The Westgrove Hotel

Negative experience: Cancelled my husband’s 50th celebration last minute….got a phone call from the events manager on the day of the celebration at 12 noon to cancel the event which was due to start at 8pm. I booked this event a month in advance, received 2 emails of confirmation (one was 2 days before the event) and was told they double booked it with people staying in the hotel who take priority. Was offered ‘The Library’ area which doesn’t have a bar…not much of a party!!! The attitude of this lady (events manager) was appalling, essentially telling me the other party are spending more money cause they are staying & eating in the hotel.

Positive experience: When I got to my room it was freezing the heating wasn't turned on I tried to get food as I booked in after work about 8.30 by the time I got downstairs Kitchen was shut I tried to order room service they said they didn't have room service what hotel doesn't have room service the receptionist on the desk looked like she was just out of a horror movie not a pretty sight for someone checking into a hotel the bed was comphy I had breakfast basic nothing to write home about the big plus was my work paid for the hotel I wouldn't be back and pay myself definitely disappointed

Positive experience: Quiet, well appointed rooms. While I fully endorse climate saving measures, a bit of a contradiction to turn OFF heating in the middle of the night yet, despite signage requesting we hang towels for re-use, service still reclaims them for laundry. Likely related, when the heat is turned off only warm/hot water comes out of the taps.

Fantastic experience: Hotel : decor was nice, lots of seating area outside of your room if you wanted to get out of the room for a bit for a chat or what ever, on the first and second floor. Room was huge , bed was massive, bathroom was nice , shower head could use a bit of TLC but it was good other wise Oak Bar : I got the Hake and chips it was unreal, batter crispy, with lots of fish inside not just all batter, chips were chunky and with a few crispy bits. (8.6/10)

Fantastic experience: The barman "Tom" is the reason I am writing this review. He was fantastic. He knew my tables drinks order after the second time of asking in a room with over 100 guests. He was warm and energetic and is a credit to the hotel. All the staff were fantastic and friendly while we stayed, but Tom deserves a special mention.

Fantastic experience: We had our wedding in the Westgrove hotel at the end of September 2025. We had the best day ever with the help of the staff at the Westgrove! From the day we booked it everyone has been so helpful but especially Lydia and Lorna who were always there to answer any questions we had. All our guests are talking about how amazing the food and drinks were at the drinks reception and how much there was. The meal was perfect so much food available they even offered alternatives for people who didn’t like what was on the menu. It was so efficient with the help of Bonnie and all the staff. During the meal they played music in the ballroom which was such a nice touch and added so much to the atmosphere of the evening. The bar staff on the night were brilliant and kept up with a busy crowd. All in all the vibe in the Westgrove hotel is unmatched. Everyone is so relaxed and amazing at their jobs which means our day just flowed smoothly, once we drove through them gates we didn’t have to worry about anything they had everything under control!

Negative experience: Extremely unprofessional, rude, and aggressive behavior from the staff.

Positive experience: Rooms were spacious and clean but not 4 star. Breakfast was tasty but again not 4 star. Location was strange.

Positive experience: Could be a fantastic venue but needs more attention to attract the customes to come back.

Negative experience: Stayed in the Westgrove hotel to attend a wedding -I don’t think I would return. Rooms - ok, but could do with modernising. We had to change room as the road noise at the front of the hotel was quite instrusive. The tvs are ancient and not smart, so no Netflix etc, actually there were no channels period. For a four star family friendly hotel this is not acceptable. Service - ok, bar area was not great with no atmosphere. I had one pint of Guinness there which was very poor and poured correctly. Poor service also and quirks badly managed. Food - we did not eat here but all I can say is the breakfast was disgusting. A small little hatch serving hot food, when I was there there was literally 10 sausages and 2 or three rashers. Poor service and very cheap food. Avoid the breakfast and perhaps visit one of the locals cafes instead. Leisure centre - good - no issues for what it was and the girl on who worked there was pleasant and helpful. The pool temperature was pleasant and the changing rooms were fine. There was no shower gel in any shower though and you literally get 5 seconds of water for every push. General Hotel - when we stayed the power went at least three times in one day which is absolutely ridiculous. It even happened during the best man speech which is simply unacceptable. The Wedding food was cheap to be honest, the main meals were just about acceptable but the evening food was absolutely vile.The lifts also failed so all elderly people and pregnant women had to use the stairs, crazy. I actually had to help and lady who nearly fainted going up to the third floor. No apology or explanation given by the hotel. We paid €165 for the Thursday and €210 for the Friday. Just worth mentioning that the drinks prices here are an absolute rip off. When you take all of the above into consideration the hotel does definitely not warrant a four star rating - in ANY area. I didn’t think I would stay again and as others have said I’d probably rate the hotel as a 3 star at best. All in all a rather mediocre if not poor experience.

