Holyrood Hotel

Fantastic experience: We booked one night here. We checked in at 8pm yesterday and we have great sleep in the super comfortable bed. The reception gave us room 165. Thank you, it is lovely one. The bathroom is bigger in size from other hotels - eg Crowne Plaza range. It is family run hotel, can feel the hotel owner makes tremendous effort and it shines in its role. It is classic hotel. It is cosy and well thought in its own way. Highly recommended. Kudos to everyone in Holyrood hotel.

Negative experience: Very bad experience here. The room was dark. The main light wasn't working. The windows were not clean. Was kept awake with the leaking gutters and the perspex roof. The view from the window was a wall. The breakfast was not what you would expect for a 4 star hotel. Food was tepid and not tasty.

Fantastic experience: Called with husband 24th August evening for light bite as Bundoran bustling as bank holiday weekend. Was met at the door by lovely young man who directed us to food area, then Katie (South African) was so pleasant and sorted us out with table and food. I listened to her meet/greet lots of people as they arrived like us with no booking. All staff were happy ‘ professional even though extremely busy. Well done to Management/staff for a great experience, lovely food and so comfortable.

Negative experience: Had 2 nights booked costing €460. Paid €100 deposit. Unfortunately day before we were ment to go one off kids got sick. I called hotel to explain we couldn’t go and I was told would have to book different 2 nights so I wouldn’t lose my deposit. I tried to book 2 different nights and I was flexible with dates. I was told they had no availability so I said I would call back and book some other time.when I got off the phone checked booking.com I found they had availability and money had gone from my account.. I was charged €100 deposit and €130 for 1 nights stay. I’m not one to leave a review but the way I was treated on the phone by manager was appalling.

Negative experience: Myself,hubby and daughter stayed at this hotel on Sunday 10th August,the girl behind the reception wasn't friendly (roisin), room wasn't ready to check into until 4 o'clock,u have to booked the swimming pool,then we went into the bar to get food,was told there was three family's booked in before us,we decided to have a drink while we waited,I then asked the bar man when did they stop serving food ,he say 20 mins ago,they had forgotten about us,got no food,very disappointed to be honest,and then no children after 9.30 in the bar, so had to get a chippy,

Fantastic experience: Hi just back from a lovely stay in bundoran during our stay we ate in waterfront bar and grill every day and the food was amazing the staff were lovely especially Martin who was a fantastic waiter friendly helpful and efficient and wonderful at his job nothing was too much bother for him they are lucky too have him and we were lucky too have him as our waiter

Positive experience: staff were friendly,ordered food that had nuts in it that weren't on the menu,when I brought this up the chef said its in the allergens, it should state on the menu with ingredients not in the small print, my pasta carbonara was sour,we didn't eat it but we're still charged which was disappointing. we ordered a deluxe double which we didn't get even though we were told it was, luckily there was a single bed to as my partner had to sleep in it as the double bed was too small. pool not the best small and felt dirty, steam room and sauna were moved to the treatment rooms so have to pay extra to use them.

Positive experience: Un pò vecchiotto ma pulito. Bellissima piscina con jacuzzi e una spa di cui non abbiamo potuto usufruire perché chiude alle 17. Comodo parcheggio sul retro gratuito. Camere con letto King comodissimo.

Fantastic experience: This is my 3rd visit this yr so far,on every occasion we were greeted at reception by lovely friendly sarvanna(I think that's how she spells her name) our rm was ready on each occasion. Ate in grill bar,beautiful well presented and delicious food.the hotel was clean and comfortable, my room was beautiful gorgeous views.we couldn't get tv to work,called reception, within 5 mins staff arrived to fix it,again friendly chatty Mr Russell and another lady with him.breafast service was efficient and tasty,good portions.we haven't used the spa so I can't comment on that.well done to all hard working staff,hope to return ASAP thankyou all

Negative experience: Stayed there as part of a group for a birthday. It was one of the most disappointing experiences. Hotel is far too warm. The bar area in particular. Multiple guests complained about the heat and asked for it to be turned down and we were told it wasn’t possible. You had to take any jumpers etc off just so you weren’t sweating. Rooms were terribly warm also. Had to turn radiator off as soon as we got in to the room and opened the window but it didn’t do anything. No air conditioning as well for a four star hotel? I’ve stayed in many 3* that have air conditioning. Matress on the bed was very worn as well and very squishy when you lay down. No shower mat also and floor was incredibly slippy when you got out of the shower . Our cold water in the shower also wasn’t working. When you went to reception one member of staff seemed to be incredibly busy and couldn’t serve you properly!. Some of the staff were absolutely lovely like the bar people and ladies in spa. Others were very rude to us as a group.very blunt and short with us when asked a simple question. Food was lovely I will say that although breakfast was a let down. On our second morning we weren’t given any toast with our full Irish and staff too busy running around to see us trying to call them over . Asked for a cappuccino and told “ we only serve coffee or tea” .. again this is a 4* hotel. Our dinner was very nice but very annoyed at the bad service. Some of us got the steak which was an extra €12 which was fine. But what wasn’t fine was the lady coming over to us with the card machine as we were not even half way through dessert!. Couldn’t she have waited until we were finished eating?. Also started hovering the floor near us as we ate dessert?. This was around 8.30pm. we asked them to bring out the birthday cake after dessert and instead they brought it out just as we were served dessert resulting in some of us missing the cake due to being in the toilet .our package was for 4 courses I got three . Asked for a peppermint tea after dessert and never got it . Staff just magically disappeared . The ladies in the spa were absolutely lovely but I do feel having to pay extra to rent a robe and slippers is a bit much also having to pay extra to use the jacuzzi but it’s free in the leisure centre ?. A lot of the policy doesn’t make sense and it feels like it’s just to get extra money out of people .

