CHQ Dublin: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Nice building. This used to be one of quays where things used to be stored after being unloaded on the docks alongside the Liffy river. The place was renovated and now utilized to host the Irish immigration museum alongsude other offices and shops. You don't need to pay anything to get in here, but if you want to see the irish immigration musuem you will have to pay.
Negative experience: Attended for a Christmas event. Very poor venue, they seemed completely unable to heat such a large volume. Drinks massively overpriced. It shouldn't be billed as a venue for events if they are unable to manage even the bare basics.
Dear S B,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We sincerely regret to hear that your experience at an event in The chq Building was so negative.
Our events team would be grateful to hear from you via [email protected] as we work on improving our products, services and client experiences going forward.
Kind regards,
Amano
The chq Team
Fantastic experience: Wonderful warehouse style shopping centre with a focus on food offerings. Originally designed as a bonded warehouse, it served as that for almost 2 decades before an early 2000s revamp offered it a revival and b new use. Perfect spot for lunch with multiple options available.
Fantastic experience: Great place for eating and gifts and the Epic Irish Emigration Musuem can be accessed through here - really informative, easy to absorb interactive displays.
Fantastic experience: This is an incredible start up hub. The lunch place Toss'd is delicious, and they've got a Starbucks inside. We invited the DHQ innovation hub and Dogpatch Labs.
Positive experience: Attended an evening award event here. Lovely bright space. Bit slow refilling water bottles at the tables despite it being a really warm evening. Set up was lovely though.
Fantastic experience: It is a very nice building. We really enjoyed the EPIC museum.
Positive experience: Free wifi and access to Starbucks and other cafés, Dogpatch Labs, event spaces and of course the EPIC museum. You don’t need to buy a ticket to the museum to avail of the free seating inside or browse the museum gift shop. Good spot to get some work done if you’re in the area.
Fantastic experience: Entrance to immigration museum. Some coffee shops and free wifi. Good place to recharge.
Fantastic experience: I was on 27th of December around 4pm, a bank Holiday, practically all the shops,Caffè shops were closed but it looked like a nice place to come when they are all open... I went to an EPIC immigration museum which is based in there...had a good time...
Hi Sigita,
Thank you for visiting CHQ and EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum. We acknowledge that many of the outlets within our venue were closed on December 27th, and we will strive to extend opening hours going foward.
We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your museum visit.
Kind regards,
Amano - The CHQ Team
Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful time in the museum recently, including a trip to see Santa. There was plenty to entertain the kids and a good selection of places to eat indoors.
Positive experience: Went for company Christmas party. Very good meal but service a bit sporadic. However, nothing on menu suggested Christmas - but that may have been a company decision. Good location from a DART perspective.
Hi Cormac,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your meal and we will certainly take into account your valuable feedback when planning Christmas themed events with our clients and catering partners in the future.
Kind regards,
Amano - The CHQ Team
Fantastic experience: The most wonderful interesting building in Dublin which also houses the internationally renowned Epic Museum. Great coffee shops and places to eat situated in a beautiful location on the banks of the river Liffey. Well worth a visit!
Fantastic experience: When the rain comes as always in ireland this is a great place for shelter and a fantastic viriaty of shop + museum to spend a hood time...just void luch time as it can be quite busy
Positive experience: We had coffee , starbucks..which nice. Have many restaurants you can choose for lunch
Fantastic experience: This isn't at all clear from the outside, but there's actually a nice food court inside. One of Dublin's (very) few indoor spaces where you can meet people without it involving alcohol
Fantastic experience: Very historic building lots eatery choices interesting EPIC museum great spot for hosting events in corner Unit there.
Negative experience: Epic museum in the basement is well worth a visit, native or visitor. The CHQ itself isn't worth a visit unless you are looking for a bit to eat during the working day, very higglety pigglety. Kinda a waste of retail space, would expect a mini super market like M&S or SuperValu.
Fantastic experience: Epic museum is absolutely brilliant!! Highly recommend for anyone, all ages. So interesting.
Fantastic experience: Historic building with plenty to see and do. Great location and easy to get to. Epic is a great attraction and the food from The Bakehouse is delicious. Public toilets onsite.
Fantastic experience: Excellent for dinning and beers
Fantastic experience: Interesting places, recommend to family visit
Positive experience: Great modern little shopping centre. Clean, with unique shops/cafes. Worth a visit if you are in the area. I wouldn't go solely for the shopping centre though. Its not that big of a deal.
