Negative experience: The room was freezing and quite small. We were in a room near the road which in self was noisy however the walls are paper thin and we were woken by people talking in the room next door at 3am. Staff did very little to resolve this situation. Bed is uncomfortable. Would not recommend. Staff are quite rude.

Positive experience: A beautiful hotel with all the amenities unfortunately as always the bar staff are reactive rather than proactive. They should be retrained to serve more than one person a time. I had to leave my seat at the side bar and walk around to get a bar person to serve me.

Positive experience: Stayed in this hotel for around 15 nights during the summer. Positives- great location (only hotel like it for miles), on-site restaurants were the best in Maynooth, staff was incredible. I would stay there again for business. The rooms have a lot of potential- bathrooms are nice, shower has great water pressure. I did find it very difficult to sleep though. The beds did not have enough cushion, they feel worn out. Also the pillows feel dated, they don’t have that nice feel, were very stiff. Finally the no air conditioning is terrible. I feel like this is an easy solution to get individual units for each room.

Positive experience: This Glenroyal hotel is great, featuring wonderful and welcoming staff, along with an onsite coffee shop and a mini mart just across the street. Its location is excellent, being just a metro ride away from the city center. However, the rooms were disappointing due to the lack of air conditioning, making them excessively warm, and there was no mini fridge. I take responsibility for not checking the room amenities beforehand. I would certainly consider staying here again, but only if air conditioning were available.

Positive experience: Generally nice hotel , but lack of air-conditioning is something the hotel should invest in. Rooms way too hot over night which makes uncomfortable to sleep. Breakfast was lovely but the restaurant was so hot and heavy , you couldn't enjoy the meal.

Positive experience: Rooms were too hot to sleep but in saying that housekeeping staff we very apologetic and gave us fans really no more they could do for us .... restaurant service was excellent but on the downside when we went to pay for meal a male member of staff was quite rude asking did we want our change ...as for the food I would give the food 20 out of 10 .....coming from hospitality sector ourselves we can tell when a chef has put passion on the plate could not fault anything and it was exactly as menu described your getting the real deal here.

Negative experience: Could write a list of negatives about this hotel. Some staff were nice but the majority were miserable. The room was either incredibly warm making it impossible to sleep or you get aircon that sounds like a tractor and it looks like a cowboy builder installed it. There was no fridge in room either which was awkward as we needed to keep milk for our 18 month old son, so constant trips to reception as we stored it there. We also had to get a baby mattress brought to room but what they gave us was more of a health hazard as it didn’t fit the cot and over-hanged the baby. The tv didnt give you many options either, no modern apps and half the live channels didnt work. The kids pool was pretty mediocre as it was either full of adults without kids trying to do laps or classes of 20-30 pensioners in it.

Positive experience: Basic customer service. No Id check for security. Never asked once if everything was OK, or if we needed anything when we passed reception numerous times. The rooms are small and the walls are paper thin. No air-conditioning and one creaky fan supplied . No fridge , so that's false advertising. Room was not cleaned and no fresh towels were there when we came back next afternoon,because our door sign was flipped by someone. Lifeguard at the swimming pool was actually reading a book. Parking is atrocious as people who use the leisure centre are allowed to park in hotel spots. The changing facilities as a parent concerned me , only one padlock , yes, padlock ,for one locker, which meant my wife could not lock hers as we have 2 boys as well. The staff member said to my wife to wait outside the mens changing room, so I could take her stuff to the men's locker. There is no privacy to get changed which was uncomfortable. Also if anyone reads this, please ,notify leisure centre users to be aware. There was a young girl in the mens changing room and the amount of adult males walking around naked was disturbing. Unless they are blind , it's inappropriate. A fire alarm went off briefly and we weren't reassured if it was a test or false alarm. So hard to relax in room. On check out not asked how our stay was. The only good thing was the location as quite central to shops, supervalue etc.

Negative experience: We stayed for 2 nights, the first night was like trying to sleep in a sauna, horrendous especially with 2 young children, also no proper cot mattresses. We had an air con machine in the room which was good through the day however it was far too loud to sleep with it on. Disappointing. The kids club was great however the swimming pool was one of the coldest we’ve been in. Food was average, some of the staff were lovely however some were rude and unhelpful. No fridges in the rooms so I had to keep milk for my baby in the staff fridge at reception. Lift was also broken so had to carry pram etc downstairs. Wouldn’t return unfortunately

Fantastic experience: The Glenroyal is THE place to stay in Maynooth. Not only are the rooms absolutely fabulous, the food is too. The staff members are all so friendly and helpful. And right across from the hotel is a little shopping area for groceries, pharmacy, etc., so it could not have been more convenient. As a person in a wheelchair, it was far more accessible than most other places. I would rate it a ten on a scale of one to five (five being highest)!!! ;)

