat it I assure you. They gave me a free multi-day membership to try out. They have a very wide schedule and it is very well connected.
Negative experience: Avoid Fitzone Party's in Clontarf..The worst "party" experience ever. The party host is a non entity who has no interaction with the children. Parents are not allowed stay at the party play area but are ushered off to the O'Briens coffee area so have no involvement or participation in the celebration. If your child had any additional needs or food allergies then good luck! The children are left unsupervised in the play area. My child was in the toilet in the play area with two unknown men standing close by, one was a parent but I am just summonizing. They only want perfect kids! There was no gluten free options despite advertising gluten free nuggets on all their YouTube advertising. So no gluten free food for a child with additional needs who went into meltdown mode and I left with a "party bag" a brown paper bag with a bag of popcorn, a few haribo jellies and a lollipop in this huge brown paper bag. Avoid Avoid Avoud
Negative experience: Westwood Gym Fiasco My friend used wife's pass, got kicked out, called staff a "prick." Result? Membership canceled. Moral: Don't mix passes at Westwood Gym. It's a social minefield. And if you thought politics was dramatic, try navigating gym etiquette. It's like reality TV, but with more sweat and terrible customer service. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: Some of the trainers in Westwood are so good they're worth more than the monthly fee. Fred, Tine, Callum, Emma, James, Ian, here's lookin at you, bunch of legends.
Negative experience: None of the staff wear protective covers on their shoes whilst walking around the swimming pool . The side of the pool is wet and dirt and other matters that you would not want to swallow can seep into the pool . I have made this complaint to staff before and even today this issue has not been addressed at all.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, top rated spa area. Pool is tops as well and staff all seem great. Can get very busy at peak times. They need to clamp down on the insta clowns with their ring lights recording themselves.
Thank you Alan. Appreciate the review.
Fantastic experience: simply an incredible institution! you can live here :) Swimming pool, several types of sauna, spa, climbing wall, gym, cafe - just everything you need for adults and children.
Fantastic experience: Hard to find fault with this gym. It's huge. Its excellent. It's expensive BUT if you use it regularly it's amazingly good value for what you get.
Negative experience: The climbing wall staff are very nice, love them a lot, the problem with this gym is that it's way too expensive for a 15 year old, I pay 79 a month and that doesn't even cover the entrance fee, I started a year ago when the prices allegedly changed from 35 - 79 and even my siblings who are adults pay less than me, when I went to the salesman, he said "If you don't like the prices of the membership, you can cancel it at the front desk." In an angry tone. (Love the climbing wall though. Love the Mexican Brazilian fella at the wall. Update: Climbing wall staff is by far the best staff and the most accommodating and nicest staff ever, cian taught me how to lead belay 10/10 wish I can redo the experience.
Fantastic experience: Gym with modern equipment, swimming pool, comfortable spa. In the morning and evening it can be difficult to find a space in the large parking lot - the sports complex is very popular for all ages.
Negative experience: It's funny because you can tell which are real reviews and which are friends /staff. Trust me when I say any long standing clients who are giving 1 star reviews are not lying! The place has gone to absolute dogs since covid ,when the club ultimately showed their true, greedy colours. They will scream about their sauna to anyone that they can oversell the membership to , forgetting to mention the absolute disgusting state the showers are in or that the place has memberships oversold vs how much capacity there is. The lack of hygiene enforcement from staff towards clients is comical for so highly priced membership too. And don't worry , If you have any complaints/queries to the manager, Cathal will never answer you back as he's obviously way above his title to even deal with ordinary people using their services. If you want a high end club , there are plenty in town that you'll actually get "luxury" approach for. This is sadly a once a great club that is now just Sh*te in some gold foil for the fantastic price of €90 per month.
Negative experience: If you want a great gym with the worst customer service, this is your place. On my first day visiting, the people at the counter and the "salesman" were extremely rude. I will never return to this place. They should try to hire better and more polite staff.
Negative experience: Expensive, I never saw A gym asking for that much. if someone open a gym with mashines, pool and classes for cheaper prices people will stop going in here. It is a scam. Back in 2019 I paid 500€ for inscription and I high price every month. In Spain you pay 50€ for inscription and the same services even better.
