Wynn's Hotel Dublin: Opinions

4.4/5 (200 Opinions)

Fantastic experience: I visited the restaurant and the food was very tasty and good value.

Tony Jones 6 months ago

Fantastic experience: Rooms are a bit on the small side, the shower was great, but the sink is tiny (not a big deal). Fantastic location, 10 minute walk from the main train station, tram stop outside the hotel as well. Breakfast was amazing, I had the full Irish twice (fantastic) and on the last morning I had the eggs benadicts. Loads of choice for other things as well. I will go back as its a great hotel.

Fantastic experience: Location is superb and close to the Dublin Express pickup making it easy to get back to the airport. Rooms are modest and very clean. The included breakfast is fantastic. THE STAFF IS TRULY WONDERFUL. Stayed 4 nights and can’t say enough good things about them. Their hospitality is infectious. They’re all genuinely happy to be working and so cheerful to say hello whether you’re leaving or returning to the hotel. Truly the gem to an already swell hotel.

Positive experience: Located close to several public parking options, and right on the Liffey in the city center, the Wynn is perfectly located to explore Dublin by foot. We were easily able to see the Book of Kells, the national museums, and Temple Street comfortably. The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful in getting us in, and arranging a taxi to the airport. Breakfast was superb;no need to venture out and pay for a sit down elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: had a wonderful stay at wynn’s hotel! i definitely recommend staying here when visiting dublin or in dublin city for the night. the reception was really helpful and quick check in and check out, check out being at 12pm which is an amazing bonus! the breakfast was such a great experience too, the continental breakfast and the cooked breakfast selection offering heaps of delicious food. the staff working breakfast were also super attentive and gave excellent service. the housekeeping also attended our room on our second day and left the room wonderfully clean, replaced all the towels, and even popped all our birthday balloons nicely on the bed which was a very kind touch. overall we had a lovely stay at wynns and i would definitely return!

Fantastic experience: Can't fault Wynns. Check out the carvery lunch served from 12pm. Great service and so handy to Luas and Central Dublin.

Ana MJ 6 months ago

Positive experience: The location is excellent, perfect access to the LUAS and airport express bus, as well as to most places in town. The staff was very nice, including the breakfast staff (great breakfast each day!). But I cannot recommend the Wynn's due to the rooms. My room had a heater that couldn't be turned off (the little wheel to set the temperature did nothing in any direction) and the room stayed really suffocating until almost midnight when the heater would finally turn off, and the walls were SO think that I got woken up by the neighbor room guests having normal conversations, because it sounded as if they were in my room. The temperature and the noise from the poor sound isolation made me sleep quite poorly both nights. So next time I will choose a hotel likely still in the same area, but not this one. Management should invest in upgrading the rooms (also the carpet covering stairs and corridors and rooms!), because otherwise the location and everybody that I came across working at the hotel would have earned a 5* score.

Fantastic experience: I recently had a meal at Wynns and it exceeded expectations. The sea bass was lovely, and the desserts were super sweet! There was a generous portion size and the staff were excellent. Neil especially was so helpful and pleasant to deal with. Will definitely be back. Thanks!

Positive experience: Old-fashioned Hotel in Centre of Dublin.. Great lunches. A landmark not yet destroyed by progress. Get there early for lunch or queue for a table. Succulent lamb from the Carvery.

Fantastic experience: This is for The saints and scholars bar rather than the hotel itself- I never stayed - but the food was wonderful. It was a dreary Tuesday evening in February but this was easily the best presented and best tasting roast lamb I’ve ever had. Whoever the chef is deserves credit… unreal and only €20 !! By the way the bar itself is beautiful and well run - this place is old school refinery in the best way.

Negative experience: The bar itself is nice - very old fashioned with an open fire. The bar man (balding man in his 60s) unfortunately is rude and dismissive, so much so that we had to leave and take our business to the bar next door where we received a much friendlier service.

We are sorry to hear of your experience. Our staff behind the bar are not as described but we will certainly check this out.

Negative experience: YES! I didn't stay and you wouldn't refund my money. Your hotel doesn't resemble the photos AT ALL! and your staff made me pay on site at check-in before I got to see the hotel's tiny outdated corridors and rooms!

Wynn's Hotel Dublin
Wynn's Hotel Dublin

Just to clarify you arrived at the Hotel at 8am, check in is 3pm. Our staff offered you a room straight away as you said you where tired. This room was not suitable so when we told you we would give you another room but it was not ready at this time of the morning you would not wait and went on to book somewhere else without even waiting to check out the other room. It appears your issue is more to do with booking another Hotel without waiting on our staff trying to accommodate you. Our refund policy is clear and in this instance it is not merited.