Fantastic experience: We were in Bundoran for a concert and visited The Holyrood Hotel for a few drinks afterwards. I have to say the staff were very welcoming and efficient. Friendly without being intrusive. Will definitely be back

Fantastic experience: After visiting Bundoran for years, we are always looking for new things to do and decided to treat ourselves to a spa experience. We got a very warm welcome and shown to beautiful changing facilities. Hot tub and sauna were great before we were treated to a truly relaxing one hour treatment. Both therapists were very professional at what they do. Lovely relaxation room at the end with the nice touch of herbal tea. Will be back when we return.

Fantastic experience: A second stay at the Holyrood and had a marvellous stay. Staff amazing, food excellent and the location in the middle of the town makes life so easy for those with mobility issues. Looking forward to heading back for a couple of nights very soon, Katherine x

Fantastic experience: From the minute we came to on the third day we left staff food management rooms food all excellent.. Would highly recommend this hotel. We had a seafront room what a view. The staff couldn't do enough for us. Brian and Sean the owners came over to talk to us on numerous occasions. Will definitely be back

Fantastic experience: Booked a massage and facial in the escape spa and beauty and it was AMAZING Well worth the money and felt very relaxed afterwards I highly recommend anyone who is staying in the hotel to avail of this service! Also want to say a shout out to Chelsea the girl who done my massage it was great :)

The girls made us feel so welcome and comfortable, and asked us spesfic questions to tailor our massages. the experience was so relaxing and a really nice atmosphere was created for us. Would highley reccomended.

Fantastic experience: I travelled with the Corr group I asked for a room close to the lift as I am elderly and I also wanted to be close to the rest if the family, that's exactly what I got, the service and food was delicious, the staff were very helpful and curtious, I really enjoyed my stay and above a I felt safe as regards covid as all measures were adhered to. Fantastic experience: Stayed at the Holywood Hotel a few days ago, I have to say it was by far the best holiday and stay i had been on, from the staff being so friendly they went out of there way to help us and the cleanliness of the hotel to the food was all 100% I couldn't fault there service and hospitality, we also had the seaweed bath which was amazing felt great after it if there was 1p stars i would score the whole experience 10 out of 10 we will definitely be back great hospitality

Fantastic experience: We had a lovely few days in the Holyrood Hotel with family. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was spotless and our room was spacious with a modern bathroom. The food in both restaurant and bar was tasty and there was a great atmosphere as we relaxed listening to the live music in the evenings. The children loved the kids club and we all enjoyed using the pool. Great location, great service and we have already booked our next stay.

Fantastic experience: We took advantage of the September sizzler two nights B&B one evening meal and twenty minutes Spa package. Room was very clean. Spa was fantastic. I had a head shoulders and neck massage and was completely relaxed afterwards. Pool was very clean and much better than some more expensive hotels I've stayed in. Food was amazing with very attentive and friendly staff. Hungarian guy was lovely and friendly. Reception staff very knowledgeable. Great that the hotel has their own car park. First time staying in Bundoran for a long time but definately will be back. Live music in the bar at night. Everything you need under one roof amazing 5*****

Fantastic experience: Not had a break for years. First impression was the Spacious and comfortable reception area, waiting staff pleasant and Communicative. Room was clean, beds comfortable, linen soft and white. Breakfast hot and served with pleasant staff. Evening meal of 4 courses was excellent The Chef is to be praised. Positive experience: Went here for break with partners family. Stayed for 2 nights. Room was great (shower is a bit small for taller people) the bar was great and the food was lovely however the only issue my and my partner had was the difficulty of getting served at the restaurant I understand that it is a family hotel but given we were sitting away from the family and the children we didn't get the service we would have liked. The only time we got amazing service was when seated with the children

Fantastic experience: Lovely food great cocktails and brilliant live music. Amazing staff even tho they are extremely busy and have some shocking rude inpatient customers to deal with while serving us, they were still smiling and polite while serving us. I work in customers care and don't think I could have dealt with the abuse they received as well as they did. Amazing job tonight guys thank you.

Fantastic experience: Is there a separate review forum for the Escape Spa? There should be. I can't comment on the hotel itself as I didn't stay but the Spa was excellent. After my first treatment with Dominque I had to come back each day of my trip. Can't wait to go back for more!. Very well recommended

The staff and everyone involved are very friendly and given the current global situation feel that they have adapted very well in creating a lively holiday atmosphere. Fantastic experience: Had a great weekend here with the kids. Staff were very helpful and always nice, rooms were very spacious and comfortable, food was delicious and prompt and the entertainment was fantastic. The weather was horrible when we went but it didn't matter as everything we needed was in the hotel. The kids activities and entertainment was brilliant the hotel went out of there way to make sure the kids had the time of there life so much so my kids didn't want to leave. We will be back again and again.
