Fantastic experience: Fabulous hotel, beautiful grounds but staff in restaurant are not always as attentive as they should be

Fantastic experience: We loved the service and facilities of this hotel. The room is clean and spacious. Parking space is safe and accessible. Swimming pool is clean, including jacuzzi, sauna, steam, and they provide towels. Gym is amazing. Breakfast is fantastic with variety of food to choose from. Dinner is brilliant as well. The room temperature is fantastic. Customer service is absolutely great, they answer phone calls and email you with detailed information. I recommend this hotel and definitely will come back again.

Fantastic experience: From start to finish, my recent stay at this hotel was absolute perfection. I booked a package that included a spa treatment, use of the thermal suite, a delicious two-course dinner, and an overnight stay and every element exceeded expectations.The room was beautifully presented and spotless, making it easy to unwind the moment I arrived. The room had bottled water, an nespresso and a very large bathroom The staff truly stood out with their warm, attentive service,nothing was too much trouble, and every interaction felt genuine and personal.I loved wandering the hotel’s scenic grounds, which were ideal for a peaceful stroll before enjoying some serious relaxation in the spa. The thermal suite offered the perfect atmosphere to switch off, and my treatment was both professional and deeply rejuvenating, leaving me feeling totally refreshed. Dinner was an absolute highlight, both courses perfectly presented and full of flavour. The calm, inviting vibe throughout the hotel made the whole experience feel special.Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with impeccable service, stunning surroundings, and pure comfort from beginning to end. Positive experience: Overall ok, location is in the middle of nowhere, but specious room. Our view was awful but we paid a deal price B&B and a main course. Considering to 4 stars hotel no slippers and gowns. We didn’t have enough time to attend the pool cause we were told there was only one slot left for dinner 17:30, when we arrived and even an hour later restaurant was basically empty, it was first downside, food was good but very salty, vegetables were half cooked but we thought maybe it was per plan, didn’t have ingredients for the cocktail I ordered so had to get a different one. We had music on in the room but not too loud, we are sensible couple, we were asked by reception to turn it off, someone reported us, it was second and third downside. Overall our experience was not great, majority of customers were in their 60 -70’s.

Positive experience: Went for food into bar recently...food was good but sadly very slow service from kitchen, one lady had walked out disappointed, table was sticky to touch and had to ask for cutlery when food had arrived...staff seemed under pressure which is sad as hotel has a great reputation.

Positive experience: Tldr - 3 star services for 4 star prices. I'd advise to stay elsewhere as your mileage can warry... The hotel is clean, well looked after and in a lovely location, the hotel itself is rather soulless and stingy and charge you for every little thing. We stayed to celebrate a birthday and they wouldn't even arrange a simple birthday card or a single chocolate left in the room as a gesture, despite being aware of the occasion. Then we had to argue that we already paid in full for the spa access when attempting to charge us more.

Fantastic experience: The room was nice, small bit plain but comfy and a bath. Our dinner in Fredericks restaurant however was delicious. We had the slow cooked beef and the sea bass - both were incredible. The manager who greeted us to seat us was so lovely and clearly very good to her staff. We were served by Misha, such a sweetheart, I believe she was new but you wouldn’t have known, extremely courteous and professional. Rian who took our booking on the phone was also so sweet and lovely. Everyone couldn’t do enough for us. It really makes an experience when people treat you kindly. We had a wonderful time and really appreciated the effort. We will certainly be back.

Negative experience: We were a party of 20 plus booked for dinner To celebrate a birthday. We were the only group in the restaurant yet there was only 2 people to take orders for food and drink and to serve. Clearly not enough. We were seated for dinner at 8:30 pm, the starter wasn’t served until 9:20 pm and dessert wasn’t served until 11:30 pm, leaving guests frustrated and hungry. When food was served the staff didn't know who ordered which dishes and so it was akin to a street market as they called out to determine who ordered which dish. Not what I would expect for a hotel which on their website claimed to "transport guests into a world of relaxation" In general I found overall care and maintenance of the property to be poor with some car park spaces covered in a layer of moss that was clearly years old. I could go on highlighting other issues. But in the interest of keeping it brief I will stop there. I would not expect to visit this hotel again

Negative experience: Went for an overnight stay for food and drinks with friends. Check-in was simple, friendly staff and the room was ready early which was nice. The rooms on the third floor are quite outdated and paint is stripping from the walls, old carpets and decor. There was no shampoo or conditioner coming from the containers in the shower. We had lunch and the waitress was friendly and helpful, the food was nice. We had dinner in the bar and the experience was abysmal. The staff didn't seem to care and didn't want to be there. Multiple issues were wrong with the orders, mainly not bringing drinks and food. It took multiple prompts each time and some sides were only brought out once everyone had finished their food. After the meal we ordered more drinks and it took about 25mins before they were brought down, missing one of the drinks. After a complaint the manager said they would take certain drinks off the bill, but when the bill came some drinks were still on the bill, including the drink that never came. The manager did eventually rectify this. On checking out we let the reception know some of these issues and it seemed they couldn't have cared less.