This review was already posted. Now there was only one room booked so no point getting friends to post reviews thst have not even been to the Hotel.
This is SPAM review and unacceptable

Negative experience: Disappointed. Booking didn’t match anything posted online including pictures. When asked they said the photos are for 3 renovated suites that are unavailable.

Wynn's Hotel Dublin
Wynn's Hotel Dublin

Please note the original person who made this booking was offered a different room type but was not interested in waiting on the Hotel getting it ready. The Hotel was booked through a 3rd party site and room descriptions are there to see. Our tstaff did all possible to accommodate the guest but nothing was acceptable. Having various people post reviews when they did not stay or visit the premises is pointless and spam.

Fantastic experience: A very nice hotel situated at the centre of Dublin. The rooms are comfy with super soft bed linens, towels and bathroom towels. The bed was firm and comfortable, so I had a very good night's sleep. The included breakfast was hearty and served at the table a la carte. There are various breakfast choices including a buffet style cereals, cakes, juices, ham, cheese, buns etc in addition to the hot food menu where you can get pancakes full English breakfast and tea, coffees etc.

Fantastic experience: Wynn's Hotel in Dublin masterfully combines historic charm with modern comfort. Established in 1845, this iconic establishment offers elegantly furnished rooms that provide a cozy retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. Positive experience: We stayed at Wynns for two nights and had a great stay! The bed was comfy and the room was cute and had temperature control. Location is great especially if you’re taking transit or walking in the city. Breakfast was included and amazing as well! Only downside is that is next to a DART station and is a little noisy, though it dies down at night. I’m a light sleeper and slept fine!

Positive experience: I recently stayed at Wynns Hotel in Dublin for a couple of nights to celebrate my dad’s birthday, and I was thoroughly impressed. The hotel exudes a charming, old-world character, and it’s evident that it is well-maintained and impeccably clean. The staff were all incredibly friendly and accommodating, which added to the overall pleasant experience. One of the highlights of our stay was the complimentary breakfast. We opted for the Full Irish breakfast both mornings, and it was absolutely fabulous. I would highly recommend it to anyone staying at the hotel. However, I did find it a bit odd that the waiter was using a vacuum cleaner during breakfast service both mornings. Given that the carpets in the breakfast room were already clean, it seemed like an unnecessary distraction. But this is a minor gripe in an otherwise delightful experience. The hotel’s location is another significant advantage. There is a tram stop right outside the hotel, providing convenient links to the Guinness Storehouse and other attractions. Additionally, the tour bus stop is just a 30-second walk away, making it easy to explore the city. Overall, Wynns Hotel did a fantastic job in making our stay memorable. Well done, Wynns Hotel!

Fantastic experience: We stayed at Wynn's Hotel for three nights in late September and could not have been happier. Room was spotless clean and a lovely mixture of old traditionality and modern with a rather freshly updated bathroom. We got excellent service all the way. Breakfast was great and versatile and we recieved an early breakfast on the last day since we had to to leave to airport at 7am. Now I've read some reviews about the noices from the streets. It is true that this is not the most quiet hotel there is, so if you are a light sleeper, maybe prep with earplugs or choose another location, but we were not bothered at all. Location is so spot on in the middle of everything and easy access to public transport (to airport aswell) that light troubles like this can easily be forgiven. If you look for modern and very quiet environment, this hotel may not be for you. But someone enjoying traditions, good service, lovely people and superb location we can wholeheartedly recommend Wynn's Hotel. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: As always Wynns in my first choice when staying in Dublin. Roberta at reception is the most helpful lady ever and all the staff are lovely. You know when a place is generally nice when you keep going back for years and you still see the same staff who interact great with each other. They are happy which means a lot. The comfie cozy rooms, the luas right outside the door to access anywhere in Dublin and 1 mins from all the shops with the added bonus of delicious food between your breakfasts and the carvery / bar food. Win win.

Fantastic experience: We love Wynn’s Hotel and stay there every time we visit Dublin. A lovely Irish hotel, privately owned. Very welcoming and friendly, Great breakfast, served to our order. Positive experience: We had a great stay here, we got off the train in Huston station and on to the Luas which stopped outside the door of the Hotel. I found the staff to be very friendly and our room was very clean and the bathroom was big and most importantly the shower was brilliant. The breakfast was lovely the next morning, the choice was great and the staff were very polite and helpful. The hotel is so central to everything. I highly recommend a stay.