Negative experience: I don't recommend it, it used to be a good gym nowadays and a dangerous gym where you can't leave your belongings in the locker because there are people who steal and the gym can't do anything according to the management. I was robbed twice in two weeks and the person who robbed broke the lock to steal my belongings and the gym doesn't do anything.
Fantastic experience: I love this place. It is the best club to train, and even to spend the whole day with the family, the playground for the children is fantastic and the pool is not to mention. Now I am in another country, and I only dream of the possibility that a "West Wood club" existed here. I really miss it. The trainers are wonderful, and every day I was greeted with a smile and excellent attention.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities. The front desk never answer the phone, but everything from the gym floor to the spa area is great. I pay the off peak rates and that suits
Negative experience: Ive joined the Gym on 20 may and got charged a full month payment for only 10 days …. Ive mention this to the front desk all they Said “ you have to pay” …. Overall a big scam … if you join in the last day of the month you will probably have to pay a full month payment wich is unbelievable overall there are Better choices out there and much cheaper
Negative experience: Id say you can safely ignore the 5 star reviews these people must be going to a different gym... Honestly have no idea how theyre still in business. It seems like all you are paying for is the name. 89 euro is like paying first class prices, but you have to sit in economy. God forbid you wanted to bring a friend to go try out the climbing or tennis or anything, not even a day pass available. Tennis on your own sounds like great fun. The entire spa debacle is completely bizarre. If I had started out building it alone with nothing but a hammer and twine, I'd say I could have done it in half the time. Is it 3 years now? The parking makes no sense whatsoever. I know there is an overflow, so why didn't you build it with the overflow in mind? Instead of taking up half of Fairview with people queuing? The owners are stuck in the past and just want to rinse as many people as possible before they surely go out of business.
Negative experience: If they ever pick up the phone i will crack open a bottle of Champagne for the entire city! If there had to be an award for worst customer service it should be given to them! I have been trying to get my membership issue resolved since i joined 5 months back! I have filled the same form atleast 15 time
Negative experience: It is getting extremely busy, after 6 pm, you cannot even find a locker in the lock room. I don’t know what they are trying to do by signing so many new members, but experience start losing its value despite it being amazing gym. You have to wait quite long time for many bodybuilding machines, or even seats.. Also, I have to point out that, mens lock room is very very dirty.
Negative experience: Avoid at all costs! Swimming lessons are a scam. Your child will never progress because the swim instructors never assess them (last assessment February 23). They don’t provide transparency about the lessons. You can only see in their webpage number of lessons left. If you look your lessons left on a week and then you check them next week they will have discounted 2 or 3 lessons, when your child only attended 1 time. If you ask, nobody knows anything and nobody is accountable. They don’t care about the customers only about the money
Negative experience: I’d give 0 if I had my way. Remember your nothing to these guys, save your hard earned money and go to a gym that will value you as a customer instead of an instant cash option. There’s no value for money here even with there 2yr renovations.
Negative experience: PLEASE BOYCOTT SHOCKING TREATMENT & ROBBERY as it seems you have been too busy to respond to my previous attempts at communication. Allow me to refresh your memory about the ongoing saga of my terminated membership and missing refund. In a shocking turn of events, I was informed out of the blue that my membership had been terminated. The so-called operation manager, Dillon, was kind enough to deliver this news to me over the phone, but conveniently claimed he couldn't provide any details. How mysterious! I was then graced with a letter confirming my termination, but alas, it offered no explanation for this sudden change of heart. It's now the end of March, and I'm still waiting for the refund that was promised to me back in January. I've sent numerous emails inquiring about the status of my reimbursement, but it seems your team is too preoccupied with more important matters to bother responding to a mere customer. How silly of me to expect a basic level of customer service! In my quest for answers, I attempted to reach out to Karen Polley, who I believe holds a position of authority within your organization. Shockingly, my attempts to contact her were met with the same deafening silence that seems to be a trademark of Westwood Gym's communication strategy. Dillon was quick to dismiss my concerns by claiming that Karen was too busy to respond to emails. How convenient! Despite my best efforts to resolve this matter amicably, Dillon remains adamant that he will not refund my joining fee. It appears that the concept of fairness and transparency is as foreign to Westwood Gym as a customer-centric approach. I must say, your dedication to alienating loyal customers is truly commendable. Let me clarify one thing - I have never once violated any of your precious policies or terms and conditions. Yet, I find myself on the receiving end of your arbitrary and unjust treatment. It seems that at Westwood Gym, loyalty and adherence to the rules count for nothing. In conclusion, I must applaud your team for their exceptional talent in the art of thievery. Your ability to snatch away my hard-earned money without a valid explanation is truly remarkable. Rest assured, I will be spreading the word far and wide about the abysmal service and facilities at Westwood Gym. A boycott seems like the only fitting response to such shocking behavior.