Fantastic experience: The Glenroyal is not only somewhere I’ve stayed but it’s also a local amenity for me and my family. Great food, beautiful hotel and really friendly helpful reception and restaurant/ café staff. I wanted to particularly mention the leisure centre as it’s a fantastic facility with loads of great equipment and classes. The staff go above & beyond to provide excellent classes (such as Dave’s weekly spin class) and I’ve had some amazing personal training sessions there from Ryan. The hotel also organize great members events like the BBQ and the Christmas walk.
Fantastic experience: This is a lovely hotel in a good location. The room was clean and comfortable and there were plenty of options at breakfast. We had a meal in the bar one of the evenings and the food was delicious, even though vegetarian options are limited. The staff in the bar, at breakfast and at reception were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Negative experience: Smelly, green (no)service and no sound proofing. The rooms are smelly of mood, which was making my pregnant wife feel sick. They didn't even check the rooms for service. When questioned, it was said they do it upon request, although it wasn't written anywhere, which tells me it's more of an excuse instead of apologizing for a basic mistake in a hotel that sells themselves as luxury. I'm glad I didn't go to the pool or sauna as God knows which kind of green service you'll find there. Finally, the alarms went off twice at 1:30 am waking up all guests. That made me wonder if it's because they wanted us to join the party that was going on, we could clearly listen to it from the rooms. Unfortunately, no party for us. My recommendation is to go elsewhere, you'll find much better hotels in the temple bar that will cost you less. This comes from someone who is coming to Ireland from time to time. I'm definitely not coming back and it's sad as it was a recommendation from a local.

Positive experience: Far from the city centre (1h) by train/tram what ever you want to call it . Good service . Rooms aren’t sound proof , I could hear everyone snoring and running in the hallway . Not much to see around here or many shops . At most a 3 star hotel not 4. Smoke alarm goes off for absolutely no reason . I’ve been to 2-3stars hotel and they had a little fridge at least not this one . Overall if it’s 1week it’s an okay hotel but more than that it’s not worth it . They try to charge you breakfast room service when it’s included with your reservation you just have to let them know maybe they charge first and then verify if it’s included or not . By far the worst wifi I guess because it’s free to everyone instead of limiting it for the hotel guest . 3/5 cheers

Fantastic experience: Recent Stay Myself and my partner have just returned from staying at the Glenroyal Hotel and can only describe our stay as wow! From the moment we checked in to departure every staff member we encountered could not have been more welcoming, friendly, helpful and a joy to deal with – clearly, they are proud of their work and relish working in what can be a demanding yet rewarding industry. We both have a background in hospitality and know exactly how it goes. The room itself and all areas of the hotel were impeccable and there was literally nothing we could fault. Breakfast each morning was delicious and I want to thank the breakfast chefs for the superb quality of the offerings which was consistent across both mornings and our previous visit. We had dinner on one of the nights and again the food was exquisite and expertly cooked (Magret Duck and Monkfish). The little extra touches though were a nice surprise factor. If you dine you'll know. As a special mention we wish to acknowledge the entire front office team including Siobhan, Sarah, Victor and Ernesto. The bar and restaurant team especially Mark in Arkle – you have a great team of clever mixologists (Breakfast at Tiffany’s) and to everyone working behind the scenes who ensure this hotel runs like clockwork. All in all this is an 11/10 stay, even better than our first visit and we are already planning to return soon. Best wishes and continued success.

Positive experience: The parking is a nightmare, large carpark but rammed. The room was large and clean but no fridge, no air-conditioning and the room was positioned by a very noisy and smelly kitchen extractor. We had one day where there was no signal to our TV. The lift was out of order for three days, making it very difficult for my 89 year old mother. She did have one fall trying to negotiate stairs. Breakfast was average, but the drinks area was carnage. Messy, no mugs, no sweeter, no teaspoons, sticky floor, despite there being numerous staff members around. Despite all this, we enjoyed our stay but do not think it's a 4 star hotel as listed.

Negative experience: Rooms are not soundproof. You can hear snooring in next room. There were people partying in the room next to me half of the night the second night of my stay, so relaxing weekend turned into very unpleasant experience. For 4 stars hotel with price almost 200 per night this is very poor and cannot recommend.

