Aura Tullamore Leisure Centre

Negative experience: I am a 17 year old,working part time,going to school etc.I have been in this fitness centre for a long period of time.Rules of the under 18s have not been seen anywhere as much recently.I pay for a membership that doesn’t allow me to access to the fitness suite after working or educational studies.I was not permitted to enter in recently.For the price I pay to not enter the gym is ridiculous.The changing rooms of the gym is absolutely atrocious as seen in the other reviews.I have been a loyal member.if needed to go to a gym in TULLAMORE DONT GO TO AURA

Negative experience: I am a 17 year old working a job and unable to go gym before half 6. The under 18 rule is ridiculous as people who go school or have jobs will have no time to get ready or have any gym time. I have been a member for over a year and have always respected the gym. In the recent weeks the sign for the half 6 rule have been removed and replaced with a under 16 year olds can't be using the free weight which is misleading. I pay for a membership at aura not a curfew. If you want to go to a good gym don't go to aura as they don't respect people who work or people who pay.

Negative experience: Poor facilities, nice staff but the gym itself is poor quality with broken machines half the time

Negative experience: Gym was very small , barely like 3 or 4 machines. The gym showers were always so disgusting. The worst part about it was their 6 month minimum contract. It was ridiculous especially if you were only signing up in the summer

Negative experience: Way too Costly membership for worn down machines and not a lot of diverse equipment available, gym is relatively small too, I think the gym is okay but definitely not worth the money. Hygiene in changing rooms & renovations in the facilities really need to improve though.

Negative experience: So, the reason I gave this review 2 stars and not 1 is because the staff are always quite nice at reception and help if anything is needed. The issues in Aura tullamore are more about the maintenance in the gym locker rooms (male and female). The showers have chipped tiles, the lockers don't have any straps on any of the keys, and I can't even begin to describe the toilet in the changing area. I've seen cleaner toilets at music festivals. They seem to be cleaned maybe once every day and there is hardly ever toilet paper. The drains always smell quite badly, the tiles are covered in snot, chewing gum, and are cleaned very infrequently (i believe based on condition). If you compare this to other facilities in the court hotel, or snap fitness they are far worse in terms of the changing facilities they have and also the cleanliness standards. They also recently changed policy and my teenage son can't go post 6.30 which has limited his ability to train (he is a competitive swimmer and used to train evenings at the gym) All in all since i rejoined this year (i was a member a long time ago) I'm far more inclined to go back to the court hotel or snap fitness due to everything described. Just to reiterate, the staff are great. This isn't a staff issue, it's a facilities and hygiene issue.

Negative experience: I dropped off my son this morning who has been a member for the last 2 year's and he's membership was up yesterday and he wasn't allowed in .. this is really bad form.

Fantastic experience: I would like to say that this is a genuine nice place to visit, the girls at reception are lovely especially Ella. The gym can be quite dirty at times but it’s very hard to keep clean unless there is someone there constantly hovering which is hard due to so many people in the gym.. The pool is lovely and warm and all swim teachers are very good there is one Asian woman who is very rude but other then that all teachers and lifeguards are friendly. I went to the gym to sign up for membership and talked to a lovely girl Tara who was so helpful and explained the steps through the gym program etc. The changing rooms need an upgrade I agree but staff are lovely and gym is wonderful.

Negative experience: DISGUSTING AND UNCLEAN is the only way to describe it. Just read all other reviews. Same dirt and dust in the same places for over a year, lots of facilities broken or don't work (e.g. only 1 shower working in mens changing rooms for over a month). Any other company would have sacked the management. Surprised anyone with any pride would want to work in such a badly run place.

Negative experience: Very professional helpful staff. Unfortunately the hygiene and facilities in gym are horrendous for the price of membership. There’s 1 shower available and doors and windows are all closed in gym madness when busy why not open up some ventilation. Some equipment is also not up standard not good enough for price of membership.

Negative experience: Hygiene is a massive problem in this leisure centre, hair & water constantly all over the floors. Stench of urine from changing rooms & the bathrooms are to be avoided at all costs. Staff at reception are friendly but seem inexperienced dealing with feedback or handling problems- the swim staff occasionally seem disinterested don’t know students names after 8 lessons etc not fully bought into the programme or just hate their job.

