Negative experience: Very poor service

Fantastic experience: I really love the classes, great variety and time options. Siobhan and Tina are absolutely brilliant instructors. Nice warm pool, great hot tub.

Fantastic experience: Really nice gym in Knocknacarra ...multiple locations is a big advantage but to be honest I have not been to any other locations. Outdoors jacuzzi offers an individual experience for that cold and warm post work out cool down session. Sauna steam room and a decent swimming pool length and a great separate children section makes this a stand out gym in the area. Been very pleased overall and the staff are friendly and helpful. Could not recommend it more. The first time offer can reduce the joining fee on the day you view or enquire in person so have a good idea when you come to see this place.

Fantastic experience: Staff are brilliant, highly skilled, patient and very accommodating. I need someone to make me do the work so I mostly just attend classes. It is so handy for me that I can attend Knocknacara on days that I'm not working and go to lunch time classes in Bohermore on my work days. Sometimes I just go for a shower after a swim in the sea. I think that I get great value for money.

Negative experience: I have a 2 complaint for this branch of the NRG gym. 1st when you pay the rates they are asking everything should be functioning. Well most of the time the steam room isn't working. Second of all I go by a schedule and I come in at 06 in the morning when they open, actually this being the 1st reason I enrolled. Today the 29.07.2024 i left the gym at 06:30 because it wasn't open. Being on a tight schedule and have to leave for work for 8 did not have time to do my morning routine and that has caused me a lot of stress and wasted my time showing that the respect for the customers in this case is less then 0. Thank you NRG. Great start of the week.

Positive experience: It would be a higher rating as overall the experience is a good one. But the women's showers run so cold that I can't even go during the winter months. I have to shift over to bohermore nov- march, which is not as handy and results in me going less. You're literally coming out of the shower, finished, as it's getting tepid. I watched as a woman timed it once and it was 7 minutes and still running cold. I did complain a couple of times a few years ago but nothing happened.

Fantastic experience: Nrg is a really good gym and they have a range of services available. There is a lovely leisure centre. The staff are very helpful and welcoming. Overall great gym

Positive experience: I was a temporary member a couple years ago and I really liked it. But can't afford regular membership. I'm told their pricing is €55 a month and a €190 sign up fee for new members. Or they have a €250 three month option.

Negative experience: The most ridiculous leisure centre in the country! I was pricing around for a gym in my local area. I rang NRG for a quote only to be informed by Jason that their company policy does not allow him to give me a quote for membership on the phone or on their website. To be given access to this 'highly sensitive information', I would have to come in for an accompanied tour of the leisure centre. Absolutely ridiculous carry on! Not at all a good first impression, I won't be joining NRG any time soon!

Fantastic experience: Great gym for my needs. Super free weight area and plenty of cardio equipment.

Negative experience: Would reccomend another gym! Pluses. Good classes Staff are great They have an old sled Outdoor jacuzzi Negatives Place is filthy! showers are manky Sauna very steamy. Not open in the morning when they should be Steam room hasn't worked properly in well over a year Pool very dirty People go straight from sauna into pool. Recent upgrades were all about style over substance. No slant boards, wedges, tib bar or nordic ect, Good thing is membership comes with bohermore whose leisure facilities and changing rooms are much cleaner

Negative experience: Pros Classes are good. Staff are helpful Cons Showers and changing rooms are dirty Slipery steps down from women's changing room to pool(especially dangerous if you have a small child with you) Sauna stinks. Smells awful and always far too humid with a broken thermometer and hygrometer Steam room hasn't worked in over 2 years

Negative experience: Was in there yesterday. Used to be a member for years. I remember it being a decent spot. Pool area needs to be cleaned properly. Rust and corrosion on the drinking water fountain. As other have noted the tiles & steam room in particular need a serious deep clean.

Positive experience: Great place but management getting stingy. No more passes for friends, no more extra month and very cold changing room in Bohemore NRG.

Negative experience: Ich bin ein Kind und als Kind ist man total eingeschränkt.Man darf fast gar Nichts als Kind.Man darf nur in einen Bereich sein und nicht mal die Schwimmbahnen benutzen. Total mies.

Negative experience: The only experience l had was ringing to find out how much it would cost to join for six Months. Was told 355 euro. Nothing about a signing on fee. Then my son called in and was told there was a signing on fee of 200. After that l called in and was told it was 330 for six months and if you joined on a certain day it would ONLY cost 90 euro. You guys should get your prices straight because it feels like you are just saying anything. Also l didn’t feel the staff were in anyway friendly or helpful. We will go somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: Really great facilities and classes. Also cater for people who work late/early. It has everything you need. Added benefits of a pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzis

Positive experience: No enforcement or staff watching of time frames for sauna, hot tub and jacuzzi (15 mins per person) ; meaning you can't get in because some people hog it and Nrg allows this. The pool is often too busy to get space with 3 lanes being cordoned off for swimming lessons, very little room is left for adult members. If getting a membership for Pool etc only, it's not worth the money. Pool areas, steam room and showers also need deep cleaning; tiles are filthy and pool, hot tub and jacuzzi drains are yellow stained. Sadly the standard has dropped. The gym is much better kept and staff are really friendly and helpful but the above issues are unfortunately very off putting.

