Our comment from FitFit Ireland about West Wood Club:
West Wood Club, located in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland, offers a vast range of facilities and services for fitness enthusiasts, making it one of the notable gyms in the area. Appreciated by many, the club boasts a spacious gym environment, a well-equipped sports area, and various classes led by enthusiastic instructors.
Highlights of West Wood Club:
- Large, well-maintained gym with diverse equipment options.
- A variety of classes and personal training sessions available.
- Clean and modern changing rooms.
- Friendly and professional staff who are eager to assist members.
- Exclusive spa facilities including a sauna, jacuzzi, and plunge pool.
- Convenient location near public transport.
However, some users have expressed concerns regarding certain aspects of the club:
- Instances of overcrowding during peak hours, leading to a less enjoyable experience.
- Poor customer service and communication, particularly regarding membership queries and facility updates.
- Inconsistent cleanliness in certain areas, including changing rooms and showers.
- Ongoing equipment maintenance issues and facility closures without adequate notice.
Overall, while West Wood Club offers excellent amenities and a dedicated team, there are areas for improvement that management should address to enhance the member experience. Its potential remains high, and continued efforts in service quality and facility maintenance could restore it to its former glory.

West Wood Club: Opinions
Negative experience: The pool heating is shut for over a month and occasionally the jacuzzi is out of order too. Not worth the price- 110 per month for short term 3 months
Negative experience: Too many yup bros
Negative experience: I've been a member of Westwood for over four years, and unfortunately, the quality of service has only declined—despite a recent price increase. A few months ago, I wrote a critical review about the way this gym operates and how it took management just under two years to reply to an email from me, in fact they likely only did because I left a Google review. The manager called me to discuss the gym’s challenges and applogised, so I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt by removing my review. In hindsight, I shouldn’t have, because things have only gotten worse. The Leopardstown pool has now been closed for over a week due to heating issues, with no reopening expected for another two weeks. The pool in Clontarf, which had already been closed for weeks, remains out of service as well—I drove out this evening, only to find out from staff that it won’t be open until at least next week. This means that between both locations, there is currently no working pool. All of this follows the Leopardstown pool’s closure last summer for months-long refurbishment. Yet, despite these ongoing disruptions, Westwood continues to charge members €100 per month. Worse still, customer service is non-existent—emails go unanswered, and the gym clearly does not care about its members. The core issue is that Westwood has no real competition, so it operates however it pleases. Membership numbers have skyrocketed, making the gym floors and changing rooms overcrowded. Yet, instead of improvements, the service continues to deteriorate. I remain a member only because I need access to gym and pool facilities combined for my training, but I cannot recommend Westwood. The service is appalling, the facilities are unreliable, and customer care is completely absent. If you’re considering joining, save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere. Edit: 9 days later, Leopardstown pool is still out of action and still no reply to emails. Clontarf gym doesn't answer their phone after 6 attempts and their mailbox is full. Bonkers.
Negative experience: This gym was genuinely a great gym 10 years ago when I joined but it has gone to the dogs in the last 3 years and here’s why. The gym is packed at all times with literal groups of boys aged about 15 hugging each machine for about an hour. The showers are tiny and do NOT supply shower gel in each shower like before. The carpark is like something out of an amusement park. The ramps have crippled my suspension, parents let kids run everywhere so it’s like a playground. It’s a one way system… so if there’s no spaces near the gym(there never is) I have to do another lap of the carpark. But the one thing I hate most about Westwood is that there is always always always something broken or there’s an event on. Something broken meaning the entire jacuzzi is out of action for months, an entire cardio section or my favorite the indoor dome has blown away. If there is an event on, as it’s coming into summer that will be every single Thursday. Members will be relocated to a carpark that is 5 km from the gym. With the only transportation being a bus that comes when it wants. Please Westwood. You make an absolute fortune. Please make this gym a place I loved to go too and bring back the good times.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym. It’s huge. Posing room should be made with all that space though♂️♂️♂️
Positive experience: Loved the gym, great gym to start at and I was a very consistent user of my membership for over 3 years but left due to lack of new equipment, swimming pool area isnt really clean and its quite pricey. But I still stand by its a great gym and if youre close its very handy.
