Negative experience: We booked away for the weekend and everything was going smoothly tell we were not allowed to eat at the restaurant yes we were stop we ask the guy in there can we have a table tonight at 7.30 for 5 and he looks at us and said no were fully booked when I look over his shoulder and there was only 2 people in the hole bar then I said ok when I went back to my room ask my wife to make a booking by reception and thay were lovely yes we have loads of tables...am ok so he didn't likethe look of us .... simple....we had to go with out food over this... man black hair bad attitude ....jest if you book be prepared to be stop because he will definitely....and at the restaurant or bar because of your looks also we dressed casually noting weird .won't be going back ...Archs next door is better and cheaper.

Positive experience: Food was edible but wouldn't return. Pizza was greasy and tasted slightly of reused cooking oil. Steak Sandwich was very bland.

Positive experience: This is a very nice hotel situated less than 25 mins from Galway city centre. The town of Claregalway (Bhaile Chláir) itself hasn't got much going on but there is one or two pubs within walking distance that have lots of charm and some decent Guinness on draught. We arrived late on a Monday night (unfortunately too late for dinner) and were warmly greeted by the staff at reception, who gave us a rundown of the options for food in the town at such a late hour. The rooms we stayed in were spacious and comfortable, with large beds and a suitable bathroom, as well as all of the facilities we have come to expect in Ireland's 4 star hotels. We did not make use of the leisure centre but, having spoken to many locals who frequent the swimming pool and gym, we can vouch for its reputation in the area. The gym is busy well into the evenings and the pool regularly has swimming lessons for children. The food in the hotel was good. We found the breakfast selection to be very good, and food made to order arrived quickly, as well as plenty of tea and coffee. For dinner, we had the beef featherblade special and the Cajun chicken burger. Both were adequate and tasty, but nothing to write home about. We would recommend at least one trip to Galway city, where there are numerous eateries and bars of very high quality, for a comparable price. Overall, this is a hotel I would not hesitate to book again if I was planning to stay in the area. It's location, cleanliness, friendliness, and facilities make it well worth the price for solo travellers, couples, and families. 4.1/5⭐

Fantastic experience: The staff at the Claregalway Hotel are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and everything is done with a smile. The room was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The food was fantastic and a good variety. It's a lovely little village with beautiful surroundings, just a short drive to Galway city and Salthill. Negative experience: The restaurant is a joke , everything else is spectacular, the staff at the pool area at the reception couldn’t do enough for us. Shame about the staff/ host manager (man) in a suit in the restaurant and one waiter also (male) treating us very poorly. Make sure if your a young couple you say to them at entry if you want to enjoy your evening meal with a drink that you are 18+ with proof of id and are a resident in the hotel. We had a lot of trouble with this and finally got the answer we needed at the end of the trip on the Saturday night.

Positive experience: The food was fine. I had dinner there 2 days in a row. The dinning room welcome desk and the payment are the same. You have to wait over at least 5 mins to pay and others were skipping the queue and those at the desk allow it. I think the service is terrible. The payment desk should be separate. You're going away with the memory of a terrible service rather than a good meal. That welcome/payment desk let's the hotel down. Very poor experience overall.

Negative experience: We booked here for my birthday as we loved it the last time we stayed .We rang ahead a day before to check if everything was running due to the storm we were told everything was fine ,so we travelled the 2 hours to get here .We got here and everything was grand ,later on in the day the power went and so did the hot water ,we were told the power will be back in an hour when we rang the front desk ,the male receptionist told us he'd ring and notify us if the power was coming back or not ,he did not bother to ring ,we couldn't shower as the water was freezing ,meaning we went to bed feeling gross and sweaty and makeup being left mostly on.We checked out early and was giving a measly 20% off our next stay after paying €205 for 1 night as they couldnt give us a refund as they said it wasnt the hotels fault yet we did ring ahead after the storm . Doubt we'll stay here again. Was such a let down

Positive experience: Quite small hotel, nothing special, plain enough and "oldish" looking. Service was great, I stayed with my girls, the receptionist gave them colouring papers and pencils. Room was spacious, beds were comfy, carpets were very soft, bathroom was clean. They do tasty homemade food and good breakfast. All staff been super nice and friendly, we had pleasant stay. The only negative thing was the neighbours next door with very young kids, they were noisy and parents didn't seem to bother much.

