Fantastic experience: My grandchildren ages 15 & 8 had an amazing time. Their instructor Gerry was great with them and made the process so easy and such fun. Looking forward to going back again. Top class facility.

Fantastic experience: Awesome fun, everyone should try it

Negative experience: They have a crazy system where you have to do an introduction before you are allowed to use the gym. This is common for some gyms but here you have to pay for it (!) and it’s only once per hour, so you have to wait up to 55 minutes before bouldering.

Positive experience: Well not much to compare because it’s the only gym in town. It’s nice but gets crowdy on a weekend. I wish there were more dynos to practice and get better at it.

Negative experience: I visited this bouldering hall for the first time, being for a work trip in the area. It was quite a disappointment. First the positives: A quite sizeable wall with many routes, nice other people who were climbing. When arriving I had to go through an induction. No problem, I understand that I need to understand any local rules. The problem with it was that it could only be done at 17:00. I arrived at 16:50, so no problem, but someone else was already waiting for more than half an hour to get induced. Then the induction was just a joke: only explaining where the emergency exists were and that you keep distance from each other while climbing. And the worst was that I even had to pay for it (on top of the high entrance fee). Once climbing I did enjoy myself (thanks to some friendly boulderers I teamed up with). There were many routes, but cleaning holds is not a strong points of this venue. The holds were very, very dirty. I didn't look they had been any time recently or even for months. A lot of rubber dust inside pockets, thick layers of chalk on holds. I don't know what kind of plywood was used to build the walls, the spacing of the bolt holes was weird, and the wood around screw holes was also looking quite fibrous and weird. Next time I travel for work to Cork, I won't be bothered to bring my bouldering clothes and shoes...

Negative experience: Would give 0 stars if I could. They take themselves way too seriously. Rock climbing is not rocket science

Positive experience: Lovely climbing gym, nice large set of walls, with two recent island additions for both the rock climbing and rope climbing area. In addition to the walls, there is a nice assortment of some basic gym equipment upstairs (yoga mats, pullup bars, dip bars, resistance bands, and a climbing wall). As you enter, you are greeted by the lovely staff, where you can check in, and rent or buy the equipment you need (shoes, ropes, etc). They also have a nice assortment of foods, and free water out for you. Plenty of bathrooms that are nicely kept, and one stall has a shower if you want it. Recently the price has gone up, but it is still justifiable, especially given the lovely environment. They do also offer a yearly membership, which is appealing once you find out if the place is right for you. For those still deciding, they do have a punch-pass membership, which gives you a few visits for a onetime fee, or a member ship that gives you reduced entry fare and rental fares, for someone who wants to go, but maybe not that often to justify the full monthly costs. Constant music is playing, and everyone there is very supportive of each other, it really is nice. Route setting is now being completed on a section by section basis, instead of the old colour by colour method, so while Routes will be up longer now, at least once a week a new section of wall climbing will be added. Positive experience: Great place for kids to let of steam. Grand niece loved the freedom of running around and building up her skills for climbing and making new friends. Only negative is that the climbing area could do with a good hoovering in between . Lots of food crumbs. Staff are so lovely and friendly.

Positive experience: ✅ • Some good walls, • Changing routes frequently, • Biggest wall in Cork • Great place for children • Good routes to discover climbing and for beginners • Great training space upstairs ❌ • Most of the staff isn’t really responsive nor trained (not their fault but still), • The price for 1 person is too expensive (70€/month) • The induction price is ridiculously high for what it really is : describing the room in 15 minutes….. Imo it should be free as it is for safety reasons and only last 15minutes • You can’t have an induction for everything (lead and boulder) at once. You need to do the bouldering one first, and then the lead, and pay for both • The overall difficulty isn’t really high. Maximum v6 / 7a Briefly, it’s a lot about money, mainly because there are almost no other climbing gyms in Cork. Out of all the gyms I’ve been to (Ireland, Japan, France), this is by far the most expensive one for the experience they offer. If they could just get the price down or make more sense with the induction, it would be for the best.

Negative experience: Awesome Walls needs to work with their insurance provider to make a guest's experience more pleasant. Upon arriving we had to wait 1 hour for an "Induction" before we could start climbing. The setting is also very soft. The hardest problem in the gym felt V6. And the gym uses the hold colors for each grade range, which severely limits the creatively of route setters.