Fantastic experience: Best gym in Dublin IMHO. Especially driving up from Wicklow
Negative experience: Well, last month I wrote to the management and no reply, so here is my honest review. I’m really disappointed with West Wood Club’s latest price increase. While I appreciate the effort to upgrade facilities, an 11% jump feels excessive, and they only gave us 6 weeks notice—especially when not all members benefit from every improvement. Many of us have stayed loyal despite previous price hikes, but this latest increase, justified by rising operational costs and wages, just feels like the burden is being unfairly shifted onto members. What’s even more frustrating is that long-term members aren’t being offered any loyalty incentives or a gradual adjustment to ease the impact. Simply passing on higher costs to customers without offering alternatives doesn’t seem fair or customer-focused. The only reason I’m still here is because of the incredible instructors. They are the most lovely and helpful team, and despite running thousands of classes a day, they always have a smile on their faces. I truly hope they are being well compensated, especially given how much the club is charging its members. Would love to see more appreciation for loyal members and the hardworking staff who make this place worth attending.
Negative experience: Too many people and shower not clean
Negative experience: The gym has a very high joining fee. I paid about 650 Euro. The selling point was space and exclusivity. I am aware of many members who have not paid this fee and the gym is now significantly busier. I raised this via email, with a follow up, and have not heard back in over a year! If you plan on joining, just know that with a bit of pushback, you will not have to pay the joining fee. Facility is good though.
Which Clun do you use?
Positive experience: Gym is just ok and could do with an update and better layout, car parking is ok, changing rooms and showers are excellent and top notch. The receptionists here are some of the nicest most pleasant and helpful receptionists I've ever encountered.
Fantastic experience: Really good gym with great facilities and classes
Fantastic experience: Maybe I’m the only one like that, but I do love your information emails and sms about updates so useful! If you include in them dates of Les Mills launches, they will absolutely perfect! In general I’m really happy with the gym!
Positive experience: I have been a member for more than a year now, and from my experience the quality of service provided has improved considerably since I joined. The facilities are clean and very nice and comfortable. Spa and swimming pool are good. The only problem is that sometimes young kids jump in the big swimming pool just to play or not properly following the clockwise swimming rule, making it impossible to do a proper swimming workout. Swimming classes are ok, maybe too short. Spa is crowded sometimes but overall it is ok. I do just two classes at the gym, which is pilates on Saturday morning- class is a bit crowded but it is very good- and body pump on a Tuesday which is great too.The lady running the pilates class ( sorry I don't remember her name) is amazing. Very happy with both of the instructors. I am currently on the 6 assessment program and I have to say some of the trainers are good at giving you advice etc . Lady gym is under renovation, looking forward to seeing it with new equipment. Overall I am happy to be a member and I hope the quality of the gym could improve further in the future.
Fantastic experience: Very nice
Negative experience: I am already a customer and called twice now to see if I can add my college kids. No one has called back yet. I know it January so gym sales people are flat out, but being an existing customer would expect better treatment
Fantastic experience: West Wood is an amazing club. I love coming here to hit the gym and play sports. They have a swimming pool, a sauna & ice plunge pool, a squash arena, and a climate-controlled tennis ground as well. Their gym is one of the largest I’ve ever seen here in Ireland (multi-storey) and the staff is incredibly nice and friendly. There’s even a sandwich and juice shop right next to the reception along with a sports equipment store. Can’t recommend West Wood highly enough!
Fantastic experience: I just renewed my membership last week staff are very helpful and gym as clean as it was last year also some really nice updates to gym equipment.
Negative experience: Was a member here for about 6 months. Sauna, steam room & plunge pool regularly out of order. Gym area has buckets everywhere to catch leaking water. Weights are never where they should be & cable machines regularly broken & taped off. Staff or “trainers” have zero customer service skills. This used to be a premium gym but it’s now run down & not worth the ridiculous price they charge for membership.
Negative experience: Fairly shabby looking. Coffee shop is always a mess. Extremely busy gym.