Fantastic experience: A great location near to the city. Stayed here during Christmas 2024 to go to Elf Town, and also into the city for the Christmas Market and aquarium. Convenient for both purposes with some convenient shops right outside the door, like a pharmacy, and Centra, and a couple of minutes walk to Super Valu and some more. The family room was very spacious and comfortable, since minor signs of wear. The Christmas decorations were nice but the highlight is staff, all very friendly and very helpful. We had dinner booked for 4 as part of the package but with one of the kids falling sick, they brought a dinner up to the room for us for no cost as one of the parents needed to stay up there with the patient. Will definitely look to them again as first choice of we need to start in the area.

Negative experience: The hotel was nice, some staff are really good Especially Anna in the reception she’s an angel. When there was a power outage in the area during the strong winds last few days, we were left without any water in the tap or shower. We just had a dip in their pool, the 3 of us including my 1 year old baby was left without clean warm water to use to rinse off the chlorine from the pool from our body. Anyhow, Anna went above and beyond her role to bring a bucket of warm water even though it isn’t part of her job. I am not happy with the tone of voice of their manager who is on duty on 21st of october, 2024 that morning, when she only explained the problem without even being empathetic of our situation. The hotel doesn't have any contingency plan when this things happen. Well I hope they give their guests some updates when there will be interruptions in their services as so we can also avoid this things to happen again. In the end we checked out past 2pm of that day free of late check out charge as we waited for the water pressure to return and we were able to have a bath after all that inconvenience.

Positive experience: There was some mold in the grout of the tub in the bathroom. A piece on the door was broke. I think the rooms need a bit of a refresh. The staff were very nice and helpful and the restaurant was great. The manager never called us back about an issue with the room. That was disappointing.

Negative experience: AVOID!!! Staff in suits on a complete power trip it’s laughable lying to paying costumers (locals) saying a different lie every time I don’t drink yet turned away because it is resident’s yet many locals in there even tho there is a residents bar in the hotel elsewhere avoid, young staff can’t fault them all on the men in suits thinking they are all that it’s only a small hotel relax
Fantastic experience: My family and I received a warm welcome to this lovely hotel after a long day traveling. With a late arrival and the kitchen closed they really looked after us with some fresh home made sandwiches. A fab bar and very comfortable and stylish bedroom was just what we needed. The swimming pool was a big hit and the changing area was spotless and very modern. Looking forward to our next stay already. I am certain that this is a hotel we will return to again and again and being a mere 15 minute drive to Galway city is super convenient. 5 star experience from start to finish. Family owned and run and this is what sets it apart from the others.

The girls minding them were lovely. Food in the restaurant was delicious and the staff were so friendly and welcoming . The outside terrace is really fab and lovely atmosphere. Negative experience: I don't usually leave reviews. But I feel compelled to do so regarding this hotel. I was extremely disappointed with our stay here for 3nights. The 3 stars for service is solely based on the 2 girls for the kids club, and some waiters (young barman making cocktails and the other female waitresses). The location is extremely quiet with not much to see only the old friary down the road. Best to spend your days in Galway city. The restaurant and bar has no atmosphere there is no entertainment, no music in the evenings (even radio music would have been nice or volume. On TV for the matches). Also theres no snack in the bar you need to use the vending machines. Be aware that if staying midweek the menu does NOT change... This is not advertised on the website. We had to leave hotel for food. The breakfast was nice buffet style and certain foods cooked to order. Regarding the rooms, when first entering the room it is nice, we had to ask for more towels on the first day. Second day we left hotel for the day to return to no towels in the room and had to ring reception to bring towels up. Never took rubbish from room. Just about made beds and left. Cups were left back beside kettle not changed or cleaned. Our room had a window looking our at a seating area we thought was not in use to only see builder walking past the window. The swimming pool is okay, but kids swimming lessons were on so was busy and parents were staring in the window of the pool so wasn't a relaxed swim, jaccuzi is luke warm and not working. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the kids clubs so well done to Evelyn and hannah! However when we left the kids in for the first night, it was our very first time leaving them into a kids club and wanted to see how they were getting on so asked at reception could we check on them to be told "I'm not sure where they are" eventually after demanding to know what room they were in we got to see them and they didn't want to leave having so much fun. Don't tell a parent you don't know where their children are and for a parent to have to demand to see their children is simply not on. Would I stay here again? Absolutely not!! I don't understand how this hotel is a 4 star rating.