Negative experience: I’ve been a member for over a decade and to say the place just keeps getting worse and worse is an under statement. The gym is packed at literally all hours of the day, you can’t miss it. If you fancy wasting your time making your way to the gym just to see that all the machines are either taken or have queues behind them then this is the place for you. They just keep signing up new people and there just isn’t enough space for them. They should definitely consider putting up signs on least busy times so it’s adjustable. They’ve invested so much time and money into the renovated spa area and reception which was just a waste. Reception looks like an ordinary shop on the motorway or a Subway not a luxury area at all. The spa is also always busy, hard to find a spot for yourself. The noise makes it Unbearable, not comforting or relaxing at all!!!! Don’t even get me started on customer service ! Never answer phones, never answer emails. There’s absolutely no contact other than the students on the reception desk who are either clueless or call the manger for ye, who is even more CLUELESS !! Extremely disappointed with the services provided in this establishment, personally I think that loyal members opinions such as myself should be considered and acknowledged.
Positive experience: The facilities are decent, will a good floor area for the gym. However the membership fee is a wee bit steep.
Fantastic experience: A lot of gym equipment, even in peak times. Great group fitness and spin classes. They are constantly improving and adding new equipment. Also fantastic sauna/spa/cold plunge area. Price is €89 per month for an adult. Slightly cheaper for students/those wanting to go on off peak times. Well worth it for all of the facilities though.
Negative experience: Amazed how this place can turn a positive revenue the way the facilities and management is handled. No one is replying to emails. No one is answering phones. Useless management, no prices anywhere. Web page is utter garbage and use social engineering to lure you in. I can only imagine their plans and scamming schemes. I feel like you dont take your business seriously. One potential member just lost. Brilliant for someone who can afford not to care. Coclusively this indicates poor financial staff, poor service staff, poor management, poor leadership, poor visions, poor IT knowledge(also staff), poor planning. The only thing thats good is their jurisprudence as to how they can scam as many people as possible and spend as little as possible. Very short sighted vision, the company will fail next couple years going like this.
Positive experience: If you are a Thief, Westwood Male Locker Rooms should be your paradise (can't speak for the ladies ) Most people don't bother locking their stuff which is really annoying if you are looking for a space. The facility itself is versatile which I like and overall quite good for an all-in-one gym. I really like the spinning classes and the 50m pool. Also they re-opened the reception area with a food counter behind. Now you could really move in! 4/5 stars because the locker rooms are always filthy (Sorry I'm used to other gym standards from where I'm from) and basically no spa rules.
Negative experience: Facilities are good. The spa area is good and the new reception is an improvement. I never receive a response from management. Never. The traffic chaos the club creates is nothing short of a disgrace. The constant blocking of cycle lanes by motorists entering and exiting the club is a major nusiance and a hazard. The club does nothing address this or speak to the irony of the countless members who drive to the club before engaging in exercise.
Positive experience: Staff is nice, however it took ages to open the new spa and they were still charging a full membership price, while not all services were accessible (and also a ridiculously high subscription fee). It’s a nice and big gym with many machines. The main floor is clean and has enough equipment. Many machines are left “Out of service” and not taken care of for a long period of time (eg. treadmills and stair masters). I used the “Ladies only” gym floor for a year, which is great to have as a beginner. Sadly, it was never really clean. The floor was always dusty and full of hair… The equipment was often left on the ground around the room until the next morning, and the A/C and music was not always working.