Positive experience: Decent gym. The facilities outside of the city center are much better.
Fantastic experience: Love Jordan’s class always feel great after her class. Great instructor️♂️
Fantastic experience: Jordan best trainer for pump, love her energy!
Fantastic experience: Absolutely LOVE Jordan’s pump class. Look forward to them every week
Fantastic experience: Brillinat classes in west wood have no complaints what do ever the energy levels the trainer bring are 10/10 the vibes are so good
Fantastic experience: A high end Gym + Pool + Sports + Zumba club! Wide variety of machines and good amount of space. Personal trainer for group. Good coordinators! Expensive! Present in multiple locations across Dublin!
Fantastic experience: The West Wood classes at Leopardstown are amazing!
Negative experience: They have serious communication issues. They asked me to pay for the kids plan after I verbally canceled it because they were restricted in a 4 by 4 m area of the adults pool... “You need to fill out a form for that, after you pay for the last few months.¨ So why would I pay for a service that I did not use? And why did't the nice lady ask me to fill the form two months ago? They are very polite when you come in as a new customer but after you sign, they are just some money grabbers. Avoid.
Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member of this gym for a while now, and I have to say, it’s one of the best I’ve been to! The facilities are top-notch, spacious, well-maintained, and fully equipped for everything from weight training to cardio. There’s also a sauna that’s perfect for unwinding after a tough workout, which I absolutely love. One of my favorite aspects of the gym is the yoga and meditation classes. Aoife, the instructor, is fantastic. Her classes are calming, yet challenging, and she has a way of making everyone feel comfortable, no matter their skill level. Whether you're looking to improve flexibility, relieve stress, or just find some peace of mind, Aoife’s classes are a must. Overall, this gym offers a well-rounded experience with something for everyone. Highly recommend it!
Positive experience: Great staff, great amenities, maintenance can be an issue.
Hi Brian,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a great review with awesome feedback! If you have any suggestion on how we could improve your rating please do not hesitate to let me know!
Kind Regards,
Laura (Operations Manager)
Positive experience: Facilities are excellent, equipment choice is plentiful and varied. Always busy and is quite expensive. The option to drop the kid is the supervised area while you workout is brilliant.
Negative experience: CONS: Poor cleanness. Steam room stinks and regularly out of order. Music volume is too loud which doesn't let you enjoy your own on your headphones. Poor customer service. Membership fee is unacceptably high. Lack of weights and dumbbells. No parking access during horse riding events which happens regularly PROS: Inclusive access to all facilities and branches.
Negative experience: I don't like the forced membership consultation, they should just allow paying online to save time, the location looks large but the gym layout seems very cramped and doesn't flow well, it they redesigned it could be a great gym, but the space isn't being but to good use. they need a new chest press as the force curve and ROM is not good on the existing one's
Negative experience: Very unstable and inconsiderate experience by the sale and the reception team. The facility is good can't complain about it. Swimming and pool is overtaken by lessons with no consideration to other members.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym. And for what it offers. Which is more or less everything you could want. The price is phenomenal. 10/10,
Negative experience: Very outdated and rusted gym machines, cables and benches are always in very bad shape. Tennis courts are shocking, they not even flat. Cardio area and showers are great tho
Fantastic experience: Best gym in Dublin! I'm very, very happy about all the options for my workout in a very professional high standard!
Fantastic experience: This Gym have the best gym equipment so far and their pool, jacuzzi and sauna is top notch
Negative experience: Horrible location. Can’t get to the place easily from the Luas or by foot or bike. Car traffic a disaster. Crowded. Sitting around for longer than half an hour already just to see a consultant. Haven’t even seen the gym floor and wanting to leave and not come back. Considering how expensive it is to join here it’s a joke. And I worked in the fitness industry so not just venting for no reason. Inefficient.
Negative experience: I have subscribed my kids to the club because of the kids club and the pool It turned out that the kids club closed last spring with the promise of reopening next week…every week since a year. And the pool is taken by non member kids swimming classes till 6pm every day
Negative experience: I went there to get information about swimming lessons for my girlfriend's son, no one knew how to tell me anything, then after a long time an employee took my number and said he would call me To give me the information, I'm waiting two weeks.