Fantastic experience: Regardless of whether you actually visit the museum or not, this is the ideal place to take a break sightseeing up near the customs House. Smashing facilities in there. That being said if you want to understand the effect Irish emigration had on the world. This is the place for you. Really informative, interactive and interesting
Fantastic experience: Great musuem, lots of modern delivery of information, first section is old Ireland, lots of reading then it becomes more visual and interactive displays. You get a map to stamp as you go through each area THIS MAP GETS YOU BACK IN FREE OF CHARGE AT ANY TIME, great value. There is also a small food court which serves the public or those visiting the museum We enjoyed a delicious lunch. Outside is the Jeanie Johnston replica ship. Lovely area for walking by the river with other sculptures on the quay side
Fantastic experience: Lovely set up unique to Dublin. Had a lovely coffee in Starbucks. Staff excellent. Facilities top class.
Fantastic experience: A must visit for anyone visiting Dublin. A couple of hours well spent learning so much about Ireland's history. So well thought out and excellently presented. The visit has made me want to learn more.
Fantastic experience: Its an spacious hall with coffee and lunch shops, most of the hall is empty. Its a very good place to have warm conversation with anyone.
Fantastic experience: Great place to have lunch during the work day. Definitely recommend.
Fantastic experience: Epic Museum was wonderful. Stories really visually displayed & related. Well worth a visit. Give yourself plenty of time to absorb all. Wouldn't recommend taking young children
Fantastic experience: A really nice place where to chill and taste a good coffee. If you don't like crowds, try to avoid it at lunch break.
Fantastic experience: Great show, we where there 3 hours and did not get to see everything. Download the app before you go, it is a great addition.
Fantastic experience: The HQ FOR Epic. It’s a great museum and lots of interesting information of immigration and history and the story……,
Positive experience: Epic museum well worth a visit but not for young children. If your interested in history be prepared to spend a few hours here
Fantastic experience: Went to visit the EPIC museum (which was well worth a visit), but the building itself is very cool and has many businesses (restaurants etc) inside.
Fantastic experience: Chq is a good place to eat something. There are multiple options available inside the chq. I tried seven wonders and it was awesome. I had a tea latte and an egg bagel. I loved it. The staff was very good and service was very quick and I loved everything about chq. Would recommend it to everyone. Dine in and take away both options are available.
Negative experience: Only a few shops are opening on a Saturday. A large number of shops are used as office. But a large number of seats in between and the availability of public toilets allow you to rest.
Fantastic experience: Quite convenient for turists. There are several stores inside, from coffee shop to tourism agencies. Aside from that, the place is very clean, with plenty of tables to sit down and catch up your breath. Free access to restrooms as well, which are very well taken care of.
Fantastic experience: While passing through Dublin, I had lunch here yesterday with my daughter and a friend who lives in Dublin. We ate at Seven Wonders, the food was very good. Seven Wonders and the CHQ building generally were very busy while we were there, however we didn't have to wait too long for our meals. Good atmosphere, would return if I am in Dublin again.
Fantastic experience: Lots of options to grab a bite to eat. Any clients based in dogpatch are happy with everything available. Great location
Positive experience: A lot of different shops. I didn't have much time to examine them all but there is a great Irish museum there that counters the narrative of what people think Irish people are like.
Positive experience: The castle is beautiful but the tour is short. 8€ are too much for me, but overall it’s worth visiting.
Fantastic experience: Has a large variety of businesses in the center. A great place to have lunch, with multiple options and the EPIC museum located there is awesome!
Fantastic experience: Great location near emigration museum , coffee shops, food and boutique shopping
Fantastic experience: Interactive museum and well worth the visit
Positive experience: Quite nice place, it's bright and you have lots of places to sit for free. I use to go there to study or when I have online classes. It's great!
Fantastic experience: Great range of eateries and shops around EPIC the museum. Plenty of tables and chairs to take a seat, have something to eat and take in the hustle and bustle. Handy stop off if you're exploring the docks. There's free toilets as well and lockers you can use till 7pm (you get a number once you've visited EPIC). The docks have been regenerated so nice area of Dublin to visit.
Fantastic experience: The Museum was super! Very interesting unfortunately I didn't have enough time to visit it completely. They should last the ticket for more than one day.