Fantastic experience: We enjoyed a little family break at the Glen royal as it is not far from Clonfert pet farm. The location is excellent and Maynooth is a beautiful town. The hotel itself is nicely decorated and immaculately clean,the rooms are warm and comfortable. The fire alarms woke us a couple of times in the night maybe that was a fault or due to other residents. The family pool area felt a little cold but overall a lovely pool and nice size. The staff were all extremely nice,polite and friendly especially towards the children.

Positive experience: A very beautiful hotel with great amenities to stay in Meynooth. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is delicious. They have 2 pools and a gym for recreation. Located ideally and with a great pub. It's a perfect stay!

Fantastic experience: Stayed here for 10 days and couldn't fault the service. 1st week room view was of the roofs and air-conditioning units. 2nd week had a nice view of the church and greenery. Staff from morning to evening were impeccable. Breakfast through to dinner was also spot on. 1st week had a fan, 2nd week didn't but was cooler. As a long stayer imo needed a fridge and only reason I made a 4 star review. Amenities there if u wanted them, staff brilliant, would give 4.5 if allowed. Enjoyed my stay here, but with 5 days and no fridge, couldn't keep my outgoings down for the 2 weeks. 5 star for the rest though. Had to up th3 4 star to 5 as felt 8t was tight for the experience I had.

Negative experience: This review is just for the leisure club. Overall it is a nice pool but it is small and charging 20 euro for an adult and 12 euro for a child is robbery. Won't be returning.

Negative experience: Incredibly disappointed with the quality of this hotel. First night, incredibly hot as the window feels prison esk and there is no Aircon. If you like to shower, make sure your fast. Hot water and pressure seems to be on a 2min timer. Quality of bed is horrendous for the cost, very poor quality. Manager kindly moved me, turns out the beds are all the same, and the water is shocking throughout the hotel. I'm checking out and checking into the Carton house for a good night's sleep

The bar staff were great they didn't have the cocktails on the menu we were looking but they made them for us no problem at all. The food in the arkle restaurant top class. Negative experience: I had used the pool and put my bag in a locker without a lock (it was foolish, i know). I returned from pool area to find another guest had put their lock on it. A staff member came to the locker room doing their rounds and I flagged this to them. I was told by the staff member that ‘that is why we tell people to bring locks’ and was told there is nothing they can do. I was waiting for an hour in my trunks. Facilities are pretty good just one or two staff members making the place miserable.
Negative experience: My family is traveling around Ireland and chose this hotel as my dad has stayed here numerous times over the past 30 years. We booked a triple room for one night and booked two rooms for the next two nights once we arrived because the online booking was too complicated. The room they first gave us was a double room which they corrected to the triple room we booked. We ate in the hotel restaurant that night which was understaffed for the party they were hosting in addition to hotel guests so it took very long to get our food. They apologized and offered free dessert. The next day after confirming our next reservation at the desk they called us at 10:15am to say they did not actually have any rooms for the next two nights. Offering no help in finding other accommodations nor anything beyond an apology. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. They have lost the recommendation of my father, a patron for 3 decades, and his local friends who would put people up here regularly.

Positive experience: Excellent modern hotel with great rooms . Bar with pleasent outside area. My only problem with the hotel is that it is vast and warren like. Negotiating to and from your room is confusing with very few signs. Apart from that well worth staying here.
Positive experience: Hotel centrally located in maynooth and only 18mins drive from the K-club which makes it an ideal place to stay if golfing in the area. Buffet breakfast was top quality definitely worth the €15.

Fantastic experience: Great Gym and Leisure Facilities here. It can get very busy in the evening time during the week. The steam room is one of the best I've been in. The sauna is well maintained and is very clean. The pool is very clean also. There are 2 lanes and an open pool area. The dressing room showers are always clean. The staff are always nice and helpful.

Positive experience: Went for lunch in the Shona coffee shop on Saturday, as it states open until 4.00. We arrivedat 3.30 a d was told it was closed chair's on tables only doing take away coffee. Not good enough.
Fantastic experience: An amazing hotel. We took our 2 kids 6 and 4 year old and they had a ball. Right on the M4, We were only planning on staying 1 night but we decided to stay an extra night because we were so impressed with the Hotel and the staff and the facilities. Food, service, pool, staff, kids club, even has a Café attached. Arkle bar has a huge screen showing the sport, and theres a Supervalue across the street with a Pharmacy. We will be back regularly.