Fantastic experience: I had a good time in the hotel; the family room was excellent - great set-up and very friendly staff. Good location - close to Galway and great parking. Fantastic experience: We stayed in a Family Room which had 3 twin beds and one double. It was a perfect home base for us to be able to visit family near Galway and travel around Ireland to many of the spots we wanted to visit. Fresh waters each day, a room refresh, and very pleasant reception staff. Close to a number of restaurants + Bia onsite was very convenient.

Fantastic experience: I only went there for something to eat. The menu was great, actually catered for my intolerances too. I had the chicken stir fry with rice. The portion size was massive but so tasty. The bar is pretty superb too. I would highly recommend the food for sure and the staff were really friendly too. I would recommend booking though. It's a busy place.

Positive experience: Poor unfortunately. Tea and a scone is a fairly simple thing to get right, but the eventual delivery was tediously slow and the scone was inedible. Microwaved to the point where the inside was burnt to rock hard and charred.

Negative experience: Had booked a stay here for a couple of nights. Location was good. But, since the time I stepped in, something didn't feel right. The lady at the reception was annoying. Anyway, moving past that, my wife and I checked into our room. First things first, wi-fi did not work. We raised a complaint and were told by the animated manager, who was a couple of feet from the room that the wifi had no issues, as if we knew nothing about tech and didn't know how to connect to wifi. The management did NOTHING to help us get connected to internet. It was clearly the range that was not getting all the way to our room. They barely listened though and kept saying - "Everything is working fine". Classic Indian run management. Sounded just like my dad when I was a kid. I then had a food allergy and had to checkout the same night due to the emergency. I had the MOST stressful time dealing with the allergy, re-booking my flights back to the states with their messed up wifi for which I had to sit in the lobby. They did not give a damn about anything! Once I got everything sorted out for my travel back, I was waiting to checkout, there was no one at the reception. Felt like a motel where the manager on duty would have a separate room to sleep in. Anyway, someone finally came and helped out. Since I technically didn't even spend a night at the hotel, I wanted a refund back at least for the second night. The arrogant manager wouldn't respond initially and then the next day would casually respond saying it is against policy to issue a refund. Like W**??? Not one person in the management has any remorse in this place. This place is a scam. They will loot your money and offer below par services. Stay away. Next time I'm in Galway, I'll NOT be coming back here.

Our welcome from Karisma was wonderful giving us a feeling of security in the knowledge they actually cared which we also received from Angel (waiter) and Nikol (waitress) during both evening meals. Negative experience: researched the hotel through booking and the design and sink were very important to me. I looked at all the photos in detail and we paid our fee and entered the room on April 13. But we saw that the room was very different from the photos. When I went down to the reception and explained the situation, they told me that these bathrooms were suites. There were no pictures of the other bathrooms. However, the girl working at the reception gave a derogatory answer by asking "Have you ever stayed in a hotel before?" and I was very sorry, it was very rude, I am very sorry for the money I paid, it was a bad experience.

Positive experience: Aside from an issue with the AC in room (please check yours), the hotel was nice. They changed our room and we're apologetic about the heat the previous night. Pool is nice, small kiddie pool, sauna, steam room and very warm jacuzzi. The showers in pool weren't great as they are using aerated water (part of being sustainable) so the children found it bit sore on their back, it also felt like shampoo didn't rinse out well, but overall it was clean and well kept. The staff were the best part of the hotel so very helpful. The dinner menu in bia could do with a few vegetarian options added, breakfast was self service but you could order pancakes, omelette etc. There were a number of EV charging points behind the hotel and it's located near pharmacy,post offce and supervalu (grocery store). The traffic in Claregalway between 430-6pm was a nightmare. The traffic lights cause a few km tailback from Galway at that time. Nothing to do with the hotel but worth bearing in mind of visiting.