Fantastic experience: The best place to go to discover Irish history Beautiful place. Everything was awesome. Very gorgeous way to present Irish history. I will Never forget this place I highly recomanded it if you want to discover Irish past
Fantastic experience: Visiting the Epic was the best part of visiting Dublin
Positive experience: Main attraction here is the EPIC museum. There are a couple of eateries but overall unless you work nearby, there's not much of a reason to visit here
Positive experience: Good gym but it could have more equipment so people don't have to wait until another person finishes their training.
Negative experience: Took us almost 3 hours to get thru lines. No organization for keeping lines separate. Security needed more help. Ireland needs to upgrade security scanners. No explanation as to which line got to which ticket counter.
Fantastic experience: Very busy during lunch time, open space eatery style. It's ok to meet friends for a quick lunch.
Fantastic experience: Chq has a very nice ambience to it , surrounded by the dogpatch labs , most of the start up companies are there. Some amazing food joints and ofcourse the Epic meuseum.
Fantastic experience: Every one (but especially those of Irish ancestry)should visit this museum and experience the marvelous results of marrying 6 years of research with modern media can produce.
Positive experience: Small shopping mall. There are not that many shops. There is a Bakery and a Starbucks. Free WiFi and seating is also available.
Fantastic experience: This is a 'must see' on a visit to Dublin. It's main purpose is to reflect the emigration of Irish people across the globe. This may sound a bit dry at first glance, but believe me it is anything but. The topic is dealt with in interesting and spectacular ways, the use of multi media is a thing of beauty and the way various subjects are presented makes it fresh and alive. You can lose yourself and a whole afternoon in this magnificent building, don't miss it!
Positive experience: Went here for a kilo sale of pre-loved clothes. The place got pretty crowded quite soon, with a long queue at the entry. There is a changing place for trial as well.
Positive experience: A nice building with lots of natural light. Very limited shops though and no cafes that sell regular food. The cafes all sold weird concoctions I've never heard of.
Fantastic experience: The information available and the way it is presented is top class. Maybe not suitable for young children as there is lots to read and absorb while making your way through each room. Easily loose a couple of hours on this journey. We'll worth it though.
Positive experience: It's always something exciting going on here loads of things to do and food is always exciting.
Fantastic experience: Visited Epic, Emigration Museum. A must see. Excellent facility, with education and fun stuff to do.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful place. You got museum and some good restaurants and cafe shop inside
Positive experience: Going to epic museum which is attached and great, chq handy for coffees but very big open space so cold
Fantastic experience: Copperfacejacks is such a fun place and so well run. They have plenty of staff to check your Covid certs quickly and make sure that you are safe inside their nightclub. Great music and punters to have a great night.
Fantastic experience: Great welcoming and knowledgeable staff..very well laid out and signposted..beautifully designed..each gallery so different..I made the mistake of not making enough time to go into all the detail..am planning to return very soon.
Fantastic experience: The CHQ building is a product and excellent result of the years of work from the billions spent on a previously run down area after years of little to no investment from successive governments until the Spencer Dock +sheriff Street area finally got the cash injection to totally change the gateway to Dublin, the 1st place visiting people seen arriving on Ferry in the Docks 5 minutes away. The CHQ building is the Location of the now well advertised and hugely popular Irish Famine museum, surrounded by numerous small cafe/ food premises to suit every palette enclosing a central communal seated eating area, in the now more popular bright and airy long food hall, with a large glazed floor to roof, wall to wall River facing end of the building . Or if the Irish weather permits there is the option of external eating beside the River Liffey or Spencer Dock adjacent to 2 sides of this nicely renovated old customs tobacco store building while watching the kayak rental situated close by on the liffey. On the opposite end of the CHQ building from the liffey the tram stops directly outside with its line running parallel through the IFSC complex, Dublins Connolly Train station and Busarus for every choice of travel country wide and beyond.
Fantastic experience: So close to Connolly train st, lots of options for food, would recommend The Bakehouse in CHQ. Epic museum was fantastic too
Fantastic experience: One of the best museums I have visited. Gives you insight into the Irish experience, definitely worth the time.
Fantastic experience: Houses the Epic museum, one of the best experiences we ever had in our trips. An inside look at the history of modern Ireland. Must visit for everyone. Many choices for coffee or lunch also at the premises.