Negative experience: Staff there is so rude especially this one Asian lady she refused us entry to the pool when we got there around 13:30 She said “the pool is closing at 14:30” for lessons She refused us to go and change she kept insisting that changing takes time she kept coming up with different excuses for us not to enter the pool I don’t know if your policy says no black people allowed cause we have encountered racism not just once but twice in one place

Negative experience: Disappointed wit the state of the showers ,toilets..quiet dirty and smelly...and the male and female changing rooms together is not nice...u really shuld consider separate changing rooms...

Negative experience: My son came home crying becouse he went swimming With his buddes but then a life guard to him to get out becouse he being pulled and pushed to the end of the pool he told the life guard that it was not fair he did nothing he was being pushed to the end of the pool the life guard said i dont care get out now. and the staff are so mean the life guard that told him to leave said it was beacouse of bad behaver how is him being pulled to the end of the pool bad behaver the staff are so mean there is like one nice person if i could leave 0 stars i would i would not go here if i where you. go if you like your kids crying

Negative experience: The hygiene in the changing rooms and the bathrooms of the swimming is absolutely appalling! Most days you're greated by intense, disgusting smells. I dared using the bathroom once and will never again. Hairdryers are not powerful enough and out of order most of the time.

Negative experience: Staff is great in tullamore.but the gym is very small and gym bunnies guy just sit on only 2 benches avaible and post on snapchat instead of working out.and whats with this 6 months binding contract?what are you?a bank?come on...

Negative experience: No equipment at all, always packed, absolutely horrible, staff are so mean and there are people always grunting in the gym, it’s so loud and weights are keep getting smashed on the floor. Definitely wouldn’t recommend

Negative experience: Staff turnover has been high since it opened in 2008. I rarely used it due to the poor pricing. Changing rooms had a disgusting odour in 2009. What a nostalgic slap in the face I got when I walked in last week. That horrendous odour is still there! No other gym I have ever used has had this problem. It's not horrible but there are other leisure centres in the town that you should consider.

Negative experience: I'm extremely dissatisfied with this place today. The pricing for pay-as-you-go customers seems to fluctuate arbitrarily, depending on which staff member assists me. Additionally, there appears to be inconsistency in staff training, resulting in different rules being applied to customers each time they visit. For example, over the past six months, my seven-year-old was permitted to enter the pool with their 17-year-old sibling, but today, I was informed that this arrangement is not allowed, and only an adult can accompany my child. Despite consistently informing staff members of my children's ages, this rule was NEVER enforced before. Furthermore, the changing rooms have a persistent and unpleasant smell and are very dirty, showers full of hair.

Positive experience: Good public gym with decent equipment, but there's no supervision or support, so you need to know what you are doing.

Fantastic experience: I only used the pool but was very impressed with the facilities on offer. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The pool was a good temperature and size. Clean sauna and steam room. Great aqua gym classes that were very well attended. Excellent facility in Tullamore....looking forward to my next visit when I'm back in the area.

Negative experience: I personally have been a member for the past year, they have increased the price since the start of this year and have done nothing to update their gym facility. they have multiple issues: - gym is very congested with students from the hours of 13:00 - 19:00 becoming a hangout for them. (could easily eliminate this problem by having certain student hours from 10:00-16:00 as they are paying a cheaper membership) - if equipment's do get damaged it takes minimum 2 months for them to have it fixed - Weekend opening hours are quite short 8:18, which is understandable, they could just leave the gym facility open till 8pm. - music in the weight room is soo loud that you can barely hear your own music, so i've just stopped bringing my headphones. fixing these simple solutions would boost the business profits from the gym side easily, and would make the gym a bit more appealing to go to. P.S the staff are lovely, no issues there, but we're paying to use a certain facility which is not up to par.