Positive experience: Nice comfortable beds, very clean. Leisure facilities good, nice sized pool with steam room and jacuzzi. No sauna. Room numbers a bit confusing but we found it eventually. Large spacious common areas around the hotel.

Fantastic experience: Amazing hotel and amazing staff we had our wedding here and couldn’t ask for a better place truly special and really made our day and weekend so amazing and our guest felt so welcome

This was our second year holding the awards at The Westgrove, and once again, the team completely exceeded our expectations. Every single detail was thought of — from the warm welcome to the smooth running of the night — nothing was ever too much trouble. The small touches throughout the evening really stood out and added so much to the overall atmosphere, showing just how much pride and care the team put into everything they do. The staff were professional, attentive, and genuinely friendly, which made the entire night run seamlessly. Our guests were so impressed, and the feedback we’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive — a true credit to the venue and the people behind it. Fantastic experience: Was there for my daughters wedding. Everything went smoothly staff were brilliant and attentive couldn't recommend highly enough for anyone considering it as a wedding venue.

Fantastic experience: I've taken one star away the staff in the breakfast room are poorly trained and the man serving the hot food in at the buffet is very rude and gives out miserable portions.

Fantastic experience: It was an absolute privilege to celebrate our wedding at the westgrove hotel , from start to finish our journey was amazing , Lorna and Lydia are the most incredible wedding coordinators, they made our journey one we will never forget. From the general manger Bonnie who is so accommodating and kind, to the catering staff especially Nina and James you all made our day so special with your kindness. The food was expatational everyone is still talking about.We will cherish this day forever because of everyone at the Westgrove Hotel. If you are looking for a wedding venue honestly I cant recommend these enough i viewed many other venues and this one reach above our expectations for our day. Positive experience: I recently stayed at this hotel for a few nights and had a wonderful experience. It’s a beautiful, spacious property with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the stay even more enjoyable. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. I also noticed it’s a popular destination for weddings, which speaks to the hotel’s charm and appeal. With excellent amenities and plenty of nearby attractions, it’s a great choice for both relaxation and special occasions.

Positive experience: Very friendly and efficient staff. Bedroom is a little tired and I need of revamping.

Negative experience: Booked family meal for 3pm got there and was told we had to be finished by half 3. The Sunday Carvery was cold absolutely disgusting. As soon as we left the carvery they closed the shutters couldn't believe it. We didn't even have time to settle down. The roast potatoes were disgusting rock hard. The mash potatoes were powered potatoes, the vegetables well there was no words, the gravy shocking. Everyone of us wasted their food. My husband picked up mustard which was 5 months out of date. We did get the money back for my husband's meal. When we booked the meal we thought lovely family get together and the hotel looks lovely from the outside, but the restaurant was shocking. Will never set foot through the door again. Don't waste your money booking a meal fuming isn't the word.

Fantastic experience: Went to the WestGrove for my Birthday. 19/12/24 . We went to Reception and got the most welcome you can received. Then my self & my friend Sandra went to the bar. The Restaurant ❤️ Manger Jamie was so helpful in every possible. He went out of his way for us. The treatment we got was perfect. We got Lunch the food was well presented and Amazing. The Chef cooked such lovely food. loved it. If you ever want to go to WestGrove I Recommend it . ❤️❤️

Positive experience: Bit dated hotel but great service, some tips could be to have water and body lotion in the time, clean scuff marks on the walls and better lighting in the corridors on 3rd floor. But tasty food and great service.

Negative experience: Avoid this Hotel Customer service non-existent I've called twice Sent 6 emails and still have heard nothing from management. Room are ok Food mediocre Staff trying to multi task which causes massive delays Waited 10/15 twice for our drinks orders Half the group were finished their mains while the other half hadn't even received there main yet ( 15/20 min delay on food ) Complaint to staff at time it fell on deaf ears The day after check out a payment for 295 euro tried to be taken from account for a room that had already cancelled. Had to call the hotel and ask no payment be taken. I've called and sent emails and I've still received no correspondence from the westgrove management.

Positive experience: Everything perfect bar breakfast room..... Arrived there at 09.25 and every single table full of dirty dishes....... Only 2 staff on....deffo needed more...... Had to ask re hot food etc as served from next room..... Everybody continually asking for tea....toast....butter.....cups etc etc...

Negative experience: Every time I come here for food it gets worse and worse. Picture attached is the expensive "Hot joint sandwich of the day". I gave it back to the server laughing at how bad it was. I'd get a better sandwich for 4e in a spar. Pull yourselves together folks, your food is laughably bad.