Positive experience: The restaurants in the CHQ are some of the best in area. In particular Tossed and seven wonders. The actual mall itself is always very clean and very spacious, in particular the bathrooms are always clean. There is an ATM just outside the bathrooms which is very useful, mostly because of the one downside of the mall...... Everything is so expensive, but that is to be expected from a mall next to the banking district. All in all a great place to visit for food and beverages and maybe a tour of epic Ireland but not for shopping (unless you want some fancy wine).
Negative experience: Food in Urban Brewery was very poor. The chicken was undercooked and some of the food was too salty. The staff were very friendly and helpful. When we did complain about the food they were very accommodating and apologetic. Cocktails were lovely. I would recommend for drinks but not for food.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant. Wonderfully done. So much history. Would definitely recommend EPIC Irish Migration History to everyone no matter age. Takes a good 2 hours to get round so be prepared
Positive experience: Good place to go with teenagers and those interested in history. Not too expensive good audio visuals with some visitor interaction
Fantastic experience: Excellent place to visit very interesting and very well put together.compared to some of Dublin's other attractions it is good value
Fantastic experience: Paid a visit to Epic museum....I was very surprised about the the detail of information here of Irish immigrants down through the centuries. Excellent value and a great day out.
Fantastic experience: We have been to the Epic museum. Kids go free in this july n August. Our kids just love the meuseum n stamped their passport of the epic meuseum.
Positive experience: Good variety of outlets offering takeaway or 'eat in' options. However, not much seating available, and most stalls close before 5 on a weekday.
Fantastic experience: Loved it. Wonderful experience. So educational and interesting. Visit lasted 4 hours. Can't recommend it enough.
Fantastic experience: Lovely building with great architecture !
Positive experience: Nice was in a wine shop the girl was very nice to talk to good range of craft beers too. Sorry I can't recall the name but it is the off licence on the right.
Positive experience: Good selection of cafes and eateries. Bright and airy with plenty of space and clean toilets.
Fantastic experience: Well worth a visit. The museum is a treasure throve of emigration information , you can also use your pass to go back and visit again
Fantastic experience: During the lockdown it’s a great place because the hall is considered outdoors while being protected by cold and rain. Many shops inside are open for take away and the CHQ hall has tables and chairs to eat your take out
Positive experience: Nice that this building is still open, food and beverages to take out or sit in the well spaced out eating area. Not the warmest of places so wear a coat
Fantastic experience: Beautiful place to sit down and relax
Positive experience: Didn't go to the museum but there wasn't a whole lot going on here. Only two stores were open a coffee shop and the museum shop which is worth the visit.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic place to visit. Fascinating museum. Very family friendly with everything you might need under one roof. Spotlessly clean, lots of space and great procedures.
Fantastic experience: Really like this place, haven't tried the museum yet, but the public area a great place to grab a coffee and watch the world go by.
Fantastic experience: Spacious, relaxing, great choice.
Positive experience: Epic museum was hugely interesting. You need time to take it all in. While the kids thought it was interesting, they wanted to move through much faster so I didn't get to absorb as much of it as i would have liked
Fantastic experience: A great place with an amazing arhitecture that need to be on your list to Things to see in Dublin. Inside there are a few coffee shops with a huge variety for breakfast and lunch, the tech lab Dogpatch also is one of the Aces of this place. But not forgetting the main atraction of it, The Epic Museum where anyone can enjoy and visualy search their irish heritage. Definetly it is a must to see in a future trip.
Positive experience: Very interesting. A shame some key historical issues were glossed over and selectively presented. But well worth a visit. Some fascinating exhibits.
Fantastic experience: Fabulous! I had only an afternoon for my visit but could have easily spent the day there. So much to read and so clearly presented.
Fantastic experience: Learnt so much of our heritage down through the ages. Fantastic place. Very well laid out and staff very helpful. Highly recommend it.
Positive experience: I like going to the CHQ, on weekends or on off peak hours during the week it's not busy which gives plenty of seating to enjoy nice coffee or lunch. Usually a small art exhibition sometimes at one end, the emigration museum which is great tour. Likely not suitable for everyone but I like that kind of atmosphere.
Fantastic experience: Great building, filled with many of the best lunch places, coffee spots, and restaurants, all among some of the finest clothing shops
Positive experience: Hall with cafes and restaurants - suitable for lunchtime. Recommend toss'd for good value, quantity and consistency.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful place and space! Love how open it is. Haven't been in the museum yet, but I heard rave reviews. Great, relaxing atmosphere..