Positive experience: 4 of us stayed here. Our daughters had a lovely big room and a balcony if weather had been nice instead of rain & wind. Made them feel at home after years in London. Brexfast was good and we all loved that beans came out fresh when ordered and not gelling in a container for hours. Vegetarian and Vegan options. Also Gluten free. So all 4 of us( including 1 meat eater)were happy. We also had dinner in hotel and again everyone of were able to eat. Pool lovely and quiet at 8am. Positive experience: Room was clean and very decenty sized. Nice to have use of a pool/sauna/steamroom/jacuzzi. Evening meals were very tasty, although there was a restricted menu for any nights our meal was included, which I can understand. I had the same meal twice and one night it was amazing, but the next night just good. Entertainment was decent. Breakfast only started at 8am Saturday and Sunday which we thought was quite late. Plates/utensils/crockery at breakfast weren't that clean. I thought the breakfast self-service layout was pretty bad. Breakfast food was ok, but not amazing and some of the bread was as if it had been slightly toasted already, but it hadn't been.

Fantastic experience: We had visited this hotel for celebrating our Wedding Anniversary and couldn’t ask any more it was splendid and beautiful. Rooms were luxurious and comfortable. Stay was too good without any problems. You have lot of parking spaces and gym as well if you want to workout. We had a booking with breakfast included and the breakfast was good too. We had full Irish Breakfast and it tasted good too. Would visit again even if it’s half hour away from Galway City.

Fantastic experience: Hotel is very clean! Suite was big and bed comfy. Breakfast was very good. Robert the bartender was great and so were the others. Redhead not so nice, she needs a better attitude with women. Other than that our stay was perfect! Definitely will go back.

Fantastic experience: Great welcome, lovely atmosphere & food. Busy bar with lots of atmosphere, well staffed, live music when we were there! Feels like a "local" in the best sense. The outdoor area is very comfortable and well decked out.

Fantastic experience: I worked at the hotel when it first opened and have been to visit several times since, but this was my first time staying there. Fantastic experience: We held our sons Christening Meal at the Claregalway Hotel yesterday . I cannot recommend the hotel enough. From the amazing food to the wonderful staff who went above and beyond to make our day extra special. Also to the wonderful owners of the hotel Noel and Pauline for all their help on the day and the beautiful gift for our little boy and to Karissma their manager for all her help organising the menu and fine details on the day . We regularly come to the Claregalway hotel for meals because their chef is the best in the business and our children attend core fitness for swimming lessons. Overall it is one of the best hotels in Galway ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Positive experience: Hotel in need of updating , carpets and decor old. Room was booked for three people and had to ask for third tea cups, water and glasses and towels. Leisure centre very old and changing rooms in need of good clean and updating. Most lockers wouldn't lock.

Positive experience: Really lovely hotel. Staff, especially in the Restaurant/ Bar are lovely and very accommodating. Our room was clean and spacious. Outside the hotels control but only negative is the traffic between Galway City to/ from the hotel can be a bit of a nightmare.

Positive experience: We got a last minute booking here. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant. There was a nice atmosphere and the food was tasty. The pool was great and has a separate shallow pool for children. The beds were comfy in a good sized family room. Our only issue was the shower drain was blocked in the bathroom and flooded the floor. The staff were very helpful and apologetic when we informed them. I would stay in the hotel again and recommend it.

Negative experience: This review is coming from a local, myself and my partner have been coming here for over two years on their quiet days we have no problem ever getting served drink my partner 25 and myself 22 have came many times on a first name’s basis and today the second of august on Galway race week we get id and denied entry after spending so much money here in our local and knowing many staff by name they only want an older group when it suits and they will allow anyone else in when it’s not busy it’s embarrassing on their behalf to only allow who they want I will never spend another cent in there and you shouldn’t either.
