Positive experience: Pretty decent gym & swimming pool, the facilities and management could definitely be improved though. The main focus seems to be on the gym there, which has 4 huge rooms full of equipment. There's also a separate ladies gym. As a casual gym-goer, I find that there's a great selection of cardio machines, strength training machines, and loads of free weights. The gym is usually pretty busy during peak times, but you'll always be able to find a spot somewhere. There's also 2 studios for classes, which can be also be used while there's no classes ongoing. The pool is grand. It does the job. It's 15m and there's no deep / shallow end, it's all the same depth. There's also a sauna and steam room. There are much better and bigger pools around though, so if you're only wanting to join for the pool, I would consider other options. The changing rooms, I think, are the biggest downfall. They could definitely be improved. They are open plan, which is fine I guess, but as a very self conscious person, it makes me uncomfortable. There also doesn't seem to be any consideration for gender non-conforming people, as there's only male or female. There are lockers but you need to bring a lock yourself for them, which is pretty standard. Many of the lockers are broken though, so there's no way to lock them. Generally I've been able to find an available, not broken one though. The showers leave a lot to be desired. They have frosted glass swinging doors, kind of like a saloon door, but they don't meet fully in the middle so you do feel kind of exposed. I've started hanging my towel spread out completely over it for a bit more privacy, but that doesn't feel very hygienic. There is a basket to put shampoo, etc into, but I haven't seen any hooks to hang things on, which would be nice to have. They have also smelled pretty bad a few times I've been there. The hairdryers are also, unfortunately very bad. There doesn't seem to be any high power setting so it would take hours to dry your hair completely. Initially I went down there and asked it I could do a trial run before committing to a membership. Was told they don't do that, and they don't do guest passes so the only options are to sign up immediately (and I believe commit to paying at least 3 months before you can cancel, but I can't quite remember because you don't get any copy of everything you signed) or go elsewhere. They gave me a quick tour of the place though. So I signed up for a membership because it's within walking distance for me and has basically what I need. While filling out the forms, I ticked the box to say that I would like to have a gym orientation. According to their website all memberships include "personalized programs", but I told them I'd just like to be shown how to use a few of the machines to get started and get a feel for the place and I might look for a specific program later. Was told to come back on 'x' day at 'y' time for it. Grand. Showed up at the specified date and time and they had no idea what I was talking about and didn't have me booked in for anything and had no one there to do an orientation. The lad at reception just gave me (another) tour of the gym, but he was at least very nice about it.

Positive experience: Seriously good gym and top notch equipment. Only slight negative, I find it at times depending on the day the music on the slighly louder side, feel it could be a notch lower but that's just personal preference. I wear ear phone equipment and still find music slightly annoying at times. Overall great spot though

Negative experience: It's expensive for the quality and equipment they have there. No liquid for cleaning your hands 3 weeks time. Sink tap not working properly and water split every where. Shower not working -10 pressure so what you can clean is your face, if you find a liquid for your hands. Very disappointed especially now when I need pay much more for membership

Fantastic experience: Great gym, freindly staff, can get busy at peak times like most gyms. However plenty of equipment, machines and a separate gym just for women. Pool, sauna and steam room is a bonus at the end of the working week to unwind.

Fantastic experience: Better than a lot of other gyms I've been to. -plenty of parking -lots of gym equipment that are always kept updated. -separate rooms for cardio / weights -classes for spinning etc upstairs -swimming pool with regular water aerobics class -clean shower facilities -sauna & jacuzzi (currently closed because of covid) There's plenty of room always between you and other people. The staff members are always around in case you need help. Unlike some other gyms, it's not full of instagrammers taking selfies Very friendly atmosphere

Fantastic experience: An excellent and well-run gym and health club. Brilliant opening hours which run from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the weekdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the weekends. No need to worry about peak and off-peak for swimming pool. Would highly recommend this gym to other people

Negative experience: This gym/leisure complex, located at Old Mallow Road, Blackpool Cork, does not offer pay-as-you-go. It only offers auto-debiting at €49.00 a month for a single person, which works out at €588 and a nasty once-off administrative joining fee of €30. Total €618, which is quite expensive. Then, if you want classes with that, it's more! Gym membership with unlimited classes will cost you €59 for a single person, which works out at €708.00. These are current prices. They offered far more membership options previously. I don't like gyms which offer limited membership options and don't offer pay-as-you-go because it makes money management more difficult. And I don't see why anyone should pay a separate fee to just for the privilege of joining on top of a high membership fee. More and more gyms are going down the road of auto-debiting and extra fees and people question the value for money element. The gym industry generally faces a huge challenge to get people back to the gym. Legions of people have bought their own gym equipment during the heavy lockdowns and may not return at all. By all accounts the gym equipment market was soaring and still is. All incentives should be used to get people back to the gym including discounts and pay-as-you-go. I cannot not see any rush of bodies on the 7th / 8th of June through the doors of gyms and they whole industry may collapse. Backing this up, it is possible to see second hand 'commercial' gym equipment been sold on advertising sites — so some gyms have wound up for good already. People may also weigh up the time and tedium it takes to go to a gym coupled with booking and limited numbers in the gym, where applicable, under current conditions and restrictions, and just do their own 10 or 20 minute routine at home ; or outside. Others are buying road bikes and they can be traded easily if in any reasonable condition. I sold one in 48 hours, no questions asked. Other non-gym recreation is also beginning to take hold: water sports, outdoor activities, and what is fast becoming popular walking groups. So, there is a lot of evidence that there has been a big shift towards self-sufficiency and away from gyms altogether. Many personal trainers will I am sure have their own private domestic clients by now and many gyms may face staffing problems, as with many sectors of the economy which have seen radical and 'permanent' shifts in consumer and staffing decision making. Therefore, it is in the gym industry's interest to do everything it can to get people back to the gym if it wants to survive. I think the industry is in serious trouble. If it wants to hold on to pre-covid membership pricing, I think it's a fatal strategy. Pay-as-you-go got the industry started off and got people into gym for their exercise needs, which encouraged them to buy annual memberships. I think a similar strategy may be needed again to get it going. I cannot see pre-covid level monthly rollover debit becoming a popular choice for many with many out of work. The industry overall could be in for one hell of a shock next month and a very cold shower indeed and it needs to take all intelligent and insightful views, observations, and hard criticism very seriously!

Fantastic experience: A great gym with a huge array of equipment and facilities. Ladies only gym room is quality and not the usual token corner you'd see in a lot of places. Staff are very friendly. I was a PT myself so can't comment on the trainers but have heard only good things about them. I was a member here a good few years back and it was nice but looked like it could have done with some investment in a few different bits of heavier duty equipment, like squat racks, etc. I'm glad I'm back here again, I'm very fussy when it comes to gym equipment but there's clearly been an injection of capital into the place and it wants for nothing. I'd highly recommend taking a tour of the place.

Dużo miejsca na cardio osobna sala do ćwiczeń siłowych plus osobna sala dla dziewczyn jest basen sauna automaty z napojami i w kilku miejscach punkt do czerpania wody. Jedyne czego mi tam brakuje to laweczek żeby przysiąść miedzy ćwiczeniami. Ogulnie polecam.Miła obsługa w miarę rozsądne ceny.

Fantastic experience: Planet Health Club is an excellent gym, with a wide range of facilities. From a plentiful supply of parking spaces and large changing rooms to an indoor pool, sauna and steam room, with an extensive weights room as well as an area for cardio equipment. There is always a free machine. Classes are very reasonable. The atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming. The staff are unfailingly helpful. Joining the Planet would be, in my opinion, money well spent.
