During the trips our customers will learn about the history and the unique skill of rowing a Naomhóg. It is a unique way to experience the customs and traditions of Dingle and imagine how our ancestors survived in this harsh but spectacular landscape.
It is our intention to fundraise for the club, and therefore we are now running the Dingle Rowing Experience tour. The tour aims to showcase the Naomhóg to visitors and locals alike, travel back in time, learn and experience a traditional Naomhóg and experience Dingle Harbour in a unique cultural way!Â
A Naomhóg is a type of boat unique to the west coasts of Ireland. Traditionally the Naomhóg has a wooden frame over which animal skins or hides are stretched. These days, the wooden frame is covered in canvas which is then painted with tar to make it waterproof.

Dingle Rowing Club: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Great fun for our entire family (ages 12-78).
Fantastic experience: I booked a 90 minute rowing excursion for 2 families of 3. Both Karen and Bavin (I hope I spelled your names correctly!) were amazing guides! They gave us a little history on rowing in Dingle, how the boats are made and even helped our little guys fish with a hand line. I highly recommend this company!
Fantastic experience: They offer visitors a rare authentic experience of a traditional row boat used for generations to navigate the waters of kerry. You get an experienced and knowledgeable local rower and generally some youth members of the club to do the heavy lifting on the boat. They offer good value and the money goes to help the youth club thrive.
Fantastic experience: We had a great time rowing together with our competent guides from the Dingle Rowing Club, visiting ‚Fungi‘ the dolphin. A very special memory is what we take from this experience. Can highly recommend to add this to your to-do list when visiting Dingle.
Fantastic experience: 6 of us did the traditional Irish rowing today and it was a blast. Only an hour long tour and cheap enough for the tour. All money goes to the rowing club and helping teach young rowers. Monza (rowing champ extrodinare) was our guide. Super informative. I highly recommend doing this tour dor some traditional Irish culture!
Fantastic experience: Thank you Maunza for a lovely row yesterday, great to be on the water in Dingle bay. Very informative. Thank you, Martyn. (Poole gig rowing club) P.s. And we got to see Funghi as well.
Fantastic experience: Three over fifties looking for something a bit off the wall, rowing in a traditional naomhog caught our fancy. Slightly apprehensive it would be too physical for us, we were soon put at ease by Karen, our guide, who showed patience, knowledge and great humour in brinking us up around the mouth of Dingle Bay and back. Okay, we all missed strokes but in general, things went very well and it is surprising how fast these boats glide through the water. Any time we wanted to rest, we could, which actually wasn't too often. Karen also told us about the local area and pointed out places of interest.Went up near the lighthouse and the Towereen Ban and got to see Fungi as an added bonus. Really good value for money and something I'd definitely do again