Positive experience: AVOID ROOM 128. First the good…good location, clean room, robes. Room 128 was designed for wheelchair guests. There are no hangars or place to hang anything. There are no hooks of any sort for a towel or clothing. The hotel places the towels and robes on a towel warming rack not near the shower. There are no luggage racks or place to put your luggage, so luggage must be placed on the floor. The bed is pushed against the wall on one side and if two people share the room, one of the suitcases must be placed at the end of the bed between the bed and the window leaving only one way out of the bed for the person sleeping closest to the wall. There is no power outlet in the bathroom for a hairdryer and the closest outlet to the mirror in the room is about 5 feet away. There is no counter space at all in the bathroom and the sink ledge is narrow. There are two sinks for some reason and one of them is very small, also no ledge at all. All of this paled in comparison to when we opened the curtain on the room to see the view..it was a ledge filled with garbage (yes, from this hotel) and old toilet seats. When we brought this to the attention of the staff, yes, this is normal and sorry if it bothered us. What the heck? Oh, I forgot to mention it was $400 a night for this view. AVOID.

Negative experience: Unpleasant staff. I was there to meet the cousin of my client (I'm a carer). The old lady in the reception was so arrogant when I asked where we could wait, remaining indifferent. Also the old waiter, he showed me disdain as I waited for the four ladies to finish their tea.

Hi
Sorry for any problems you may have encountered. I just need to clarify we do not have any elderly ladies working at reception and again quite a young staff in our Restaurant and Lounge - can you give me some more details on dates etc and I can investigate this further.
Please do come back with a response as sometimes reviews are put in to the detriment of the property and when we try to resolve or find out what happened we get no feed back again which is not helpful for all.

Regards

Fantastic experience: We stayed here recently for our anniversary trip to Ireland and we enjoyed it very much. It’s an older hotel but is very charming in a great location close to many bus stops (great if you’re using Leap), and the breakfast service was quick and beautiful! The rooms are pretty bare bones and a few things were lacking but not too noticeable. There is no air conditioning and the windows are not able to open fully for cool air so we were very warm. The tea and coffee they have is instant (would have been nice to be a nespresso or coffee machine). And they do not provide conditioner in their toiletries. They only provide hand soap, body wash, and shampoo which are a good size, but personally I needed conditioner for my hair. Just FYI for any other travellers. They also do not have any amenities other than their bar and breakfast service. There was no gym, laundry, or pool as far as I could tell. Obviously not a requirement, but we had been travelling from the west of Ireland for a week prior so we would have appreciated laundry, but it did not detract from our time at the hotel. Just another FYI to other travellers. Overall enjoyed our time greatly, and would recommend to others. Their breakfast service is really what puts them above what I would consider a 3-star hotel, but the hotel staff were all incredibly kind and helpful!

Negative experience: First off, we're a very well travelled couple in our 60s. We rarely complain unless necessary. Wynn's Hotel Spanish girl on reception absolutely lovely. As for the rest of the hotel... Overpriced. Location and breakfast are the only two good things about this hotel. Inaccurate descriptions of the rooms. Didn't get what we were promised. No fridge. No desk. No coffee machine (kettle and sachets of coffee) Don't choose a room at the front, the view is of a dirty old town, and the noise from the street is horrendous despite "triple glazing". On that matter we had to block up a cold draft coming through the frame.. And the blackout blinds are useless when they're 15cms away from the window..had to tape the blinds to the frame to make it as good as the pic. sleeping on the bed was like sleeping on the pavement, Far too hard. Noise from other people's showers was louder than the tv. Asked for room change... Got a downgrade. Won't be returning. Wynn's : sort out your descriptions on your website and other sites.

Positive experience: it’s a cool old building with a decent breakfast including vegan options. The service was great. Rooms were also clean with a nice updated bath. Cons side, building shook a bit with the trains passing. The food at the hotel restaurant is not great, but they make a decent Irish Coffee. So I’d stick to enjoying beverages there. Big beware! There recommended parking location is not open 24hrs and has limited hours. We were not told this and nor is it posted on their website. (Update: hotel said they were now updating their website to include this information). We would have missed our flight if not for the help of a stranger. This should be made much more clear to their guests. The parking is a couple blocks from the hotel

Positive experience: OK if you get a renovated room. We first got a room with an extremely narrow bed for two people, and did not sleep all night. Next day they gave us a better room though, so it was OK. They must get more personnel at breakfast, the wait was unacceptable.

Fantastic experience: At this very central hotel the room was good and spacious. Breakfast was very good also, although the breakfast room fills up quickly and staff are not always aware of you waiting for them to assign a table. We had good fun at the bar when we returned from the pubs in the centre. Overall the staff was very very friendly, even when my friend was being very critical about some things. The things he was critical about: 1. the WiFi signal in the room was intermittent. Not a problem for me personally. 2. he thought there were only two plug sockets in the room. In the end it turned out there were four, so it wasn't a problem after all. Since Dublin is never cheap to stay overnight, I would consider this hotel relatively good value for money.