Negative experience: Very unpleasant experience just this moment. I naively went in to get some straight answers about membership fees, but I had to wait for a salesman, then suffer his sales pitch smile and the fake interest in me while he attempted to take me on a lengthy tour to see an overcrowded pool with green water color. When I asked him to cut to the chase I was treated with ice cold attitude and the membership fees. wow. Quite impressive registration and membership fees taken that members are visibly dissatisfied with their services as I learned here in the comments. I was left outside of his office to my own devices to find my way out in this maze of a building only to see he was already walking in his next victims for a tour de ripoff wearing his shiny sales pitch smile. I know your job sucks, but stop treating people like this way.
Negative experience: Westwood Gym Management, I would like to express my dissatisfaction regarding the current conditions at the gym. It is concerning that broken equipment takes months to be repaired, and some devices pose a safety risk due to inadequate maintenance. Another point of concern is the shortage of high-demand equipment, affecting the overall experience for the students. I hope that measures will be taken to improve these situations, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for all gym-goers.
Positive experience: Animals in the new spa area jumping into pools straight from sauna with no showers. Disgusting. Jacuzzi is just a sweat pool now at this stage. They need signs up to stop this and proper supervision . Have no interest in using it now after what I saw. Will cancel membership
Negative experience: High price. Carpark is a nightmare no enough spaces literally need to queue on the road on off peak times due to the limit in westwood Second the dressing rooms are poor. Liquid soap limited. Whoever built the door in Westwood Clontarf men's dressing room should be reprimanded. Dryers not working many of them. Dressing room feels full even wi h a few persons in it. Machines are decent but not two of everything never mind 3. Gym is verbally busy For the price of 90 a month ( which was not reduced while spa was being constructed it is pricey in Westwood which was disappointing
Fantastic experience: I’m absolutely amazed with the facilities! I knew that I’m going to join the gym but decided to wait till the spa area was opened! It exceeded any expectation. Very luxurious and the variety of facilities you could spoil yourself with is incredible. Very well done!!
Negative experience: Small edit to previous review. Westwood (Clontarf) helpfully went to the trouble of creating a specific Christmas timetable - still live on the site at time of writing (Dec 27th). Taking it at face value, I assumed being open 8am - 9pm meant that I could use the gym until 9pm or just before. Not the case, whole gym floor was cleared at 8.30pm. Fine if you want to replicate the feeling of being kicked out of a pub for overstaying your welcome, but a bit annoying to be booted out at 8.30pm when the timetable for that specific date (December 27th) says 9pm on Westwood's own site. So ignore the timetable and subtract 30/45 minutes from the advertised closing time if planning your workout is my lesson learned. Large selection of weights and equipment, in varying condition. Decent number of squat racks, rarely a long wait even at busy times. On the downside, perhaps a victim of its' size but factor in at least 10 minutes per one hour work out for roaming the floor looking for weight plates, especially smaller plates which are well hidden and hard to find. More centrally placed communal weights storage would be useful. Additionally much smaller and cheaper gyms I've been a member of have managed to have one anti bacterial spray per machine station, stations are never sprayed down here at least partly because it's hard to find. There is a separate teen gym section in the main gym. It's usually completely empty, and the teens can be found chatting in groups on their phones around a machine in the main gym especially on weekends. It's harmless, but annoying, particularly as the ratio of chat to exercise is about 10:1, the weights stations look like the aftermath of a tornado after with weight plates strewn all over. To be fair, that trait isn't unique to the teen gym goers. If the age gated rules aren't going to be enforced suggest repurposing the teen gym for members who want to exercise rather than chat. The Les Mills studios particularly the cycling studio is very good, with choices of virtual as well as live classes. Been a member for 14 months awaiting the spa like others so can't comment on what that's like. Overall, plenty of equipment, well located, and good Les mills studio on the upside,. Some more proactive enforcement of the gyms own rules, organisation of the equipment, and a more bottles of spray would be quick fixes.