Fantastic experience: Stayed on the getaway package deal with my friend, the food was absolutely amazing, fine dining and lovely options. Staff were very accommodating and on the ball. An empty plate was never left in front of us which I really appreciate. Cannot fault anything. The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas too

Fantastic experience: Had a lovely few days at the mount wolseley and really enjoyed their leisure centre. I found both changing rooms and shower facilities spotless. The pool was beautiful and water was heated just right. The staff were lovely and very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Jay in the leisure centre was very helpful and answered any queries I had. I would highly recommend this hotel and the leisure centre was differently the iceing on the cake so to speak.10/10.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful family night away . Beautiful hotel, delicious meal at Frederick's, lovely spacious bar with excellent Night time entertainment .Initially a bit disappointed that our superior delux room had two single beds pushed together instead of a king size bed.When we complained staff very helpful and offered us complimentary use of Spa facilities which we really appreciated.It was my husbands birthday and he received a birthday plate of cakes in his room .We would highly recommend the Mount Wolseley and we will definitely be back.Thank you

Fantastic experience: Attended a wedding. Great hotel. Extremely helpful and friendly service and staff. Breakfast was super and rooms were very clean and bed very comfy. Ideal location for touring the south east. Lovely rural setting with fab golf course and lovely views of Mount leinster and blackstairs mountains Loads to visit and do in the surrounding area eg hillwalking golf fishing visiting historical sights and not far from the historical towns of enniscorthy,kilkenny waterford and wexford. Just over an hours drive from Dublin also.

Fantastic experience: We stayed here for one night. Our booking included a four course dinner, breakfast and entrance into leisure center. Our room was classed as a double deluxe. The bed was huge and very comfortable.The room was spotless. Our dinner at Frederick restaurant was gorgeous. The beef was melt in your mouth just to highlight one thing. The breakfast was a buffet style with a hot option and also fresh fruit, juice cereal. The staff we met throughout were attentive and very friendly. My only negative would be our experience at the leisure centre. When we arrived I popped down to the centre to confirm our swim times. It would have been informative and convenient to be told about the robes and the fact that the changing rooms were not in use.instead I spotted other guests in robes and asked them where to get the robes only to be told you get them at the leisure centre for €10.00 deposit. So back down I went to get our robes. The following morning we were again heading for a swim with a lovely family queuing in front of us, they also knew nothing about the changing rooms and we're scolded by the attendant and told to to change in the gym area and that they should have know this as it was in the email. I can with certainty there was zero information about the pool rules in any emails. So overall our stay was fantastic the only let down was the pool and the lack of interest from the staff there.

Fantastic experience: We recently held our small wedding at Mount Wolseley. The fact that it was small did not reduce the service we received at all. I cannot compliment Mount Wolseley enough. The whole place was amazing. The food was fab particularly the Canapés after the ceremony. But above all the staff were amazing. It started with Carmel the wedding coordinator who was superb and ably assisted by Breda who was also super. We had the pleasure of Danny on the day in the golf buggy and he also looked after the music at the ceremony. What can I say about Greta she was such a lovely, cheerful and helpful from the time we arrived to the end of the day. Mount Wolseley should be so proud of their staff. I would recommend this as a wedding venue for anyone. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and will remember Mount Wolseley for a long long time.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I (with in-laws) had a lovely stay in MW. First experience, where we availed of golfing and spa amenities. TOP DRAWER for both!!! Also , had a nice meal/breakfast as part of package. What I would say, to MW and any hostelry in Ireland... You have now reopened amid Covid and the majority of the country needing a staycation. You have a captive market to entice, so please work towards package deals to suit all, to enjoy your fantastic resort/s. Folk will not worry about the weather, if they are getting a fair deal. A few days away should NOT cost an arm and a leg!!!

Fantastic experience: What a beautiful hotel! Everything was spotlessly clean. When you get to your room there is a tag hanging from the door knob saying ' clean and safe' , and it certainly was. Staff were always so helpful and you could tell they were smiling under their mask. A testing golf course surrounded the hotel and a nice swimming pool to unwind in the evening. All in all a very pleasant stay.