Fantastic experience: We go to "Little Rebels" It is next to awesome walls . It is a play area for kids , with big slides and a huge. playarea

Fantastic experience: Paid a visit to Awesome Walls Cork today for a climbing taster session with my two girls (aged 11 and 8). It was our first time climbing and what a fantastic experience we had! Thanks to our lovely patient & encouraging instructor Carla and to Cillian, Filip & Jean Marc for looking after our booking at the front desk. Highly recommend Awesome Walls Cork for kids (and big kids) over the summer holidays. A great way to spend an afternoon together - for kids and parents, trying a new & very enjoyable sport. We will be back before school starts!

Fantastic experience: We don't have anything like Awesome walls in Ballincollig to entertain kids of all ages and all disabilities. There used to be Super Nova but that's gone. This place is awesome

Fantastic experience: Great amenity in Cork - especially for young people! Certainly a fun way to exercise and stay fit, outside a conventional gym! Walls are challenging for all based on defined level and should fit the needs of everyone, in a given group! Frequently changed walls as well and they've recently maximised the bouldering space, by adding additional bouldering walls in what was previously a dead area for seating! Ultimately, best experienced with a small group of friends!

The instructor Tommy was absolutely fabulous with the kids, he was so patient and friendly and explained things so well to them. It was my daughter’s first time climbing and she loved it. Fantastic experience: Lovely staff who greet you and he'll you with what you need. They give a detailed overview of the facility and what it offers. They are attentive and nice. I like the variety of levels available. I've only gone bouldering so that's what I can comment on. They changed the routes enough and have challenges and completions happening regularly. Really casual and welcoming atmosphere with other climbers. There are two couch areas where you can relax and meet other climbers and take a break. The facility offers some drinks for sale, as well as tea and hot chocolate, and snacks and muffins. The facility also includes lockers, but bring your own lock if you want to lock it. There's a workout space upstairs away from the walls where you can do any kind of exercise, and they include a lot of climber-specific things. Also weights, two stationary bikes, foam rollers, and exercise mats. Of course they also have climbing gear for sale and rent. I recommend going in the day if possible, if you like a quieter climb. Naturally, there are more people in the evening. Everyone is respectful. I think for some it might be a pricier activity, but if you're a regular climber it's worth it (either subscription or monthly subscription). If you give them a call , they're helpful and can explain it all. Make sure to call before your first visit so you can get booked in for an induction visit.

Negative experience: Baiscall you cant do anything unless you aint 18. If your legal guardian is there you can so baiscally a small 7 year old can go there and injure themself and/or die but teenagers over 16 can‘t? And they also want 18€ each +20€ thats 38€ only for 1 hour +instructure. Totally not worth it

Fantastic experience: I had a lot of fun here with a veraty iif options including bouldering top rope and lead the people there are very nice and freind overall there is a great atmosphere and would recomend it to anyone there are even classes for kids that are thought by good climbers and instructor that put safety first but still being able to make it fun and helping you progress (speaking from experience) this reveiw may sound like it was done by a bot but I can assure you this is a real person that was just very happy with the sport and the support.

Fantastic experience: I've been out of Cork for a while and I was really happy to learn that there is a large climbing center in Cork city during my latest visit home. They have a great selection of bouldering walls and have a fair few top-roping and lead climbing walls and some auto-belays too. They cater very well to beginner and mid-level climbers. It also has a good training area and a moon board. Great place!

Positive experience: Excellent facility for bouldering (we didn't do the roping). The only slightly annoying point is the amount of paperwork you have to sign before you can actually start; it's ok to spend that much time for full membership I guess, but if you're there just for a session it really takes too much time (I think we spent a good 30 to 45 minutes before we could actually start climbing). Apart from that, excellent place.

Fantastic experience: My granddaughter and her friend went here for a birthday, just the two of them, she said it was the best birthday she ever had!!! Josh that name was said allot, in a good way!! Negative experience: On the May bank holiday Monday, I did not appreciate a small millennial man shouting at me to get back in the gym to supervise my children. My wife was inside with the teenagers, but you need two parents for three teenagers, and if you don't make this ratio, at all times, you can be shouted at by a little man. Not my best climbing experience. The gym itself is tired, the routes have not been changed since before Christmas, the staff need to be trained in dealing with the ‘customers’.