Positive experience: tried to book reception for our wedding. but they by policy can't give less than 80. guests. they offered us the use of the restaurant. with everyone else. . it was 12 hotel rooms reserved. 30 to eat. and they said no to helping us with a function room. we have found another. and they are getting €4500. from us in 8 hours. !
Fantastic experience: The rooms were lovely, love the fact that they Put face cloths in the bathroom I only wish that the towels were bigger. I had two minor issues that the tea in the rooms tasted terrible had to throw out the tea undrinkable. I also love the fact that they left water in your room the bottles were made from plant based materials the two issues I had no teaspoons with your cups and the evening meal was not to my taste breakfast was lovely apart from those issues I would stay in the Hotel again.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful stay last night for a birthday celebration. Can't fault the hotel at all. Every member of staff was in top form & couldn't have done more for us. Shoda cafe had excellent choices and the food was superb. Same for the breakfast in the hotel, very high quality ingredients and fantastic choice. Excellent experience all round & as such, we will be coming back. Next time maybe for longer to get use of the leisure centre.

Positive experience: Lovely hotel, good kids club and pool, but the rooms were so hot and the thermostat didn't work. We didn't sleep a wink. The noise of a boiler constantly going. Also teenagers kicking our door in till after 12 in the night. It was a nightmare. The breakfast was lovely and there was a good selection. I told the staff at reception about the noise and also wrote an email. Haven't received any feedback but overall its a nice hotel and would recommend staying when it's not packed with children as we had a lovely stay the previous few times.

Fantastic experience: As a family of 6 we find it hard to get suitable Hotel accommodation where we , my wife & I and our 4 children have beds , more than 1 bathroom and enough space for us all to move comfortably and put our belongings away but gladly we had all that and more in the Glenroyal Hotel. We made our booking through Leah Dempsey Maher who works in the Hotel and we have to say we were blowing away with the Welcome she provided for us . When we walked in the door and went to the reception Leah was there to greet us with a big smile and welcoming hello . She took all our details and made made the payment transaction so easy . Next Leah took the time to show us the facilities in the Hotel like the Leisure Centre , Restaurant & Bar and so kindly escorted us to our room . Along the way she explained everything about the Hotel and all the amenities it provides for its customers and what the benefits the Hotel provides for a family like us . Leah also made our booking for the Restaurant that evening so basically we just relaxed as everything was done for us . It’s clear to us that Leah puts her heart and soul into her job at the Glenroyal Hotel and goes above and beyond her role to make sure the guests are really well looked after which helps them have a brilliant experience. All 6 of us had an amazing stay at the Hotel, all the staff were brilliant , the leisure centre & gym was great, the Bar & restaurant was amazing as the food , drink & service was top notch . We will most certainly be back again and will be recommending the Hotel to family & friends. Leah is a true professional, has a bright future ahead as she has everything to go to the top with her career and she is a credit to the Hotel & herself and we will be telling everyone about how amazingly she looked after us and will look forward to dealing with her again and getting back for another top class stay at the Glenroyal Hotel

Positive experience: Lovely hotel, very accommodating. Plenty of free parking spaces but In a very busy environment as a little shopping centre is across the way from this hotel. And a huge SuperValu too. This little village is very busy because everything is in close proximity to one another like lots of schools, university etc so traffic can get busy easily. As for the gym they really need to limit that big time. Lots of kids / youths just standing around machines talking and taken up the equipment ♀️ huge downfall that needs to change for the future as it’s a turn off.

The complimentary breakfast was very delicious and even offered raw local honey! Wow! We loved it. They even offer you their own water which is an elegant touch. The only concern was that although we stayed at an Executive Family Suite, the view was very restricted which was disappointing, it faced the roof with HVAC systems and the room needed to be better ventilated. We asked the front desk to change our room however they could not accommodate that even though there was an empty room down the hall from us. So I would urge them to make this clear during the booking process so that there are no surprises. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and the staff was friendly. We will certainly be back and highly recommend staying here while visiting Dublin.

Negative experience: Review for Leisure Centre only. I’ve been a member for 6 weeks and I am not impressed. There is not adequate parking. The men’s changing room, lockers, showers and toilets are filthy, don’t ever seem to be cleaned. Halls and reception area also filthy, leaves everywhere in there yesterday. They let teenagers (under 17) into the adults only pool area. There are exposed electrics in the men’s changing room. Exposed electrical cables in hydro pool area, presumably from a clock they didn’t bother replacing. Giant stain on ceiling above the hydro pool. Not enough clocks in pool area and the one they have is tiny. One of only two cold showers in the pool area broken now for a couple of weeks. Also they are ignoring an inquiry made via facebook sent over a week ago. Shambolic to say the least. Editing the review to reply to the response. No one was in contact with me to address any of the above issues other than the inquiry I made via facebook which they are refusing to help me with. Furthermore I’d like to add that now one of two toilets in the men’s changing rooms has the toilet seat hanging on by a tread and has been this way for at least a couple of weeks! Management don’t care whatsoever about the state of the place.