Fantastic experience: Great club, friendly staff, lots of gym equipment to suit all abilities, great range of classes taught by really great instructors, including online options. Plus pool and sauna facilities.

Positive experience: Great friendly staff, cardio and machine equipment upstairs is decent. The downstairs weights area could be the best in Galway if they updated/replaced some of the current equipment. I have been a member here for many years and enjoy my time here but it frustrates me that any suggestions membere make to improve are ignored. Update 2021 Equipment is showing its age, not enough plates and alot are damaged. Membership has gone up 45% with but the owner hasn't invested anything back into the gym to justify this, if anything the weights in the downstairs area has gotten worse and damaged. If you enjoy instructors classes and the use of a pool/sauna etc this is very good gym. If its mostly cardio and some weights you'd use, I'd suggest going elsewhere, new gym opening close by will have brand new equipment.

Negative experience: A very expensive membership for the value you receive. They were not understanding about the pandemic situation and how rapidly changing it was. I purchased a 3 month membership which was paused while the regulations stipulated that they had to be closed but then it was restarted whether it suited the customers or not. I lost two out of the three months use despite the fact that I came in in person to the gym and requested it to be paused indefinitely. When I called to straighten out the situation I was told they had already done everything they possibly could but I could not get those months back nor any sort of compensation.

Fantastic experience: Cardio, weight training, courses, swimming. This is the right place for all your wellness and fitness needs! You and your family always feel welcome and taken care off.

It really is the complete package - fantastic range of classes, very flexible class timetable and great encouragement from all the trainers. I'd highly recommend to anyone who's looking for a fitness fix.

Positive experience: delighted to be back to nrg and was loving gemmas pilates classes on Tuesday Thursday and Sunday morning she is absolutely brilliant and as I recently had hio surgery these classes were the right pace and felt stronger and fitter thsn ihad I ages but today I found out she's not going to be taking classes at nrg anymore im so disappointed

Fantastic experience: What a facility! Great gym with the usual equipment but it's hard to beat the garage. The staff are so helpful and the free classes brilliant. John is top class. Changing facilities are always clean.

Negative experience: Joined not too long ago, not impressed with how they decided to close for many hours without so much as a word to customers bar a note posted on the door. I walked 40 minutes to get to the gym only to be told they'd be closed in 20 minutes. Didn't even have time for a shower before work. Very disappointed, a simple email would have been sufficient, to me indicates a lack of care for the customer.

Negative experience: I wasn't impressed. I had booked swimming lessons for my daughter who has some mild special needs. I explained our need before booking classes and was reassured our needs could be caterers for, so I paid for the classes in advance by direct debit. However when when the time came for the classes, in fact they couldn't cater for any of our needs. My daughter was left sitting on the side of the baby pool with her legs dangling in over the side as she was too big for it. She was aged 10 and quite tall. I went to express my disappointment a d I was told I couldn't lodge a complaint or get my money back there and then. It took another 3 phonecalls before anyone returned my call. Told I would be credited my money back, I physically had to return to the hotel 3 months later to be given a cheque that took 5 working days to clear. Not even an an apology. If I cod give minus stars I would

Positive experience: Fitness equipment itself is great. Pool needs updating a little. Lose a star as the baby changing facilities are not there. You would have to leave the gym to use the hotel changing rooms which when wet with a wet child is not reasonable. Loving the out door hot tub though.

Fantastic experience: The best equipped hotel gym I've ever come across by a long way, and very reasonably priced to boot. 20m pool with sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Yoga/aerobics studio. All the usual cardio equipment (Treadmills, elictipal trainers, towing machines...). Really great weights room- the usual machines (leg press, cable cross, pull down) but proper free weights as well: dumbbell rack (up to 50kg bells), numerous squat racks and deadlift platforms, proper o-bars and bumper plates. And the cherry on top is a great new garage/crossfit style training area with truck tires, prowler sleds, sledge hammers, battle ropes, punching bags, kettle bells etc. Numerous classes included in membership also: pilates, yoga, crossfit, boxercise, aquarobics etc although I haven't tried these myself.

Negative experience: I wanted to join with my son but was told he wouldn't be able to use the pool changing room with me as he is over 7 years old. He has autism and would require my help. We were told we could change at the side of the pool instead which I am not ok with. No accommodations made for people with special needs.

Positive experience: Great place with several area such as outside hot-tube, inside sauna and pool, baby pool as well! Upstairs you can find thread mills and exercise bikes, several fitness machines and free area to do fitness activities. At the basement there are several divided areas. One for spinning classes and another one for daily classes such as cattle bell or Pilates exercises. A smaller room for yoga and ballet classes. There is a free weight area and few exercise machines in the next room, this room opened together with the "Garage", a free exercise area and group training place, almost every evening cross fit classes here.