Fantastic experience: We have enjoyed returning there for the past six years, sometimes twice a year. The food is always lovely. The staff always helpful, our recent visit Liz was exceptionally helpful. The rooms are a good size and nicely decorated but are also being upgraded at the moment. Plenty of space to relax and walks in the grounds plus the short drive away Altamont and Rathwood. Its a short walk into Tullow too. Nearly ten visits there and never been disappointed. Its great value too.

Positive experience: I really like Mount Wolseley. The spa is great. There's plenty of options to choose from, it's a calming environment! I felt great after visiting. I also had afternoon tea, this was my favourite part of the stay. The room where the afternoon tea is served is super extravagant and feels extra special.

Fantastic experience: We really enjoyed our 2 nights stay here as part of a luxury spa treat package. The hotel itself is well maintained and very comfy. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and plentiful. The spa centre was very relaxing and the staff was very helpful once again. The leisure centre has a big swimming pool complete with a sauna/hammam/jacuzzi. Due to COVID, make sure to book every amenities in advance, but the plus side of this is that you'll be able to enjoy some of those just for yourself, making this experience even more unique ! We highly recommend Mount Wolseley for a pleasant and relaxing weekend.

Positive experience: Stayed here for 2 nights, B+B and 1 dinner. Really enjoyed our stay here. Hotel and Rooms were clean. Beautiful Christmas decorations on display. Staff were just so lovely and accommodating. Went during the week. Hotel was quiet and chilled. Went to the swimming pool, booked in advance and enjoyed our hour there. Fantastic experience: Just back from a few nights away here. The staff where extremely friendly and helpful and couldn't do more for you. The food was great we ate in both the bar and restaurant and all the food we had was amazing wherever we ate. The spa is nice and the treatments we had were lovely. Would definitely go back.

Positive experience: Lovely spot. Located in a most beautiful part of Ireland. The king-size double bed was 2 singles pushed together, not the best for a couple who want to be close. But the room itself was exceptional. Lovely comfy chairs, a bath and shower room, separate to the toilet. Dinner was lovely, though the veg on the side was a bit too carvery. Pizza was lovely, chips were from frozen. Curry has a dominate cardamon pod taste. Like red curry past with extra cardamon pods. Quite odd, cardamon pods weren't to be found in the curry, just toasted in the preparation maybe.

Fantastic experience: Recent two night stay at mount Wolsey on a B/B basis. From arrival to departure looked after by friendly staff. Availed of meals in bar both evenings and food delicious. Took the option of breakfast served to room for a small charge and it was just the ticket. Leisure centre and swimming pool available but did not use it. Took a walk along their nature trail walk and observed a variety of wild life during course of same. Will definitely re visit in time, all in all a very pleasurable experience.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love Mount Wolseley, had my wedding here and still love to come back!. Beautiful surroundings, a wonderful golf course for golf enthusiasts. The leisure centre is fab, changing rooms and pool spotless. Food is fabulous, pleasant staff, 5 minute walk into Tullow, 20 minutes from Carlow Town and some great amenities like Rathwood close by. Worth a visit, great for families and couples alike.

Fantastic experience: Spent 3 nights in Mount Wolseley on our 'staycation' this year and highly recommend. We were two families - 4 adults and 4 kids - and we had the most wonderful room setup of 2 connecting family rooms. It was perfect! The leisure centre has to be commended - the staff were always excellent (we went every day). The outdoor playground is perfect for kids. Breakfast was excellent! We went to Rathdown and rode the train and walked the trails and this was a lovely day out!

Fantastic experience: The grounds and setting of the hotel is stunning. From the time you drive through the entrance gates and up along the avenue leading to the hotel which is framed by beautiful mature trees and shrubberies not to mention the gorgeous stone wall to the right over which you can see the stunning golf course , feature pond , helipad and the beautiful lemon/white build of the hotel itself - the interior of the hotel is gorgeous too with a fabulous restaurant/bar which is enormous and luxurious and ideal for families plus the reception and mezzanine areas are so spacious and luxurious not to mention the standard and comfort of the bedrooms - it all adds up to being an ideal place to go for a relaxing break to recharge the batteries . In addition to the great golf course there is a super gym and swimming pool so something for all tastes

Fantastic experience: We went for 2 nights with children, mainly as a relaxing swimming pool trip. The swimming pool was very nice, and the restaurant and bar served food that the children liked, including nice healthy options. We also liked the breakfast, which included lots of irish and continental foods, and the restaurant's garden, with laventer and butterflies, and a little playhouse, where children can safely play while adults enjoy their extra cup of tea. we only visited one local attraction (delta gardens, which were cute) so i do not know whether it's worth staying longer for the sake of local attractions. Outside the hotel is very pleasant with the golf fields, too.