Fantastic experience: Overall this gym is amazing. With all the facilities and everything.
Fantastic experience: Very nice gym with full equipment, teniscords, swimming pool and SPA area, plenty of park spaces and nice staff
Fantastic experience: Love West Wood. Especially love that there are squash courts available! Booking system is well managed. The ladies only gym area at Leopardstown is very handy. I’m very self conscious so it’s great to have a place where I can work out that’s a bit separate from the rest of the gym.
Positive experience: Good gym but the loud music really annoys me. Everybody is wearing headphones so nobody is listening to it. I listen to podcasts and even with the volume at max and noise cancelling I still can't hear with the crazy volume in the background. Also there are constant recorded reminders to people to not sit at the equipment on their phones. Everyone ignores this and probably can't hear because they're all wearing headphones.
Positive experience: Still the best gym IMO, has everything and access to multiple gyms with the full membership. The standard of cleaning has dropped off a cliff though the past few years! Spa area in Leapardstown could do with a revamp
Fantastic experience: Excellent gym, incredible spa facilities and super helpful staff! Definitely worth the monthly fee in comparison to other gyms!
Fantastic experience: I have been a member for 25years or more, I do 5 classes a week, I am very satisfied, but with so many new members Les Mills get full quickly eventually a bigger room will be needed
Fantastic experience: Classes are great and the facilities are very nice, the location for the Dun Laoghaire gym is very central and just across from the dart station
Positive experience: It's a great club, but not worth the monthly price. And 650 euros joining fee? Gotta be mental.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities and outstanding spa area.
Negative experience: Consistently getting worse year after year. Just cancelled my membership, the last straw was a member actively using the steam room to loosen phlegm and spit it onto the seats. When I cancelled my membership staff said nothing, no disgust at the behaviour, no apology, no comments about cleaning it up…it’s a pile of phlegm in on your steam room seats ffs! Disgusting and joke tier staff. If I was a GM here I would be embarrassed to let people know I work here. I will never use or recommend WW again.
Fantastic experience: It is not just a gym, it has facilities like sauna, jacuzzi, swimming pool, tennis and squash. They have different locations with different highlights.
Hi Namrata, Thanks for the good feedback we appreciate it.
Kind Regards, Laura - Operations Manager.
Fantastic experience: 16 years member. Modern, clean facilities and nice pool/spa area. Plenty of treadmills. Loads of classes. Nice new changing rooms.
Positive experience: Not happy with yearly contracts, but overall gym experience is okay. A lot of machines and classes to chose from. Would recommend making the ladies gym bigger as some sit on their phones and the wait for the machines can be frustrating.
Negative experience: I was a member of West Wood, Leopardstown back about 20 years ago, and one of the reasons I left was due to the poor communication I experienced - eg. staff’s unreliability when it came to returning phone-calls, on a few occasions double-booked appointments with me (and then despite promises of contacting me re rescheduling, again not getting back in touch). Recently I considered rejoining, and tried their FREE West Wood Club 4-Day Membership - an excellent idea for would-be members to experience the facilities before committing to anything long-term. However, I’m sorry to report that West Wood, Leopardstown’s communication is no better now than it was. My contact emailed me about what I could expect upon my arrival in starting the free 4-Day Membership: he let me know the time to come and that he’d be there to greet me. When I arrived, I was informed he wasn’t in that day, despite his email. Furthermore, it seemed as if nobody was aware I was coming. The receptionist said she’d get someone for me, so I waited in the Cafe area. After 25 minutes, still nobody had come and I was about to leave, when the receptionist said again she’d try to find someone and at last I was taken around by someone else (who was quite good, by the way). I expressed my frustrations to him about the past and what had just transpired. I also emailed my friend the No-Show to let him know of my disappointing experiences. The next day, I received another email from my contact, which started off, ‘Great talking to you yesterday.’ I’m sorry - what? Maybe these emails come automatically, but I suggest not sending them out if they can’t follow through with the service. I emailed him back again, saying, ‘I didn’t talk to you yesterday, one of the points highlighted in my previous email.’ I heard nothing back. Another incident that happened during my trial: I lost my wedding ring. At reception I reported this, asking if there was a system for lost property and was told confusingly, ‘We don’t usually call anyone who doesn’t leave their name and number’. What on earth does that mean!? I left my name and number, the receptionist wrote it down on a post-it note, but I had no faith I would be called back. Two days later, I rang back and sure enough, my ring had been found, for which I am grateful. But, nobody had called me to let me know, despite them taking my details. As I had received no replies from my initial contact, I Facebooked them, and I got a reply! My points would be passed on to the general manager, and I was given his email address. So, I emailed him my points. Nothing. I emailed him again. Still nothing. So, I wrote this review! All these points highlight the poor communication between staff and customer. Sure, their equipment is good. Sure, the place is spacious. Sure their pool area is good, with a buttocks-kickin’ jacuzzi. But, calls should be returned. Emails should be answered. Appointments should be kept or, if they can’t be, staff should be notified a customer is expected and not kept waiting. Staff should have a better response than the vagueness I received re lost property and have a proper system! For an elite gym and swimming place, I would expect a lot better! In the end, I became a member in a different gym: somewhere not half as expensive and one that doesn’t make promises it can’t keep.
Negative experience: Westwoods Lepardstown Gym is absolutely shocking Place is like a maze of equipment that has seen better days, rust etc. Dusty sweat box. Leaks and buckets everywhere. Spa layout looked okay, but wasnt risking my health trying anything out, i had turned on me heels with the smell of body odour. 1 star given for been able to get a parking space close to the door.
Positive experience: It's not a bad gym but it's not a great one either. Great views of the race course, plenty of squat racks , nice spa, lovely changing rooms. The negatives are mainly being the layout which is like a maze after drinking 10 pints and The classes they do in the cardio area which are absolutely criminal, if you need 90 decibels of chronic chart music blaring out speakers that are older than me to motivate the class then Jesus save me.
Negative experience: Very poor communication within the membership team in regard to an ongoing complaint! When asked what is the update of the complaint I’m been told they can’t deal with it and it has to be another branch! No follow up! They pass the blame and act as if they are a separate company.
Negative experience: Bloody expensive and the amount of old naked men walking around and taking 20 minutes to put on pants is disgusting and sitting bare arse on the stools and benches
Negative experience: Recommend the gym only if you can go at off peak times. Management only seem to care about signing new members and at peak times the place is extremely overfull leading to an unpleasant experience. E.g. changing rooms, lockers, spa area etc
Positive experience: Hygiene is an issue people jumping straight from sauna into plunge drying off in changing rooms leaving place soaked. Plunge is not really a lunge usually up around 12 degrees. Just not worth the money. Staff are generally good to deal with but not alot of them have any power amd the ones that do are not readily available
Fantastic experience: Very nice and fully equipped place for training, fitness and swimming. A bit upmarket from the price point, but it's worth it.
Fantastic experience: Member of leopardstown club about 2 weeks now.my wife also has membership Totally enjoying it there Great training facilities wide level of classes and the steam room jacuzzi plunge pool and cold water buckets a great way to end the session Tea in o Brien's afterwards to chill.
Negative experience: Huge potential, seems like bad management. The place is absolutely filthy considering there’s so many cleaners around. Teenagers all over the place not a clue what they’re doing. Unwelcoming front desk.
Negative experience: BUYER BEWARE. €90 a month for cold showers, cold jacuzzi, foul smelling steam room, 70 degree sauna, old equipment, and buckets out catching water from a leaky ceiling. Plus they want €600 joining fee! Joke of a “luxury” gym to say the least.
Negative experience: Worst experience ever once again 1. Been a member few year paid joining membership fee and then had to leave due to injury after 2 months came back and had to pay the membership fee once again. In 5 years paid membership fee 4 times, due to the interruption but it doesn't make sense, as I was a registered member. 2. Student membership not available if you older than 25 years, no justification over that received from the staff/management. Said that it's just the way we have it. 3. One session is 50€, do I get a massage as well?? Absolutely not, it's just one time access to the facilities, overpriced 5 times. 4. Very poor cleaning on floors as well as shower and changing room. 5. Gym machines, dumbells, bars all rusty, safety hazard in my opinion. 6. And a lot of other small things that makes me avoid these premises Only good thing is that you get all facilities in one place.