Fantastic experience: Great stay from begininng to end. We booked our room with Amanda from reservations who was so helpful. Our room was bright and spacious with a very comfortable bed - we both had a great night of sleep. The staff were all so attentive and friendly - Barbora served our dinner and was great. The food was incredible - we had a 3 course meal with our package and there was lots of choice and everything was to a very high standard - very impressed! We had a spa treatment the next day and Kelly was so pleasant to deal with - she was very helpful advising on treatments before we arrived and so lovely when we were in there. We also went for a swim and the pool was ideal - there were a few other people using it but there's plenty of space and it's a nice bright pool area. We were gutted we had only booked for one night and can't wait to get back - we're based in Dublin so it's only a short drive for a very worthwhile break.

Fantastic experience: Amazing staff. Check in was slow tho, they were full the night previously which is fine but 3.45pm was checking in was a bit annoying, other than that couldn't fault anything, food,staff,facilities were all very good. Well done. There was a strange thing tho. I booked a room for the night with a 3 course meal package. We walked up to the restaurant and a customer was in front of me (not a staying guest) they scanned her covid passport and they said unfortunately you haven't had your second jab more than 7 days prior so u will have to dine outside....then when I walked up to book my table, they checked my room number they said yeah go ahead table here in the restaurant...so just because I paid for a room for the night I'm immune from sitting outside?. Is it just as bad as the 9€ meal before, u can go to have a drink as long as u pay for a 9€ meal. I Don't think a paying guest has any difference to any1 who just walks in off the street for something to eat.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I went to the Westgrove Hotel for dinner. On arrival, we were greeted by the Manager who really went out of his way to show us the menu and then to show us to our table. The wine list is superb, the Food Menu has something for everyone and the service is exceptional. Our food was absolutely fantastic and the staff were polite and very efficient. Cannot recommend this restaurant more highly. Location is great, lots of parking and the ambiance is superb. Well done and thank you.

Positive experience: Pros - Good size bed, nice breakfast, clean room. Cons - Room was absolutely freezing, radiator barely got warm. If you’re thinking about eating in the Oak restaurant located in the hotel I wouldn’t waste my money there again. Awful food for such a high price.

Fantastic experience: Had such a nice time staying at the Westgrove recently. The room was fabulous, we upgraded to a suite. The hotel food was really nice and catered well for the kids. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed swims in the pool and lounging and its the perfect spot to do both. Lovely seating area under current restrictions outside. Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed my stay here. The reception is beautifully designed. The room I stayed in with my partner was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was lovely too. Also it smelled great. My only wish was that the window was a big bigger for the money paid but the view over Clane was beautiful so a very small issue. The breakfast was great. The staff were lovely. I would like to try some more of their facilities next time. Also great location, it's so handy being so close to a SuperValu in case you need anything.

Fantastic experience: Myself and my friend got the “Girly Getaway” and it was amazing! The room was beautiful and the food was so tasty. The service was fantastic and the staff were so warm and friendly. I special thank you to Awa and Kate who looked after us especially well and made the stay extra special. I would definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: Hotel is a very well designed spacious, clean and well decorated hotel with great access available making easy to connect from either car park. The roomed apartment are very spacious good with seperate living room and kitchen warm and comfortable due to COVID-19 most of the hotel is still not open so I can not comment on the other facilities of the hotel.

Fantastic experience: Needed their services during covid while attending a funeral. They could do no more for me and my wife, as they were very friendly, sympathetic and professional. The rooms were well sterilised, clean, comfortable and bright. Well done.

Fantastic experience: Very nice hotel with nice amenities and large rooms. We stayed here for our visit to Dublin. It wasn't an ideal location, but maybe a 45 minute drive to downtown. The breakfast had a nice variety. We didn't eat at the restaurant or bar for lunch or dinner. They were in the process of remodeling the outside entrance during our stay, but still, very nice.

Fantastic experience: we got married here recently and we can not say anything bad about the hotel. the rooms were amazing, large & clean. And every member of staff from reception, bar staff, even the cleaners were so nice and helpful to everyone of us not just the bride and groom. Helen the wedding coordinator was amazing through all the planning and every question or idea we had was always met with a smile or no problem. Juan the manager was amazing and made sure everything went so smoothly on the day! and a special recommendation to Ryan from the bar who went out of his way over our 2 days to make sure every person had what they needed and were been looked after

The staff, receptionist, restaurant staff, bar staff, accommodation staff are a credit to this hotel. We will definitely return.. All in all a perfect experience

Fantastic experience: We got a cracking deal from the Hotel for a Sunday night. Great rooms + kids club. Nice staff. Our youngest left her teddy in the room and the reception staff were extremely helpful getting the bear back which ended up in an external laundry in a different town. Couldn't say better for this hotel and top notch staff