But the meal and service were both excellent, the location is central and convenient and the room in which our reunion was held was simple but elegant and perfect. Well done to those who looked after us.

Positive experience: Rooms are tired but staff are super friendly, genuine and helpful. Breakfast was top notch. Unfortunately Abbey St and O Connoll St have a lot of dodgy characters at night these days.

Positive experience: Didn't stay here, just called in to the bar as it's a great location for access to buses and coaches. Reasonable price and friendly bar staff. 10-15 minute walk to Grafton Street.

Fantastic experience: We stayed for 2 nights at this lovely hotel. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and always willing to help. The room was immaculate and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located in the centre near a lot of transportation links including bus and tram stops. The breakfast was delicious and brought out very quickly. We would highly recommend staying here! 5 stars!

Fantastic experience: Stayed here while visiting Dublin for 5 days. I really liked the hotel and its location since I wanted to visit as many places as I could while visiting the country. Great for local sites and also relatively close to day tour pick-ups as well. It has a tram station right near the hotel. Bus stops are also close with the airport express bus stop about 5 minutes away. The service provided at this hotel was fantastic. It felt very high-end for the price we paid. I really liked the breakfast service. We felt like family being greeted every morning, and the food was quite good, offering something for everyone. The room was excellent size, and provided plenty of room to spread out and relax after a busy day. I would highly recommend this hotel to any first-time travelers visiting Dublin.

Fantastic experience: This hotel was a great stay, and we are really happy we began and ended our honeymoon there. The last night of our trip happened to be during the riots on 11/23, and the Wynn's was so helpful and accommodating the night of and morning after that experience. They went above and beyond to help us get to the airport the next morning, and we can't thank them enough! Breakfast was probably the best out of anywhere we stayed in Ireland. The staff is friendly, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. The location is convenient and walkable for downtown Dublin, and there is a LUAS train stop right out front. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Dublin!

Fantastic experience: I was torn between 4 and 5 stars for rooms. The building itself is pretty old (build in XIX century, with renovation in XXth) and that shows - just a bit. For me personally it was a pro, but I imagine it can be a con for some people. If I were badly allergic, then it would definitely matter for me. Besides that, I had a really good stay - the staff was professional and friendly, accomodations were ready ahead of time and the breakfast was very tasty.

Fantastic experience: We organised a get together in Wynn's last week and we were delighted. The staff couldn't have been nicer and accommodated us in every way, even though for various reasons none of us arrived at the same time. Will definitely visit again

Fantastic experience: We were looking for a cosy and relaxing place to eat and come across the Wynn's hotel. The food was very nicely presented and very tasty. The decoration will transport you to a few decades back, which I love. The service was excellent, from the friendly Spanish girl in the reception to the waitress that served us. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Fantastic experience: I love this hotel. It is old with memorabilia and stained glass in the bar. My favorite thing is breakfast with options on the menu and items ready to eat on buffet. Eggs benedict is the best ever! Staff is friendly. Rooms are comfortable. You are in walking distance of everything. Ask for Trolley directions.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful victorian hotel, decor and interior was gorgeous. Room very spacious, bathroom modern and spotless and the breakfast was delicious. Staff were all very attentive and kind. I will definitely stay here again. Very central also just off oconnell Street.

Negative experience: Bit dated but very clean. Nice breakfast. Stayed there last night and there was a bit of an issue. Went to a show in the Academy and afterwards went for a pint at a pub just across the road, as Wynns bar was closed at 10pm. Came back by 11:30pm to find ourselves locked out, gates completely shut. Only for there was a girl trying to get out at the same time, we would've been stuck outside all night, which can be dangerous in that part of Dublin. The girl had to go find the night porter, who by the way wasn't too keen on leaving us in, poor attitude from the man. I know damn well not to stay here again.

Hi Sophie
Thank you for your comments. We are sorry to hear you had an issue getting back into the Hotel. We do have a doorbell to alert our Night Porter when guests arrive in after the gates are closed. We will certainly speak to the Gentlman on duty to find out what the issue was as this has always been the policy in the Hotel and we have not had any problems with this before.

Regards
Management

Fantastic experience: One of my favorite places I’ve ever stayed at. It’s very centrally located making it walking distance to just about everything. The staff was very welcoming, they allowed for early check in which was convenient. Every time you leave you have to give back your room key which is very neat in my opinion, it is like an old way of doing things. The room was nice and spacious, comfortable bed and a new updated bathroom. A little pricey but compared to other hotels in the area, probably the best bang for your buck.