Fantastic experience: This is the best gym in Dublin. The same membership gives you access to all of their locations. Loads of classes, great equipment and staff are sound. The spa is exceptional and adds so much to the experience. Highly recommend
Fantastic experience: Great facilities, would like more classes during lunch time
Negative experience: Gym and Spa area are very dirty and toilets have feces all over cubicles staff members are very rude
Fantastic experience: Facilities are all in very good condition, best gym in Dublin, has everything too.
Positive experience: The classes and PT sessions included in the yearly subscription are great. Special shoutout to PT Andre who leads the Sh’bam class and other body pump classes. He’s amazing and makes my sessions at the gym fun and challenging, five stars to him :) On the other hand, the facilities, especially women’s bathrooms and showers are rather disappointing. There’s mould, showers don’t work or stop in the middle of your shower, they look so outdated. I hope they keep their promise to renovate them sooner or later, before losing too many customers. Also, when the races are on, they advertise that there is a bus bringing you to and back between the parking and the gym: quite a lie, on multiple occasions, I have seen women with small children and buggies waiting for 40+ minutes under the rain, or sun in the middle of summer, and no bus is coming. I stopped believing that it even exists! Cleaning staff is very nice. The account managers at the gym instead only give you attention at the time of purchase and never get back to you.
Negative experience: Delighted to get out of there. While they are doing up the gym not, the equipment is old. There's leaks in the roof and it's common to see buckets on the floor in the weights area to capture the dripping water. The music in the cardio area is far too loud. You can't hear the music in your headphones. Given the area is mostly used by older people, I don't know who the loud dance music is for? The place is full of kids and feels like a creche at time. I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen young kids trying to lift heavy weights. They should be nowhere near them and will hurt themselves. For a place with so many cleaners, the place isn't particularly clean, especially the shower area which is full of empty bottles and dirty. I even saw an empty can of cider on the floor one day. It's certainly not worth €90 a month. There are much better gyms with much better equipment around at better prices.
Fantastic experience: Excellent club with a lot in the price
Negative experience: I am writing to express significant concerns regarding consistent and my recent experiences at Westwood, Leopardstown. My wife and I have repeatedly faced the following problems: 1. Poor Cleanliness: Each visit to your gym and changing room areas has been marred by dirty facilities (spiderwebs, dirt and files in the gym / unsanitized changing facilities) and not enough space for all members throughout the busy times. The persistent lack of cleanliness is not only off-putting but also raises health concerns. 2. Black Mould in Women's Showers: There is a worrying presence of what appears to be toxic black mould on the roof of the women's showers. This indicates a serious lack of thorough cleaning and poses a significant health risk. A simple but careless task which should be regularly and thoroughly completed by the staff. 3. Excessive Hair in Women's Showers: On our most recent visit, my wife encountered an unacceptable amount of hair covering the ground in the women's showers, making the experience highly distressing and simply disgusting. Unbelievable! 4. Excessive Chlorine in Steam Room: During a previous visit, the steam room had such a high level of chlorine that it caused burning in my eyes, posing a health hazard and making the experience unbearable. It was almost difficult to go home afterwards and I felt quite unwell afterwards but due to staff being unable most of the time to deal with any real complaints, I simply diverted and left. 5. Staff Professionalism and Attitude: The staff consistently demonstrate unprofessionalism, a lack of helpfulness, and a dearth of knowledge regarding classes, facility rules, and policies. Additionally, their rude behavior when addressing complaints in person has made us feel undervalued and disrespected as patrons of your establishment. These issues, collectively, have severely impacted our experience and satisfaction with the services. Given the gravity of these concerns, we are under no obligations or care to continue paying €89 per month x2 for such low quality services, one month we didn't even sign in. Just to add to it, we have recently gotten married and afterward, fell ill following our honeymoon and even with only using your facilities 2 times in 2 months, there is always nothing that can be done to try and make our memberships worthwhile. We hope that bringing these issues to the attention of people will lead to immediate improvements, not only for us but for all members of your club that constantly are undervalued by this "Health & Fitness Center. Outdated, old, dirty, unprofessional... Just some of the words that describe this location. (For the record, the other locations and staff I encountered were actually quite nice but very far from where I live so impractical)
Negative experience: Re Westwood Leopardstown So much potential but unfortunately so so poor. Recently terminated family membership after only 18 months. Facilities very tired and dated, often dirty. Evidenced by the closure of the creche, after-school and play area. O'Briens cafe is appalling. Staff a mixed bag but one particular incident involved a disgruntled & angry staff member left my small children quite shook. Was reported to Gen Mgr but was never followed up. Swimming Instructors are excellent. I wouldn't waste your money.