Fantastic experience: Went there today round 1, staff very friendly and helpful, pool was lovely and warm the way you would want it, water is very clean and not that much chlorine in it either, steam room was lovely and wasn’t so warm it was easy to breath. Showers very wide and could fit 3-4 people in there to share a shower so other people could have their turn. Hair dryers very good quality, changing rooms were big as well. Free car parking is an extra star if i could give it. Will definitely be back

Fantastic experience: Staff friendly. Could do with expanding gym or move weights to a different room for more Space and equipment. I’ve seen this done in other gyms and it works well for everyone. Pool is great. People leaving clothes in changing rooms is a bit annoying. Hard to police that.

Negative experience: It's the 4th time we are here and 3rd time the hair dryers are out of order. The only one working is in the female changing room for the gym. But you have to ask to know it is there. The changing rooms in the swimming pool are occupied with customers' things. It isn't allowed to leave belonging there but people still do it and the staff doesn't do anything about it. An update. A year passed and nothing changed. I am going to look for alternatives to this swimming pool.

Negative experience: Not sure what happened to the place but lately gym it's super dirty, the toilet in lady changing room wasn't cleaned three days is just disscusting, in showers no hot water and no pressure, not sure why I'm paying membership, I have cancelled at this point

Positive experience: Girl on the reception was very ignorant. Zero customer service skills wouldn't even look at me when I was paying and was too busy giggling on the phone. Dressing room was dirty with old plasters and wrappers left on the floor. Floor wasn't being brushed down to drain the water either. Life gurads that day were brilliant they were actually monitoring the pool and not sitting on their arses

Negative experience: Very tired and sad looking. Showers dated, lockers broken, cobwebs in main gym, lots of machines not plugged in.... needs a revamp.

Fantastic experience: Great pool. We have our kids in the swim academy. Both the babies and ducklings teachers are brilliant.

Negative experience: MY EXPERIENCE; Walked in, very unclear entrance (no signs or direction). Ladies bathroom full of water, felt like I was drowning. Member of staff using facilities got very annoyed and kept asking; aRe yOu OkaY? Eventually found the gym, which the entrance was completely dark again no signage. Walked into the gym and felt it like death. NO MUSIC PLAYING I didn’t pay €9 for a silent disco. The worst part of my experience was: I went to use the squat rack that was not in use for a solid 10 minutes and mystery man JAMIE felt the need to say he was using it even though he was using every other piece of equipment in the gym. Jamie explained he had on set left…..he did not, very large lie. He proceeded to lie on the bench lift the bar once, get up to play with the plates, lifted less weight and played with the plates again as I was standing there patiently. I could not use the leg press as someone was guarding it with all their life, and so I came to the decision to leave this place of HELL! This was not only a horrible experience but truly turned me off the gym forever. I will never be going to a gym again and will be continuing my fitness journey on the couch. Positive experience: I am a current member. I enjoy going here with my daughter a few times a week and she does swim academy also and for that it’s really great. Staff are so lovely too. The swim instructors are amazing with the kids, especially Linda, Sam & Simon. However, for the price of the membership we pay the facilities are dated and damaged, there is no jacuzzi ( one of my favourite parts of going swimming ) and the temperature of the pool is often very cold, making it not an enjoyable experience. Anyway, we’ll continue to go ! Just some of my thoughts.

Negative experience: Would have given 0 stars but staff friendliness makes it a 1. Facilities are dated, equipment either missing (machine clip attachments) or not wiped down after use. For the membership cost, the roi for the equipment and machines available is appalling. I understand that a smaller gym chain can't compete with the likes of Ben Dunne Gym's but cmon. There is zero enforcement on the gym floor - no one to monitor when members do not wipe down after themselves, don't unrack their weights etc... Gent's changing room full of mildew and always unhygienic (I have not thought twice about having a shower or changing in the gym). I would like to see long term - continuous cleaning of the changing rooms and more variety in equipment to be added to the gym floor. Thank you

Positive experience: They're doing their best to keep running. For example swimming lessons are set for one direction walk in walk out system to minimise the risk of infections.

Positive experience: Went in to the open swim and paid full price but when we went in most of the pool was cut off for private lessons. A young life guard on a power trip was constantly at the children about splashing playing and even told my 13 yr old nephew not to be smiling to much.. crazy place with silly rules I won't be back