Fantastic experience: Fabulous facility for people of all ages. Children's parties catered for and they love if. Very friendly helpful staff. It's possible to do solo climbing with the self rappelling units.

Positive experience: I'm a fairly experienced climber, went bouldering there, staff were sound and gave me some knowledge about the putdoor climbing in the area, but I dont have to be inducted or anything as already a member of these gyms (which seems to be in most reviews here). The setting is pretty good to be fair, interesting movments in routes but I would say the grading is more focused on the low end and a little soft. I think it would be a good place to start but if your more of a 7A climber then the moonboard is the godsend, deducted 1 star as a few small changes would have made a huge difference to how much you can really train at this gym.

Fantastic experience: I have been to Awesome Walls about 150 times in the last two years with my teenage daughter.I started bouldering in my fifties here and have met an incredible range of people. There is a massive variety of challenges that are changed on a regular basis. The staff are great and very friendly and knowledgeable. The only thing to note is you have to do a bouldering induction before you can go in without an instructor but once this is done then off you go. I would highy recommend to people of any age to come along. The monthly rate is great value if you climb twice a week

Positive experience: Kids loved it. Really unprofessional staff at the desk. Was booked in for 2pm. Got there a little early and was ignored by a woman who spent all her time talking to friends about the weekend. Another man was on the phone. Two different 'workers' came from the back and looked at me standing,waiting. I put my hand up to call one of them but both walked back in the back. The man on the phone acknowledged me briefly but when he came off the phone he walked away without saying anything. Finally,I was seen by someone and asked to go sit down and wait till someone came to take me in. By this time even my son's commented on how bad it all was. Now,after 2pm myself and kids were getting annoyed so I went to the desk to explain that we were booked in for 2pm and had been waiting a long time. I was told to sit down and someone will be with me. About 2.10pm,finally someone came out and went through safety with my son's while putting on their equipment. I had to tell him,I have also paid do do the climbing,he didn't know. Tho,when we finally got into the climbing walls,the person with us,( I think his name was Dennis), was very friendly and helpful. Way more professional,explained everything and gave alot of encouragement to my son's. He also let us stay on a little longer to make up the hour we paid for. Out of seven different people I dealt with on the day,he would have been the only person there that,on my opinion was friendly and welcoming. I feel that it's who you know and what friends you have there on how welcome you are. Extremely disappointed as a first timer. Although my son's did enjoy the actual climbing.

Negative experience: Very unhelpful for dropping in. I came by, I’m an experienced-enough climber and was told without pre-booking I would need to wait almost two hours to be certified by an instructor. For bouldering. In 5+ years of climbing in gyms in a half dozen countries, by far the most unfriendly and unhelpful welcome I’ve ever had.

Negative experience: We drove three hours from Dublin for the Irish bouldering league competition. We had previously registered with Awesome Walls Dublin. We assumed this would be sufficient, but you have to book for induction at each individual center 48 hours in advance. It does not say this on the website. No slots for registration for a bouldering only induction when we got there and no room for a quick induction by staff. I will not be returning to this or any awesome walls center because they wasted 6 hours of drive time to tell us that you had to book 48 hours in advance, again a timeframe not specified ANYWHERE on the website that I could find.

Fantastic experience: Occasion was a kids party and the group enjoyed their time on the walls. Room for the party was clean and effective and staff were helpful and pleasant. Cost was acceptable for number involved.

Fantastic experience: Awesome Walls is such an amazing place, I supervise a group of 14 kids, on a voluntary basis and we visit Awesome Walls every Saturday and each time we learn something new and further progress our climbing, rope and belaying skills. My group is so excited for Saturday to arrive each week so they can climb. The staff is absolutely amazing and our instructors are the absolute best. Great Job Awesome Walls Team!

Fantastic experience: We recently hosted our twin sons' 10th birthday at Awesome Walls. The children loved the climbing walls and really enjoyed their morning there, which was action packed! The staff are very accommodating and friendly and the food provided for the party which consisted of pizza and chips was tasty, well made and enjoyed by alI. I would definitely recommend Awesome Walls as a party venue. We're looking forward to our next visit. The boys are very eager to return!

Fantastic experience: I’m new to the experience and let me start by saying for someone that never did rock climbing this is just perfect! They make you feel welcome and answered every single question you could have for this sport.