Positive experience: Staff are reception less than welcoming in the leopardstown centre. "Go online " I was told when I asked about joining the swimming club. Ridiculous restrictions, and you need deep pockets . For a open plenty, unfriendly atmosphere. NO THANK YOU !
Fantastic experience: Excellent setup overall. Having been a member for the last 6 months,I can say this gym offers an amazing range of equipment and the facilities are excellent also. The size of the gym itself is very big which means it copes well during busy periods. The facilities are currently being revamped in different areas with the men’s changing rooms having just been completed to an extremely high standard! Overall I think this club caters to people and families of all ages with a huge array of activities and things to do ! Highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: Love this gym. Staff very friendly and gym in very good w.
Positive experience: —edit: since upgrade of mens changing rooms, i’m upgrading to three stars. Cleaning is still at a low standard, hope that improves. — What used to be a gorgeous, clean and spacious gym has deteriorated over the past 5 years into an extremely crowded, noisy, unmaintained and quite dirty gym. It’s a shame that its lost its exclusivity altogether. Far too many members than its capacity can handle, both on the gym floor and the spa area. Crowded with teenagers and international students. I have never once seen the changing room / shower / spa floors being ‘cleaned’. They just run the same dirty mop over the floors. In other gyms / spa’s you would regularly see the floors being steamed or power washed.. never ever here. No disinfectant, you can imagine what is crawling on the floors. (i dont have to imagine after just one time i forgot my flip flops and the result a week later was very unpleasant) I’ve put off writing this review for some time as I thought it would get better, but standards keep on dropping. Staff are actually nice in my opinion, which is why I have kept 2 stars. The negatives are all related to overcapacity / cleaning / machine quality. Perhaps in time it will change and if i’m still a member I would be happy to update this review.
Negative experience: I am a club member and had cancelled my direct debit due to being away for 3 months. I came to the club to restart my membership and was told that in order to continue my membership I either have to pay those 3 months or pay a new sign-in fee. Seemingly Westwood don't understand they are in the services industry and are happier to see their members leave, than having them satisfied.
Fantastic experience: Great place, Your best place to training
Fantastic experience: Excellent facility. Have yet to use the trainers but my daughter is very happy with her trainer. The cafe is good too
Fantastic experience: 5 stars to Ed Dunne racquets manager who organised the amazing new squash courts. He also has developed a thriving squash community in WW organising regular tournaments, group training, social events and kids coaching in his spare time. Thank you Ed!
Negative experience: Price just doesn’t fit with the atmosphere, enjoyed my week free trial tho, much appreciated the lovely gentleman on the desk flicking the button for the boys
Negative experience: The facilities are great, but they're not of much benefit when the club decide's to close them and don't give even a timeframe on when they'll reopen. I signed up a several months ago, with the promise of having a family changing room and a supervised play area that I could leave my kid in. But the former still hasn't opened, and the latter was closed with almost no warning, making the club almost unusable to me given my circumstances. I've repeatedly tried to reach out to them to understand when I would have access to the family facilities, but after several ignored emails, I eventually was told "...refurbishments within the facilities are often necessary ... and co-operation in this respect is assumed", with an offer to freeze my account until further notice, and again ignoring all my further attempts at communication when I kept asking about a time frame. I would only recommend the club if you're ok with the facilities being there some of the time and emails being responded to some of the time, when they feel like it.
Negative experience: Just a few euro under €1000 for renewal. The sauna and steam room break down regularly and are out of use. Not all but Lots of the gym equipment is old with rust and lots of wear. Ridiculous money, definitely won't be rejoing. Ben Dunnes gym is under 300 for the year and much better and latest equipment.
Fantastic experience: I have been there for the children's play area. Normally kids birthday parties are also arranged there. There's a nice coffee shop to get some coffee and there is a toddler room as well.
Negative experience: Not even able to join. It's 2023 out there but they still come up with random "fees" on the go. Clearly no interest in new members.
Fantastic experience: The Little Kickers is great for kids. The staff are energetic and try hard to make the sessions enjoyable. Well done.
Negative experience: Lol shocking !! Enquired about joining i was a member few years back but left as i was abroad !! The membership had nearly doubled i just mentioned as its gone up a bit " i just started here" and i dunno what they "charged you years ago" .... i think someone more experienced should be answering new member queries ... Maybe tell me about your sea salt pool etc ...was litrally on the way down just wanted to know what i was paying ......ill go elsewhere !
Fantastic experience: Amazing customer service from the team and Valerie. Great live and virtual classes. Private and friendly environment. Great spa area with sea salt swimming pool, ice cold tank, jacuzzi etc... Best place to train and recover in Dublin. Highly recommend.
Negative experience: Really poor service at the reception. Had an appointment and was asked to wait, a couple walked after me and they immediately got to speak with someone. Wasted more than 20 mins there. The parking was too busy.
Negative experience: Probably one of the worst places to get a straight answer! 1.93 on the website which is just under 58 euros a month, but if you go speak to the 12 year old sales guy its 89 euros a month! Something don't make sense here - plus there is a 800 euro joining fee that the website says nothing about. Guess Ben Dunne is right!
Positive experience: Grand facilities, however very dated throughout. Swimming pool needs major refurbishment. Sauna zone has got a new jacuzzi recently, however sauna itself is very cold at only 60 degrees. Gym zone is ok generally with plenty of classes and equipment. Parking can be difficult at peak hours.
Fantastic experience: Leopardstown club is quite fancy, with gym, tennis courts, squash courts, boxing, yoga and even a swimming pool. There is an one time entry fee, besides the monthly regular pay, but it's affordable. Children are less than half price. Reception available until late in the evening and free ample parking. There are 15 tennis courts (they close at 8:30pm) and 4 squash courts and an online scheduler for these.
Negative experience: My 1 year of experience: poor workout and health conditions, rusty old equipment and disinterested management. The gym and facilities is very poorly maintained, resulting in humid cold environment which not only stops you from achieving your athletic potential - but is a health hazard in form of fungal growth, slippery floor and body injury (due to cold conditions and exercise). The equipment is poorly maintained and in cold humid conditions becomes rusty, noisy and uncomfortable to use. They open windows to let air in when it's below 5 degrees outside!! (ideal training environment at least over 20 degrees) The spa area is not air conditioned properly, resulting in a very unhealthy breathing environment. The sauna and steam room are too cool to provide any health benefit and are a waste of time. The Jacuzzi is kept too cold to sit in comfortably. The management doesn't keep the facilities healthy and safe and have failed on their promise to each and every member on a healthy environment. To any complaints received they simply smile and wave good-bye ://// P.S. David Lloyd in Donnybrook, is the only half decent fitness club in Dublin, double the membership price, but at least it ain't a health hazard.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant facilities, such a variety of options of things to do. Love the jacuzzi, plunge pool and steam room. Great selection of weights machines and classes.
Negative experience: Avoid at all costs. Absolutely shocking service if you need to amend your membership due to I'll health. I'd recommend canceling ddebit with the bank as they will continue to charge you full price while the membership is frozen.
Negative experience: My son and his friend are regulars here, they popped in for a session last week and their clothes along with car keys were stolen, apparently this has happened to many others and still West Wood Club have done nothing to sort out the ongoing situation.
